Pros The product is great and I have used it in previous version for years. It comes in handy when someone lost the original file and you can just create a version that can be edited from a PDF. I usually combine some PDFs and have to edit the bookmarks to make them in order. V21 so far a huge disappointment - submitted a complaint to customer service and after 2 days I've not re3ceived a response Pros V19 - clear attractive user interface, used mainly to convers .pdf to excel - easy and minimal editing required. Upgrade to V21 - So far nothing to like. Cons V21- very inaccurate conversion to .docx from scanned pdf files compared to V19. User interface looks very "old" compared to V19. Pros My focus is converting complex PDF's to Excel and PowerPoint files. The software has gotten better, more convenient, and faster over the very many years that I have owned their various versions. This latest version that I just got (Able2Extract Pro 19) has really replaced my need to use Acrobat Pro. I also just used their batch mode to go from PDF to excel on twenty-six 32 page files. As translators clients often provided material either from another platform or format. In order to ensure timely delivery, the copy has to be converted into a basic format conducive to seamless translation of copy. Cons Recently it has become necessary to couple Able2Extract with additional software to covert financial statements in PDF into a spreadsheet format without generating coded copy. Unfortunately, I have been able to successfully download the recommended software without an error message. Hence progress comes to a grinding halt. Reason for choosing Able2Extract Professional Years ago most conversion software addressed one format well then fell short in converting other formats. Able2Extract handled all my conversion needs. It saves time, rather than retyping or getting a word or excel original. I also create fillable pdf forms, rather than handwriting in the information. Pros The ability to convert docs from pdf and to create fillable pdf forms are two easy to use features. Cons Once converted to word the word doc contains format codes that need to be adjusted. This saves time as the documents are a great replication of the original but the opportunity to edit and even repurpose the original documents is there. When needing such functionality the program has proved to be robust and simple to work with. Able2 Extract does not interfere with you as a user but their team is available and responsive to my needs and or questions. The program development is not static and it is regularly updated whilst maintaining the "look". This diminishes the down time to learn the program at every stage of development. It saves us a lot of time. Cons My version works well for me but it's hard to maintain because it keeps getting upgraded. I like the version I have and want to be able to move it from computer to computer as I replace my computer but after a few years I have to contact customer support to get my version as the download is no longer available. I would like to have a CD or something so I could continually download the version I originally purchased whenever I get a new computer. However, please check with customer support first to see if we have your version available. Moreover and even better, is that we can always get you set up with the installation link for your version. However, I feel like it's moving away from data extraction and becoming more concerned with PDF annotation. While I don't mind, I certainly haven't noticed much change in data extraction between the versions I've used. I feel like 14 was the best version. The more recent versions have been slower or have put out more "garbage" data. Pros I love being able to extract my data into various file formats. I use the Excel feature the most. However, I love being able to export presentations and import them into powerpoint. Cons I've found that the software either does well, or doesn't do well.
