### "UserTesting Review"

January 28, 2020

4.0

Love it and have recommended it to friends in the same field.

Pros

First and foremost their customer service and feedback is beyond anything I have seen. If I run a user test and there is an error not only will they get back to me in real time, they will walk you through what caused the error so you can avoid it in the future. As for the product itself it took me about a day to feel like a power user, its very intuitive and is such a welcoming UI.

Cons

Every once and a while prototypes using adobe XD will cause about 5% of testers to load a prototype that does not work.

Alternatives considered

They had the best customer feedback and responses. They were always available to chat and walk us through anything we did not understand.

### "Very easy to use and better than competitor platforms used."

June 15, 2022

5.0

Very positive experience, easy to use and the tests are often completed within 24-48 hours.

Pros

Being able to playback videos that include a view of the user's screen as well as a webcam view of their face makes watching the videos engaging. But the best thing is the ease at which you can set up tests and set quotas and screening criteria.

Cons

The dashboard playing back the data is a bit clunky and the data requires a bit of tidying up once exported into excel (data is presented across multiple worksheets and requires combining).

Reason for choosing UserTesting

These platforms only offered pay per test/tester models which wouldn't have suited our finance team. Usertesting allows a good volume of testing to be done for one annual charge.

### "Best platform for website and app testing "

April 17, 2022

3.0

My overall experience with Usertesting is excellent.

Pros

The best thing about usertesting is that it pays much better than other testing sites like utest or testlio. It pays 10$ for some simple tests which require just 10-15 minutes. There are some tests in which we need to attend live discussions and those tests pay 30-90$ which is excellent. Another thing I like about usertesting is that step by step instructions are given for every tests due to which it is easier for persons who are new to testing. Also, the payment gets processed within a week or 10 days. Apart from that, the User Interface of the desktop website and the app is pretty good.

Cons

The thing I dislike about usertesting is that the notification system is not good. In order to get new tests, one must keep the browser or the app open, else we miss the test opportunities. I find this thing quite annoying.

### "Amazing tool"

December 10, 2020

5.0

Pros

I guess the tool overall is very easy to use, you'll find your test have participants assigned in less than 20/30 min or around 2 hours for live conversation moderated tasks. The team at Usertesting is also amazing and always willing to help out.

Cons

there are a few things that need improvement, but these are very small things and mostly on new functionalities that are being worked on.

Reason for choosing UserTesting

### "A Consistent and Valuable Platform for Detail-Oriented Testers"

September 29, 2025

5.0

I've been a freelance usability tester on UserTesting for over three years. It's a legitimate site, well organized and provides genuine opportunities to earn money by providing actionable feedback to companies looking to improve their digital products. The work is engaging and perfect for those with an analytical mind and strong attention to detail.

Pros

Engaging Work: There are always varying tasks that are interesting. This allows you to test anything from websites, to apps, of all sorts of sectors, keeping the work from becoming monotonous. Skill Development: It sharpens your ability to analyze usability design significantly. And hones your skills in pattern recognition and providing structured, data-driven feedback. User-Friendly Interface: The platform itself is very intuitive. The entire process is very straightforward, from recording tests to submitting reports. Reliable Payments: Payments are processed automatically and reliably every week via paypal. You always know when to expect your earnings. Impactful Feedback: It's rewarding to know that your detailed insights are directly used by developers and designers to create better user experiences.

Cons

Inconsistent Test Availability: Inconsistency of available tests. You can qualify for a bunch of tests one week then the next week not qualify for even one, making it unreliable as a sole source of income. High Disqualification Rate: You often spend more time on screening questionnaires only to be disqualified, rather than actually taking tests. In a whole hour you might qualify for one or two on a good day, which can be frustrating. A more intelligent matching system would be beneficial. Payment Can Feel Low for Effort: While the payment is fair, when you factor in the time spent on screeners and the detailed feedback required for a 15-20 minute test, the effective hourly rate can be lower than it initially appears. Limited Direct Communication: There is little to no direct collaboration with the clients. You provide your feedback into a void and rarely see the outcome or get to discuss your insights further.

