### "Quickbooks online sucks"

April 9, 2024

1.0

(-10)/100 - this has been such a negative experience I would take any other platform, payroll company or online payroll service than this. Terrible.

Pros

nothing, it was difficult and complicated to setup, the online service was subpar and I was unable to export data across two companies

Cons

Payroll was the worst! Do not try payroll with this platform, it sucks.

### "QuickBooks user for many years"

May 17, 2023

5.0

Overall I have been pleased with QuickBooks Payroll.

Pros

Since we use time tracking in QuickBooks it makes payroll very easy with an automatic import into paychecks.

Cons

The cost is fairly high, but cheaper than an outside service. Tech support is not easy to work with.

### "A Good Payroll Option for Simple Payroll"

August 2, 2022

3.0

Overall this is a great option for sole proprietors or very small companies that have a simple payroll requirement. There is not really any support for payroll which has employees performing work in multiple states. If your payroll is not very complicated, I would recommend giving Quickbooks Payroll a shot, however the more complex your payroll is, the more I would recommend looking elsewhere for a payroll option. It can be very convenient to use your accounting software to run payroll since there is no need for payroll entry since it is already in the system.

Pros

\- Pretty good for simple payroll (hourly/salary employees in one state) - Simple to use - Easy to teach and implement with new clients

Cons

\- Cumbersome implementation of complex payroll - Difficult to edit payroll and employee details aside from very basic aspects - "Not fantastic" customer support

### "Why did I wait so long?."

April 5, 2024

5.0

I just wish I used this sooner. It’s easy for someone to use who isn’t knowledgeable at payroll and it’s a time-saver for those who do!

Pros

I avoided QB payroll because I thought I was going to have to do everything on my own. Man, was I wrong! This is the easiest software to understand and use. Definitely love that it takes care of tax deductions and filings for me.

Cons

Nothing so far! QB payroll is a breeze.

### "Quick QuickBooks "

February 14, 2023

5.0

Pleasure and quick and easy to get up and running. Not the least expensive but definitely worth it with all of the available feature and customizable options.

Pros

Mostly easy set up and was able to get my account up and running and paying my employees.

Cons

Some features required me to pay additional fees and the subscriptions to different types of accounts and services got a bit confusing at first.

### "Excellent product for any business, large or small!"

February 19, 2022

It has been excellent overall

Pros

The sound if time j save on payroll. I pay weekly so this saves me literally weeks a year of tax preparation and makes sure I don't get audited.

Cons

I had never used a payroll product so it took a little bit of learning but that was my inexperience.

Reason for choosing QuickBooks Payroll

### "Payroll a must when you start hiring"

June 19, 2023

5.0

It's really important to understand how to initially set up your employees and all the federal and State or local taxes. There is a good amount of help and support on this and mistakes will be made. Once you have everything set up it works smoothly. I recommend not waiting until the deadlines of things due so you leave some room to make corrections.

Pros

All the important and necessary features are included in the QB payroll. If you want to get more fancy and have time tracking that can be added and imported. Otherwise it's ready to use out of the box.

Cons

The features didn't change but prices went up for the service, per user fees.

Reason for choosing QuickBooks Payroll

Already using and integrated in Quickbooks desktop and prefer to stay in one ecosystem.

### "Quickbooks Payroll Review"

Having an online platform for payroll has been really helpful with work from home situations

Pros

Payrol is really easy to set up. I loved when you adjusted hours for salaried employees it auto calculated the changes for you.

Cons

I wasn't able to set internal control that could allow the accounting staff to have full access to the program other than payroll which created an issue for us with confidentiality

Reason for choosing QuickBooks Payroll

We didn't look at any other

### "I'm a happy camper."

May 17, 2021

5.0

Very good to outstanding overall. The software itself is very good and keeps improving. Also, as the market leader, they have many local CPA's that integrates into the software as "local experts", so when I have a question I can typically ask my CPA firm and they can help, or whenever there has been a problem that they can't solve, they are able to contact support on my behalf. Overall the system works pretty well.

Pros

The payroll service is really easy overall. All the tasks that I use are quite simple to navigate around, including adding new employees, paying employees, and sending out payroll liability payments. These are what I do most often and they've been really simplified by Quickbooks. Other functions that I use are payroll deductions (401k, etc), tracking sick/vacation time, and managing direct deposit. Another feature I like (part of QB Online, not sure about Desktop), is that employees are emailed a link to join their payroll management website, where they can access payroll stubs, W2's etc. It has made managing a lot of the HR parts of hiring employees much more streamlined.

Cons

Not really a con, but I don't have any experience with any of the direct competitors, e.g. Freshbooks, Sage, Xero, etc., so I can't say if Quickbooks does anything better or worse than those others. But what I can say is that I did switch from Quickbooks Desktop to Quickbooks Online, which is a much better experience overall (although more expensive).

