April 26, 2018 5.0 Easy planning, less anxiety in wondering if a restaurant will have a wait, easy searching and filtering. Pros What I like the most about OpenTable is its ease of use. If I know what restaurant I want to book a reservation for and they have availability, I can basically get in and get out in less than 2 minutes. THAT'S efficiency. I also like that you can customize searches by specific neighborhoods, specific occasions or ambiances (romantic vs. casual, etc.) and obviously prices. Yelp isn't a main competitor but I hate that when you search for a bar or restaurant in a certain neighborhood on Yelp the results populate many, many bars or restaurants beyond that neighborhood to satisfy the search generation. I like that OpenTable functions more explicitly and narrowly than Yelp but it MAY include some very close neighborhoods in a search query. OpenTable's trend forecasting and "places we think you'd like" are on point, too. They do a good job of assimilating restaurants into categories not just by food type but ambiance type and cost. On OpenTable, very often I'll book a reservation and then come back to check something and see that there are recommended restaurants for me that I actually already have on my personal list. It's not just like, "You picked an Italian restaurant, so we're going to recommend another Italian restaurant!". It feels more personalized and catered to me because many other factors are seemingly taken into account besides just food type. Cons This isn't a dig at the software specifically but I feel like some high end or modern / niche restaurants decide to host reservations on Resy instead and that tends to deter me from using OpenTable from time to time. I haven't had any issue with the OpenTable software specifically. Review Source AP Aria P. I love it! Pros Open Table is very intuitive for the user who downloads it. It is the first reservation software i use too search for restaurants when i am out of town. None of its competitors are as easy to use for an unfamiliar area Cons It would be great if they could get restaurants who do not subscribe to them to be able to be contacted by me the user to see if I could get a reservation via email or text to the restaurant. It is easy to block off time slots and make up dates as long as I have access to a desktop. But when I dont they have great customer service and I if I call they will make the changes for me. Cons The new app for Android is not very user friendly. I can not make reservations from it. The only thing it is good for is seeing how many covers I have. The price per cover is a little high. Booking a reservations takes about 30 seconds total. They follow-up with a confirmation email, as well as emails after your dine, offering the ability to rate the experience for the benefit of the restaurant and other users, and they promptly credit you the points you've earned. The app also lets you input any special occasions you'd like to notate, which is really handy for birthdays, anniversaries, etc. Pros The OpenTable app rewards you for making reservations - something you would likely do anyway! Not only that, but it makes the reservation process that much easier. You simply look up the restaurant, instantly see what days/times are available, and in a few clicks, you have your reservation. As soon as your reservation is completed, you earn points for dining. Once your point balance gets high enough (which doesn't take that long if you dine often), you can exchange those points for dining credits, or use them for discounts on hotels, or on flights booked through Kayak! You can supercharge your point earnings by selecting restaurants that have need dates/times that they would like to fill, often earning you 10x the points you would normally earn on a regular reservation. Cons The only negative is that not every restaurant is on it. It does have a dominant presence in the industry, so while you may not always find a cafe or coffee shop, a reputable restaurant is usually on the platform. Review Source ML Megan L. The continued evolution of the product is much appreciated. Pros There is so many benifits- ease of use, platform for managing reservations prior to and in the moment, it aids in generating reservations, retaining guests and collecting data. Now that there is a venga connection I’m over the moon! Cons Honestly the cost per reservation is a little high for small owner operated restaurants but the added benefits are unmatched. Now hosts can focus on one job instead of also having to take down reservations and away from face to face interaction. Pros \-Effentialy take a large number of reservations without having to personally speak to each customer -Easy to young hosts to learn and use Cons \-Holes in the system, for example, software saying the restaurant is booked when it is actually not. -Rejecting customers from making reservations after missing 3 reservations. Pros The ease of use for the application is what stood out to me the most. The application interface is also very straightforward and easy to navigate. Cons The one concern that I have with the booking is that there could be conflicts and timing delays with a restaurant's actual booking system. I love using it especially when traveling and booking ahead. You can have your reservations all set and if you need to cancel, it is an easy process. Pros OpenTable is great for booking last minute or planning ahead at any restaurant in most cities. Everything is at your finger tips, menus,directions, reviews. Very user friendly and you are able to customize your reservation with any special needs that you have. You get see all the choices that are offered of dining in the area that you are looking. Cons There is not much I do not like about this software. I would like to see the VIP points never expire. There are times in life that you are not going out alot and it would be great to have that feature. The VIP status though, really does not do much and there are a small percentage of restaurants that will accept there. I would like to see a priority in seating, or a comp of some sort. It is extremely easy to use and it is not time-consuming at all. Pros I use OpenTable to make restaurant reservations all the time. Its ease of use is what keeps me coming back for more time and time again. I find it to be more convenient than calling the restaurant myself and being put on hold. It is a widely used application so that serves as a bonus as well. Cons Sometimes when you make a reservation on OpenTable and show up at the restaurant, they say they do not see that a reservation was made so I guess sometimes there is a glitch in the system, but anytime that has been the case, the restaurant still accommodates me regardless because I made the time to request a reservation in advance. Pros I use this tool a lot for making reservations! It makes booking reservations very easy to navigate and complete. It is very user friendly and it displays the dates and times in a very simple way. They also send reminders for your reservations which is also a great tool. They allow for easy cancellations and rescheduling as well. Definitely a very universal tool that almost everyone is familiar with, a must have! Pros All the details you need are there in the reservation once complete: day, time, location of table (if applicable), and any requests you might have if it's a special occasion. I like how connected Open Table is with restaurants in that they respect reservations made through that capacity. This has eliminated the need to call for a table or to ask for all available times as they are all visible through the website. I also like how you can leave Notes for the restaurant to read related to allergies or requests. I like their loyalty program and how they remind you to cancel and respect restaurant time. Cons What I like least is that the restaurants do not always take the Notes section of the Open Table reservation seriously, which is a fault on the restaurants end as Open Table cannot really enforce that being a third party. Its pretty painless and basically runs in the background for us. I wish it would do more, and address some of my cons - confirmation for customers, give a reason for cancellations, and have a better way of notifying us of reservations, emails get missed. But I cant really complain too much about a service that is this inexpensive and puts guests in seats Pros Easy to Use Painless Monthly Billing Inexpensive, Low Cost Helpful Dashboard Cons Easy to miss notifications, tends to get lost in my emails etc. Not sure how charges work for cancelled reservations, but I regularly have out of area numbers make reservations then cancel within minutes. Hopefully not padding their numbers. It is also easy to use: just indicate the restaurant, the number of seats, the date and the desired time. The platform takes care of the rest. If the restaurant is full, it even offers you the next available slot. Cons For me, the downside of OpenTable is its prices. Many competitors offer cheaper prices for the same services, so beware! Pros Finally upgraded a lot of options for the software. It's been years and years making suggestions with this company, glad they started to finally implement what industry people needed. Cons The cost associated with some of the repeat business seems like it's unnecessary, but as long as it's driving business towards me I'm OK with it.