### "Why? User Testing needs improvement"

July 9, 2021

3.0

It needs a lot of improvement specifically in the mobile version and is doing great otherwise, is the best thing in the market

Pros

The screen recording, the capturing of all the things necessary to perform the tests, and also the switching between test app and User testing

Cons

Has many bugs which don't let me test and create confusion leading to test rejection by users

### "Real user feedback to founder who are problem-solvers, and who like to validate their ideas early."

July 30, 2025

5.0

UserTesting saved us from releasing a feature that people didn’t understand. That has made our research more reliable and way more efficient.

Pros

I love how fast we can launch tests and get unfiltered feedback. It's been priceless to see where users are confused, or where they hesitate before allocating dev resources.

Cons

It’s not cheap, and some of the responses can feel hurried or low-effort, unless you vet participants well.

### "A Great Side-Gig Income Where You Can Use Your Laptop, Desktop, Tablet, iPad, And/Or iPhone"

April 26, 2022

5.0

Pros

I love the fact that that there are so many variety of test one can take in order to earn money. It's usually $10 a test, but the more you take the more it adds up. There are times when more compensation is offered, but again it's usually $10 per test; the rule of multiplication comes in when you use more than one device. With the opportunity to also use your own devices from home or remotely (as long as it's quiet in the background), you can use your desktop, laptop, tablet (if allowed), iPad, and/or iPhone. I believe drones can be used now, though I'm not exactly sure.

Cons

Two main disadvantages are that you're not going to qualify for every test. Some tests are based on region, age, gender, if you have certain devices, if you have a certain version software on the device, etc. That's given so it's best to keep your devices and software updated. When you're updating your devices and would like to get back to the test in order to complete it, that's where the problem lies. They should have it where you're able to return to the test in order to complete it.

### "UserTesting Review"

March 24, 2020

5.0

Overall, I like Usertesting's communication with testers who are using their app and website. They are able to get back to you as soon as they can. The app may crash at times which can be annoying, but they give out frequent tests and is the most used website. I would continue to use their app and website. I just wish some of the crashes were fixed.

Pros

I like the app a lot. The design of the app is very sleek. The functionality works good where I do not have many problems with it when it comes to tapping on the menu or when I receive tests. I am able to communicate with Customer Support fairly fast and they are able to compensate when it comes to finding bugs at times. They also have an option where you can check to see other tests on the laptop / desktop which they can allow you to test multiple devices. You do get paid to take their tests and they are very good about giving payment. Though, it may take a little longer to receive at times.

Cons

There are times when the app takes a long time to open after receiving a test. There are other times while you are taking one of the tests which you received that there will be lag time for a minute when clicking on the plus sign. Once tapping on the plus sign on the app, it may freeze, and take awhile to get to another page they may request for you to use. Sometimes after you do that, the app crashes.

### "Probably the best User Testing platform on the market, honestly"

August 12, 2021

5.0

We're really easily able to add in a qualitative vetting layer in addition to our quantitative layer of measuring data and ensuring we're delivering products that meet peoples needs and ensure our success.

Pros

My favorite thing about user testing as a platform is its ability to generate insights in a short amount of time. The User testing team has built out an extensive network of testers all over the world to make sure that we can get access to those that are under our target audience and in a timely manner.

Cons

Occasionally we'll get a few participants who try to speed through and game the system by giving false responses to earn the incentive. This kind of thing is hard to control and is expected. The User testing team has always been good about swapping these sessions out to not impact our usage.

Reason for choosing UserTesting

Robust feature capabilities, and all-inclusive in the lifecycle of user testing.

### " User Review of App User Testing"

November 13, 2023

4.0

With testing 50 sites, I would say that except the issue above, the site it very good to use and very simple. Its not over complicated, therefore very easy to navigate. It gives you all the information you need, and I have found that when speaking to the clients, they are all very friendly, respectful and happy to listen

Pros

The dashboard is very easy to use. The tests pop up with a sound and you can work through the qualificaiton questions very easily. The admin area is also very easy to understand and use to tell you how much you have earnt and how much is pending.

