Pros: What I like most about this software is its usefulness, coupled with its simplistic yet easy layout. The options for available times and selections are very easy to read, making it very user-friendly. I also liked the way the layout also seemed to cater to touchscreen devices with larger than average digital buttons for selections. This definitely contributes to use on the go when a reservation may be needed to be made last minute. The available time suggestions closest to my desired time and date option also save me time from having to search around and find an available date and time.

Cons: There is not much I dislike about this software, but one thing that I would appreciate is in regards to desired date storage. What I mean by this is, let us say I have a date and time in mind for a reservation, and that time slot is not available, I am unable to book that timeslot. However, I am never made aware if that time slot becomes available unless I keep checking on that timeslot. It would be ideal if this software could incorporate an email alert or equivalent if a previously unavailable timeslot becomes available (due to the party originally occupying the reservation say cancels their existing reservation or if more seating becomes available) such that I can book my desired timeslot. While I realize this is more a feature I would like to see in a future update as opposed to an issue with the present software, I feel that this is something that is lacking that could be easily incorporated as a very useful user option.

I predominantly use OpenTable for all my meal reservation-making.

Pros: What I like the most about OpenTable is its ease of use. If I know what restaurant I want to book a reservation for and they have availability, I can basically get in and get out in less than 2 minutes. THAT'S efficiency.

I also like that you can customize searches by specific neighborhoods, specific occasions or ambiances (romantic vs. casual, etc.) and obviously prices.

Yelp isn't a main competitor but I hate that when you search for a bar or restaurant in a certain neighborhood on Yelp the results populate many, many bars or restaurants beyond that neighborhood to satisfy the search generation. I like that OpenTable functions more explicitly and narrowly than Yelp but it MAY include some very close neighborhoods in a search query.

OpenTable's trend forecasting and "places we think you'd like" are on point, too. They do a good job of assimilating restaurants into categories not just by food type but ambiance type and cost. On OpenTable, very often I'll book a reservation and then come back to check something and see that there are recommended restaurants for me that I actually already have on my personal list. It's not just like, "You picked an Italian restaurant, so we're going to recommend another Italian restaurant!". It feels more personalized and catered to me because many other factors are seemingly taken into account besides just food type.

Cons: This isn't a dig at the software specifically but I feel like some high end or modern / niche restaurants decide to host reservations on Resy instead and that tends to deter me from using OpenTable from time to time. I haven't had any issue with the OpenTable software specifically.

Overall: Easy planning, less anxiety in wondering if a restaurant will have a wait, easy searching and filtering.

Pros: This is an unbelievably convenient and functional product. I use it to find restaurants easily and reliably when I travel. It's much more convenient than having to call the restaurant. I can make reservations any time of the day and go back-and-forth between restaurants to compare available times. Then, after I finish making my reservation, I could send the information to the other people in my party with just one click. Because of this product, I have tried many new restaurants and in many different areas that I wouldn't have otherwise tried. And, of course, the point system gets me a coupon every so often.

Cons: My biggest complaint is with the interface. I use it as an app on my phone mostly and sometimes I have trouble finding what I'm looking for. It works much better on the desktop.

Overall: Very convenient and a great timesaver

Pros: It allows you to assign tables in the restaurant as they come in and shoes a fairly good job of tracking several metrics like turn time, server cover counts, etc. It also has ways to advertise and draw in customers who may not know about you.

Cons: It's impossible to compete. With the difficulty in finding a restaurant as a customer it translates to moe exposure for larger chain restaurants with budgets to throw at open table. Also, it's pricey. The cost per guest that books is unreasonable and you still have to pay more to advertise. It's just not worth it in my opinion. That are cheaper methods available that focus on phone number advertising as opposed to email (because who opens email nowadays). There are text message options with open table but they are buried and not effective.

Overall: Not enough to list. Exposure, but it's limited for smaller companies.

Pros: Exposure. But also many features to keep track of your bookings, who changed the bookings when, and history of return guests. Great customer service- you get right thru every time. Highly recommend.

