Still overall very positive and I would continue to recommend customer.io to other marketing professionals

Pros

I’m still loving how easy it is to segment out audiences and schedule sins in the platform. Recent AI upgrades have also made work seamless.

Cons

I still wish there was a higher file, upload capacity and more video options for emails, but I understand that different platform have different limitations

The UI/UX was very user friendly and easy to use. You don't need any special training in order to be able to build sophisticated flows.

Pros

As a brand that has both a website and an app, Customer.io combined everything we needed to send customer journey messages across various channels: Push, in-app, email, and sms.

Cons

The pricing model didn't make sense for our growing company, as you pay for all the contacts in your account, regardless of if they're active or not.

Customer.io is a powerful marketing automation platform. It lets us build data‑driven campaigns across email, SMS, push, and more with fine control and smart triggers. It’s reliable and scalable, though it takes effort to master, and pricing can be steep for newcomers.

Pros

Customer.io gives us complete control over messaging, email, SMS, push, in‑app, with smart workflows and segmentation based on real behavior. It’s configurable, reliable, and great for personalized customer journeys

Cons

The UI can feel overwhelming at first, especially for non‑technical users, searching for past messages or editing templates isn’t intuitive. Also, pricing and support has room to improve for smaller teams.

Very performant, highly configurable, but not the easiest UI for maintenance, configuration, or searching

Pros

Very configurable, good tracking of comms, including Human vs Machine Opened statuses on emails. Very reliable

Cons

It can be difficult to search for specific emails as the UI is not the most intuitive, especially for new users. Template editing is also not straightforward for non-power-users.

Pros

Low cost, good automation and search options. UI looks good, and no one on my team needed to look at documentation to use it. It was easy for our developers to connect Customer Io into our platform.

Cons

I feel like Keap does everything they do a bit better in terms of customizing options for a lower price. That being said Customer Io does look better and is easier to use.

I use it to manage email marketing for a multilingual e-commerce site. We have different dedicated areas on customer.io to manage the different languages. We use it mainly to send newsletters, and for the automation system, sending targeted emails to our prospects.

Pros

Cons

Perhaps the campaign model is a little more complicated to learn, but on the whole it's a complete and reliable system

Pros

It is very easy to use, even for someone who is just starting marketing or is not a professional.

Cons

The functionalities are quite limited when it comes to marketing and that was why I switched.

Pros

Customerio is generally fine, but the pricing structure doesn't work for us. Ordinarily, in this situation, we would just go with a different company, but we haven't found one that makes sense. They got us in on their startup program, but that is just a bandaid on their pricing model.

Pros

It can send emails based on actions triggered within our app.

Cons

The pricing structure. It assumes clients are B2B businesses, not B2C or e-commerce.

Reasons for choosing Customer.io

User interface and the ability to send emails triggered by in-app events.