### "QuickBooks Review"

February 14, 2020

4.0

Personally I like quickbooks for the most part. My biggest issue is when I do call customer service for something I always get a different answer to the same question. It seems like most of the customer service reps don't actually know so they tell you what they think is right. It has been so frustrating that if \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\] hadn't helped me I would have seriously considered another avenue then keeping quickbooks. I spoke with 6 different people about a corrections case and every time I was given conflicting information to the same question. \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\] was the only rep that has really known what he was talking about and took the time to call me the next day and resolve the issue while also providing with the email to verify he was correct. He did a great job and i truly appreciate him. The res of your reps I have spoken to since March really don't seem to know and when I mention that they are providing conflicting info they blame it on "oh well sorry that person was mistaken." That is not acceptable.

Pros

The ability to run payroll efficiently, early and make edits before payday if need be. Also printing previous pay checks and payroll summary is very helpful

Cons

some of the reports are more complicated than they need to be and the credit card sync is not fluid. it creates too many duplicates when there is a business credit account with multiple cards on the same credit account.

### "Easiest payroll software I have used"

October 18, 2022

5.0

It has been easy to take over clients' payroll services with the ease of use with QBO Payroll. Simple to use and intuitive.

Pros

Intuitive, easy to navigate, lots of options for pay-type, can have some employees on auto payroll. Like that we can cut separate checks/check-runs when necessary. I appreciate the email reminders about payroll cut-off date/time. As an employee and Payroll admin, I appreciate the Workforce component so I can view my payroll, deductions settings and get my W-2.

Cons

I don't know anything that I don't like. I am accustomed to using it and have used the QB training. The chat support does sometimes get busy so I have to wait.

### "Good until the disaster"

June 29, 2022

1.0

By using Quickbooks Payroll, the regular extortion to pay $$$ to update the software gets yet more frequent. We were forced to upgrade in mid 2020 during the worst of the pandemic when our office was closed. But it was "upgrade or too bad," so we had no choice. After spending several hundred to upgrade, we learned that our payroll wasn't filed anyway. We were later told, "you need to run a ZERO PAYROLL after upgrading the software" which of course nobody tells us that anywhere. After years of paying for their service, we were terminated without notice, nobody bothered to pick up a phone and call "hey, 5 years of our service and you're about to be cancelled, was this your intent?"

Pros

It integrated the accounting features and the payroll so no need to carry over numbers from one platform to another.

Cons

We incurred many thousands in penalties due to incompetence of the Quickbooks Payroll system that caused us to lose our payroll service after spending dearly on it for many years, and a general, "shut up and just pay us our money" attitude from Quickbooks with zero interest in solving any problems for a small business. Maybe they treat the big companies better, I have no clue.

Easy to use, easy to set up and get going

Pros

The ease of importing hours, processing payroll (including through direct deposit), keep track of taxes, and processing annual W2s.

### "Quickbooks Online Payroll"

March 26, 2020

5.0

The software continues to be very efficient and provides ease of use. However, the confidence I have in customer service is what makes me stick with this software and not look elsewhere for an alternative.

Pros

Ease of implementation and constant guidance available from customer service to resolve any issue. Also the ability to access and run payroll from any device that can reach the internet provides so much productivity.

Cons

The Elite payroll service seems so restrictive. I cannot access many of the settings or execute many of the functions that I could through the Core payroll service. To change these settings I need to go through customer service, which was very confusing and frustrating during the implementation of the payroll service.

Reason for choosing QuickBooks Payroll

Years of experience with the product and with the customer service of this product.

December 6, 2022

Pros

I find the software program very user friendly and you get all the necessary updates to the payroll tax’s and the compliance with taxes stays on track.

Cons

The only con that I have personally can across is that the direct deposit option should be included price wise in either the payroll fee every year that you pay to use the payroll software.

### " QuickBooks Payroll Review"

February 28, 2020

5.0

Good but the items above have to be corrected for us to be completely satisfied.

Pros

We use the Intuit Full Service payroll. \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\] was very helpful the other day spending many ous on the phone with me in efforts to correct our issue.

Cons

There are two CONS I want to mention. Both of them do not have to do with the service \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\] provided. 1 - it is very difficult to get a hold of a representative on the phone. We have desktop version of Quickbooks. The Intuit Full Service payroll advertises we should use a feature embedded in Quickbooks online to call speak to a representative. We do not have that option as we do not use the online version of the software. This needs to be attended to. No one wants to be on hold for 45 minutes to be able to talk to a representative. 2 - the IIF file import form Intuit Full Service payroll to desktop Quickbooks has a flaw. \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\] and I spent hours the other day talking to Quickbooks desktop people and although they found a fix, it was just one-time fix. Please, refer to the service ticket \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\] and I were working on for details. This also requires immediate attention.

