### "Terrible experience – impossible to cancel and still being charged"

I had an extremely frustrating experience with Grasshopper. First, their cancellation process is unnecessarily complicated. They require you to submit a reason online, generate a case number, and then call in to actually cancel. Even after doing all that, I had to go through multiple automated prompts before finally reaching someone who could help. By the time I got through, our phone number had already been ported to another provider, meaning Grasshopper was no longer providing any service. Despite that, they continued to charge us. When I asked for a refund for the months we were not using the service, I was told the representative “did not have the option” to issue one. So not only were we billed for a service we weren’t using, but there was also no resolution offered. This process feels intentionally difficult and not customer-friendly. If a number is ported out, the account should be automatically canceled, or at the very least, billing should stop. Overall, very disappointing experience. I would not recommend this service.

Pros

Service was basic and poor. So, we decided to transfer it to QUO, who has a better app, settings, options and also use of AI (instead of voice mail) for handling calls outside business hours.

Grasshopper has helped streamline communication and reduce missed calls for our contracting team. It feels like having a small business phone system without the big-company overhead. Reliable, professional, and ideal for trades or service-based businesses that need flexibility and solid customer contact tools.

Pros

Grasshopper has been a great fit for our construction and home improvement business. It gives EmberBuild a professional image with a dedicated business number and call routing that makes sure client calls never get missed, even when we’re on job sites. The voicemail-to-email feature is especially helpful for tracking project inquiries and scheduling follow-ups quickly.

Cons

The only drawback is a small learning curve when setting up custom greetings and voicemail flows. Once configured, it’s smooth, but a more visual setup tool would make it even easier.

Pros

I’ve been using Grasshopper for 2 years now and it’s been amazing! The app is super easy to navigate and unlike others it actually works!!

Cons

It is a bit more expensive than others but being able to pay annually helps. Otherwise, I haven’t had any issues with it.

For the money this is a great product. I just wish a few things can get changed. But the fact I can send text messages from my work line is a huge plus.

Pros

I love that I can use this on my cell phone. (Who wants to carry around two cell phones?) I can send text messages from my computer. Take screen grabs and move over to my client files for the COA.

Cons

The web interface is very poor. I wish it were a cleaner look and feel. When I get calls and answer them, it takes 20-30 seconds for my phone to hijack the call.

It cost us so much to comply with the new requirements that the FCC had and the unclear instructions that it basically had more costs to it than benefits in terms of the time that it cost our small business.

That I was able to text and that I was able to get extensions dialed for different employees along with visual voicemail

Cons

That I was not able to text due to Federal Communications Commission who had a ton of red tape for anti-spam requirements for 7 digit phone numbers, it took us months to modify our website and regain texting capabilities.

Overall, my experience using Grasshopper has been very positive. It has made managing business communication simpler and more efficient. Pros

I really like how easy Grasshopper makes it to manage business calls and messages from anywhere. The setup was simple, and I appreciate that I can use a dedicated business number without needing extra equipment. It keeps communication organized and professional, whether I’m in the office or on the go. The call quality has also been reliable so far.

Cons

The only downside I’ve noticed so far is mostly related to small interface preferences. For example, the app icon and overall design feel a bit dated and could be more modern. It doesn’t affect functionality, but visually it could look cleaner. Other than that, I haven’t had any real performance issues to complain about.

Pros

Cons

I created a new extension however they were receiving calls from other extensions which caused a disruption in their day to day.

Pros

Most of the spam I got from the website phone number just gives up. 95% is not even local. They just hang up as it's a robocall.

Cons

I wish the basic service had more than one extension. Then the juice would be worth the squeeze. Yu know?

Would not recommend this company to anyone looking for a phone service. To not offer a refund for a service that a customer original paid for that they aren't receiving is beyond a terrible company. Scam artists.

Pros

NO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They had okay customer service until we went to cancel because we lost the ability to send text messages.

Cons

They had a company wide (had to register for SMS). While this process happened, you were unable to send text messages. After hours with customer support it never got resolved. They said it was out of their control and we had to be patient for it to be approved. After waiting about a month, I transferred my number to another company. When I went to cancel, they told me a refund is not possible. So we had to pay for the duration of the year even though we weren't getting a service (texting) that was included in our package.

