Pros: Amazon S3 as short for simple storage service.

It is a secure object storage ideal for keeping files that are used be aws services like Athena, Elastic Map Reduce, etc. We can perform ETL Jobs written HIVE queries on the data stored in Amazon Athena supported formats on S3 directly. Which provide great performance on huge amount of data.

Amazon EMR is another service that treat S3 as a type of local storage means cost and time of read-write operations in same region is as low as possible resulting in faster Job execution.

S3 is another place where all other services store there logs. Having a negligible cost makes it ideal place to store a huge amount of files logs and other.

Cons: Amazon S3 is a object storage.

We can update a file/object stored in it only way to update a file is to download it make the changes and upload it by deleting the old one in other words overwriting it. Which generate unnecessary read-write network bandwidth when we have to update small change in a large file.

Another drawback is its maintaining versions of same file. we can do it but not as easy as other file storage systems.

Also i find no way to integrating it with my local system like OneDrive is integrated into windows making hard to transfer file in and out of the system.

Pros: Amazon S3 is a Simple Storage Service by Amazon Web Services to store the objects. Best thing in it is that it is highly scalable and no latency (except Glacier). It's extremely low cost service. You don't have to worry about security, durability and flexibility once you jump to Amazon S3 service. Best part in it that you don't have to end-up buying your own hardware storage space which need professional IT support. In Amazon S3 we should be paying for that service only that you are using it.

Cons: As it's a object storage space you can not install the OS or some dynamic site on it. managing the firewall is also a challenging part. We can not handle the file system of Amazom S3 service. You should be intelligent enough while selecting the S3 options or you should be getting extra load in your billing dashboard.

Overall: Amazon S3 service is helping us in expending object storage on the go. It's helping us to save the money as Amazon S3 is very cost efficient. With the help of this we are also provide the security level that our customer need at the time joining or working with us.

Pros: Amazon Simple Storage Service also know as Amazon S3 is the one of the best service under the cloud solution with the most trusted name Amazon Web Service. Scalability is the one of the best feature we get under the hood of the Amazon S3 as you will never get out of space one the main time when you actually need the space and scale it back when we don't need it. Billing cycle is also very flexible and only charge you what you use. Operation Team can handle it and work under this is also infrastructure is more transparent.

Cons: Amazon S3 provide the object storage we can not run website all on it. It need helping hand from it's sister services like CloudFront, EC2 and RDS or Dynamo DB to make it really work. Managing firewall for it also one of the challenging part as you do not want the loophole in your storage solution.

Overall: Amazon S3 scalability is the best thing helping for our business. It's also very cost effective as you don't have to pay what you don't want to use. In the today era AWS is a big giant and everyone want to host it services one best infrastructure.

Pros: S3 is absolutely an expert tool, and as such is incredibly powerful. We use S3 throughout our workflow in a bunch of different places, and it solves a number of problems for us wherever we need to put files online (whether temporarily or permanently). For certain types of hosting and usage, the pricing is so low you can essentially forget that it costs anything and throw whatever you want at it.

Cons: The level of complexity in S3 is quite high, so even a process like setting permissions on a bucket feels like passing through some sort of inscrutable bureaucracy to some degree. While many AWS users are likely domain experts, for the rest of us who lack the time (or inclination) to dedicate as much time to learning the system, S3 can have an extremely steep learning curve and some byzantine ways of doing things.

Pros: I love the flexibility of S3. At my company, sometimes my team needs to store small amounts of data, and sometimes we need to store huge amounts of data (multiple terabytes) depending on what type of client project we are working on. With S3 we can easily ramp up our storage capacity when necessary, but then scale it back down when we don't need it. It is way more cost effective than purchasing our own in-house storage that would sit near empty most of the time. I also like how the data can be accessed programatically or through the user interface, so that both the technical and non-technical members of my team can access it.

Cons: S3 was a pain to initially set up. It might be because I am new to cloud storage, but when I was tasked with setting up some buckets on S3 for my team I had to spend lots of time trying to figure everything out. Luckily though, with the help of Google I got the hang of things and was able to figure everything out. The documentation for S3 can definitely be improved.