Cons: I wish it would have the ability to get it on more computers without the extra cost. As a sales manager, if I could get it at home, I could work from home.

Pros: Out of town guests can find us on line and make a reservation. It is easy to block off time slots and make up dates as long as I have access to a desktop. But when I dont they have great customer service and I if I call they will make the changes for me.

Cons: The new app for Android is not very user friendly. I can not make reservations from it. The only thing it is good for is seeing how many covers I have.
The price per cover is a little high.

Overall: new out of town guests

Pros: I like that you can set up your tables and time slots and move things around as needed. I love that you can put notes on customers and visits. Being able to have your own personal floor plan is also a nice perk.

Cons: They send confirmation emails but there is no way for the customer to respond to the emails. I wish you could also send text reminders to customers as well for reservations and use it to notify customers on the waitlist when their table is ready.

Pros: This software covers it all: taking reservations, making seating charts, organizing servers, and keeping track of wait lists. I found it incredibly easy to use after just a few days of use and am still picking up on little things here and there. It allows us to keep track of specific reservation requests, such as high chairs, outdoor seating requests, or VIP status. Customers can even make reservations online.

Cons: Sometimes the layout of the selections seems a little counter intuitive. Besides that, it is easy to use and customize for your restaurant.

Pros: -Effentialy take a large number of reservations without having to personally speak to each customer
-Easy to young hosts to learn and use

Cons: -Holes in the system, for example, software saying the restaurant is booked when it is actually not.
-Rejecting customers from making reservations after missing 3 reservations.

Overall: Benefits are removing the workload from hosts seating tables. Now hosts can focus on one job instead of also having to take down reservations and away from face to face interaction.

Pros: It is easy to use and allows people to enter all of their own information into our reservation book, so that there's less chance of the restaurant getting it wrong. Since people can make and change their own reservations, the restaurant staff can focus more of their time on customer experience!

Cons: Sometimes customers say that they've made a reservation but there is no record of it when they come in to dine. This may be user error, but I've seen the system go "offline" before, which impacts the ability to make a reservation.

Overall: OpenTable is a lifesaver. I can't imagine running a night at the host stand without it. The ability to text guests when their table is ready is my favorite feature, and I love being able to save permanent notes about diners.

Pros: The biggest pros of the software are the use by the end customers for "points." Because of the app and the large user base, it is easy to get new clients coming in the doors of the restaurants. Management of the restaurant is also becoming easily with the Opentable software updates.

Cons: Again, some complaints are from the end user side of things. The app and website are occasionally buggy, the points are hard to redeem, etc.

Pros: Multiple functions. Allows you to perfectly sync all booked tables. Easy to adapt for any venue. Helps in a minutes place and schedule all upcoming reservations.

Cons: This is proper restaurant software. I was working on it in many different venues many years. It's take some time to fully master all its features.

Overall: Saves loads of time. From taking a booking through seating to after visit contact and next booking.

Pros: The training videos. The certification. The ease of navigating.
Opentable not only serves the guests, but gives hosts etc the ability to place guests with ease. The functionality is perfect.

Cons: That I can't seem to lock hostesses out of playing with background colors or code colors.
Notes are not saved automatically. Sometimes it's too busy to save before exiting.

Easy to use, functions well, keeps any restaurant organized.

Pros: Super user friendly. It was easy to input orders with a nicely mapped layout of the restaurant, which help staff function more efficiently. Checking out is easy too. A really nice function of the software is that customers could make reservations, either online or by calling the restaurant directly, and once the time and date are input, it automatically updates the floor plan to include these reservations so tables don't get double booked.

Cons: Every once and a while, there would be issues of the software connecting to the printers, but we were always able to get things up and running in no time.

Overall: Easy to use, easy to teach others to use, makes getting through the rushes organized and easier.

I have used open table for years now. They continue to update software. Updates are automatic.

Pros: Very user friendly. Ease of use is great. You can do yearly comparisons with just a few steps. It updates after business hours which helps. Very easy to train new employees.

