### "modern and simple payment solution"

August 31, 2019

5.0

The best payment gateway I found so far from available to my country.

Pros

1\. Accepting Russian businesses 2. The payment form is very simple, which helps to raise its conversion 3. Accepting foreign bank cards (Russian payment gateways usually do not)

Cons

They usually answer questions related to refunds and payments themselves, which doesn't allow to see how many users had a problem with a product before canceling a subscription or issuing a refund

### "Paddle is good but customer support is terrible."

September 23, 2021

5.0

The product itself is good but customer care is terrible. You can not rely on them even when you are paying them a commission for each transaction.

Pros

The paddle is a great payment processor and it includes many automation tools which make life easier.

Cons

The customer support is terrible it could take 2-3 days to answer or solve the problem. Once we've encountered a problem regarding the payment processing on a live website and when we contacted Paddle they identify the problem (which was on their side) but after 3 days there was no answer and it resulted us losing many customers.

### "Account closed after 7+ years and next to 0% chargebacks and refunds, migration taking forever"

February 22, 2026

1.0

Good experience years ago, bad experience in 2026. The risk team blindly uses AI to evaluate accounts. They say that they help with migrating to other payment providers, but it looks like they do not want to do so.

Pros

Paddle was easy to set up with adequate documentation. We were up and running very quickly, and we were able to easily take payments in multiple countries.

Cons

"Risk team" decided after 7 years that our account was violating their TOS. They provided a reason that I am 99% sure that it was provided by an AI tool without any validation (the reason that I am suggesting that it was an AI tool is that we occasionally receive cold emails by AI assuming we are a different kind of business) While they suggest that they can help you migrate to other payment providers, the migration itself is taking forever. I requested migration help (card data to Stripe) on the 12th of January 2026, and it is now 21st February, and the migration has not been completed, and they have not provided us with an estimate. We have provided all the necessary details in a timely manner.

### "My payment handling solution"

June 4, 2021

4.0

The API and the documentation seems to have been created by an inexperienced team, but they make up for it with an amazing support team. They also solve a very painful problem, and really have no competition.

Pros

On the internet you'll find some complaints abou the support at Paddle, but those are old, and the company really did fix that. The support now is amazing.

Cons

It's written in PHP, and it shows. Some of the details of the API are clearly designed with PHP in mind (such as requiring a php serialize function, which all the implementations in all the other languages have to emulate). And it seems that development has slowed down nearly to a halt.

### "The payment processor you need"

March 25, 2022

4.0

Overall we are very happy to have Paddle as a payment processor since they handle tax caluculation and order management.

Pros

Paddle offers good ways to protect against unauthorized chargebacks and checkout recovery.

Cons

The onboarding process takes way to long, if you look at competitors it takes you round about 5 minutes to signup, at paddle it takes a few days.

### "Hidden requirements make approval impossible for new businesses"

January 20, 2026

1.0

Applied with a legitimate B2B SaaS — registered company, GDPR-compliant policies, DPA, clear terms, instant digital delivery. They requested changes to my refund policy, which I completed within 14 minutes. Then they sent a questionnaire asking for processing statements. When I explained I'm a new business launching for the first time, they rejected me because I have no processing history. This requirement isn't mentioned anywhere on their website or during signup. Wasted over a week in their approval process only to be rejected for something I could never provide. If you're a new SaaS founder, skip Paddle — they don't actually accept new businesses despite marketing to startups.

Pros

The concept of a merchant of record handling global tax compliance is appealing for SaaS businesses.

Cons

Hidden approval requirements that aren't disclosed anywhere. They require 3 months of payment processing history to get approved, but don't tell you this until after you've spent a week jumping through hoops. Impossible for new businesses to qualify — classic catch-22.

### "Verification Deadlock: Support is unresponsive for over a week"

March 3, 2026

1.0

I am a legitimate developer with a ready-to-launch product, but I am blocked by Paddle's unresponsive compliance team. My address verification is stuck on "Identity checks" despite providing a bank statement. My domain appeal (vramshield.com) has been ignored, even though I completely updated my website to meet their AUP. I just need a senior specialist to review my account and unblock me. I will update this review once the issue is resolved.

Pros

The concept of an all-in-one Merchant of Record is exactly what my business needs. The API documentation is solid, and the promise of handling global Sales Tax/VAT automatically is the main reason I chose them.

Cons

The onboarding and verification process is completely broken. I have been stuck in a "verification deadlock" for over a week. I submitted official documents (bank statement) and a domain appeal, but support tickets are closed automatically without resolution. No human response.

Reason for choosing Paddle

Paddle acts as a true Merchant of Record (MoR), handling global VAT and sales tax automatically, which is critical for a small software business. Unfortunately, their onboarding process blocked me from actually using it.

### "Paddle will destroy your Sass!"

December 5, 2024

1.0

Pros

The sales team will eagerly encourage you to apply and assure you they support your business. But once you start making money, the risk team might step in and decide they don’t support you after all.

