Scientist I Biotechnology Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Convenient but could be more transparent " June 30, 2025 4.0 Ive used Plaid a bunch of times to link my bank account to different apps like budgeting tools, investing platforms. Most of the time, it works smoothly. Way better than having to enter everything manually. That said, it’s not perfect. Some smaller banks or credit unions aren’t supported, and sometimes you have to reconnect accounts if the link breaks. Also, it’s not always super clear what data the app is getting access to. Security-wise, I feel pretty good about it. They don’t store your login info, and everything seems encrypted and secure. Still, I wish there were more user-facing tools to manage connections across different apps in one place. Overall, Plaid makes connecting your bank to apps fast and easy. It mostly just works, which is kind of the point. It’s a very useful platform for connecting financial data and powering apps like payments, budgeting, and investing tools. The API capabilities are pretty strong and allow companies to build advanced financial features without dealing with banks directly. That said, it’s not always perfect and sometimes requires extra handling for edge cases or connection issues. But overall it’s a reliable and widely used solution in the fintech space. Pros I liked how easy it makes connecting bank accounts to apps. The whole process is pretty quick and smooth and it works with a huge number of banks which is really helpful. It saves a lot of time compared to manually entering details or verifying accounts. I also like that it feels secure and widely trusted since a lot of popular app use it. Overall it just makes financial integrations much simpler for both users and developers. Cons One thing I didn’t like is that sometimes bank connections can break or not sync properly, especially with smaller banks. It can be a bit frustrating when data is delayed or missing and you don’t realize it right away. Also, for businesses, pricing and setup can feel a little complex depending on the use case. There are also some concerns people have around sharing financial data, even though it’s generally secure. I have had nothing but back experiences with this company. Sorry Pros No sure what to say about the pros here. I only have alot of cons from the plaid website. ok it was easy to access. Cons Plaid money transfer app is easy to be hacked and it was yesterday. i was trying to get a loan and it turns out to be 2 hacker that froze my bank account and over drawn my account. They are beginners of inventing this facility, and they are leading in provision of electronic financial services, I recommend them because I have done 20+ integrations for my clients, and they all are happy. Cons They are very restricted in verification process, but it is something they need to do, because of senstivity of operations. I felt difficulty while integrating some features as a developer. I wish more options/places were listed & some already listed to be more detailed so that you don't accidentally go to the wrong login. More options/places are added constantly so its hard to complain about an app that is constantly trying to improve Pros I like how it recognizes the different needs & requirements each individual financial group/bank expects. Some simply need login information while others demand more details. Either way, Plaid requires that extra level of security to be sure & safe which helps release any worry about identity theft in my opinion Cons While Plaid lists tons of different banks & financial institutions its also missing a good number of them too. Each issue we initiate with Plaid's support staff receives prompt attention, and they take the time to clarify faults and provide solutions. They consistently follow up to make sure that the problems of our users have been fixed and see cases through to completion. Cons Sometimes it takes months to remedy a problem. By the time a user's issue is rectified, they may have given up and terminated their accounts. Plaid provides a wide range of features, many of which small company owners won't require. This gives the setup procedure a more difficult than necessary appearance. Keep your APIs straightforward, and you won't experience any headaches.
