After using Sage 50 Accounting, these tasks have become much more organized. I like that financial information is available in one place, so checking previous records or reviewing expenses does not take much effort. Another thing I appreciate is that the software feels reliable for everyday accounting work. Once the initial setup is completed, entering records, reviewing transactions, and checking reports become part of the normal routine. Its reliable desktop software with some good cloud features for remote access. the customer support is great, they have been helpful when i called. Pros The job costing and inventory tracking are excellent , they actually helps me see real profit per project instead of just guessing. invoicing is fast and professional, bank reconciliation works smoothly, and the reports are detailed and customizable without needing an accountant to figure them out. i also like that it is not a constant subscription trap like some cloud tools. Cons The interface looks a bit dated compared to newer cloud apps, and the mobile app could be better for checking things on the go. Occasional minor glitches when doing complex reports, but nothing that stops me from getting work done. The data layer is reliable, exports are clean, and ODBC connectivity made integration work manageable. It is not the most developer friendly product out there, and the performance ceiling becomes visible at scale. That said, for a small to mid size business that needs dependable desktop accounting without cloud dependency, it does the job well and does not create the kind of messy data problems that make integrations painful. Pros I got pulled into supporting Sage 50 when our finance team needed help with a data export issue, and I ended up spending more time with it than expected. Pros It is easy to use and very intuitive. Reconciliations are easy to do and you can fix items really easily when mistakes are made. Also customer support is excellent as if you have any issues there is always someone you can talk to to get them fixed. They are also very knowledgeable about the product and never talk down to you if you've done something stupid. The reporting system is easy to use and very effective in producing departmental P&Ls etc. Also the guides that Sage have are easy to find and very easy to follow. I would definitely recommend Sage to anyone as I find it saves time so is value for money. Cons I do not like the invoicing system. You can either go through the supplier or go to invoices and generate a new one, which is confusing and if you delete an invoice it does not always delete on the customer. Also once you save an invoice it disappears which means you have to go back into the invoice to print and put the invoice to the ledger. They do need to step up some of the usability functions against others in the marketplace and make it more user friendly on external access. Pros I like Sage 50 for its structure. It sticks to debit/credit displays and accounting principles more than other software. This structure, while a bit more challenging to learn without a strong accounting background keeps you from making errors that can happen in other software that is looser for a beginner Cons The Sage Knowledge base and the complexity of multi-user loggins and access. You need to know what you are doing. No HST exceptions reporting - this is an extremely useful tool available in other software. Cons not compatible with the new outlook, only compatible with Microsoft for sending emails... cost overall for yearly licenses is expensive for a small business... lacks certain reporting abilities that I would like to be able to access more easily. It is easy to use but ONLY because I am familiar with the programme. I like that I can upload spreadsheets with extra data. I like that it is desktop and therefore faster to use. The regular reports are not easy for decision makers to read so I find it is used by us as accounting technicians rather than as a proactive tool for analysis.
