It is easy for individuals who may feel intimidated to handle payroll or banking. It is user friendly and anyone can use it. Pros As a business owner it was important to be able to pay my contractors in an efficient, professional but also convenient way. QuickBooks Payroll allowed me to onboard new contractors while being able to keep track of my current contractors. It was easy to set up banking information from my institution and also for contractors who did direct deposit. Cons QuickBooks is extremely efficient. From invoicing and tracking expenses to preparing for tax time, it streamlines many of the tasks that used to take hours. While the pricing can increase with add-ons, the time saved and overall functionality make it a worthwhile investment for growing businesses Pros Create and send professional invoices Accept online payments (credit card, ACH, etc.) Set up automatic reminders and recurring invoices Cons The way that everything costs extra and really starts to add up. For example: features like Payroll, Time Tracking, and Inventory Management are not included in base plans. Annual price increases — Intuit often raises subscription prices, especially for QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop. Multiple users = higher cost — Want to add more than one team member? That’s often an extra fee. Support access is tiered — Priority customer support is only included in higher-priced plans. We had an employee to put the wrong bank info in for direct deposit and QBP is not quick to correct the debit from my account. I had to write a check and now i have 2 debited payrolls for the employee, 7 days later no refund showing yet despite assurance it will refund soon. I will follow up. Pros Easy to view employees, their hours, set job expectations, easy to setup employees when hired on. Easy to fix issues if they arise. Cons The cost is rising and we barely need all the services provided. There should be a la cart options for building our own package of services needed vs jumping to the next substantial cost increase. Pros I love the ability to automate payroll for set hourly and salary employees. I also appreciate the ability to automate payroll tax accruals for filing and payments. Cons I noticed that the software doesn't calculate Simple IRA deductions as it should for pre-tax deductions and I have to manually calculate and change on each payroll. Financial Controller Construction Used the software for: 2+ years ### "QuickBooks Payroll Should Have Their License Revoked " November 19, 2024 1.0 We have been using QuickBooks online payroll for almost 3 years now. In July of this year, we discovered issues with accrual calculations and syncing errors. Not only has this issue not been fixed 4 months later, but we have now discovered system calculations have been incorrect for some time, shorting our employees of vacation earnings. While their engineers have been working on a fix, they managed to delete our payroll data, which they have not been able to recover. In over 20 years in the financial industry, I have never experienced or heard of anything like this. The most alarming part is that they show little concern or urgency in correcting this issue. They should not be able to sell or operate a malfunctioning financial system and deserve to have their business license revoked. Not only will we be moving to a new system asap, but we will also be reporting them to the Canadian Financial Consumer Agency. Considering QuickBooks is one of the largest accounting systems in the world, it is shocking they can operate such a flawed system. STAY AWAY!!!! Pros Absolutely nothing! This system and their constant updates is full or errors. Cons Everything! We have uncovered a disaster issue noted in detail below. The larger our company became we had to transition to something more substantial to handle Out of state Payrolls and Certified Payrolls. But for smaller companies - Works just fine. Pros Very easy to use. Easy to make changes. User friendly for employees entering their time. Great starter app. Cons Did not do multi-state payroll. Does not do Certified Payroll - Davis Bacon Wages. Customer Support is only through an email. Can't connect with anyone on a call.
