“We previously had issues deploying software to a wide range of users due to needing to manually remote onto user machines and installing the software, alternatively using Group Policy but this was a hit and miss due to requiring VPN and at times not having the full information to complete the install, when PDQ Deploy allows us to get these deployments done in less time which allows us to use our time on the more essential issues within the department.“

### "PDQ Deploy and Inventory repairs automatically manage software updates"

August 2, 2024

5.0

IT teams use PDQ on a daily basis, which allows them to manage machines remotely, but also to keep our fleet up to date.

Pros

PDQ Deploy allows you to deploy and install software remotely in bulk PDQ Inventory allows you to take inventory of obsolete software it's simple to use!

Cons

You have to buy both software together but the product is very good

### "Cheap solution for cheap LAN only use-cases"

December 16, 2022

I am overall happy regarding the needs that we currently have. Absolutely not good enough for modern and especially mobile cloud-based infrastructures though.

Pros

Block programming approach to defining the deployments and inventory. Really in-depth access to the OS that can read whatever you can think of with an ease. Visualisation of the results is not possible though.

Cons

No mobility support, no cloud, no dashboards, nothing. Users cannot interact with any deployment in any other way than by pressing OK. UX level cca when Greenday lead the hitparades.

### "PDQ Deploy anomalies"

April 7, 2022

3.0

Pros

Simplify server management Saves on me sign in multiple times Repeat task on remote machines

Cons

These features seem inconsistent: - Say you want to run a number on commands on a number of servers you cannot get a combined report of the output of all the commands. Often this is needed as the report may be input into further tools - You should be able to set default credentials for each computer you add manually which can be overridden from 'deploy one' - You should be able to group a group of computers like a tree structure eg. directory structure in Windows or UNIX - Computers should be able to be a member of more than one group. When you add a known computer to another group it should copy all these properties as default starting point - In new package, you should have the ability to not have to choose a step type but the commands the user types in most cases tell you what type of step it is

### "Reliable and Efficient with Local Devices"

March 13, 2026

Automated Deployments, Scheduling and dynamic collections help us as a team reduce manual work on a large number of devices - that helps our efficiency!

Pros

The UI easy to understand, simple as it is. It is straigtforward and even our new Hires can quickly understand how to assess inventory, create deployments and more.

Cons

Managing Remote Devices outside the Network can be hard compared to more cloud based platforms. However, it can work via LAN or VPN, but not every Remote Device comes into the LAN / VPN regulary

### "Inexpensive, Hierarchecal, and Scalable"

February 15, 2023

5.0

My overall experience with inventory has been very positive. Whenever I change jobs I encourage them to switch to PDQ. After its adoption, my team shares my enthusiasm.

Pros

I like the ability to create nested groups, that can be dynamic or static. I will also enjoy the ability to use multiple compound statements, without limitation in order to drill down and find devices that meet whatever criteria I can dream up or that I've been given.

Cons

The only problems I've really run into is the speed that you're able to scan large scale organizations with a lot of VPN users. Occasionally DNS does not update quickly enough so you wind up with an IP pointing to a different workstation. This doesn't really cause a great deal of problems, it just causes the scan to fail. It's not a huge deal because it will correct itself during the next scan typically

### "The one thing you got to have"

December 14, 2022

5.0

Used it at previous job, and when I came discovered they had a competitor. Tried to learn the competitor's patch management and device management. It was a headache and time consuming. Got the boss to purchase PDQ and right of the bat, everyone could use it quickly and efficiently without reading a 100 page pdf on how to use it. So intuitive and easy to use. I use it daily to manage my computers and make sure everything is up to date. Boss has come to me a couple times asking for a list of XYZ, and expecting that it is a project for the rest of the day, I'm able to get that to him within the hour, sometimes in ten minutes.

Pros

the dynamic collections you can make has been life changing. Able to create one on the fly and it continue to update and tell me if new computers have something unwanted on it, or computers that are missing important programs. I use it daily to check things. I also use it to quickly remote into computers. I have computers on the road and I have to jump in there sometimes remotely and need to be able to look at software lists quickly and a couple clicks my remote software is already connected. Or I can use pdq deploy to shoot out a program update or install something new. PDQ Deploy has all the right switches and knows exactly what to do with files to silently deploy practically anything. Testing is simple and easy and usually I have it tested and deployed within an hour. Saves me time everyday to quickly do what I need to do and have time to work on other projects. Support is also a godsend. Quick, easy, and friendly to the max!

Cons

Not much that I do not like. The new icons are weird and there are some bugs in pdq deploy that get updates stuck and they just sit in the list forever. Usually when I have a con come up in my mind, I find out that the feature request I thought of, is already in the system some where.

Switched from

[Solarwinds Storage Resource Manager](https://www.capterra.com/p/228419/Storage-Resource-Monitor/)

just was too confusing to learn and even after learning it, it was a pain to build lists and find what I needed.

### "PDQ Deploy & Inventory Saves Time"

July 1, 2025

5.0

PDQ saves our IT team a ton of time. Being able to package software installation and deploy it in an automated fashion saves us significant time when deploying new PCs. Additionally, many endpoint software updates that we previously had to do manually on every endpoint can now be automated with PDQ Deploy.

