Plus. It's hard to really complain about something that doesn't cost anything. The overall look and feel of it is dated and definitely minor leagues compared to powerhouses like Gmail and Outlook and Yahoo Mail, but taken as is, it works and gets the job done. Pros Free platform to set up and manage multiple email addresses for a custom domain. It's super easy to set up individual email accounts and groups. Cons While creating email accounts with easy, managing them was not so much. Often you would get errors that made no sense even though everything seemed to be working. Also, the user interface could be improved as it seems a bit dated and clunky. And email classifications such as Newsletter and Notification would often mis-categorize emails causing you to miss important emails at first. Pros Zoho Mail offers a pretty clean interface, both for the user and administrator. They seem to update the software on a pretty frequent basis, though not so often that changes are an annoyance. Zoho even offers a free tier for teams while still allowing you to use your own domain name. You can also access your Zoho account from almost any mobile app, and setup is pretty straightforward with the knowledge base provided. Cons We've had some issues where mail seems to be filtered different for some people, compared to others. For example some users have had their automated mail, e.g. newsletters, password verification, sent to a "notifications" folder, rather than their inbox, while others have not had this. We've also had a few issues receiving email from certain senders, while this doesn't seem to happen with other email providers. All features you could expect from the best email clients, and I really like the interface and the app. I still use gmail for my personal email, but switched all business to Zoho, and it helps have a real and nice transition. Pros I really enjoy the simple and pretty user interface, the connection with my CRM which makes it easy to keep data flowing, and the mobile app. Cons So far, I have very few things to say about the cons of Zoho Mail. There are two of us that needed mail accounts, so the fees are very low. They even set us up with SSL certs for custom mail endpoints. Pros Zoho Mail is very easy to use. For $1/user/month for the base plan, it's very budget conscious. I like the different options the paid plan allows for like SMTP, IMAP, etc. I use my own mail client most of the time, but the web client is very functional. It integrates nicely with my phone as well. Cons The free plan is a good starting point. However, if you want to use IMAP, for example, you only get that with paid plans. They used to provide these services to the free accounts as well. This is a very good value for an e-mail hosting service that allows you to use your own domain name. It also offers extensive sorting/filtering options for your e-mails, such as spam or blacklist filters, which ensures that you only see what you want to see in your inbox. It offers tons of different customization options, so you can get it to look exactly the way you want it to look. It also links well with other Zoho web apps, if you have additional business features on Zoho platforms. Cons By default, it will automatically sort your e-mails into folders it thinks are appropriate, such as "Promotions", "Newsletters", etc. Which, if you aren't aware that it's doing this, could lead you to miss out on e-mails because you didn't check the separate, additional folder that Zoho decided to create for that type of e-mail. While the actual linking with a domain name was easy, it was very difficult to set up all of the security features. It would be nice if it was a little more guided or gave some assisted with that process (or just more easily linked with the domain provider). It is the best e-mail service provider for tight-budget small businesses and startups. Pros I love to use Zoho Apps. There are a lot of Zoho products that are seamlessly connected with each other, from billing/subscription management to the office tools, they offer a wide range of products. Also, their price per mailbox is the most affordable price compared to the others (Google Suite, Microsoft 365). Their admin panel is easy to use and provides lots of customizable options. Cons Although this is the most affordable custom mail service, it does not make sense to get charged per mailbox. They have a free-version, but it does not allowed to use SMTP/POP3/IMAP so if you are using free version you have no choice but to use Zoho's official web and mobile apps. We can set up mail forwarding with relative ease, and I am likely to upgrade Zoho Mail rather than switch to G-Suite if my needs expand. Pros It's a low bar, but that it's free. In reality, for personal and dispoable domains, you probably don't need the overhead of G-Suite/Office 365. My main requirement was having a free IMAP email for various domains. It handles this task amazingly well, i.e. I've never seen their services go down. Cons If you access email predominantly through a web interface, compared to modern email clients online, Zoho Mail is quite sparse. The UI is decisively... retro, which isn't the worst thing. Just don't expect it to be as feature complete as GSuite et al. If you need more, or want to scale up to meet the demands of your operation, they have incremental pricing that handles everyone. We have never seen a minute of downtime even during a widely reported ISP issue with their own host. Cons There is the odd and rare occasion where their Junk filter will stop certain mail from reaching our forwarders, while this is a rarity it has happened with important invoices and other documents that were lost for a period of time or forcibly resent by the original sender. Similarly, on occasion the forward will fail to one or more addresses however we are given a report of the failing and as such can't really complain, since this literally resolves itself. Migration was easy, and Pros It's easy to sign up and get your e-mail migrated over. They provide a simple web interface that does all I need it to. Zoho also provides secure IMAP connectivity, if you want to use a separate e-mail client. Zoho is competitively priced, and is easily worth the cost of entry for anyone who needs basic e-mail services. Cons The Zoho Mail design isn't particularly beautiful, as software user interfaces go, but it's functional and straightforward. A cleaner, modern UI would be nice, but I'm not complaining either. Overall, it's a helpful tool regarding email communications. Pros This is one of the best emails we've used. There's a lot to love about it, but my personal favorite is that it "reads" your emails and gives you suggestions - e.g. if you wrote "attachment" in your email, but forgot to add the attached file - it reminds you to do so. Also, if you mention a date or a time period, it asks you to create a reminder for that event. Cons I like everything about Zoho Mail, except for one tiny detail. The only issue with it is that when you create different folders in your mailbox, the emails come in the inbox as well in addition to the corresponding folder. It would be nice to have some kind of a filter so those emails will appear only in the folder because your inbox can easily become overwhelmed if you receive lots of emails, as we do. So, there is no junk in your inbox. You have full control over that. The delivery rate for personal emails is very good. The Mass emailing feature is not user-friendly for a first-time user. But with time you can get hang of it. Cons Well, integration issues are a common pain point for every Zoho user. The integrations can break anytime and you get a notification. February 22, 2018 5.0 Pros When all other email providers stopped allowing you to connect a domain name, Zoho Mail didn't. Best of all, they kept it free. You are able to quickly set up your account with their helpful guides, and get email services working almost instantaneously. I use it for all of my businesses, and each has its own custom domain name, so Zoho is indispensable. The support team is great, super polite people here, and work hard to help with whatever they can. Cons I hate the new theme. It loads very slowly, I wish we could choose old vs new version. Lately when I log in there have been new domain things that need done quite often, which is kind of a hassle as when I check my domain servers, I'd already done those things and Zoho just needed them refreshed to something new or something. It can be quite annoying. But again, the service is free, and is tops for what they offer. One thing I'd love to see is a separate newsletter platform where people can buy their own IP for cheap, so indie authors could work on marketing without being worried about cost or being dropped from mail services like we are now.