Cons: The app and online does not feature a desk top computer option. You can not print paper copies of floor plans.

Overall: OpenTable is by far superior to the old "pen & paper" host stand board. The only issue I've ever had with it is modifying or changing sheets for additional dining spaces in the restaurant. Otherwise, it's a great product that is only getting better.

Pros: So easy to use. When I was a hostess for the first time ever, I used Open Table and it was so easy to use and their resources are outstanding. Also loved that online reservations would automatically push through to our F.O.H. computer, without us having to go through any hassle and manually adding them in.

Cons: Honestly, nothing. I think that it gets the job done and it's such an easy platform - F.O.H. staff will appreciate this software so much.

Pros: It is fairly easy to use and intuitive. I love that I can literally use it on any device, and from any where.

Cons: The price point is slightly higher than similar programs. Some of the features that were available in the old system are not available any more.

Pros: Auto updates to software. Ease of use for first time users. I like the options for adding servers /table numbers.

Cons: Tends to freeze alot on iPads. Do not like that an actual floor plan can not be printed. I would prefer a paper copy for training purposes.

Overall: Properly staffing according to reservations.

Pros: This software saves a lot of time and both customers and the restaurants like the idea of not having to use a phone. I have never encountered an error when using OpenTable (i.e. making a reservation and the restaurant not having a record of it)

Cons: I think OpenTable just needs to do a better job of marketing and getting restaurants that take reservations to list themselves on their website. There are a few other competitors (Resy) that I don't think are as good, but have restaurants that are not yet available on opentable.

Pros: Open Table is so easy to use. I love the feature of seeing the 15 minutes before and after, so you can see when reservations are available if not at the exact time you requested. I love that it saves your profile so it's literally just the click of a button.

Cons: The only thing I do not like is that some restaurants don't open up all of their reservations to opentable, so sometimes it still requires a phone call to the restaurant and magically they can get you in! (Harder to do when you have a baby and toddler at home)

The best and easiest way to make dinner reservations!

Pros: I love the ability to scroll to a certain date and time when searching for restaurants. I also like how they make known what times the restaurants have reservations available. It is the most user friendly software I have ever used.

Cons: There is hardly anything I dislike about this software, but if I had to chose it would how long it takes for a user to earn enough points for a true reward. I use the software because it is a quick and easy to make reservations, but do not see how the reward system would work as a way to gain customers or as an incentive for returning customers. A true monetary reward seems almost impossible to reach.

OpenTable is an excellent software. Very easy to use and manage.

Pros: The ease of use to browse restaurants and set an appointment is top-notch. It's integration into smartphones and email is also great.

Cons: There aren't really any I can name - I have had no issues with OpenTable to date. Cancelling a reservation can be tough to do with some software similar to this, but OpenTable handles it better than most.

Overall: It makes booking managing reservations a breeze. Have not had any issues to date. Customer service is terrific.

I use this for 80% of my restaurant reservations and its great that you can accumulate points!

Pros: Easy to use, includes most restaurants in NYC and LA, its great that you can earn points for your reservations & redeem them for OpenTable giftcards to be used toward future reservations

Cons: Sometimes not synced completely, UX could be improved for easy of navigation and sometimes the search tool is not perfect (e.g. I will search for thai food in lower east side and it shows results in chelsea or food that is not thai)

Pros: It is very user friendly, and easy to learn as well as easy to use. Training is a breeze when it comes to this system, and i like that the internal channel looks very similar to the external, as i use both systems.

Cons: I think that overall there is so much more potential for this software. Some room for added features are definitely available, and with the ease of use these should not be hard to implement.

Pros: I like that I can make reservations online and modify them when I need to if someone cancels or someone wants to join in on our reservation. I like that I don't have to call and talk to someone on the phone.

Cons: There are glitches sometimes when I do need to modify or cancel and it says that it cannot complete my request and then it doesn't update and then I do have to call the restaurant.

OpenTable is a great way for me to plan my schedule locally and on vacation.

