### "This site is aweful"

December 12, 2024

1.0

Horrible, you do not get what you pay for. This company is a monopoly, and it should be illegal to be this bad and charge as much as you do! It takes me twice as long to finish a chapter just because I get logged out, and it takes 10 mins to log back in. PPPPLLLLLLEEESSSEEE fix this website, I am begging you!!!!!

Pros

I like nothing about this site. It is a headache to use. Student want simple things that work, especially when we pay $1000s each semester for e-books and connect!

Cons

This whole site needs an upgrade. it logs you out every 20 minutes. it takes 10 mins to log back in. We pay entirely way to much every semester for this site to be this aweful. Please hire the people who work on salesforce to fix your site.

### "Decent but potentially expensive publisher content system"

March 28, 2025

4.0

As a vendor they can be a bit aggressive about pushing their product to higher ed institutions...I get it because that's how they make money.

Pros

Helps our instructors provide interactive activities for their course subject materials.

Cons

The potential prohibitive cost of student adoption

### "Honest review of McGraw Hill"

August 13, 2024

3.0

I think it is a great tool, but the actual courses provided need to be improved.

Pros

I liked how easily it integrated with canvas. It made it easy to connect with the classroom and access assignments.

Cons

I didn't like the courseware provided, it was not the best quality and often found easy ways to cheat and didn't require much thinking which caused me to fail several courses.

### "Mcgraw hills system is trash "

October 24, 2024

1.0

My overall experience was trash and a waste of time. The book access is okay but the assignment system is trash and I have to put up with them for the rest of the semester. I hope that OU switches to something else other than this trashy system.

Pros

That I could at least work on my assingments there.

Cons

I hate it. Because everytime I try to do my assignments on there it zaps out because they claims that the connection is down even though my wifi connection is there. Colleges should not use Mcgraw hill connect ever because it cannot make up it's mind between it wanting to work or not. Also if I could rate it zero stars I would because I took my accounting exam last Friday and the amount of times I had to log back in on a TIMED TEST is insane. Please get your act together or you will go bankrupt.

### "Connect is near worthless to me"

September 16, 2024

1.0

This is the second class connect was so bad it dropped my grade. This system is worthless. If your school uses it I feel sorry for you. My only option is to drop the class and possibly find a college that doesn’t use this software

Pros

When I shut my computer and turn off their program

Cons

Customer support is terrible. Call goes to Philippines with no help. Instant chat took 20 minutes before they got to me. Then they told me they couldn’t help me. Video so low volume even support couldn’t hear it. Told me to use closed captions to do my homework.

### "Probably the Worst E-Learning Tool I've Used."

September 25, 2024

2.0

Bad. Find somewhere that doesn't use this money-hungry company and save yourself hours of work that could be done in less than 30 minutes. <3

Pros

It's visually appealing I guess, although for the price you pay... Sure, whatever.

Cons

Price-Absolutely ridiculous. Should not be this expensive for a e-book that expires. Concepts/Assignments- Incredibly tedious. Practically holds you at gunpoint until you answer the same exact question at least 4 times, and then does it again with every. Single. Question. I think I'd rather light myself on FIRE than spend another 4 hours doing 2 assignments with poorly-worded questions and absolutely ZERO feedback.

### "Ease of Use is Great"

November 15, 2024

4.0

Pros

I liked that it was simple to use and administer to students.

Cons

Oftentimes, too many questions were included on these practice exams, which would take students too long to complete. No problems with the software itself.

### "McGraw-Hill Connect - One of the Better LMS Integrations"

November 15, 2018

4.0

MH-Connect, by far, provides the best customer service from my experience.

Pros

McGraw-Hill Connect (or MHConnect) provides one of the best LTI integrations with Canvas, our institution's LMS. The MHConnect interfaces allows you to create assignments, quizzes, and exams and then sync them with Canvas. When students participate in these activities, they do so through the MHConnect interface, and then their scores are passed back to the Canvas grade book. We have multiple publisher integrations in our instance of Canvas. McGraw-Hill Connect continuously provides the most stable connection with little need for support. But when we do need support, we're able to resolve things very quickly with an actual person over the phone.

Cons

The interface for MHConnect could use a major refresh that includes enhancing the intuitiveness of performing key functions. For example, after creating assignments, quizzes, and exams, it's not immediately apparent that the instructor needs to then deploy those items to Canvas. It's frequently assumed that because their Canvas course is already linked to their MHConnect course, anything created will be automatically synced with Canvas. Also, changing certain settings for a course in MHConnect needs to be better communicated to the instructor.