Pros

PDQ Inventory and Deploy work hand-in-hand. I love the fact that Inventory can provide a dynamic list of endpoints that meet certain criteria (OS, software version, etc.) and present it to Deploy for software or script deployment.

Cons

PDQ Deploy can initiate software or script deployment on a schedule (once, interval, daily, etc.). One of these options is called "Heartbeat". I love this idea of this option. It's supposed to detect when a PC is online and then deploy the package. However, this option hasn't worked for us in the past.

### "One of the best onsite device management platforms I know."

September 18, 2025

5.0

I've been using PDQ for quite a while now. It has been crucial i rapid software deployment and knowing what's going on with my workstations.

Pros

This software really made a difference for me in terms of deploying software to workstations as well as knowing the detailed inventory. The deployment process is easy and very effective. Inventory, with it's customisable reports gives me an insight of my fleet of devices.

Cons

To be honest, I am unable to find any drawbacks, except the Inventory not doing as good job with Windows 11 machines. I have to push WIMC to have accurate data.

### "PDQ Inventory & Deployment is priceless!"

October 31, 2024

5.0

Overall very happy. The two tools work together to make maintaining a large network of computers so much easier and more efficient. Without an efficient way to gather software and hardware info, then act upon it with relevant software deployments, we would need to add another staff member.

Pros

Once you get the platform configured it has tremendous value in the host inventory and custom reporting features.

Cons

Initially, understanding the logic within the data gathering/scan profiles and custom reporting was difficult. It's not the most intuitive, but once you figure it out you can literally do anything you want with it.

### "Great Inventory and Patching System for Network Administrators"

March 13, 2024

It is a critical component in our Inventory and Security Patching process. Helps us keep systems patched so that we are less vulnerable to security threats.

Pros

You can setup automated scheduled tasks to patch systems at any time during the week or weekends. Allows patches to automatically be pushed out afterhours to avoid any system downtime.

Cons

It is mainly intended to only inventory and patch Windows products. It would be great to have more integration where it could go out and inventory printers and linux type devices.

### "PDQ is awesome!"

December 14, 2022

5.0

Everything about PDQ is amazing. Easy to use, its flexibility and continuing improvements. Really no bad things to say about it aside from keep it up and making improvements.

Pros

PDQ is an easy to use tool to scan machines for information on each machine as well as deploying apps. We use it with our deployments to segregate different builds for machines. The ability to deploy powershell scripts, install .exe files and copy files is amazing and very easy.We also calls PDQs API to deploy different things making it a central hub for app deployment. The future will be making a service that users can just call PDQ to deploy an app to them.PDQ connect has a lot of promise, which will allow us to deploy apps that are not connected to our network. Giving us more control beyondAnother plan soon will be to use PDQ for software license counts.PDQ was also easy to setup and migrate to a new server when we wanted to increase the specs of the machine it was on.

Cons

They are working towards it now, but the ability to deploy to machines beyond our network is amazing. Giving us information too and status updates on those machines so we can monitor them. Not a con but I do hope they continue adding to their PDQ inventory and API. A future request/project for us is to beable to use PDQ to keep an accurate license count of software. We have some long ideas but would love to use PDQ to keep tabs on everything for us rather than relying on basic data entry.

Reason for choosing PDQ Deploy & Inventory

This was before my time but I believe they use to pre intsall programs onto images and then deploy those or use the Microsoft Deployment Toolkit.I used PDQ at my previous work and then came here and they used it too.But comparing to the likes of ninite and chocolatey which are the only other 2 programs I have similar. PDQ is amazing!

### "Great quality of life from a very powerful program"

December 22, 2022

5.0

I have had a tremendously positive experience. I have more time on my hands to address more complicated tasks and bigger projects now that I don't have to perform repetitive tasks, and I can rest easy when I push a critical windows update because I will know which computers got the update and which ones only need to restart.

Pros

We like being able to perform the same repetitive task, deploy configurations and installations, and keep consistency across our computers. We reclaimed so much time with how fast we can now do these tasks! It is straightforward to use, and there are so many ways to perform my tasks that I only need to choose the easiest way that I know to do them. The community and knowledge base articles are a treasure trove whenever I need to do something new that I don't yet know how to do.

Cons

I think the only improvement that I would like to see is a way to know that a failure to deploy is something other than the network path was not found. If I deploy a package to multiple computers and some of them fail with an error code and some where network paths can't be found,, I need to look at each failure across multiple failed deployments to make sure that they all did not fail with an error.

### "PDQ has become the most used toolset in my career. "

August 17, 2023

5.0

This is the 2nd job I have had with PDQ. Part of the reason I was hired for this position was my knowledge of PDQ. The previous admins had purchased but no one knew how to use it. The overall system was in a neglected state. In the 9 months I have been here I have rebuilt and moved PDQ to new servers and changed the way Patch management was done. I retired WSUS because I can do all that it does and more with PDQ. So much more. And the customer support is amazing. I use it when I am stuck with what seems to be unique to our company issues and your staff makes it simple to resolve. I do believe I have become a much more efficient engineer because of PDQ. Keep up the awesome work!!

