Pros

It's ease of use, the site layout is very simple and intuitive. Communication options with volunteers is great. Customer service is always quick and helpful.

Cons

The cost might be less attainable for small or new non-profits. Wishing Unison had an easy calendar integration with organization's websites.

Over the years, I tried Google Forms, Microsoft 365, and SurveyMonkey, but each required several steps to create forms and manage volunteer sign-ups. From the start, it was clear that Unison was built by people who understood the needs of both administrators and volunteers.

Pros

As the administrator, Unison was extremely easy to set up. My volunteers have found the sign-up interface very user-friendly.

Cons

The limitation that only ten Opportunities are allowed at any one time was confusing. Customer Service clarified that this meant a maximum of ten Opportunities could be up and running at the same time - not that there was a cap on the total number of Opportunities within a set period of time.

Such a useful tool! Our organization uses it every day to manage our volunteers and keep track of their hours of service.

Pros

Great support team! Everyone with Unison has been so helpful and ready to help tailor the product to our specific needs. It is affordable for our organization, and even the free version has many great features. No ads! Very user friendly.

Cons

The software is still in development so there are some features that still need some refining to work smoothly.

A wonderful discovery that has enabled us to more effectively leverage the power of volunteer engagement in our organization's mission.

Pros

Incredible value for the money. I work for a small, faith-based non profit. Up to this point we use the free version. I'm hoping we can upgrade in the future. But even the free version is so helpful in engaging volunteers successfully-- volunteers play a very impactful role in the success of our mission and work. The customer service has been quick and SO helpful. I find all the members of the Unison team so friendly and patient and helpful. I find it very user-friendly (I'm not technologically gifted). The volunteers who use it also respond very positively to their ease in using it.

Cons

There's not a lot! I wish we had the budget to upgrade so I can maintain more concurrent opportunities and schedules, etc. and I hope that is in our future!

Unison has completely replaced our messy spreadsheets and endless reply-all email chains. It is built perfectly for organizations like ours that rely on consistent, community-driven support but don't want to weigh down volunteers with heavy software. The interface is intuitive enough that even our less tech-savvy volunteers use it without any complaints. It helps us quickly fill spots and not have to worry about manually sending reminders or searching for subs.

Pros

What I love most about Unison is how friction-free the signup process is for our volunteers. They don't have to create an account or remember another password just to claim a time slot—they click a link and enter their name and email. From the coordinator side, having all signups housed in one spot is a game-changer. Plus, the built-in reminders, open position emails, and sub requests COMPLETELY eliminate the manual back-and-forth reminders and phone calls to get people to volunteer I used to spend hours on every week. I literally set up my schedule, send it out once, and forget it!

Cons

While the interface is incredibly clean, I would love to see even deeper custom reporting features. The current dashboard is great for immediate visibility, but expanding the custom filtering and reporting capabilities would make things easier.

This made our volunteer subbing SO MUCH BETTER. I feel like it is not intimidating for even our most technology-shy volunteers.

Pros

I love how easy it is to use. Especially the emails where I can plug tokens! I love that I can ask my volunteers to request their own subs.

Cons

There is not anything that comes to mind. Truly. This is so much more user friendly than our last platform.

As a very tiny nonprofit, we just need a few people each month to help us fulfil our mission. Unison is easy, quick, and beautiful. And, I have a record of who is involved!

Pros

It is free, there are no ads, and it is SO quick and easy to create and send out a schedule to my usual volunteers, or post in emails so new people can sign up. Volunteers have no trouble signing up, reminders go out automatically, and all I have to worry about is making sure that I keep an eye on the schedule.

Cons

Remembering to check to see if the spots are filled before an event. I am so grateful that they usually are!

I can't wait to use again for the next session of gymnastic carpool and in my Non-profit as we schedule biochar burns or classes. I love to see other organizations in my town that also started to use it like the kid's teachers for volunteer field trips or the sky club for races.

Pros

Unison saved me hours during the school year coordinating with other parents to carpool. We set it up once and I didn't have to do anything else or talk to the other 4 parents. We can also see online who volunteer that week. I like that it also sent me a reminder about my shift.

Cons

Banner lacks a gymnastics background. It would be helpful to recognize volunteer contributions with leaderboards or awards.
