### "An Incredible Web"

June 24, 2023

5.0

Pros

Budget-friendly. As we already discussed, Amazon offers services with a pay-as-you-go pricing structure.

Cons

Misconfigurations or oversights in S3 buckets allow unauthorized users to access sensitive data.

### "For pros only"

October 24, 2022

5.0

Good for using in software products, bad for simple day to day storage.

Pros

It is very inexpensive and reliable. It's an amazon product, you know it'll work as expected.

Cons

It is almost impossible to know how much you'll pay with AWS pricing system. Using it as an alternative to Google drive or other user-friendly storage solutions is highly discouraged, as it is overly complicated for non-ITs (almost as if they did that on purpose). You don't have support unless you pay for it.

### "Industry leader in cloud storage"

May 30, 2019

5.0

We use it for secure and reliable video storage and recommend it to all of our clients too.

Pros

Ideal to store any type of digital files including, but not limited to: \* video \* audio \* images \* documents The buckets are providing an easy to locate option but it all depends on your own creativity. Very reliable and quick. I prefer to keep my video files for clients on Amazon S3 compared to YouTube to avoid ads and recommended videos at the end.

Cons

No search option available which makes it difficult to locate your files if you do not set a proper structure from the beginning. Technical support is not available with the free subscription.

### "Swiss army knife of AWS"

June 13, 2018

5.0

Really secure, durable and elastic storage solution.

Pros

It's easy to use, cost efficient (4 different cost models), secure ('11 nines' durability) and flexible. It's a building block of almost all serverless solution that you can dream of. You can store data, manage it retention using automatic lifecycle policy, inventory data (S3 Inventory) and run big data analytics directly on it (AWS Athena). You can even host your static website in Amazon S3. It's easy to integrate with almost all AWS services.

Cons

You can't run static web hosting using https without some additional services involved like CloudFront or Elastic Load Balancer.

### "Good and affordable storage service"

March 25, 2022

5.0

Overall S3 is very good and has a very good connection to all locations if you combine it with CloudFront, another AWS service.

Pros

Amazon AWS S3 Service is very usefull when it comes to handle a lot of data which you dont want to store on your own server. S3 handles all our images and contract templates.

Cons

There is no good way to see how much S3 costs. You need to manually calculate how much it will cost you.

### "Allowing us to scale our infrastructure to meet our growing storage needs."

July 17, 2019

5.0

Pros

Amazon S3 has allowed us to increase our storage capacity on demand as our operations and infrastructure have grown exponentially. We can on-board new clients and their content without having to worry about available storage or having to make heavy fixed capital investments.

Cons

As is with any product, there is an initial slight learning curve and if you are not command line savvy, you depend on the available GUI tools to transfer content in and out of S3 -- some of which can be clunky and not too intuitive. Luckily, there is a good amount of helpful tutorials to help you learn your way around S3.

### "Affordable, encrypted storage"

October 9, 2020

5.0

I use this mainly to store website backups - it integrates perfectly with my backup software so everything is automated - once setup you can pretty much forget it knowing that it works perfectly

Pros

The cost..! This has got to be one of the most affordable big branded storage systems out there - yes there are cheaper alternatives but i'd rather use a name I know and trust - it costs me pennies per month to store my back up data.

Cons

Amazon S3 can be tricky to setup up initially - you have to create the account - select location and setup storage buckets - easy once you know what you are doing but I imagine it could be daunting for a newbie.

### "Fast and reliable cloud storage "

January 20, 2019

4.0

We use Amazon S3 for storing large amounts of data and for backup. The price and reliability of Amazon S3 means that there's improved productivity and cost savings.

Pros

Amazon S3 is easy to use, fast, reliable and very affordable. Another great thing about Amazon S3 is that it can be used to host static websites. This greatly reduces the cost of hosting compared to using a dedicated server. I also like that Amazon S3 is tightly integrated with other Amazon solutions that we use.

Cons

One issue I've experienced regularly is that it's very slow when reading from Amazon S3. I've also experienced occasional lags in the S3 browser.

### "Great object storage that can be used for many purposes"

August 16, 2019

4.0

We are using S3 in our projects for multi purposes. We have several APIs that are being served with static website serving feature of S3. Also, all of our project deployment packages are stored in private S3 buckets. S3 is also working well integrated with other AWS products.