Pros: It's easy to use, cost efficient (4 different cost models), secure ('11 nines' durability) and flexible. It's a building block of almost all serverless solution that you can dream of. You can store data, manage it retention using automatic lifecycle policy, inventory data (S3 Inventory) and run big data analytics directly on it (AWS Athena). You can even host your static website in Amazon S3. It's easy to integrate with almost all AWS services.

Cons: You can't run static web hosting using https without some additional services involved like CloudFront or Elastic Load Balancer.

Overall: Really secure, durable and elastic storage solution.

Pros: Amazon's Simple Storage Service (S3) is a game changer for our storage needs. The price is super cheap and it allows us to scale as we see fit. We do not have to worry about on-site storage solutions anymore and can have a peace of mind that data is stored and secure.

Cons: There was a steep learning curve to move all our existing data into S3. Also getting the engineering team to switch over was a hassle, but the documentation and services provided by AWS does make this process easier. One caveat to using this is that if you have updates to the files you have stored, you can only overwrite the file. You can't make in place updates to the files. This does cost a bit of read/write dollars (especially if it is a large file, with small update).

Overall: With the ease of use and the high availability provided by AWS. It is a no brainer to use AWS S3 as your cloud storage service. I would highly recommend this to all my organizations to adopt.

Pros: I was struggling because our site support pictures uploading and the drive was filling out, I heard of S3 and created a bucket, was able to easily setup the app to upload to S3, and I pre compressed the images on the server and then send them to S3, I dont have to worry anymore of space isssues on my server.

Cons: Could be easier to use, has a learning curve as a lot of AWS services.

Lack of Image compression when uploading an image.

Overall: Great for uploads of pictures and data, you pay for what you use and your server can be free from space issues.

Pros: S3 is, in the grand scheme of things, rather straightforward (most of the time). More importantly, it's flexible enough to do exactly what it purports to do: Store file. Simply(-ish).

Cons: The developers at Amazon have a weird idea about what "simple" means. Backblaze B2 is a pretty good example of a much simpler solution, albeit without as much functionality and without much in the way of SDKs (as of writing this). If you've never used S3 before, it'll take you a little while to get your head wrapped around how it works.

Pros: Amazon S3 is simple and reliable storage as a service that is primarily used in web applications that stores attachments, images, videos, pdf and etc. Amazon S3 is super easy to integrate with any existing web app. With Amazon S3 you don't need to store bulky blob storage in database.

Cons: Amazon S3 is great service to store your web app static data. There is nothing that I dislike about it.

Overall: As Amazon S3 is fast and cheap storage as a service we use it to store attachments and archive data for our web app.

Pros: Amazon S3 is the storage service offered by AWS.

It's one of the first services offered by AWS (together with EC2) and it can be considered a solution for many different use cases, from personal usage to enterprise secure solutions.

It offers many options that balance cost and features and nowadays it's being used by an almost uncountable number of companies and products.

Cons: S3 has always been a bit weird in some aspects (like bucket names should be universally unique on the whole S3 service).

Also security configuration can be a bit tricky and in fact many companies experienced data leaks from their S3 buckets because they couldn't end up with a secure configuration or they simply forgot a bucket open.

Overall: I use S3 for personal and business projects, I never had a problem with it and I don't see why I should move to competitors (exception being the price perhaps).

Pros: It's easy to use, you can create buckets with ease and manage them. The space in AWS is actually cheap and the buckets can be encripted to add extra security to the data stored. It can be easily connected with other AWS options like Lambda or RDS to do a complete solution and can be accessed via code to retrive information when you need it.

Cons: The buckets can't be managed as I liked (like have folders of buckets) and when you have too many of them, it can get really messy. The library needed to use S3 in you code is somewhat heavy.

Overall: It helped the company to have an easy and low cost solution to the services we are providing to our costumers with the security we needed

Pros: S3 provides an incredibly low cost solutions with a lot of benefits. I love the flexibility and the fact that you can maintain your S3 solution using a Python API. It is super easy and cheap to host a basic static site from your S3 bucket as well. If you have never tried S3 then you have to.

Cons: Setting up the solution is complex and definitely mostly for technically strong individuals. The security aspect is especially complex.

