We are conferences's organizer. During our events we need maybe 4 active servers, to host and to server between 5000 to 10,000 attendees. But once the tradeshow is over, we don't need such power in term of CPU/Memory. Clever-cloud has a native auto-scaling system that save a lot of cash. You pay only for what you consume. Pros Clever-cloud is a simple platform as a service solution we've been using for the Devoxx conferences since 2016. We deploy Java and Scala backend applications, with postgreSQL, Redis and Elasticsearch add-ons. The solution is very simple (basically, you do a git push to Clever-cloud and voilà). The tooling is good (you can use a CLI to deploy from your localhost or to fetch logs). What I like the most about Clevercloud is the Support team. They are always helpful and they can help you when you need. Cons It's not a Container as a Service solution. Cons I miss some ways to deployment software in 'dev' envrionement, espacially for PHP. I would like to be able to configure my deployment for a target environement (prod, dev, test ...). The main bottleneck for PHP is that by default the deployment process install Composer dependancies without the flag --dev. June 22, 2020 5.0 Great overall experience, I recommend Clever Cloud for all my new projects now! Pros Super easy integration and setup: deploying multiple applications with a database is really quick and the documentation is helpful and up-to-date. Also, vertical and horizontal scaling is very easy to configure and you'll pay only what you've used. Cons The database pricing which is separated from the credits: I would like to pay only for credits, and that the database, which is invoiced each month, use my credits to be paid. It would avoid me multiple transactions, especially when using a currency that is not Euro. Pros Clever Cloud simplifies the infrastructure management process and my team can deliver projects at a faster pace. The ability of the platform and the built-in monitoring offer a decent measure of security. Cons I have found rare cases of slight lag on the horizontal scaling events in cases of abrupt, steep traffic increases. Review Source François D. Vos besoins spécifiques sur des serveurs tiers avec une architecture particulière que nous avions déconseillée, ont été incompatibles avec notre plateforme. Nous avons fait tout les efforts pour résoudre les instabilités en acceptant ce risque avec vous. Nous avons hélas échoué à être au niveau de vos attentes. Ainsi nous vous avons proposé de prendre à notre charge une grande partie de votre facture, ce qui fut accepté. Les factures contestées sont celles que vous aviez accepté de payer à l'amiable. Nous regrettons que vous les contestiez désormais pour ensuite porter atteinte à notre réputation anonymement. With a lot of ease Pros The dev product made by devs, for devs. It feels awesome to use it and made us drop many unneeded systems: - specific machines for deployment - slow pipelines - high aws data transfer costs - ... Cons The sluggish UI, sometimes does not load, some workarounds to do to integrate with the cc build. It allows me to focus on my code and not worry about handling downtimes. Cons Setting up the build pack needs a bit of work, but once it's done, it works great. Reason for choosing Clever Cloud The hassle of maintaining an uptime isn't worth it. It's something Clever Cloud does well and it's more peace of mind.
