### "Super-easy to use"

June 17, 2022

5.0

After lots of research, it's one of the best systems out there for restaurants. And great value for money.

Pros

This is great system to manage table bookings for a restaurant, with lots of marketing options. Once it's set up, it takes the hassle out of managing bookings and it's easy to also manually add bookings and block off tables. It's also good for CRM. And there's the option to generate reports and extract data for mailing lists.

Cons

The set up can be quote tricky, but once it's done, it's super-easy to manage.

### "The leading restaurant booking system"

October 15, 2025

4.0

Overall, I am very pleased with OpenTable. I use it at both of my restaurants and staff who work at both sites find it easy to navigate as they are used to the system. It is always easy to get in touch by phone with an expert from OpenTable who can explain how to do various things.

Pros

OpenTable is clearly the industry leader when it comes to restaurant reservation systems. It is easy to learn how to use and we can switch easily between our two restaurants within the same app. There are rarely any issues with the software and orders and table status are updates live across all devices, meaning that I can even see all the live tables from my phone when at home. OpenTable is not the cheapest booking system but when customers book through your own network (your own website) it costs a lot less. Any staff who are permitted to make changes can have their own log in for security reasons. It is easy to communicate with customers and message them if necessary - the advantage of customers ticking a box to allow contact for marketing is very useful too.

Cons

The cost involved when customers book through the OpenTable network. This is £2 per cover in addition to the monthly fee.

### "Must Need App for Dinning"

June 29, 2026

5.0

My overall experience with OpenTable has been positive. The platform made reservation management more efficient and provided a convenient booking experience for guests. Features such as real-time availability, automated confirmations, and table management tools helped streamline operations and improve customer service. Overall, it has been a reliable solution for managing reservations and enhancing the guest experience.

Pros

What I liked most about OpenTable was how easy it made managing reservations and table availability in real time. The platform streamlined the booking process for both staff and guests, reduced scheduling conflicts, and improved the overall dining experience. The user-friendly interface and automated confirmations also helped save time and increase operational efficiency.

Cons

What I liked least about OpenTable was that some features and integrations required additional costs, which could add up over time. There were also occasional limitations with customization options and reporting capabilities, making it more difficult to tailor the platform to specific operational needs.

### "A Trusted Tool for Restaurant Visibility and Reservations"

April 27, 2026

5.0

Overall, my experience with OpenTable was positive and reliable. It’s a well‑established platform that excels at reservation management, offering a smooth and familiar experience for both diners and restaurants. The real‑time booking system, guest management features, and broad customer reach made it an effective tool for maintaining visibility and streamlining front‑of‑house operations. That said, the cost structure and limited flexibility stood out as challenges, especially for busy restaurants or those wanting more control over branding and direct customer relationships. Despite this, OpenTable remains a dependable, industry‑standard solution that delivers consistent results, particularly for establishments prioritizing exposure and ease of use.

Pros

What I liked most about OpenTable was its ease of use and wide reach. The platform makes managing reservations straightforward for both guests and staff, and its large, established user base helps drive consistent visibility and bookings. I also appreciated the real‑time reservation management, guest preferences tracking, and reliable integrations, which made front‑of‑house operations more efficient and improved the overall dining experience.

Cons

What I liked least about OpenTable was the cost structure, particularly for reservation and cover‑based fees, which can add up quickly for busy restaurants. Additionally, there was limited flexibility around customization and branding, and restaurants often felt dependent on the platform’s ecosystem, with less control over direct customer relationships compared to other tools. While the system is reliable, some features and changes also felt restrictive unless you upgraded to higher‑tier plans.

### "OpenTable is Superior to the rest!"

May 8, 2025

5.0

We've been using It for over 4 years and love it. It is easy to use for the Restaurant Management in the front and back end. We love how it has marketing tools inside the program so we don't have to add anything else on for internal marketing.

Pros

I love using open table for all Reservation Management software abilities as well as the Marketing side of Open Table. We've been using open table for over 4 years now and would recommend it to lots of restaurants in our area!

Cons

The pricing is very expensive compared to its competitors - which we understand due to all the usage you can get out of the software and it being well-known.

### "My honest review of OpenTable "

May 2, 2025

5.0

I recommend OpenTable for any venues that need exposure. It’s one of the top booking platforms if you can afford the service

Pros

I like that opentable has an app that’s easily accessible for venues. Super easy to adjust booking experiences, add users, monitor / limit functions. Tripleseat integration is a breeze.

Cons

OpenTable’s downfall would be pricing for venues. It offers great exposure but at a higher cost

### "Wonderful software - a little pricey"

February 13, 2025

4.0

OpenTable serves its intended purpose well, providing a straightforward platform for customers to easily find my restaurant. It offers a functional and reliable reservation system, but doesn’t evoke strong feelings—neither exciting nor disappointing. Its main role is focused on marketing, and the experience is generally neutral without any standout features. The reservation system works efficiently, with solid functionality and a range of useful features. It does the job, though it doesn’t go above and beyond. One downside is the cost. The price can feel a bit high, especially considering the platform is primarily used just for reservations. And, The waitlist feature was not the best fit for us. Reason for Choosing OpenTable I've been considering switching from OpenTable to Toast for our reservation system but am still figuring out how best to communicate the change to our customers, both existing and new.

Pros

Optimized bookings, seating flow, and intuitive reservation booking. The status updates for tabling is incredibly helpful as well.

Cons

Our waitlist was too complicated to implement. We still use our own in house waitlist.. managing the app and walk-in's became a communication issue for staff and guests. The cost is a little more than we would like as well.

