Pros: Amazon S3 as short for simple storage service.
It is a secure object storage ideal for keeping files that are used be aws services like Athena, Elastic Map Reduce, etc. We can perform ETL Jobs written HIVE queries on the data stored in Amazon Athena supported formats on S3 directly. Which provide great performance on huge amount of data.
Amazon EMR is another service that treat S3 as a type of local storage means cost and time of read-write operations in same region is as low as possible resulting in faster Job execution.
S3 is another place where all other services store there logs. Having a negligible cost makes it ideal place to store a huge amount of files logs and other.

Cons: Amazon S3 is a object storage.
We can update a file/object stored in it only way to update a file is to download it make the changes and upload it by deleting the old one in other words overwriting it. Which generate unnecessary read-write network bandwidth when we have to update small change in a large file.
Another drawback is its maintaining versions of same file. we can do it but not as easy as other file storage systems.
Also i find no way to integrating it with my local system like OneDrive is integrated into windows making hard to transfer file in and out of the system.

Pros: S3 is absolutely an expert tool, and as such is incredibly powerful. We use S3 throughout our workflow in a bunch of different places, and it solves a number of problems for us wherever we need to put files online (whether temporarily or permanently). For certain types of hosting and usage, the pricing is so low you can essentially forget that it costs anything and throw whatever you want at it.

Cons: The level of complexity in S3 is quite high, so even a process like setting permissions on a bucket feels like passing through some sort of inscrutable bureaucracy to some degree. While many AWS users are likely domain experts, for the rest of us who lack the time (or inclination) to dedicate as much time to learning the system, S3 can have an extremely steep learning curve and some byzantine ways of doing things.

Pros: I love the flexibility of S3. At my company, sometimes my team needs to store small amounts of data, and sometimes we need to store huge amounts of data (multiple terabytes) depending on what type of client project we are working on. With S3 we can easily ramp up our storage capacity when necessary, but then scale it back down when we don't need it. It is way more cost effective than purchasing our own in-house storage that would sit near empty most of the time. I also like how the data can be accessed programatically or through the user interface, so that both the technical and non-technical members of my team can access it.

Cons: S3 was a pain to initially set up. It might be because I am new to cloud storage, but when I was tasked with setting up some buckets on S3 for my team I had to spend lots of time trying to figure everything out. Luckily though, with the help of Google I got the hang of things and was able to figure everything out. The documentation for S3 can definitely be improved.

Pros: It's easy to use, cost efficient (4 different cost models), secure ('11 nines' durability) and flexible. It's a building block of almost all serverless solution that you can dream of. You can store data, manage it retention using automatic lifecycle policy, inventory data (S3 Inventory) and run big data analytics directly on it (AWS Athena). You can even host your static website in Amazon S3. It's easy to integrate with almost all AWS services.

Cons: You can't run static web hosting using https without some additional services involved like CloudFront or Elastic Load Balancer.

Overall: Really secure, durable and elastic storage solution.

Pros: Amazon¿s Simple Storage Service (S3) is a game changer for our storage needs. The price is super cheap and it allows us to scale as we see fit. We do not have to worry about on-site storage solutions anymore and can have a peace of mind that data is stored and secure.

Cons: There was a steep learning curve to move all our existing data into S3. Also getting the engineering team to switch over was a hassle, but the documentation and services provided by AWS does make this process easier. One caveat to using this is that if you have updates to the files you have stored, you can only overwrite the file. You can¿t make in place updates to the files. This does cost a bit of read/write dollars (especially if it is a large file, with small update).

Overall: With the ease of use and the high availability provided by AWS. It is a no brainer to use AWS S3 as your cloud storage service. I would highly recommend this to all my organizations to adopt.

Pros: S3 is, in the grand scheme of things, rather straightforward (most of the time). More importantly, it's flexible enough to do exactly what it purports to do: Store file. Simply(-ish).

Cons: The developers at Amazon have a weird idea about what "simple" means. Backblaze B2 is a pretty good example of a much simpler solution, albeit without as much functionality and without much in the way of SDKs (as of writing this). If you've never used S3 before, it'll take you a little while to get your head wrapped around how it works.

Pros: It's easy to use, you can create buckets with ease and manage them. The space in AWS is actually cheap and the buckets can be encripted to add extra security to the data stored. It can be easily connected with other AWS options like Lambda or RDS to do a complete solution and can be accessed via code to retrive information when you need it.

Cons: The buckets can't be managed as I liked (like have folders of buckets) and when you have too many of them, it can get really messy. The library needed to use S3 in you code is somewhat heavy.

Overall: It helped the company to have an easy and low cost solution to the services we are providing to our costumers with the security we needed

Pros: S3 provides an incredibly low cost solutions with a lot of benefits. I love the flexibility and the fact that you can maintain your S3 solution using a Python API. It is super easy and cheap to host a basic static site from your S3 bucket as well. If you have never tried S3 then you have to.

Cons: Setting up the solution is complex and definitely mostly for technically strong individuals. The security aspect is especially complex.

Overall: Low cost storage to use for personal and business use.

Pros: Amazon s3 is secure and a stable platform. We use amazon s3 for to store our permanent data like DB backups, file uploads and all, its the cheap, easy to integrate and use cloud storage system. Our team absolutely rely on amazon s3.

Cons: There are no such cons of Amazon s3 except the fact that it recently crashed in 2017 due to a small mistake by their developer, It had huge impact on our system. Apart from that its amazing and highly recommended product.