After a half dozen calls and more than 6 hours on the phone, total, Grasshopper never got it done. I had to cancel after trying more than a week.

The interface is very easy to use and really like how not only text messages can be sent but also audio calls and voicemails can be received all in one place. It is helped that multiple users and lines can also be set up as well.

Cons

There were several technical glitches experienced on occasion where the software would not connect. This was most often due to two users not being able to utilize it at the same time.

I used this app so that I could continue using my personal phone, and this would provide me an additional line. The calls are supposed to come up as grasshopper calls. They didn't always. Sometimes the calls wouldn't ring on my phone and show up on the app later as a missed call. I lost potential clients due to this. Frustrating experience as I'd connected with support and they told me it was a setting issue and they'd corrected it. It continued to happen after the fact. No refund. When I cancelled 10 days into the monthly cycle they wouldn't offer me a pro-rated refund on the days not used, but stated they would have to cancel on that very day. I had to fight to get the refund for the remaining 20 days I would not have the service.

Pros

I like the that you can track calls, voicemails, etc on the app.

Cons

The calls are muffled. Calls aren't always clear doesn't matter if I'm on wifi or data.

### "Grasshopper is an Amazing Tool for Entrepreneurs"

We've been using Grasshopper since 2013 and it's been a wonderful tool. You know your software is great when you don't actually spend any time thinking about it and it just works. Support is amazing, but I hardly ever have to use it because we never have any problems. We just opened up our third Grasshopper account for our consulting firm, and other manufacturing company. Our favorite things about Grasshopper is that there are only the flat costs, instead of per user costs. Our business works with many independent professionals, ( ie our dedicated IT person is also a small business owner) and we needed to be able to give people their own extensions so our customers could reach out to them directly, but still under the umbrella and safety of our business. Grasshopper makes it really easy to do that, keeping us professional and our customers satisfied. I would hate to have to pay for 13 extensions, when I really only need 7 users, but with other systems, for every email you add on, you have to pay for that user. You also only pay for what you use or your plan, so you don't have to break the bank. We don't take an excess amount of calls to our office, mostly email, so you only have to spend a little, you really get a lot. You can pay by the minute (which we choose to do based on our fluctuating call patterns) or you can buy a bulk minute plan, which is incredibly competitive in price. The call quality is absolutely amazing, because Grasshopper runs over traditional phone lines and not VOIP. This allows you as a business owner to run a cloud based system, but get all the benefits of landline quality. If you're a business of 1 and want to sound more professional, Grasshopper is the best way to do it. You can set up multiple extensions (press 1 for sales, 2 for support) even if they all forward to the same place. It's also perfect if you're like our business, where you require not a lot of talk time, but several departments and extensions to be able to suit your customer needs because of contractors on your team. I definitely recommend this to anyone who has large contractor teams that work on several projects together regularly and need to delegate some responsibility. Whether you're a solopreneur, a small business, or even a large business, Grasshopper allows you to take your business anywhere, any time, without problems. It's easy, affordable, and get's the job done well.

Pros

Grasshopper gets it done right. It's incredibly affordable for letting your business have a professional line without breaking the bank and there's never a call quality issue. You can also choose a vanity number which is a huge bonus (100% of my recommendations to others for Grasshopper get a vanity number.) Biggest perks include: \*No per user cost - only pay for what you use, or buy a larger plan if you talk a lot \*Create a ton of extensions \*Mobile App is really helpful - you can dial out using your vanity number \*Voicemails delivered to your inbox or listed to them over the mobile app \*Call screening (personal favorite, so I can truly decide if I want to take that call or not!) \*Time Zone setup for users that are maybe on a different coast then you (we use this currently)

Cons

Lack of integration with CRM. Other CRM tools often an auto dialer that allows you to associate calls with leads and so forth, and I think this would add a lot of value if it were added. Also, no local vanity numbers. Wish regulatory fees were a bit lower but can't do too much about that. Lastly, not really a con, but when you sign up, you need to call and ask them to upgrade you to the advanced user interface. There is no extra cost, but this is the you really need to make your life easier.