### "Beaware of Sales Tactics."

February 25, 2025

1.0

Good with the setup and getting us to start. Very bad with ones you request to change the package.

Pros

Initial conversations, helpful to setup. Later we realized why.. (We are an Australian restaurant)

Cons

They have 2 packages. They use the cheaper package to compare it with the one you use and offer a free period to get you on-board. Then they say to try the other package and say it can be downgraded anytime. But, when they send the contract they add the higher package. After sign, they do not downgrade. That is the trick.

### "Halfway there, but needs help"

March 31, 2021

4.0

Table reservation management is the basic goal, and attracting new patrons is also right up there. On the latter, OT is only fair. They used to be better about bringing in new people, but seem to have changed their algorithm. But it's not as bad as the money grubbers at Yelp who go out of their way to prevent people from seeing your restaurant name unless you pay them absurd amounts.

Pros

OT is a reasonably priced reservation system that is reliable and straightforward to use. It offers more extensive services for a large operation, but in its minimal form is easy for a small (35-45 seat) restaurant to use without dedicating a person to managing it.

Cons

The mobile app could be great, but isn't. There are three ways to interact: PC Web, Mobile Web, and Mobile App (Android in my case). They all have slightly different functionality, for no good reason. - Example 1: The mobile app lets you see previous times a patron came in; mobile Web and PC Web only tell you the number, not the dates. But the mobile app doesn't give you control over scheduling and such. So you find yourself flipping among multiple devices to get your job done. - Example 2: Mobile Web and mobile app require constant re-login. PC does not. - Example 3: PC works reliably to see reservations, but after a period of inactivity, stops allowing interaction (such as setting a guest to "Seated"). A browser refresh is required. Exasperating!

Switched from

[Yelp Guest Manager](https://www.capterra.com/p/130358/Yelp-Reservations/)

We started with OpenTable, went to SeatMe when OT got too expensive for the dedicated unit, and then were approached by OT with a better system (cloud-based). We never looked back. Yelp maybe works for huge restaurants but isn't practical for a small operation.

Great! It is a very helpful app. I order take out a lot and use this app for orders and viewing restaurants etc.

### "Wouldn't use it if I didn't have to"

June 22, 2023

3.0

Pros

Some elements of the platform are intuitive and easy to use. Pacing controls work pretty well, but I don't like much else.

Cons

I spent years avoiding using OpenTable because I take issue with their pricing structure. In 2022 our brand mandated its use, so we made the switch. There are a handful of useful features but I have largely been unimpressed with it. I dislike that each device you use it on has different functionality -- I feel we should largely be able to do the same things on the mobile app that we can on an ipad or a PC. It makes things more cumbersome than they should be. I still take issue with their pricing structure as we operated our business for nearly 20 years using platforms that do not have a per-cover charge. And for the price we should have more robust messaging (SMS), better automated confirmation processes, and we should be able to take a credit card guarantee via our local website booking widget without having to pay the per-cover price (this is an issue with their API and I have not been given any timeline of a fix). Overall I'm largely unimpressed, just as I always expected to be.

Reason for choosing OpenTable

I would not have chosen OpenTable if I could have avoided it.

### "OpenTable is the Industry Standard. "

December 21, 2021

4.0

My experience as a hostess in a high end jazz club has been great. Once you get the drift of using Open Table, it's easy to use and implement, easy to change tables around and has been an excellent source of information because it stores history on any client that is entered into the system.

Pros

The features most liked are the customer history, ability to bypass the standard programming for a table and put in special requests. I also like the ease of which you can change a floor plan and number the tables to accommodate various special occasion situations. And I like the ability to no-show a client and they receive that response. Also like the ability to enter in special codes like anniversary, birthday, special event, gluten free, etc. This all helps us to give the client a superior experience.

Cons

The system is only as good as what is programmed into it. You have to learn the tricks and tips to move around the Open Table system in order to get past what it tells you upfront.

### "OpenTable Review"

August 7, 2023

5.0

Love it! Would recommend to anyone because it has something for everyone!

Pros

I use OpenTable at least once a week to book reservations for either myself & my boyfriend or a group of friends and I absolutely love it. The best parts of the application are that you can customize what you're looking for (this is specifically helpful for dates/times and different types of food), keep track of your reservations and save favorites. I also love that you can share the reservation with other attendees and that it populates directly to your Google calendar so you never forget what you've booked!

Cons

The only thing that I dislike about OpenTable is that it does not include all restaurants in the area. I know that this is not the fault of OpenTable itself and that these restaurants have not signed up to use the application - but it just makes the whole process of finding a reservation more limited/difficult, especially when in a new area.

### "OpenTable is Imperative in this Day & Age"

October 18, 2022

5.0

I find that OpenTable is a very good option for reservations and that my notes for special instructions are always followed. I also love the reward system. It is fun to build up points and receive Amazon gift cards after so many points are earned. It is also cool that they have the menus available to peruse before you arrive as well as special "experience" options that you can choose at some of the restaurants.

Pros

It is user-friendly, the calendar option is great, and the ability to invite guests is fantastic. I use OpenTable almost every day. I travel for work and use OpenTable to book all of my lunch and dinner meetings for my clients when possible. I love the rewards program, receiving Amazon gift cards every so often is always fun. I also really enjoy learning about new restaurants in the area I live in and in the towns, I am visiting for work or on vacation. The "experience" option is also fun and tells you a little bit more about each restaurant as you make your reservation.

Cons

The only two complaints that I have is that some restaurants pull open seating on certain days and that all restaurants so not participate in Open table.
