Overall, my experience is that this is a "love it or hate it" relationship. When it is set up correctly, it is an absolute workhorse that saves time and provides incredible insight into the business . However, the setup process is not intuitive; you really need to commit to learning it or hire a pro to configure it . I would rate it highly for functionality, but poorly for value for money and support responsiveness. It is perfect for a growing mid-sized business that needs robust data, but overkill (and too expensive) for a smaller operation.

Pros

The sheer power and depth of the features are what I appreciate most. It handles complex business needs effortlessly, particularly advanced inventory management (like FIFO costing and barcode scanning), detailed and customizable reporting, and the ability to manage a high volume of transactions without crashing . It feels like a piece of "serious software" for companies that have outgrown basic systems, offering the robust functionality needed for manufacturing, construction, or multi-location retail

Cons

Without a doubt, the high cost and the clunky customer support are the biggest downsides. The subscription model is significantly more expensive than other versions, and the price quickly escalates when you add more users or need specific modules like advanced payroll . Additionally, while the software itself is powerful, getting help can be frustrating—support often feels like an upsell opportunity, and resolving issues requires repeating information multiple times .

My overall experience with QuickBooks Enterprise has been disappointing. While the software offers a wide range of features, the reliability issues we encountered outweighed the benefits. Payment transactions did not always post correctly, leading to inaccurate financial data and requiring significant time to investigate and correct discrepancies. What was most frustrating was the lack of effective support. Despite multiple contacts with customer service and attempts to escalate the issues, we were unable to obtain a timely resolution. Communication was poor, follow-up was inconsistent, and even messages sent to executive-level contacts went unanswered. For a financial management platform, accuracy and support are critical. When you cannot fully trust your financial reports and cannot get meaningful assistance when problems arise, it becomes difficult to rely on the software for day-to-day business operations. Unfortunately, that has been our experience with QuickBooks Enterprise

Pros

I have used QuickBooks for years, but my recent experience has been extremely disappointing. The biggest issue is that payments are not posting correctly, creating unnecessary accounting headaches and forcing us to spend valuable time researching discrepancies that should never occur in financial software. When you rely on an accounting platform to provide accurate financial data, payment processing errors are simply unacceptable. What makes the situation even worse is the lack of customer support. Multiple attempts to resolve these issues through customer service resulted in little to no meaningful assistance. Escalations went nowhere, and even emails sent to the Office of the \[sensitive content hidden\] have gone unanswered. Imagine using financial software and being unable to confidently run financial reports because the underlying payment data cannot be trusted. The entire purpose of accounting software is to provide accurate financial information, yet that becomes impossible when transactions are not recorded properly. For a company that markets itself as a leader in accounting solutions, the lack of accountability and responsiveness is incredibly frustrating. Until these issues are addressed and customer support improves significantly, I cannot recommend QuickBooks to other businesses.

What I liked least about QuickBooks Enterprise was the reliability of its payment processing and the lack of effective customer support when issues arose. Payments were not consistently posting correctly, which created discrepancies in our financial records and made it difficult to trust the accuracy of financial reports. For accounting software, accurate financial data is essential, and these issues significantly impacted our operations. When we sought assistance, customer support was unable to provide a satisfactory resolution. Escalations were slow or nonexistent, and even emails sent to higher levels of management went unanswered. The combination of software issues and poor support made what should have been straightforward accounting tasks unnecessarily time-consuming and frustrating.

Could make the interface much easier. Make it integrate with your bank account and offer ways to categorise your transactions

That level of configurability is a big reason it’s used in more complex business environments. On the downside, it can feel heavy and not very intuitive for new users. The interface is dense, and the learning curve is real—especially for people without an accounting background. Performance and setup can also become more demanding as data grows or as more features are enabled. I didn’t literally “choose” QuickBooks Enterprise over alternatives in a real-world sense, but based on the comparisons we discussed, the reasons it stands out against tools like Microsoft Outlook Calendar-style ecosystems don’t apply here—instead it’s more about accounting platforms such as mid-market bookkeeping or lighter accounting systems. Against those, the main reasons Enterprise tends to be preferred are: It offers much deeper accounting functionality than simpler tools. Features like advanced inventory management, job costing, detailed class tracking, and customizable financial reporting are built in, whereas many alternatives either don’t include them or require add-ons. It also scales better for complex businesses. As transaction volume, users, and reporting needs grow, Enterprise is designed to handle that complexity without forcing a migration to a completely different system too quickly. Another reason is control. You get a high degree of customization in the Chart of Accounts, permissions, reporting, and workflows, which is important for businesses with established processes that don’t want to adapt to rigid software structures. Finally, integration within its own ecosystem is strong. Payroll, invoicing, accounts payable/receivable, inventory, and reporting all connect directly to the same ledger, which reduces fragmentation.

Overall, I recommend this product. The ease of report running is the biggest win for my use. The integration with banks is seamless.

Pros

Ease of running reports and searching for expenses and invoice payments. Our accountants recommended it because it can integrate with other systems.

Cons

There are often pricing increases and sometimes it's hard to reach customer service so you have to rely on the chatbots for help.

Cloud based and multiple user friendly so both my accountant and business partner can access anywhere and see what I'm doing.

Cons

Cost well over doubled & constant, confusing and useless updates make it hard to use when its always changing.