Overall: Low cost storage to use for personal and business use.

S3 is a globally available service, So you can also access data across regions. It can be used with all the other amazon services. Mostly used for storing big files.

Cons: Management of large number of buckets becomes a hectic task, as you need to understand and set permission levels for everyone of these.

Pros: Because of it's popularity, almost all cloud-mounting softwares support the ability to mount S3 on your computer as a local drive, making it easy to access and edit files without downloading and uploading each time. With high-speed Internet, it's basically done in real time.

Cons: I don't like the buckets, as they, to me, seem to be just a folder with a fancy name.

Pros: I love using it as an intermediary caching mechanism. With versioning and caching enabled on my servers on top of fetching resources from S3, I get both a resiliant and easy to set up file management system.

Pros: I really like S3. It is an easy way to store any data I want in a figurative bucket online. It truly has revolutionized my workflow.

Cons: I wish that S3 had better filtering of what was coming into the bucket. You could upload malicious code to your bucket and there are no filters against that in the upload process.

Overall: I can store literally anything I want digitally in an S3 bucket. This has completely changed how I deal with customer data, and is a lifesaver!

Pros: We use AWS S3 with many of our clients. Their service is incredibly reliable, secure and affordable. The pricing is based on how much storage you are using and when, so you're only paying for what you're actually using. S3 allows you to ratchet down security so that files or buckets are only shared exactly how you want. This can be especially useful in cases of downloadable products in an eCommerce store for exammple. we also use it for video for many of our clients in conjunction with AWS's CDN solution Cloudfront.

Cons: AWS can be daunting to newbies. There's a learning curve but is worth it for the power and functionality.

Overall: I highly recommend Amazon's S3 service to anyone looking for a highly reliable, versatile, secure, and affordable platform to store any kind of file.

Apart from that S3 is also helpful in providing the means of communication between different AWS services.

Pros: Easy to setup. Easy to use. Easy to deploy in your projects.

I have been using s3 in most of my projects as a source of secure data storage. The AWS S3 APIs are easy to use and once setup they provide fast access to the data stored for retrieval.

Cons: Some of the features are not easily understandable. The security/encryptions used in s3 for data storage for each file needs more clarity, plus, sorting of the data needs to be all over the records, not on just the items visible on the current page.

Overall: It has been great integrating s3 as a storage solution in my projects.

Pros: Amazon S3 provides you with the efficient and cost effective storage solution. You can store your any kind of data on S3. Most of the AWS services can directly communicate with S3 which makes work a lot simpler. It is globally available service, hence region based limitation do not apply to it.

Cons: Its UI panel is not that good. Files and Folders can be shown in a much more presentable way.

Pros: If you are one of those people with a lot of web traffic, powerful websites that require powerful services, amazon S3 is for you, you will definitely not be disappointed, however, you must make sure you have the knowledge or in its absence IT professionals who can take advantage of this platform and can configure it together with your platform, in general amazon S3 is a great solution for companies and is on par with services similar in the market. What I like most about amazon s3 is that you only pay for what you use, so the more data you keep in the cloud, the more accessible it is and this is incredible, I have solved many problems in my company thanks to Amazon services!

Cons: I can not really say something that I do not like about this service, the only thing I could add is that it is something difficult to handle for users with little knowledge about IT.

Pros: I like that it's a service that is inexpensive. I like that I can have specific folders to organize data. I like the sync feature.

Cons: The company has always been non-techie unfriendly. For example, Ive tried several times to figure out how to stream a video and every time I attempt to figure it out I get lost in a maze of techie language and directions that never seem to work. I've tried several times to get this to work but still don't know how to do it. It has gotten easier over the years but still a long ways from being easy. Maybe they need more video training that is done by a non-techie.

A lot of tools are there to query data from S3 like Athena, Hive

S3 customer support is good

Cons: We can not achieve RDBMS functionality like update/deleted a few records in an easy way, It is costly operation it includes multiple operations.

Overall: For Onetime store and multiple retrievals, S3 is the best option. We really cant pure RDBMS functionality with any of tools built for querying data from S3

Pros: Amazon S3 offers all the functions necessary to manage projects at the server level. I wanted to do a review before this software, since I used it a lot at the commercial level and we did not have any type of failure or stopped supporting our requirements.

