### "McGraw-Hill Connect "

August 5, 2019

4.0

Pros

This software is great for professors and students to communicate and submit assignments. I have been using this software since freshman year of college and have gotten very used to the functions. It is easy to use and your book is programmed online with your access code.

Cons

Textbooks are expensive, especially books with access codes so sometimes as a college student I try to avoid buying straight through the site.

### "Not inclusive or accommodating "

July 5, 2023

1.0

Customer service employees are not stationed in the United States and have never used the program themselves. Tech support was unable to help with my issues because they just follow a script. You're unable to cut and paste from the text. The reader only works part of the time and always starts back at the beginning of the page if you have to pause. Times out frequently and does not save the place in reading. I can't use external extensions during the program like Read&Write or pull it up in two separate pages. I'm having to purchase a separate copy of the book and since none of my disabilities accomodations work with this program, I'll need to spend twice the time as other students finishing assignments. It's really really awful and should be banned in the United states.

Pros

So far nothing it sucks completely there's nothing good I have to say

Cons

This program makes it nearly impossible for students with learning disabilities to pass a class.

### "Real Time Hybrid or Virtual Courses"

September 2, 2020

5.0

Pros

Lessons come alive and content takes on different shapes and forms. McGraw-Hill offers a rich directory and database of information ranging from audio files to quizzes, PowerPoint lectures and so much more. It is a gem for any Humanities-based courses, such as Speech. The components provide a rich array of opportunities for classwork and team activities. Resourceful and practical!

Cons

No cons to report to date. The platform is relatively easy to adapt and integrate. I have been incorporating this valuable resource into my classes for years to the delight of my students.

### "Adaptive Learning with McGraw-Hill Connect"

July 30, 2019

5.0

In my Success Strategies course, the Smartbook within McGraw-Hill Connect guides the students' learning to specific, targeted concepts and terms of importance, similar to the role of a teacher. Smartbook has tailored students learning with an individualized and focused approach. This has been helpful in providing supplemental resources and learning to my students.

Pros

McGraw-Hill Connect provides students with learning opportunities and meeting them where they are. The learning materials, such as practice assignments, videos, and quizzes, allows students to review the content and adapts to their level of understanding.

Cons

For the past couple of years, McGraw-Hill Connect assignment grades does not automatically sync to my Brightspace D2L course, so I have to manually go into McGraw-Hill Connect and force the sync to my course.

### "Online Curriculum"

July 10, 2020

4.0

Overall it is nice to have Connect with the curriculum as I find myself accessing Connect the majority of the time instead of using the physical curriculum.

Pros

Connect allows curriculum users to access not just the textbook online, but added worksheets, presentations, interactives, and more.

Cons

The Connect mobile app needs some updates as the UI is sluggish and outdated, making it not worth the install.

### "All-encompassing software"

July 7, 2022

4.0

Pros

Easy to use as a student for different subjects and linking textbook codes and access codes for multiple courses at a time

Cons

Clunky at the time of use -- felt like it needed better integration of Java/HTML coding to make the switches more seamless

### "Good for Homework and Extra Work"

July 10, 2020

4.0

Good for practice but would be hesitant to use for graded material because of the user error issues.

Pros

I use this feature to assign homework or extra practice work to my students. It works for most units and topics.

Cons

Some units/topics are difficult when working with McGraw Hill Connect where answers are marked incorrectly or students have difficulty submitting answers in general.

### "McGraw-Hill Connect"

November 27, 2019

3.0

McGraw-Hill Connect has made it easier to complete homework assignments and I get instant feedback.

Pros

I like that I can access all of my textbooks and the homework usually has help, but the questions are generic so I can normally get help from some resource.

Cons

I do not like how frequently it seems like the software is being updated and the ease of use for using the textbooks could be better.

### "Connect"

October 6, 2020

5.0

Overall, I like it. It can be a bit expensive, but no more so than a textbook, and it can be used for more than one course (if they use the same textbook).

