We do green screen video announcements once a week, which is incredible to see elementary school students capable of editing! Organizing can be a bit of a bear, but the range of capabilities of this program are incredible! Pros WeVideo is a great web based video editor! It can scale itself to welcome all ages and ability levels through its "Storyboard" mode and it's "Timeline" mode. Storyboard is simpler, which is great with students, and Timeline is for more advanced works that let users create different tracks of media. The fact that I could edit green screen in the same tool that students can drag and drop short video clips is incredible! Cons My only issue with WeVideo is the organizing. I've been using it for a little over half a year, and I still struggle to organize my creations. The folder system isn't too complicated, but it doesn't always let me place files where I want. I also struggle to reorganize them, though I know if I take some time and sit down, I should be able to figure it out. I just wish this aspect was as intuitive as the rest of the program. Editing can be tedious at times but WeVideo is easy to use and the best part is that is online so you can open your editing file from different devices and continue where you left off. This app is included into the list of essential programs I install on my new devices. Pros This app allows editing video on the go. It’s installed on my mobile and even if I have an access to my desktop I still prefer to edit my video with WeVideo mobile app. I think the biggest advantage of the app is a set of ready themes and sounds. Cons The most of the featured are paid. Still, all content (like soundtracks) costs money now. I wish it could me a little faster with video rendering. The stock library has so many incredible resources like videos, pictures, and audio that will make your video creations epic. Lots of features. short learning curve. Cons I use SCREENCAST-O-MATIC and a feature they include that I use ALL THE TIME: Narration Silence CUT or SPEED UP? With a single click I can cut all the silent segments in a video. In WeVideo I have to find and trim each segment one. at. a. time. So my production time is higher when I use WeVideo. Switched from [ScreenPal](https://www.capterra.com/p/203114/ScreenPal/) WeVideo functions smoothly on a chromebook and is a good balance of easy to use with rich features. On my Windows computer I will use screencast-o-matic because it has one feature: Single click editing that trims or speeds up all narration silence found in a video. Most of the content I produce is lecture or software tutorial and this one feature makes screencast-o-matic my favored video editor. Pros Very easy to use. Comes with plenty of cloud storage. Thanks to cloud processing, it can run on the most basic of computers, including Chromebooks. Cons Advanced editing features, which are now common in offline video editing programs, are still not available on WeVideo. For example: audio syncing, audio effects, copying effects between clips. The issue really is that there's no real growth allowed within this platform. I mean, for a YouTube Content Creator, you might be fine with this. Then again, you're probably gonna need to create snappier/fresher looking pieces than you'll be able to pull off here. Again, the ability to store where you are and what you're doing as well as all the components is a big plus (as long as you have a fast and dependable connection). Cons Since it's in the cloud, it's not as snappy as I'd hoped. In addition, you are reliant on the connection to be fast and dependable. Now most of us have that now, but still. A scary prospect sometimes. You're gonna be limited if you surpass the abilities you'll have available to you at the get go. Not a long term solution. For me anyway. Nice and simple interface with minimum editing capabilities. Great if you want to edit some vacation footage. Cons For professional editors it may seem a little basic, but even so you can get a good quality cut. " August 21, 2020 4.0 My wife is a schoolteacher. She signed up to do a couple of online classes that were all video-based instruction. She needed to video herself teaching and inject graphics and title slides to complete the project. Rather than set up an expensive software install for two videos, we decided to try WeVideo, as recommended by the school. We were pleased with the outcome and recommend you try it. Pros WeVideo is easy to deploy and the interface is pretty intuitive...especially if you've ever done video editing in a normal non-linear editing interface. It easily integrates multiple tracks of video, audio, overlays, transitions and comes with royalty-free background music pre-bundled. Great for quick productions where you don't have high-tech demands. Recommend you get the free version first to see if it meets your needs. You can upgrade incrementally as needed. Cons Because I've used full-featured non-linear editing suites in the past, there were times where I felt a bit "constrained" in the WeVideo interface. I figured out how to do MOST of what I would do normally, but this isn't an expensive, full-featured tool...it is for consumers to be able to create quick videos with transitions and multiple tracks without breaking the bank.