I appreciate your quick way to link projects, all files and sources are stored without problems in Amazon S3.

Cons: The validation process is slow, Amazon S3 invests a lot of time in certifying that we are dependent customers of its software. The price is high, like some other Amazon products, but it is still excellent.

Pros: My default solution for whenever I need to store or share files.

It's great for internal company use, where data needs to be secured. We also use it to just transfer large chunks of data between our remote team members.

We use it for logging from our AWS services, and with multiple tools available, data analytics is a breeze.

And that little feature I love... Static website hosting, it just works.

Cons: Since it's a key / value storage, some operations, like listing large buckets or moving files between different locations can be time consuming.

Pros: What I like the most about this service inside the Amazon ecosystem is the simplicity of use and integration with any software language, is so intuitive as it display every file just like a directory inside a computer, the permission management is simple to use.

Cons: For some policy rules to share the files sometimes it is hard to understand how to apply them correctly.

Overall: Currently I've been using this Amazon service for everything about persisting documents in the cloud, I've implemented this software in 5 projects by far and I have a good experience using it.

Pros: Easy to set up

Pay only for what you use

Cons: Permissions config requires a bit more IT knowledge than most have.

Overall: We use Amazon S3 for hosting files we use in emails. It's so easy to set up a folder, throw our assets in, configure permissions, and forget about it.

The pricing is structured in a way that we only spend anywhere from a few cents to a few dollars a month on fees. This is much cheaper than setting up a hosting account and paying a fixed monthly rate to host images. I'd recommend this software to anyone looking to set up a location for hosting files in a way that doesn't break the bank.

Pros: Storing files with Amazon S3 is very easy. You can store data at a massive scale which is beneficial if you are limited on data storage elsewhere. Pros: First 1 GB outbound data transfer is free for every month. It comes with a calculator, called the AWS calculator that tracks the usage costs. It offers accessible data storing system which is mostly used for storage of app data and companies that require cloud space for backup. There is 99.99% guarantee of durability of storage objects. It also supports data transfer over automatic encryption and SSL of data once it is uploaded. It is based on pay per use model, hence turns out to be an affordable storage solution.

Cons: Being relatively new software, it lacks the traditional hosting plans and on the other hand, hosting is only provided for static websites.

Overall: It is a convenient solution for small to medium companies who need data storage solution at a reasonable rate. In fact companies can utilize the FREE access of 1 GB every month for seamless work

Pros: This software helped my web team and developers in managing temporary files and data, uploading them and creating an online storage for various of purposes. Despite it's mainly for object storage, its really flexible and if you learn all its capabilities and tools it can be an inseparable part of your business. S3 pricing varies depending on the different storage classes which is absolutely a fair deal.

Cons: It's pretty complex and tricky, sometimes the download takes ages but overall it's a highly expert program and is developed to provide durability and security in managing web data and files.

Pros: I was very impressed on how easily you can share, encrypt and give access to users with S3 storage. I am just amazed on how many features S3 has that you can easily do so much on a few or single item online.

Cons: It's not cheap when compared to other online storage. Amazon knows that there storage is exclusive and the price will remain higher than the regular low cost storage provider.

Overall: I was so impressed and want to see more for S3 and wished they would compete with the online storage world. Amazon looks like for now is not interested. But if you can make something very affordable for everyone to store. Everyone will follow. And storage is going to be a big factor in the cloud.

Pros: It's a web service by Amazon that allows you to store your data in secured form in S3 storage system named as buckets. Each user has its own bucket so the data is secured. The backups are well managed. And you have to pay not for entire bucket but only the data that you store.

The type of data that can be stored has not restrictions. You can store data in any form. Because S3 is an object storage system. Objects can be up to 5 terabytes in size. You can customise this size by contacting Amazon support.

Cons: The AWS team has taken care to provide various console services to ease the use of softwares but only thing that can cause limitations is the cost of transferring data from Amazon glacier (a storage service that stores data from S3 when data is not used often) back to S3 bucket.

