Once set up, the interface is easy to navigate and reliable. The uploading interface and feedback are outstanding and the best I have ever experienced. Their rates are extremely competitive. Cons There is a learning curve when you are getting it set up and you have to be willing to pay if you need even the most basic support from a human. Considering what they charge, this is reasonable. This has completely changed how I deal with customer data, and is a lifesaver! Pros I really like S3. It is an easy way to store any data I want in a figurative bucket online. It truly has revolutionized my workflow. Cons I wish that S3 had better filtering of what was coming into the bucket. You could upload malicious code to your bucket and there are no filters against that in the upload process. With versioning and caching enabled on my servers on top of fetching resources from S3, I get both a resiliant and easy to set up file management system. Cons I do dislike how opaque some of the access errors are to read and assess. Pros I use S3 buckets daily to host tons of static websites, I upload the bundle and works excellent!, I also upload assets for the sites, its just amazing, and very very very cheap, almost free. It works great with Cloud Front and all the other products from Amazon, life savers. Cons Nothing, everything is positive. Maybe the UI can be improved but its just a small detail. Once stored inside the S3 buckets, all I would need is the direct download URL to copy and paste it inside the email campaigns, to be delivered whenever someone signed up using my optin. This was my use case and worked perfectly so far. Cons The only con is that once the end user gets access to the amazon s3 pdf download link it can be redistributed to others or bookmarked. We can't restrict the access at root level. It is easy to put and get objects from S3 and has helped us scale our business exponentially. Cons There are not a lot of cons considering the versatility and price. Pros We use AWS S3 with many of our clients. Their service is incredibly reliable, secure and affordable. The pricing is based on how much storage you are using and when, so you're only paying for what you're actually using. S3 allows you to ratchet down security so that files or buckets are only shared exactly how you want. This can be especially useful in cases of downloadable products in an eCommerce store for exammple. we also use it for video for many of our clients in conjunction with AWS's CDN solution Cloudfront. Cons Unless you're using a 3rd party tool that interacts with S3, it's much more challenging to implement it if you're not a programmer. Documentation is very technical. I am lucky to be familiar with website building and domain registrations that I was able to use this service quickly. They have a great plugin for WordPress you can save photos directly into your S3 bucket, although you will need to do some reading to learn technical side of it. All in all, if you need a service that is cheap, secure and very fast to host your static website, I recommend this in a heartbeat! Pros The very low cost to host static website and photos. I was blown away how cheap this is! It's secure and I've helped host entire static websites on S3 platforms. I've spend less than $5 each month to host an entire website to promote products. Cons Limited use. If you have a website that is dynamic and requires a database, you cannot use the S3 platform. You will need to purchase their AWS instances and learn how to do that. On that note, the tutorials are very long - I recommend watching a video tutorial on YouTube. Technical support is not provided unless you pay for it. Review Source Wishwa P. There are no schemas, no data types to be mentioned. Any data at any time can be put into S3 and read out. Multiple S3 buckets can be used in parallel without any dependence on each other. Pros What I love about this service is that the software is really cheap. It provides data in and out for almost any kind of data. Storage is unlimited and it scales almost infinitely. Cons The inability to batch operations. The main earning for S3 has been through individual reads and writes. So batch reads or writes are not really in their business plan, but it would be really helpful to have this feature. I would be willing to pay more for this feature as well. I will continue using it to host files for my app for as long as I stay in the software industry! Pros I would never use anything else to host my files other that Amazon S3. The price is extremely fair and the server has never crashed on my once. I have used S3 to host files for more than 10 web apps and I am very satisfied with its performance. Cons It takes awhile to learn how to integrate it with your application for the first time but there are plenty for tutorials provided by Amazon that helps you get through this process.