Pros: I like how easy it is to use and how even if my preferred time / place is not available, nearby suggestions are shown. I have never had a problem with a restaurant using an OpenTable reservation.

Cons: I just wish more restaurants were on it! Further, I wish it was easier to document special requests in the reservation booking or even provide an option to pre-pay with credit card.

I don't dine in a restaurant that doesn't use OpenTable

Pros: I love the easy interface, the up to the minute editing functionality, and my ability to leave notes for special occasions. Oh, and the rewards points are awesome!

Cons: I love OpenTable and my only complaint is that not every restaurant is required to use it! They have done a tremendous job with just the right amount of features and benefits to make this for every diner.

Pros: +Very easy booking reservations for your favorite (or new favorite) restaurant. Easy to use app or online platform.

Pros: the software pretty much does everything you would want a reservation system to do, it takes reservations online, it gives you data on how your tables are doing and provides feedback

Cons: It is very expensive, the cost ranges; but, you are usually charged per diner rather than a fixed fee

Pros: I love OpenTable! It's very easy to learn. I love the notes taking section on guest profiles. It helps you to remember the little things.

Cons: Not really the best customer service. Slow to respond and resolve issues. Can be frustrating at times.

Overall: Easy to use from a User Interface standpoint.

Pros: Gives us a cental spot for planning a day business. Tracking when tables are sat became significantly easier. Communication of floor plan and seating rotation was improved.

Cons: A tablet is needed. Retraining staff and placement can be a problem due to the need of a power outlet.

Pros: I love that they track your visits and points so you get rewarded for using this app. This is what all apps should do - to give you an intensive for using it!

Cons: The only downfall is that not all of the restaurants use this app which may not be open tables fault but it is very convenient and I love using it!

Pros: I like how easy it is to setup a reservation at a wide variety of restaurants. I also like that you get rewards for using the app to setup reservations.

Cons: I don't like that there are a limited number of restaurants near my house that are using opentable. It makes it easier when they do.

Pros: So easy to use; allows me to choose restaurants in other states/cities when traveling and ensures my reservations are recorded.

Cons: In the many, many times I have used this software, I have never been disappointed. There is nothing negative I can say.

Overall: So simple to use; great restaurants

Pros: Great user-friendly restaurant app. Very easy to use, love the email reminders and the rewards program is awesome too!

Cons: Not many complaints to report. Wish it had a few more restaurants listed on it that I frequent on a regular basis.

Found a fun and exciting new restaurant while visiting a new city that we would never have found.

Pros: No matter what city I am in, when I log into OpenTable, I always find a great restaurant with excellent reviews to assist me in my dining decisions. I do find that there is an excellent variety of options and simplicity in finding the best time reservation for our party- no matter the size.

Cons: Open Table doesn't seem to have any negative issues that I have found. Every opportunity we have taken to utilize this software, we have been very satisfied.

Overall: Excellent dining options and never disappointed in a selection!

I've used opentable a few times on last minute date nights to reserve us a table.

Pros: I like how easy it is to use the app and how you can even use it at the last minute. Say I know we want to eat in Atlanta, I plug in the city and quickly find what is available while we are driving there.

Cons: I haven't had any issues using opentable. It worked as expected and our reservations were perfect once arriving to the restaurant.

Still a reliable way to book tables for off-leak times if it doesn't integrate with other software.

Pros: Customers are loyal to the 'points' system, meaning that many customers will book through OpenTable to get the points. By only listing times that are considered off-peak for your business, you can help to fill these times with customers who like the perks of OpenTable.

Cons: This does not integrate with our main reservations system, and resy's need to be manually entered into our system. Further integration across systems would be very welcomed.

Pros: Open table has completely changed the way I eat. It is SO easy to use and makes it convenient. I usually will not eat at a restaurant unless it is on open table. Their point/reward system is AMAZING as well! So easy to change/modify/cancel reservations as well.

Cons: I honestly have nothing bad to say about this software other than it sometimes has glitches. This happens very rarely though and they have great customer service.