Pros

I love using connect for my classes. The Smartbook feature gives a great introduction to the chapter, and the software allows for a seamless transition between the book and the assignment.

Cons

Sometimes, if the settings aren't exactly right, the professors have trouble understanding what the students can and can't see on their end, so there is a bit of a disconnect there.

### "Teacher Directed Reading Tool"

October 29, 2019

5.0

McGraw-Hill Connect has been great to use in my classroom.

Pros

I have been using this software for around 8 years. I absolutely love it! I have used it in 3rd, 4th and 1st grades. It has enhanced my TDR lessons greatly. The vocabulary games, stories and poems really get my students engaged in the lesson.

Cons

I cannot think of any cons at this time.

### "Good supplement for students."

May 6, 2018

5.0

Pros

As an educator it does a good job of being user-friendly and easy to understand for students to navigate. Students can access practice tests, interactive and assignments. I really like having a digital copy of each textbook available. I use it to supplement my curriculum.

Cons

There are times where Connect has technical issues. It does not have an integrated LMS service which would enhance its appeal for teachers. Sometimes the info is not as current as I would like.

### "Very costly for students and if you use the e-book you can't keep any material"

January 10, 2022

2.0

bad experiences

Pros

this platform can be used to give quizzes and exams to students and for the them to the e-book

Cons

expensive and not user friendly a lot of the "practice" don't pertain to the actual reading used by institutions to give tests, when they can utilize their current platforms instead of paying extra

I am able to pursue a higher education by using McGraw-Hill Connect and I appreciate the simplicity of the tools available to me.

Pros

### "A good tool that is still a work in progress "

September 12, 2019

4.0

The software is useful for review learning and for short weekly practice quizzes. Customer service has been excellent, prompt and knowledgeable.

Pros

The adaptive learning aspect works well. It helped many students learning the content and pass the class with a good grade (B+-A). Once the instructor becomes familiar with all the functionalities, it is a valuable analysis tool.

Cons

The use of the software is not intuitive. Many extra steps are required to perform simple tasks such as copying courses from one quarter to the next. The date and time tool does not work consistently. Integration and synchronization with the learning management system can be erratic leading to panicked emails from students. There is no way to enroll as a student. Student preview is not enough to troubleshoot students' problems.

### "Should consider being a little more affordable."

September 30, 2019

4.0

I like it but I do see a problem with how much it costs. It should consider that not every students can afford it and offer various other opportunities that are less pricey.

Pros

We used these to instruct in our regular classes as well as for after school tutoring programs. The supplemental material is informative and interactive. It also displays well on overheads and projectors.

Cons

The price makes it very difficult for students to be motivated to get it. The grading system can also be a little more difficult - I wish it was easier to integrate into our regular grading software.

### "Many issues, rarely worked"

December 19, 2019

1.0

Overall, my experience with the software has been negative. However, I have had positive experiences with the customer support team.

Pros

Connect serves as a way for me to do my homework and ensure it makes it to my professor, and that's where the usefulness ends.

Cons

Connect has frequent connectivity issues, will reset quizzes and the like, doesn't sync with Blackboard in a reliable way, and that is just the tip of the iceberg in regards to issues I've had. I, and many students like myself, would rather do homework longhand rather than fight with Connect.

### "As a student, I am not a huge fan of McGraw-Hill Connect"

December 8, 2019

4.0

If we forget the price, McGraw-Hill Connect provides a good student experience. Unfortunately, for those of us who prefer paper textbooks, this platform does not lend itself to that community. I'd avoid it if possible.

Pros

Connect, for better or worse, does provide the best online textbook experience. Connect summarizes chapters nicely, it provides good study guides and the overall design is sleek. If you are forced to use an online textbook, this is a good platform to do it on.

Cons

The price is just ridiculous, at least from a student's perspective. Connect has completely gotten rid of the used textbook market, and considering that content does not change a lot from year to year, McGraw-Hill has capitalized on expiring licenses more than anything else.