We used this to call our customers and text our customers. If they could get the glitches and kinks worked out, it would be a much better program. It was good to used for days when you have multiple calls per hour as it is hands free and you can just call from your computer. However, it is not one hundred percent reliable. The experience I had makes me not want to use it again, unless they were to fix everything so it functions like it should.

Pros

What I liked most about this software is that it provides a phone number and service that you can access using your laptop and headphones. It is easy to make calls from your computer, and you can send texts and check voice messages as well, and typed transcripts of those voice messages. It provides a professional looking phone system for your business and has a voicemail that is also seems professional and can be set up to transfer to employee's Grasshopper phone numbers or to roll over to their cell phones.

Cons

The problem with this software is that it is full of glitches. There were several times when Grasshopper sent the voice messages to the wrong phone numbers, the extensions got changed or were wrong, or the app just stopped working all together. It seemed like every week or two, we had to waste time calling in to customer service to get them to fix the problems. Also, you could not send mass texts or multiple texts to more than one person without them seeing each other's phone numbers and all responses going to all people in the group text. So if we had a group session where we wanted to confirm, invite, or remind twenty people, we had to send each text individually through Grasshopper. This involved sending a text, copying it, going back a screen, typing in the next number, pasting the text, and then sending it to the next person. It was a time waster.

### "Terrible Experience"

Terrible experience, after selecting my number and using it for company marketing, Grasshopper was not able to accept my payment in no way, I called numerous times the customer services, tech support and billing that happens to be the same person and could not help me. Their answer was thta for internal reason they could not sell me the number period. This was after I ordered 4000+ flyers with the 1800 number from them. They intentionally gave my company losses, without taking any responsability.

Pros

At the beginning the set up seems very easy and customer friendly

Cons

They sell numbers that they dont own and after the free trial customers are not able to buy the number they have been using for 7 days

### "The Best Virtual Phone System There Is!"

My team and myself are very pleased from day one with this system! Its amazing features make our job so much easier; receiving telephone calls from our international clients right from our computer at no cost to them but yet very affordable for us! Calls are also forward to my cellphone when I'm not in office and this is very important for me. This system has for sure help our business grow. We are very satisfied with Grasshopper and look forward keep on taking advantage of this reliable and affordable Virtual Phone System!

Pros

That our clients from the USA and Canada are able to get in touch with us free of cost to them. This is great because majority of our clientele is from the US and Grasshopper is very affordable for us. All calls are forwarded to our land line in Belize or to my cellphone when I'm not in office; love this feature! With the Grasshopper App for windows, calls can be answered from your computer; all you need is a headset. This system just amazes me with it's features that keep making my job so much easier! Our clients also fax us using this same toll free number and it is delivered right to my inbox; this is amazing. This system has really helped increasing our sales.

Cons

My team and myself are very pleased with Grasshopper system, reason why we are still using it for many years. No complaints at all.

### "Full-featured phone system at a reasonable price"

My customers are still telling me how impressed they are with the new system. We've had it for just over a year now, and some of the aches and pains of the old system have faded in my mind. Even so, I can tell you it's leaps and bounds above the last system we had. It takes around 10% of the time I used to spend setting up old extensions, and causes almost none of the aggravation and worry I had with the old system.

Pros

It was very easy to set up, even though my company's phone system is pretty complicated. They have great tools that are easy to implement. For example, I change the forwarding for at least one of my extensions several times a day. This process is easy and everything works flawlessly, as does the simultaneous ringing of my cell phone when someone calls my extension. I had some trouble with one number I ported from another provider, and the help desk fixed it within a couple of hours. A few months later, I had problems porting a fax number from an online fax provider, and they fixed it immediately. (The fax feature provided by Grasshopper is excellent, too!) Their prices are very reasonable, and they have taken a great deal of worry off my plate. I am very glad I found this software!

