## What is Calcs.com?

Calcs.com (formerly ClearCalcs) is structural engineering calculation software that keeps every input, formula, and code reference visible inside the calculation. Reviewers inspect the logic instead of trusting a number. Design and check the whole structure, from the roof down to the foundations. Beams, columns, frames, footings, connections, retaining walls, and full load paths run across 200+ standards-aligned calculators, in metric or imperial units. Coverage includes US (IBC, AISC, ACI, NDS), Australia and New Zealand (AS/NZS), Canada (NBCC), and Eurocode. Calculators are updated when the standards change, so nobody is tracking amendments in a spreadsheet. Load linking carries reactions between connected members. Change a load at one level and the rest of the load path updates, with the trail still visible. Reports export with inputs, assumptions, and code references attached. It has been a great time saver. I always spent about 50% of the time to design the framing but with ClearCalcs I can run through framing calculations in no time.

Pros

ClearCalcs has everything you need to design your project. Modules include lumber, steel, cold form steel, column design, Foundation design , etc. It has made my calculations effortless. The link function is especially helpful to track the loads. No more running through hand calculations to find the loads.

Cons

I cannot say that I dislike anything about ClearCalcs. Every so often I run into problems but the technical support is great. I usually resolve the issue quickly.

Excellent. It gives me what I'm looking for, and the interaction with the personnel has been helpful and professional.

Pros

I appreciate the detail that the program offers, and the flexibility to work with a variety of different materials. Thorough explanations of data fields are given, and the staff is committed to thoughtful answers to questions that I have.

Cons

Sometimes a program's greatest strength can be a weakness, and sorting through the details of the program can take some time, but that's a minor issue.

Had an engineering firm for 32 years with 14 employees in different disciplines and expensive software (AutoCAD, Revit, StruCalc, etc.) for special areas. ClearCalcs provides a great tool for foundation, framing, retaining walls, etc. of residential and light commercial buildings. It is a great tool to allow a small engineering firm to do projects that a large firm can't do cost effectively. With some more basic CAD capabilities it would be even better. I see ClearCalcs as a niche product for smaller (1 - 50 ) engineering firms; not really meant for high rise major commercial building projects. Please keep going the direction that I have experienced with you.

Pros

Ease of use is very good and learning curve is short. Support has been great, and webinars are also a great way to learn more and obtain Continuing Education credits.

Cons

Sometimes a little difficult to find the right input for a design - the info buttons are helpful.

A nightmare!! \[sensitive content hidden\] was a complete failure !! and a waste of my time. I had to spend my weekend figuring out your software so I can get my report.

Great customer care

Pros

It is relatively easy to use. There are layers to the program that allow you to transfer over for footings from ridge beams headers, pretty helpful.

The design engineering was real conservative

Cheap way to print calcs for a house project.

Pros

Not as good as enercalc in terms of easy use.