Pros

S3 is a great object storage service that we are using it for storing backups of our applications, serving a static website of our APIs, and all deployment packages. It is very easy to use and easy to configure. You can adjust your buckets to either private or public.

Cons

User interface of S3 is not good enough. Pricing is high if you are doing so much list/put/delete operations

### "The most affordable and reliable cloud storage"

December 6, 2019

5.0

We couldn't be more happy with the solution. Knowing that all our data and backups are securely hosted in a reliable infrastructure. The pricing is great too.

Pros

\- Great pricing structure. Affordable for all. - Provides a level playing field. Whether you are a one man company working out of the basement or a 10,000 employee behemoth , AWS has room for all. - Super reliability. In our years of usage we have never suffered a down time with them.

Cons

They may want to improve the learning curve from an absolute newbie point of view. Configuring buckets, security may be overwhelming for a person diving into S3 for the first time.

### "Amazon S3 Review"

August 6, 2018

4.0

With the ease of use and the high availability provided by AWS. It is a no brainer to use AWS S3 as your cloud storage service. I would highly recommend this to all my organizations to adopt.

Pros

Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) is a game changer for our storage needs. The price is super cheap and it allows us to scale as we see fit. We do not have to worry about on-site storage solutions anymore and can have a peace of mind that data is stored and secure.

Cons

There was a steep learning curve to move all our existing data into S3. Also getting the engineering team to switch over was a hassle, but the documentation and services provided by AWS does make this process easier. One caveat to using this is that if you have updates to the files you have stored, you can only overwrite the file. You can’t make in place updates to the files. This does cost a bit of read/write dollars (especially if it is a large file, with small update).

### "Best Storage Space with very low operational cost and ideal file storage for other AWS services"

July 4, 2018

5.0

Pros

Amazon S3 as short for simple storage service. It is a secure object storage ideal for keeping files that are used be aws services like Athena, Elastic Map Reduce, etc. We can perform ETL Jobs written HIVE queries on the data stored in Amazon Athena supported formats on S3 directly. Which provide great performance on huge amount of data. Amazon EMR is another service that treat S3 as a type of local storage means cost and time of read-write operations in same region is as low as possible resulting in faster Job execution. S3 is another place where all other services store there logs. Having a negligible cost makes it ideal place to store a huge amount of files logs and other.

Cons

Amazon S3 is a object storage. We can update a file/object stored in it only way to update a file is to download it make the changes and upload it by deleting the old one in other words overwriting it. Which generate unnecessary read-write network bandwidth when we have to update small change in a large file. Another drawback is its maintaining versions of same file. we can do it but not as easy as other file storage systems. Also i find no way to integrating it with my local system like OneDrive is integrated into windows making hard to transfer file in and out of the system.

### "Your resilient storage service"

December 5, 2019

5.0

We use S3 as our storage backend for assets everywhere. It integrates nicely with Cloudfront, and allows you to restrict access to the files in a per-file basis. Very powerful and flexible tool.

Pros

Relatively easy to setup, but it requires some familiarity. It is pretty stable, and in the time I have been using it I have seen it going down only once (remember that time that half of the internet went down?). Overall, stability, speed and reliability are just awesome.

Cons

Permissions. As everything in AWS, the permissions are a tricky beast to tame. However, this is part of the platform and is something you will need to live with.

### "Better place to upload your pictures and videos"

April 12, 2019

4.0

I am using s3 bucket from more than 2 years and it is user friendly or i can say programmer friendly.

Pros

It will reduce the weight of your server, so api will respond in more faster way. As Images and Videos take more data and if you use s3 bucket side by side your native server will take less load also it is easy to implement as available doc is sufficient for implementation. You can upload, delete or fetch the file from s3 bucket in the easiest way. Code is available for both iOS and android.

Cons

I generally use to upload images and videos to the bucket and i have not find such a major issue.

### "Reliable Servers For A Fair Price"

October 15, 2021

5.0

Pros

Simple Cloud Storage from AWS is super reliable, we had no major issues in over 5 years. The features they offer can be a little bit overwhelming, especially when you are new to AWS. However, on the other site it gives you the chance to really setup everything you can imagine like you want.

Cons

The written documentations are not always easy to understand. When you want to have individual, technical support you need to buy a monthly support package.

