A variety of the usual payroll options are available such as different payperiod set up option, ability to split employee paychecks, and many chance to review input data before finalizing. Pros QuickBooks Payroll is intuitive to use making payroll a breeze. It is easy to correct errors and make adjustments before final submission and even then I have found the customer service team to be very helpful. Cons Sometimes it can be difficult to integrate with time tracking software but that is more likely because of the time tracking software than QuickBooks Payroll. Review Source Bryan J. Quickbooks worked hand in hand with my small business. Pros It helped streamlined my payroll for my employees in an easy manner to understand. I loved how the spreedsheets worked and was able to calculate monetary amounts. Pros It works seamlessly with QuickBooks accounting software, making it easier to manage both payroll and finances in one place. And tax filing, I love that I don’t have to add all employees records one by one Cons I’ve only experienced a couple glitches using the app. Sometimes it crashes but it’s no big deal, it happens rarely Review Source AM Alicia M. We had an employee to put the wrong bank info in for direct deposit and QBP is not quick to correct the debit from my account. I had to write a check and now i have 2 debited payrolls for the employee, 7 days later no refund showing yet despite assurance it will refund soon. I will follow up. Pros Easy to view employees, their hours, set job expectations, easy to setup employees when hired on. Easy to fix issues if they arise. Cons The cost is rising and we barely need all the services provided. While it does streamline some processes, its cost does not justify the added convenience. While price changes are normal in business, there does not seem to be enough communication or justification for the price changes with QuickBooks Payroll. Pros QuickBooks Payroll makes it easy to set up employee payroll. It calculates and updates payroll taxes, and it allows easy payment of taxes to the applicable state and federal governments. We use it daily, which I believe makes all the difference. Pros QuickBooks Payroll has been a system we've used at our company for many years. It's easy and offers a good experience when running payroll. Cons Sometimes the file runs a little slow. With that being said, it's nowhere near a big enough con for us to stop using it. Financial Controller Construction Used the software for: 2+ years ### "QuickBooks Payroll Should Have Their License Revoked " November 19, 2024 1.0 We have been using QuickBooks online payroll for almost 3 years now. In July of this year, we discovered issues with accrual calculations and syncing errors. Not only has this issue not been fixed 4 months later, but we have now discovered system calculations have been incorrect for some time, shorting our employees of vacation earnings. While their engineers have been working on a fix, they managed to delete our payroll data, which they have not been able to recover. In over 20 years in the financial industry, I have never experienced or heard of anything like this. The most alarming part is that they show little concern or urgency in correcting this issue. They should not be able to sell or operate a malfunctioning financial system and deserve to have their business license revoked. Not only will we be moving to a new system asap, but we will also be reporting them to the Canadian Financial Consumer Agency. Considering QuickBooks is one of the largest accounting systems in the world, it is shocking they can operate such a flawed system. STAY AWAY!!!! Pros Absolutely nothing! This system and their constant updates is full or errors. Cons Everything! We have uncovered a disaster issue noted in detail below. I know it was a nightmare because my employers billing department has to eventually switch payroll companies and we got physical checks for about 2 months during the transition. Pros I used to be on a Quickbooks Payroll by an employer and what I liked the most was that I was able to quickly access and view my pay stabs a couple days prior to actual pay day so I was able to achieve money management with easy projection. Cons What I liked least about QuickBooks was bugs and issues that the billing department encountered with processing bi-weekly pay roll, it was even worse with cut-off times, deadlines and holidays. While the software excels with its seamless integration into QuickBooks accounting, users frequently report frustration with extremely long hold times and being transferred between agents who often lack the specialized knowledge to resolve complex tax or payroll errors, which can be critical for a financial service. It's easy to use, but not intuitive and hard to work with if you have to change something. Pros It makes it super easy to use, even filing quarterly and annual reports automatically without any input from the owner. Cons The downside is that it does a lot of things automatically, even if they aren't correct. It can be hard for new business owners to understand what's happening in the background for them. This is an old fashion way of performing payroll. Through QuickBooks desktop payroll we were able to schedule our liability payments as well. I like that you would be able to see everything in one place, but I would not be able to be sure that it went through. Cons I don't like the fact that is very rigid, and that is not easy to change payroll from direct deposit to check. Sometimes my clients would be hard-pressed for payroll that period. I no longer use this because I no longer need to manage my own payroll, however because of how simple the platform was in general, and for headline figures, I would use it again. Pros Typically it is easier to use than other market leaders. Once you are familiar with the platform it is easy to find what you need, the inclusion of a bookmarking/favourites feature helps with this also. Cons On some aspects of Payroll, it seemed to over complicate the process, such as whenever you made changes to an employee, the process could be simplified to be more streamline and also less jargon and more helpful tips and text for functions relating to payroll specifically such as NI rates etc. Switched from [Xero](https://www.capterra.com/p/120109/Xero/) Xero didn't offer the features at the time and was really over complicated. It was just very frustrating when you needed to do something that required calling customer service. Pros Easy to use. Great report options. Easy to run tax reports and pay quarterly/annually. I promptly contacted support and was told it would be fixed. It was not. The problem remained through September of 2024, despite over a dozen conversation I had with their support team. I ultimately canceled my subscription and hired a local payroll company instead. Pros QuickBooks Payroll was fine until I needed support. At that point, it was cumbersome and frustrating to deal with agent after agent over multiple tickets and months to address the issue, which was never ultimately resolved. Cons Their support is completely lacking. If you need any level of professional service, work with a payroll company directly. I literally spend hours of my time talking and chatting with their support to address what they described as a "software issue" with my account.