Cons

The thing i dislike the most is that there have been a number of occasions whereby I have qualified for tests, both $10 and $60 ones and when I qualify for it, it suddenly tells me the test has expired and I miss out on the oppertunity to earn because of a buggy dashbaord.

### "Nice and easy way to get some reward while helping companies"

May 24, 2018

4.0

Pros

I like these kind of cooperation websites where you can help companies test their websites and you also get some compensation in return. With UserTesting, you just need to create an account and you get notified whenever a new testing is available for you. Sometimes you need to answer some screening questions first to see if you are a match for the test. These questions can be related to where you live or from where you are from, most of the time. If your answers are a match you can then move forward to the test. They are all different, as it will depend on what a given client needs to check. So it can go from browsing the Internet to look for a potential present for your best friend, to trying to find some specific information from a given website. Your screen is being recorded during the whole process and you need to speak your thoughts out loud so that the client knows what comes to your mind while you are performing the test. There are no right or wrong answers as it's just what a normal user would do. If you complete the test successfully (that is you get to the end and the recording and audio are uploaded successfully), then you get paid for it!

Cons

Sometimes you don't pass the screening questions, which can be frustrating. :) Also, since this works as a first-come-first-based basis, it can happen that the test is no longer available when you click on it. Otherwise, the platform works great and I love the idea behind it.

### "Possibly the best user testing application on the market"

March 6, 2022

4.0

I am a tester with UserTesting for approximately 2 years. As the founder of a small tech startup it does something very useful for me. I'm paid to do something I'd do for free anyway - i.e. practice how to test a wide range of software features and functions. UserTesting is a global service and while I don't know how many testers or clients they have, I'm impressed with their customer service. If I ever have a problem or issue and I submit a claim or message, they always respond within a short timescale.

Pros

UserTesting is easy to install, easy to use, has straightforward terms & conditions, and issues prompt payment to its testers. There is a clear and accurate reporting dashboard for testers, which keeps a comprehensive record of all testing done.

Cons

There are a couple of features that could be improved. Occasionally a test does not load correctly (roughly 5% of the time). It is not possible to add a comment after a test has been submitted, though it would sometimes be useful to do so.

### "User testing helped us to provide real insights for our products."

February 28, 2021

5.0

We have used many testing platforms but User testing is one of the best one which allowed us to create tasks for the testers and to know their feedback about our websites and their testers provide us very helpful feedback and corrections that are needed in our website, overall user testing is really good platform for us.

Pros

One of the best features of user testing is that we can create Number of tasks for testers. we can add multiple choice and text based questions. it provides us real feedback from their experienced testers, which is always helpful before launching our product. their feedback and queries are true and helpful if we need to make any changes to our program.

Cons

There is not much like a disadvantage of using usertesting, it is bit expensive but i think the feedback from the testers worth the expense so it is very good.

### "Amazing"

January 29, 2020

How can you build a product or service that meets the needs of your customers... if you never bother to ask those customers what their needs are? UserTesting is a platform that allows you to interact with the people who matter the most -- the people using your product or service -- and gather valuable insights regarding how they feel about what you're building for them. From simple design preference tests to in-depth moderated studies, UserTesting allows you to place the customer where they belong: at the center of everything you do.

Pros

Huge pool of users across the globe and especially Canada. This saves me time and I have never had to wait more than a few hours to get my tests back. User Testing is high quality, very legitimate, very steady and always have tests that have a decent payout

Pros

typically when I sign in to User testing or sent to my email is a current list of test for the reviewer to take. Some of these tests a reviewer may qualify some but not all tests. A test requirement may be Country specific, require a certain User Testing level of experience or other test case requirements.

Cons

Honestly, I wish I would have discovered UserTesting years ago. It's a great way to earn supplemental income testing websites and apps. Simply voice your experience testing a website and submit your review. You must monitor your dashboard constantly in order to get first dibs on most tests. The only drawback is not qualifying for many of the tests because the are catering to a specific demographic.

Pros

Once the program is installed it's very simple to get started reviewing and testing websites. They pay promptly to your paypal account every 7 days. Good technical support is available if needed.

Cons

You might not qualify for all the tests available, so you have to be diligent in checking for new tests.