### "Still the best cloud object storage service"

May 1, 2019

5.0

Very pleased with Amazon S3, excellent service!

Pros

S3 just works, plan and simple. It's very easy to use with a nice UI and a myriad of clients consuming the s3 API. Bandwidth is usually very fast, of course this depends on your own connectivity. Setting up permissions for files is a matter of configuring IAM. There's an easy button option to make files public and to make them private again. S3 is definitely gold as an artifact repository for hosting as well as data backups. Most software will have an option to backup to s3 so even if you don't have an internet connection, chances are that there is some 3rd party object store which will support s3-APIs.

Cons

On rare occasions, AWS S3 will experience downtime. This doesn't happen to often but as a cloud SaaS offering, it's a potential risk that needs to be mitigated. S3 also can't be used for air gapped environments unless AWS decides to put out an on-prem version.

### "S3 - Simple, straightforward and superb"

May 30, 2019

4.0

My experience with S3 has been really good apart from the bucket deletion and name problem. I would really suggest developers to give s3 a try but keep in mind the configuration. Its easy to expose all files to others.

Pros

S3 screams simplicity, be it the Web UI or the AWS api/cli usage. Some of the pros include: 1) Support for versioning of files stored 2) Static website hosting 3) A convenient data store for super cheap 4) Good amount of security and encryption options available

Cons

Deleting and creating buckets with same names takes pretty long time, which means that you have to change the dependent services. I am not really sure why this is the case but this is pretty annoying. Amazon hit a bit of a speedbump with S3 when the bucket sort of leaked files, but I think that was more of misconfiguration on users' end. Over time amazon has started to show the yellow 'public' label which should alert the users.

### "Great cloud storage with a friendly free tier."

October 3, 2019

5.0

Solved my problems perfectly by allowing to offload my servers from hosting data. Pricing is pretty OK when you don't have too much data.

Pros

There are a lot of libraries outside for various tools that can be used to quickly set up S3 and use it in your needed use case. I use it for my website, and using an SDK it's just a matter of setting up API keys and it works great.

Cons

You can start to feel the pricing when you have millions of millions of objects. Transferring terabytes of objects from one zone to another can pretty expensive, each operation costs when we're talking in millions.

### "Advance hosting provider for videos and visuals"

May 15, 2022

5.0

All in all Amazon S3 is the most reliable server infrastructure among its alternatives and due to its scalable structure we can base any web and mobile based application's backend on Amazon S3 without experiencing any problem in our services.

Pros

Amazon S3 is by far the most reliable and robust server infrastructure to host the visual materials and videos of any web service. With the advance features of Amazon S3, we can launch video and visuals heavy mobile and web applications without experiencing any serious interruption in our client side.

Cons

Although Amazon S3 works exceptionally in a high performance, I can not state that the support of Amazon Web Services is performing that much perfectly. First of all support teams return time to the email based cases in resolution center is quite slow and we can not get directly support without subscribing to the pro support plan.

### "Cheap Reliable storage in the cloud"

August 7, 2019

5.0

Amazon S3 solved our storage needs. Prior, the company was storing everything on their own servers. If the site went down, so did our files. Amazon's reliability is why we use the S3.

Pros

Amazon S3 is like Dropbox/Google Drive, but on Amazon's cloud server. That means, it's fast with a 99.9% uptime. All of our public-facing course material is secured on Amazon S3, and I don't have to worry about the server being down.

Cons

There's a learning curve. It's kind of ugly - I'm not expecting someone to use it right out of the box. There's lots of options to choose from, and you could accidentally expose all of your sensitive data if you didn't set it up correctly.

Switched from

Dropbox was cleaner, but expensive. S3 is reliable and priced waaaay better.

### "Real Simple Storage For Real Cheap"

April 24, 2020

5.0

We use this to host static assets in tandem with AWS CloudFront—this gives us a cost effective content distribution network that performs relatively well. There's a large market of talent that are familiar with administrating AWS which is an additional benefit.

Pros

I use S3 to host static assets for web applications. It's fast, cheap, and gets the job done. It's also a great option for storing backup files, databases, media assets, etc.

Cons

Complexity—it's AWS and there is a learning curve. The UI is decidedly designed for the enterprise and the vast array of options and security controls is astonishing.