### "In the Classroom"

September 24, 2022

3.0

Overall, I have found McGraw-Hill Connect an added bonus in my classroom and beyond.

Pros

I like that it allows my students to practice being practice and helps guide them towards becoming a more proactive individual, even as young as nine years old.

Cons

The only area that I would like to see a slight change is the progress reporting area. I would like to be able to focus on different areas of students learning at different times of the year.

### "Connecting with students towards a more holistic education"

December 25, 2022

4.0

I am satisfied with the product. It makes the job easy and organised.

Pros

It's fairly easy to use and intuitive. It gives us an organised platform in which we can build our courses.

Cons

It is relatively costly, it may not be possible to afford it in low income countries.

### "Want the best Medical Office - Billing and Coding software - for College students? Look no further.."

October 9, 2020

5.0

I am moving as many courses and resource materials to MMGH so I can use Connect in as many classes as possible. I believe all my SP21 courses are set up with MMGH and will be using Connect. They also have a medical office simulation (game) that students can mimic the exact duties and responsibilities they will be doing in the Medical Office in this software and can get grading information on their work and progress. :)

Pros

Textbook, Assignments from the textbook, Workbook, Workbook assignments from the workbook are in this software. No need to purchase a printed book and wait to get it. Everything coincides with the text and/or workbook you use from McGraw-Hill. All Instructor resources are right at hand. I can add, change, delete, hide, upload, download almost anything out of or in to Connect.

Cons

Getting started process for Instructors. Getting the students, especially the ones that are new to the Medical Office environment, up and running in the first class time. Did not work the first two semesters I used Connect but since then is not so bad. Just big learning curve already and then add having to try and help the students get started was overwhelming.

Reason for choosing McGraw-Hill Connect

Had already used it before I started setting up my SP21 courses and knew I did not want to have to learn a new software and two or three different software to learn and keep up with going forward. Before I started this process for SP21 I did not use any outside vendor software until around FA17.

### "Test Bank Nightmare"

January 23, 2024

3.0

It's made me consider my preference between it and the other side of a 12 gauge slug.

Pros

I dislike McGraw-Hill connect very much. It tests on reading comprehension and endurance more so than actual content.

Cons

The smart book assignments have a limited amount of concepts covered. Instead of application of class concepts, it is more a test of reading comprehension, and attention span. I do not feel that these need to be a long, and could stand to be more varied. It would be appreciated if the concepts matched up to the quizzes. The homework is much less busy, and multiple attempts have helped me consolidate the correct way to approach certain problems. Again, it suffers from narrow focus on conceptual spread when compared with quizzes.

### "Connect"

December 29, 2022

5.0

The benefits are syncing student assignment scores to D2L as well as seeing how much time a student spends on each assignment and students receive immediate feedback on their results.

Pros

That is sync's the assignment grades in Connect to your school's learning management system such as D2L.

Cons

Nothing is missing or difficulty to use. It works well with our learning management system (D2L) and was easily adopted.

### "Top notch study material "

May 4, 2021

5.0

Pros

This software is probably the best study material to use for a classroom setting. I’m able to have to etext on an app on my phone as well as being able to access it from my desktop. Another thing I liked is the explanations that were given for each problem rather than just the answers being given.

Cons

One thing that could be improved is when you click to see the report of a completed assignment it would be simpler if it took you straight to that specific report but instead it takes you a list of all the reports and then you have to find the specific report you want.

### "McGraw-Hill for online teaching"

March 31, 2021

so far I had good experience, highly recommend for online homework and quizzes especially if you are teaching a larger classes.

Pros

I like their presentations and assignments, it is very easy to design a quiz and exams using this software. Straight forward to use, it is very helpful to my students and their performance in exams have improved after using McCraw-Hill

Cons

software is definitely helpful for students, however the price is little expensive, students often complain about it.

### "Extra Practice for students "

March 3, 2019

4.0

Student performance has gone up because they are able to access material and resources while not in the classroom. McGraw-Hill has a plethora of resources available for teachers and students for every subject offered.

Pros

Teachers are able to customize quizzes and assignments to fit what is needed for their particular group of students and class. Students have study tools and interactive modules to help understand material more fluently. Teachers can view reports so they can alter their teaching style and approach.

Cons

McGraw-Hill could use some updating to the appearance of the interface. It looks like it hasn't been changed. There is difficulty with connecting it as a third-party application. There is not a clear or simple way for students to communicate with their professor within McGraw-Hill. There needs to be better and more accessible versions such as for mobile devices to encourage use-on-the-go.

