Cons Unless I were a student, I would not invest in this software. Its extremely inefficient for creating architectural drawings because its not a BIM software like Revit, for example. If you are just using occasionally it for 2D drawings, there's really no need to get anything but the basic, cheapest form of CAD. Pros the software is straight forward and easy to use but has a lot of depth to its functionality if you want to spend the time and really learn the software. it is an industry standard and is still the most frequently requested file type. For every thing that I need to do, there seems to be a tool that helps me achieve that task with ease. Cons Somewhat of a learning curve if someone is completely new to the world of architecture, but I was exposed to this software through a learning institution and therefore have grasped using it at my current job with not to much difficulty. Pros In my experience as a Civil Engineer in remodeling works, the fact that can calculate the amount of material needed to execute the entire work according to the design volumes. The use of detail components such as bolts, beams, sections of structural members that work like blocks. The work of several planes at the same time, of the different phases of the work in the same file. And of course the ease of sharing it with other engineers. One of my passions is architecture, and I have been fortunate enough to be able to use this software for several projects. I have worked with a team to develop and design a hallway with entries and exits in a residence that was made significantly easier to contextualize with the use of this phenomenal software. Pros The interface is very streamlined and simplified. In a world where complex software seems to mean complex interfaces, Autodesk has done an excellent job making the tools obvious and user intuitive. I also am highly impressed by the capabilities of the software, as this is a step beyond just regular AutoCAD. The Architecture version is very smart, and doesn't just require user inputs, but it actually helps the user make decisions (regarding engineering of structure, etc). Cons The software is quite expensive, I must say. Beginning architects will face high barriers to entry with this software, and need to spend a lot to use it. Of course, what you can do with it outweighs the cost, but for some, the cost will just be too great. If your business can pay for it, or expense it, that is the way to go. Pros The way the command line interacts with the user, making him questions, is very helpful for beginners and either for experts. Cons The hatches need a very powerful computer.