Pros: I love how easy it is to find and make reservations. I also love how you can download the reservation and details right into your ical. Finally, I love that you get points and can redeem them for $$ at certain restaurants.

Cons: In the past, it was confusing to find the bottom to download the reservation to my phone cal. They either changed it to make it easier, or I am just used to the app. I am not sure which! :)

Pros: It's easy to use, the platform is for clean too. I like that not only can you make reservations but customers can do their research about the quality of a restaurant by reading their reviews, which are, I think, posted by foodies who know what they are talking about. At the same time, restaurants can use the reviews to help their own operations by seeing what customers like and don't like. And each restaurant shows how many times its been booked that day, another cool feature. Mobile versions available as well!

Cons: I've usually got at least one or two cons to talk about with a program, but I really enjoy using OpenTable and haven't found much against it.

Overall: Easy to make reservations, see how busy a restaurant it, and research a place before going.

Pros: I appreciate being able to see available reservations so we can pick what time. I love being able to make reservations online and not have to call the restaurant.

Cons: I do not like when restaurants charge to secure a reservation. I have found this is common with reservations over 5 people. I also do not like when reservations are not available on open table but when you call they are available.

This has made reservations on the go much easier!

Pros: I love the reviews I can also see with restaurants. It also makes it much easier to make reservations at last minute or to see what time options I have. It is also great to make large party reservation for work clients.

Cons: Sometimes the mobile app will time out and can be a little glitchy, though not enough for me to discontinue using it.

Pros: I like the ability to easily keep all of my upcoming reservations in one places, share reservations easily with friends, and the ability to collect rewards for some reservations really sweetens the deal.

Cons: There really isn't much that I dislike. However, I do feel as though the OpenTable widget for third-party sites is clunky and not very robust.

Pros: My friends and I all use this app to book reservations. I love the suggestions feature and the ability to quickly change a reservation. I would recommend this to everyone.

Cons: I do not like that the software resets to a default number of people and time of day, as I sometimes forget to change it.

I just love this for making reservations to restaurants

Pros: I love not having to call or stand in line. It is easy to use and just a click a way which adds so much convenience when trying to go to a restaurant.

Cons: I love everything so not much. It would be nice to have the capability of getting text reminders as well.

Pros: The only software i like to have for making online reservations. So easy to pick a time and see if it is available.

Cons: Sometimes it won't let you do larger parties. Always says not available and I call the restaurant and it is available.

Overall: This is a great way to make restaurant reservations for me!! So easy to do it online.

Pros: I first downloaded this for my anniversary about 8 years ago and it saved me, as the restaurant was having phone issues. The ease to pick a restaurant, time slot and enter your basic info is perfect. You also get easy confirmations and I have yet to have an issue making a reservation.

Pros: Very easy to make reservations for the time and place that you want. Has all the accommodations you need for fulfilling your reservation.

Cons: The only thing I have a problem with, is when restaurants don't call to confirm your reservation. There should be some kind of agreement for this to happen

Cons: Ease to use without training

Overall: Great software for restaurants looking to capture more business and display what they have to offer. Great incentives to get guests to come to your establishment. Would like it to be a little easier to use on the business end but the customer service reps always help if you don't know.

Pros: Easy to use

Overall: I introduced OpenTable to a client of mine as they wanted to grow their business and get more people eating at night.

After launching we have used their bookings app for adding phone and walk-in bookings and get notifications for online bookings. It's easy to use for the restaurant and the customers love how easy it is to book a table.

Comments: OpenTable allows you to track a diner from start to finish letting the entire team know the status of a table without words. Easy to use and lots of useful information generated from the software. You can even receive catering referrals through the software.

Pros: it is a very easy interface and easy to modify your reservation on the fly. I like how quick it is to confirm a seating

Pros: Love the clear view of all the restaurants around me and the easy reservation system. They even remind me when my reservation is coming up and ask for my opinion after!

Cons: I would like if the system used a rating model that allowed me to view more photos of other reviews. Maybe the system could even link to an existing site that does that already.