Pros

Automation is a must when you have over 400 devices. It makes complex problems much easier to accomplish.

Cons

I really have not had time to learn all of the features of your products. But that is not on PDQ. Your YouTube videos are amazing and fun to watch. Keep up the humor. That goes a long way in IT.

Reason for choosing PDQ Deploy & Inventory

I had never used PDQ until my last company had it. I began learning it there. And had them add Inventory to the list. If I were ever to move on from this company it would be a negotiation point for my position. I can't imagine doing my job without PDQ. That is how much I depend on it.

### "Fits perfect in our Organisation"

December 14, 2022

5.0

Fast Software-Deployment with a few clicks. Easy to handle. No need to visit the Users Desktop. Auto Download helps us to keep all Devices up to date.

Pros

In connection with Inventory it is very easy to deploy Updates and Tools with a few Clicks. With Automatic Deployment we get rid of annoying tasks like check and update Clients. It's nearly fire and forget :-)To create Deployment Packages is very easy. I'm able to deploy nearly any Tool within seconds without the need to visit the Desktop onsite.

Cons

Most of the Tools/Programs we're deploy with PDQ automaticaly detect and uses the OS-Language. But there are some Tools (e.g. Firefox) which does not. It was helpful to extend the Auto Download Package so that we can deploy the appropriate Language Pack. Actually we can convert the Auto Download Package to a Standard Package and modify this Standard Package. Unfortunately we lose the advantage of the auto download feature.

Reason for choosing PDQ Deploy & Inventory

Easy to handle and install PDQ Deploy and PDQ Inventory. Reliable Deployment. Works with VPN.

### "Keeping tabs with PDQ Inventory"

December 27, 2022

5.0

I started using the free version at a former job and introduced it to my team at my current job. I asked a few times for the licensed version and eventually after i produced a potential ROI document i managed to get 2 licenses for both deploy and inventory. My colleague and i get so much more accomplished leaving time for the more physical side of our jobs.

Pros

I love everything about this software. The tools are all there, command line, MMC Management, Reboot, remote assist and desktop wake... Dunamic grouping so i can keep abreast of what needs this or that software. What operating System, whether it is laptop, desktop or server. Registry printers etc etc, is there anything it cant do.

Cons

None absolutely none. With this in my tool box i save myself weeks worth of work within a year. The ROI impresses the fiscal department, our turnaround of work requests jumped staggeringly according to our quality and rounding departments.

Reason for choosing PDQ Deploy & Inventory

Honest reviews on Spiceworks from peers in my line of work, after testing the free version i was hooked.

### "Still learning"

April 15, 2022

5.0

I've only been with the company for a year and I've been tasked to manage this software, therefore, I'm still learning how to use it and learning all its functionality. The end goal is to use PDQ to automate as much as I can, including patch updating and maintenance. I have not gotten this advanced in the software just yet. When I get stuck on creating a new package, and i just feel like the software cannot possibly accommodate what I'm trying to do, but so far i've been proven wrong thanks to the support backing it. This program is pretty capable.

Pros

The quality of the product can really be hampered by it's development backers. If the support is not readily available, it can affect the quality of the product, even if the product itself is really good. I have not used much deployment software, but I do know that PDQ deploy is a much cheaper option than other provider's out there. So far the customer support has been outstanding which puts it ahead of anything else i've used.

Cons

The con is the survey requiring me to to fill out more than just saying "na"

### "PDQ is My Administrative "Go-To" Software"

December 14, 2022

5.0

Administrative tasks like software deployment, admin scripts, asset inventory, etc. is pretty much our use case. Honestly, I couldn't be more happy with any other software. Whenever I have a task I'd like to perform, PDQ is usually always there to help me in my deployment process.

Pros

Being able to create PowerShell and CMD scripts to run locally on a device is amazing. I've created multiple scripts that run easier from PDQ than from a PSSession (i.e., administrative tasks that are denied access).

Cons

There is a learning curve somewhat. I did dive in without reading too much of the help dialog, but I think I understand most of what I need for my environment (i.e., inventory dynamic groups, deployment packages, etc.).

Reason for choosing PDQ Deploy & Inventory

The software has never let me down. I've always been able to succeed with what I need to do while using PDQ

### "THE Best application for the money in the IT space!"

July 2, 2021

5.0

We have been using PDQ for the past 10 years and it keeps getting better and better. The installs are fast and responsive. Their video training is excellent as well as the videos are straight and to the point with great screen captures and explanations. We will never be without PDQ!

Pros

This application allows us to push out "one off" applications and gives us the ability to know right away if the application install was successful. They have a ton of templates built for commonly used applications and constantly updating their pushes and templates. Their support is second to none! They are super responsive and always willing to go above and beyond in helping our team with application pushes that are out of the ordinary. If an application fails to install successfully from a push, you can also email support right from the error message without having to do copy and paste. More support teams should follow their lead. I can't say enough good things about them.

Cons

Honestly, I don't have any cons about this software.