### "New to Quickbooks auto payroll"

April 8, 2020

5.0

I'm very new to Quickbooks Payroll but my experience thus far has been nothing short of great. I have been using other Quickbooks products for many years though and I'm very satisfied with Quickbooks as a whole.

Pros

This software includes all the features I was looking for in one place and for a great price. My main concern as a business owner was ease of usage, accessibility and automation. This software met all these requirements and then some. The interface is very easy to navigate and user friendly and I can access everything whether I'm at home, office or on the go with their array of applications. Once everything is set up properly, there's no need to worry about it which is a huge time saver for me. I'm very busy as it is meeting clients, drafting proposals and doing the accounting, so anything I can automate reliably is of great help.

Cons

The actual set up of the payroll was a lengthy process and required to have a lot of information on hand but I wouldn't really consider this too much of a con since I had one of their amazing specialists helping me with every single step of the process. She did almost of all the work for me if I'm being honest, I just inputted data as instructed. She was very thorough and thought of concerns I didn't even think about. Just make sure you have ample time to get through the whole set up calmly.

ADP was very expensive in comparison to Quickbooks. I was paying more than double of what I pay now ONLY for payroll services, whereas with Quickbooks I get full service automated payroll and accounting for half the price. Mind you, even Quickbooks top tier bundle service, it's still cheaper than ADP and offers so much more.

### "Service and support have taken a huge turn for the worse"

April 20, 2016

2.5

Pros

Initially, before they took data away from the end user, I liked everything.

Cons

The customer service has become deplorable as of this writing. Never used to be that way. I have been without my payroll data since 1/16, and after 16 separate phone calls, each running through the same steps over and over, the same results. Nothing. Keep being informed that the "engineering team" is on it, but still no resolutions. They promise to call you back later that day, no call. So, I call back the next morning, and have to go through the entire scenario yet again. At this point in time, I'm researching other payroll companies. Intuit keeps sending me emails reminding me about payroll being due, tax forms being due... and I can't access any of the information to file it. Today, 4/19/16, I was told that there was a big software problem, that I wasn't the only one experiencing it... but, it literally took them 16 separate phone calls from me, no return phone calls from them AT ALL, and me finally getting angry and raising cain before they divulged that information. Not at all happy with Intuit right now. Several years ago, they surveyed users as to how to best run payroll. I was very VERY happy with having the data remain with me, backed up with them, and me filing electronically with the information in my computer. They decided to have everything "secured" in their hands. I stated my concern that the potential arrises to having our information trapped if they have any software or hardware issues... "Oh, no sir!! That would never happen!!" .... and now, I have zero access to my accounts and information. And the only response I got today after raising hell, is, "You have to wait and be patient, sir." ... I would have to say be cautious when deciding to use Intuit right now.

### "QuickBooks Payroll"

Does not satisfy our business needs however, at this time we have to use it to perform payroll, once we find a suitable product we will be cancelling our Quickbooks Payroll.

Pros

Direct deposit was easily setup. Adding a new employee was also easy to set up.

Cons

Hard to find things needed pertaining to payroll, when completing payroll it does not give an overview of what was inputted until after you submit it with out going back to completed screens.

Reason for choosing QuickBooks Payroll

We used invoicing with Quickbooks online so we added the payroll module.

### "Customer Service - Needs improved"

September 6, 2022

4.0

Purchased the product on 7/16 and have yet to have one payroll run correctly. Had to reset program three times, failed to link with bank, etc. Quickbooks charged an NSF fee for an error created by one Quickbooks "highly" qualified staff. I am invested more than 30 hours on calls with Quickbooks payroll and spoken to approximately 12 employees. Staff make promises but no results. If it works someday, the program will be great.

Pros

Quick calculation of payroll Interface with general accounting

Cons

The time I have invested in getting the product to work correctly. The lack of qualified Customer Service staff to assist. Most CSR are not trained in the product and are trying to relay information to staff via chat or message.

### "If you are using contractors, QB online Premium is not a good solution"

February 2, 2021

4.0

Overall good product, but frustrating for the segment that manages contractor payments.

Pros

pretty easy to use set up easily integrated in QuickBooks Online

Cons

Biggest issues are: -Customer service transfers you around many times because no one owns the issues with payroll with contractors. - Time drain - Normal issues have either taken multiple calls to resolve, or have taken hours on the phone because if an agent hangs up, they cannot continue to work on your issue - they have to take the next call - so they waste your time waiting while someone tries to read the full manual to figure it out, when in fact, it is a recent programming changes issue. - Integration with other Apps - You cannot integrate a time card app because only hours are uploaded from app to QuickBooks and we cannot map $/hr pay for contractors, only employees. Who focuses on contractor payments? - RECENT "improvements" and rate increase double the cost of the tool for my company.

Reason for choosing QuickBooks Payroll

thought it was going to be easy to use