Overall: An easily available storage system that stores any kind of data, suitable for even big data. Easy to retrieve, process and dump back to the system.

Pros: Once we got our information in the right buckets/regions, we have had no problems with the software. It's affordable and reliable.

Cons: My only con was partially due to an error on my part. Because we saved different folders/buckets in different regions, it took us over a day to move a lot of our information into the correct region. That's probably just a dumb error on my part.

Additionally, the speed to go through and find a particular item can be slow at times.

Pros: It's dirt cheap, super easy to set up and replicate data worldwide, integrates easily with so many other services in the AWS ecosystem.

Cons: One outage in your region on you're toast, unless you pay for multi region replication with unfortunately doubles your cost. This is what happened back in March 2017.

Pros: Amazon provides cloud storage service in the form of Amazon S3. You can store any kind of file on S3. It is accessible via aws-cli and client applications for aws. It can be easily integrated with other services like cloud watch and EMR and Amazon Athena to provide maximum utilization. Pricing wise its very cheap and affordable.

Cons: It uses keys structure to store data, hence key name becomes quite lengthy for a complex hierarchy.

Pros: As amazon says high durability and availability is best feature of S3. Very easy to integrate with other AWS products.

Cons: For serious or immediate support we need to have AWS support plan. Pricing policy can be bit confusing for beginners.

Pros: S3 is really "Simple Storage Service" in it's literal sense as it's really easy to work with buckets to store files.I really find the website hosting service one of the best features on S3.

Cons: Upload times for files can get very agitating even if the files are compressed. If this is fixed, it would greatly enhance the user experience.

Overall: When developing Alexa Skills, S3 serves as a good place to store my source code when the files get too large.

Pros: It is secure using secret key access and very stable. The servers have the latest hardware and are rock solid. I have not tested the computing power but I would image from the processors that they would be hefty too.

Cons: The top providers do not have many budget options but I manage to use the free tier to host an online app. When it scales, I would image that the cost of be more than the free tiral.

Pros: S3 makes it easy to host content online, at a low cost

Cons: S3 suffers from the same learning curve problems as AWS. It wasn't very intuitive to connect a SSL certificate , for example, and this required reading a few tutorials online

Pros: The simple fact that they offer 12 months of free tier access is brilliant and gives you plenty of time to set up everything and figure out just what all you need to have in place.

Cons: So much reading I had to do to figure out how it all came together. Thankfully the documentation is quite robust and thorough, just don't expect to be able to stumble your way around the platform.

Pros: I was able to create a powershell script that runs daily to move my backup to s3 and store my file. The cost for last month was to save all my backup. Win.

Cons: The renaming of the files has cause some extra work when I need to restore the files. Currently I keep a days backup on regular file server for dev datebases.

Overall: Great place to store lots of data with little cost.

I'm ATG developer and having hands of on multiple integrations to the e-commerce domain.

Pros: One of the main features is cloud-based. We can store as many files, images on the cloud without worry about the scalability. All data are secure through amazon IAM feature.

Cons: Nothing I found wrong with this product but I have the only concern is about retrieval method. In one of the project, I have found difficult to access some file through S3 API.

Pros: 1. Cheaper than most market alternatives like the offerings from Google, Atlassian, etc

2. Easy to integrate with Amazon's Cloudfront CDN for serving static assets like images and video

3. Their backup and redundancy is good and availability is really nice

4. Have used it to host my blog files as well as JS bundles for my production website

Cons: 1. Has a very big learning curve

2. Buckets, ACLs, Permission lists, takes a lot of time to get used to it

3. More often than not, you need a dedicated dev-ops guy to handle it

Cons: cost to download the calls out, I'm paying for the storage, I thought it would be free to get access to them when i needed them.

Overall: able to store a large amount of data easily.

Pros: In my view, S3 by Amazon is the best storage service for your logs as compared with other storage services available in the market. It's quite easy to use and hence is user friendly.

AWS as a whole is quite easy to learn and very user friendly. It's a good platform for anyone who is keen to learn about how the cloud actually works. I would recommend every beginner to use AWS to start of with their cloud computing career.

Cons: I think the only minus point I see over here is that there are limited Number of services that are free to use, other than that it's great.