### "Connecting with McGraw-Hill Connect "

January 25, 2019

4.0

Overall I love the software. Our K-6 ELA teachers use it daily in the classroom as their main ELA resource. The students love that they can log in and complete assignements assigned to them by their teacher.

Pros

I love that McGraw-Hill Connect made it easy for teachers to add the product license themselves for the teacher book and the student book. Teachers are also able to setup their own account.

Cons

i can say the only thing I don’t like about McGraw-Hill Connect software is the process for uploading students into the program. You have to use a excel template to type certain login credentials for each student. This process is okay on the front in of setting up your student accounts but we get several new students a month and it would be easier to just type those few students information directly into the program instead of completing the excel template and then waiting for it to upload.

### "The worst software I have ever attempted to use"

September 19, 2022

1.0

The worst experience with online learning I have ever been forced to endure. This product fails at every level - especially when held up to other main stream options. Horrible, Terrible, No GOOD- Worst product

Pros

I am in my 6th semester of online learning. I have used everything under the sun. This is the worst platform in terms of functionality, accessibility, cost, ease of navigation, speed and buffering, seriously you name it...literally every relevant aspect of the user experience- are ALLL SUBPAR.

Cons

I didn't like a single thing about it. It was horrible, I cringe at the thought of giving you scum bags my money. You are not worth my time or effort-

### "Good Digital Resource Platform - But Could Make A Lot Of Improvements"

May 22, 2020

4.0

In a time where access to digital materials is a must-have, Connect does the job - but doesn't go above and beyond.

Pros

As a teacher, I like that I can transform my classroom with the digital textbooks as resources available in Connect that accompany my print materials. Our school has setup automatic class rostering so it is great that I do not need to manage student user accounts or set up classrooms and add students. However, compared to some of its publisher competitors that I also utilize, it is way behind the curve in terms of function and UI.

Cons

The user-interface within Connect (both from a teacher and student user) could use some major upgrades. It seems that very little resources are put into the system and/or they are not utilizing user feedback to improve the product.

### "Good, but not great"

September 11, 2019

4.0

I like this software a lot. My class uses it 2-3 times a week. There was recently a hiccup that wiped out all of my previous plans, so I'm having to sort through ALL the things again. It's really a pain. They make it easy for kids to log-in via a computer or tablet browser using "simplified log-in". It would be better if they could also use the app with simplified log-in, but as it stands, it's either app w/ complicated log in, or tablet browser with easy log-in. I hear the app is buggy, but I don't really use that because it's easier for first graders to use simplified log-in.

Pros

I love the options & diversity of materials included in this software - games, review, lessons, etc. I love that parents/students can access these at home and use them as review.

Cons

Deleting things on your planner is the biggest pain - it's all right click here and confirm there. I love all the materials, but there's got to be an easier way to get rid of lessons/activities that you don't want. Also, I really dislike that so many of the activities have almost the same name, even if they're different activities.

### "Fantastic resource with a lot of hidden gems. "

August 25, 2019

5.0

Pros

Overall, it is a highly valuable resource for both students and instructors alike. It allows users to have remote access to the text that is used in the classroom if they are not able to access a copy of the textbook. There are also multimedia resources and quizzes available for some texts/resources. I loved using this in some of my university courses.

Cons

It can be a little challenging to navigate as a new user. I also think that a lot of instructors are unaware of the full resources that are available to their students. Some of the resources can seem a little “hidden” at first but once you’ve used it a couple of times you can unlock its full potential.

### "Next generation of textbook-higher education integration; whether you like it or not"

August 1, 2019

3.0

It's the future of higher education. It's only going to get better. The question is whether the price will be worth it for what is essentially supplemental features.

Pros

Using the McGraw-Hill Connect with an online biochemistry course, I could see that the company took a lot of effort to pack innovative features to not only supplement the paper textbook but to advance what publishers can do for higher education. These advancements include dynamic quizzes, bookmark syncing, supplemental animations for individual topics/chapters, etc. It's really jam-packed with resources that are organized in an intuitive way. It's also a web-based platform. I didn't have any trouble accessing Connect through a PC or Mac which was nice. Customer service replied quickly and intelligently to any issues I had regarding subscription periods and key redemptions.

Cons

The cost. I understand a considerable amount of investment is needed to curate and manage these online resources. But as schools are moving toward open source content in response to student backlash against rising textbook prices, it makes it more difficult to swallow an online subscription that will be gone compared to a physical textbook that can be resold. Granted - having the online component is much more convenient and an effective learning tool. But the price needs to come down.
