Scientist I Biotechnology Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Convenient but could be more transparent " June 30, 2025 4.0 Ive used Plaid a bunch of times to link my bank account to different apps like budgeting tools, investing platforms. Most of the time, it works smoothly. Way better than having to enter everything manually. That said, it’s not perfect. Some smaller banks or credit unions aren’t supported, and sometimes you have to reconnect accounts if the link breaks. Also, it’s not always super clear what data the app is getting access to. Security-wise, I feel pretty good about it. They don’t store your login info, and everything seems encrypted and secure. Still, I wish there were more user-facing tools to manage connections across different apps in one place. Overall, Plaid makes connecting your bank to apps fast and easy. It mostly just works, which is kind of the point. Pros They provide wide range of apis to fulfill all of your requirements, like Bank verification facility for ACH payments, they help you see bank account transactions, balances, identities and many more. They are beginners of inventing this facility, and they are leading in provision of electronic financial services, I recommend them because I have done 20+ integrations for my clients, and they all are happy. Cons They are very restricted in verification process, but it is something they need to do, because of senstivity of operations. I felt difficulty while integrating some features as a developer. September 15, 2020 1.0 WaveApps is slowly committing suicide by using Plaid as it is currently supported. Pros Nothing, really... That's the point of this review. Cons Account connections with mainstream institutions like AMEX regularly break. The connection must be deleted and recreated each time there is a problem. Kind of defeats the purpose of an automated link. Connections to smaller institutions or banks don't stand a chance with Plaid. Reported problems don't get rectified presumably based on the biggest "squeaky wheel" institution getting priority. Ever since WaveApps converted to Plaid, I must do a manual bank upload to Wave to update my accounts. Again, kind of defeats the purpose of an automated link, don't you think.