Cons

Paddle will destroy your startup! They closed my account after I earned $2,000, claiming they no longer support my business and would hold the funds for 180 days. Now, even after the 180 days have passed, they still haven’t released the money and don’t reply to my emails. #paddle #paddlepayment

### "Hard to tackle chargeback fraud"

January 12, 2026

1.0

Pros

Nothing much - good API integration, comprehensive documentation. The feature set is good, but that’s about it

Cons

Poor communication regarding customer transactions – when a chargeback happens, you merely get a notification of "adjustment created" (that you have to explicitly opt-in to even see). So a customer can get a €1,000+ refund and keep their downloaded, now un-licensed software without you knowing. It‘s important to stress the customer never reached out or voiced any concern with us. When you want to get more information regarding the issue, you hit a brick wall with abysmal customer support – it’s almost impossible to get ahold someone knowledgeable. The admin panel makes it very hard to contact a real person.

### "A necessity for operating an online business in the EU"

April 30, 2019

3.0

I'm using Paddle to license a macOS desktop app and am currently working on a web SaaS app that'll be monetised using Paddle's subscription billing support.

Pros

Paddle acting as a "merchant of record" (MOR) is the main selling point of their service: They take care of VAT & International sales regulations for you, so you can focus on building your product. Paddle excels at giving their customers peace of mind regarding some of the worst sticking points in international, online businesses, while providing a powerful toolset for creating Apps, SaaS & selling other digital goods. Collecting payments, licensing apps, running a subscription-based SaaS and much more is made possible in just a few lines of code by Paddle.

Cons

Paddles API documentation is sometimes lacking & their browser integration for subscription based billing can sometimes be hard to "work around" when trying to provide an optimal user experience for my customers.

### "Simplified saas billing in a modern way."

June 2, 2025

5.0

Helped to do internal billing for team tools in departments and gave finance clearer visibility into recurring software expenses.

Pros

Paddle made subscription billing for our in-built productivity tools so much easier. It’s all-in-one, even with tax compliance, which ultimately reduced overhead in managing VAT/GST globally.

Cons

It does take some technical setup to integrate and is more focused toward digital product–oriented firms, with some workarounds required for a manufacturing-centric use.

### "Payment Solution for SaaS"

March 27, 2025

4.0

I really like how Paddle handles all aspects of payments, taxes, and compliance for SaaS businesses.

Pros

IT's easy to scale quickly without dealing with the complexities of global payments, taxes, and compliance.

Cons

### "No link to unsubscribe"

June 4, 2024

Negative. No help with issue. Virtual assistant keeps saying I am a robot to most of the questions that are common.

Pros

Nothing for now. I used Paddle as a subscriber. It charged me on behalf of SlidesAI

Cons

It collects money but provides no link to unsubscribe or any help in this regards. Their client SlidesAI makes unsubscribing complicated

July 5, 2022

### "Great payment gateway solution for digital software selling"

January 22, 2021

5.0

Pros

They are an anti-fraud payment gateway. The coolest thing is they verify maximum payment manually. That's why I can feel safe. Also, they handle Sales Tax. This is the coolest thing for everyone.

Cons

Anyone can sell their digital software products without any hassles using the paddle payment gateway.

### "Security "

July 23, 2021

5.0

Overall would use if my company gets bigger because of how secure and reassuring everything is. It's not a household name but its just as great as many we know.

Pros

I liked how secure it was, I only briefly used it for selling digital ebooks but I was impressed at how they monitored fraud and was built to make sure nothing fraudulent happened. I like that it's processes PayPal payments too since this is what I used mainly.

Cons

It's not very user friendly compared to what I use now and I would not suggest using this for a small business. This is for a business that does a lot of electronic transactions and digital selling.

### "Would not install, even with tech support"

December 9, 2020

1.0

Not one since I could not install it.

Pros

Don't know never could get it to install even with one of their engineers, now they do not want to give refund!

Cons

Absolute lack of how to work with customers.

Reason for choosing Paddle

Good ad, if software lived up to billing and hype it was just what I needed. But then most companies will work with potential customers to help in this type of situation when the product will not do as suggested and work to find a solution. With Paddle you bought it, it is yours - work or not!!

### "Account disabled, fund lost"

May 23, 2018

1.0

Pros

API was well written, super easy to integrate. We just needed few days to have it working in our software. Fortunately, because they disabled our account the first day we went live...

Cons

After asking if my business was okay, we started integrating Paddle on our website. After one day of processing, they cancelled our account saying our business was finally not okay. Funds were held in theory for 90 days. We are now asking our funds each day from the day 90 to 120 and they haven't been released yet.

April 6, 2022

5.0

Pros

Customer support - quick to deal with a payment to a company that were no longer supporting a product. As a user this saved a great deal of headache. Payments to other providers have also gone through smoothly.

Cons

Not had any issues with Paddle so far, either with payments or with customer support.