Cons

I can't say I have had any problems with the software that wasn't taken care of immediately by the excellent tech support. I had a little trouble setting up the extensions and recordings, but I had never had anything but an old-fashioned phone system before. Considering my lack of experience, the virtual system was not hard to figure out, and it was well worth it!

A huge disappointment all around. The only good parts are the text auto-reply, and that you can have multiple people access the texts on lines they are allowed access to. The worst part for us is that when we ported some numbers to another provider we lost access to all of our records (text messages, call logs and voice mails) associated with those numbers.

Pros

Simplicity. No needing for additional equipment.

Cons

Poor call quality. Wi-fi calling is awful. They claim that they do not alter the caller id, yet the same calls coming in on the mobile device show the caller's name (when published), but when routed through grasshopper you only see the name with very few exceptions.

Reason for choosing Grasshopper

Cost seems reasonable, albeit we have been overcharged on some bills and had to call in to get it resolved.

If you just need basic phone features, it's fine. If you business grows, you will soon find it too limiting. What disappoints me the most is, Grasshopper doesn't have a way to export or backup your text messages. The rep also claims they delete all of my text messages history immediately after I ported out my numbers. I only ported 2 of my 3 numbers out 5 days ago and i can no longer find the text message history. From the software design stand point, there is certainly no need to delete your customers text message history immediately after they ported their numbers. Also text messages take up negligible amount of storage space. It just doesn't make sense.

Pros

The price is affordable and it's easy to discover this company because their ads are everywhere on google. Among the competitor ads, Grasshopper offers good value and covers all the basic features. But there are other better value system out there, but it will take a while for you to find them because they don't spend nearly as much advertising dollars.

Cons

Grasshopper is definitely a company that puts quite a bit of money on marketing. You find their google ads when you search for VOIP phone solution. I wish they had put the money into feature development instead. I recently switched to TalkRoute because Grasshopper is missing: - Call recording - Multi-level greeting menu

Reason for choosing Grasshopper

Lower cost. But I strongly recommend TalkRoute instead of Grasshopper. TalkRoute is slightly more expensive but offers a lot more features and just as easy to use.

### "Best Virtual Phone! "

Pros

I have tried other virtual phone systems, and I am happy I made the switch to Grasshopper. First off, their app, flawless! Never once has the app crashed on me. I have 3 toll-free phone numbers, using the cell app, I can simply change what number I want to call from without revealing my personal number. I was able to upload my own custom recorded auto attendant message and upload VM greetings for each extension. Bringing over my toll free numbers was a breeze, they easily stepped me thru the process. I can transfer calls and put calls on hold while on the phone, a game changer! My favorite feature, is Call Blasting. Where when a caller chooses a specific number, grasshopper will ring multiple phones at once until the call is answered! I am very happy with Grasshopper and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting a top notch professional phone system!

Cons

On the grasshopper call log, sometimes it errors and logs the wrong phone number that the call came in on. The incoming Caller ID is correct, however the GH Log will show they called Line 2, when I know it was line 1.. Not a big deal, I'm sure they will fix that soon ;-)

### "SO much better than Google Voice. "

Pros

Grasshopper has been exactly what I needed. I wanted a company phone number, but I didn't want to carry around a 2nd phone or install a landline like it's 1997. I have virtual administrators who handle my customer service, and I will often need to switch the prioritization of who should receive calls first in the queue. Grasshopper solves all that with some pretty great software. The queue function, voicemail, and SMS alone are great. There are other features too that I haven't even gotten around to setting up yet.

Cons

Occasionally it has its bugs. The app isn't perfect, it's like maybe a 7/10 in terms of speed and reliability. I often get double notifications for one thing. Sometimes calls don't come through but it can't be replicated, and we recently had some login issues. Overall it's still quite good and I don't intend on switching, but it still has some things to work out before I would preach it to my friends.

It allows us to have a toll-free number and individual extensions for our team members who are located throughout the country. We have access to an easy-to-use app so that we never miss calls and never have to wait to be in front of the computer to return calls from the company phone #.

Cons

None that I can think of it. This system is rather efficient and doing everything we need as a small business.