Pros: A cost-effective way to host larger media. Once set up, the interface is easy to navigate and reliable. The uploading interface and feedback are outstanding and the best I have ever experienced. Their rates are extremely competitive.

Cons: There is a learning curve when you are getting it set up and you have to be willing to pay if you need even the most basic support from a human. Considering what they charge, this is reasonable.

Pros: I really like S3. It is an easy way to store any data I want in a figurative bucket online. It truly has revolutionized my workflow.

Cons: I wish that S3 had better filtering of what was coming into the bucket. You could upload malicious code to your bucket and there are no filters against that in the upload process.

Overall: I can store literally anything I want digitally in an S3 bucket. This has completely changed how I deal with customer data, and is a lifesaver!

Pros: We use AWS S3 with many of our clients. Their service is incredibly reliable, secure and affordable. The pricing is based on how much storage you are using and when, so you're only paying for what you're actually using. S3 allows you to ratchet down security so that files or buckets are only shared exactly how you want. This can be especially useful in cases of downloadable products in an eCommerce store for exammple. we also use it for video for many of our clients in conjunction with AWS's CDN solution Cloudfront.

Cons: AWS can be daunting to newbies. There's a learning curve but is worth it for the power and functionality.

Overall: I highly recommend Amazon's S3 service to anyone looking for a highly reliable, versatile, secure, and affordable platform to store any kind of file.

Pros: I like that there is both a web interface and a CLI - this makes it possible to figure out what is possible visually then script it for automation.

Cons: Bucket names are global - and also sometimes required to be a specific name (domain routing). This makes moving a bucket from one account to another difficult and someone could potentially own your bucket name.

Cons: The company has always been non-techie unfriendly. I've tried several times to get this to work but still don't know how to do it. It has gotten easier over the years but still a long ways from being easy. Maybe they need more video training that is done by a non-techie.

Despite it's mainly for object storage, its really flexible and if you learn all its capabilities and tools it can be an inseparable part of your business. But what is really nice is that it's still accessible if you are not a developer. You do need to be technically inclined but you do not need code to push out a simple instance.

Pros: It's a web service by Amazon that allows you to store your data in secured form in S3 storage system named as buckets. Each user has its own bucket so the data is secured. The backups are well managed. And you have to pay not for entire bucket but only the data that you store.
The type of data that can be stored has not restrictions. You can store data in any form. Because S3 is an object storage system. Objects can be up to 5 terabytes in size. You can customise this size by contacting Amazon support.

Cons: The AWS team has taken care to provide various console services to ease the use of softwares but only thing that can cause limitations is the cost of transferring data from Amazon glacier (a storage service that stores data from S3 when data is not used often) back to S3 bucket.

Overall: An easily available storage system that stores any kind of data, suitable for even big data. Easy to retrieve, process and dump back to the system.

Cons: Sometimes for the cheap Amazon S3 the speed seems to be very slow. In order to save money some programs should be tweaked so they don't hit the storage as often.

Amazon is that absolute best thing that has ever been created.

Pros: Amazon web Services, is eating the world with its services in the cloud, and in particular the S3 service that allows you to store data on your servers, it is like a kind of databases on the servers of Amazon, where you have access to from any part of the world

Cons: the only bad thing that I find AWS S3, is that if you have internet, you have nothing, although it tends to be a bit complicated the configuration of their servers for basic users.

Overall: keep my data in the cloud, is a flexibility that we are looking for today

Pros: Ease of use - Amazon have moved their business into the world of web hosting and have continued to show why they are the leaders of making things as easy as possible for the customer

Cons: Support can be delayed if not paying for the premium but generally it is not needed and there are plenty of web forums online.

Pros: It's dirt cheap, super easy to set up and replicate data worldwide, integrates easily with so many other services in the AWS ecosystem.

Cons: One outage in your region on you're toast, unless you pay for multi region replication with unfortunately doubles your cost. This is what happened back in March 2017.

Pros: S3 is really "Simple Storage Service" in it's literal sense as it's really easy to work with buckets to store files.I really find the website hosting service one of the best features on S3.

Cons: Upload times for files can get very agitating even if the files are compressed. If this is fixed, it would greatly enhance the user experience.

Overall: When developing Alexa Skills, S3 serves as a good place to store my source code when the files get too large.

Pros: The simple fact that they offer 12 months of free tier access is brilliant and gives you plenty of time to set up everything and figure out just what all you need to have in place.

Cons: So much reading I had to do to figure out how it all came together. Thankfully the documentation is quite robust and thorough, just don't expect to be able to stumble your way around the platform.

Pros: I was able to create a powershell script that runs daily to move my backup to s3 and store my file. The cost for last month was to save all my backup. Win.

Cons: The renaming of the files has cause some extra work when I need to restore the files. Currently I keep a days backup on regular file server for dev datebases.

Overall: Great place to store lots of data with little cost.

Pros: One of the main features is cloud-based. We can store as many files, images on the cloud without worry about the scalability. All data are secure through amazon IAM feature.

Cons: Nothing I found wrong with this product but I have the only concern is about retrieval method. In one of the project, I have found difficult to access some file through S3 API.

Pros: A cost effective way to host larger media (in my case, mostly our internal testing automation engine) without having to upgrade my server hosting capacity. Although you have to pay for it but the premium support is one of the best in the industry, no technical capability is required as they help with setup and administration.

Cons: The service is more on the expensive side in comparison to its peers. If AWS could lower the price of the service that would be great, but we can't really expect such a service to be completely free.
