### "A reliable study companion during my exam preparation"

June 28, 2026

5.0

Foxit PDF Reader became a very important tool during my physiotherapy exam preparation in Canada. Since all my textbooks were in India, I had to rely on soft copies, which I was initially not comfortable with because I always preferred physical books. After using Foxit, my experience changed completely as I could highlight, underline, and add notes just like in a real book. I used it daily for studying, revision, and mock exams, and it became a key part of my preparation. The zoom feature also helped me read small or photocopied text easily on my tablet, making studying more comfortable and effective.

Pros

It makes digital studying feel similar to reading a physical book with easy highlighting and annotation tools. It is simple, fast, and very useful for exam preparation. The free version is enough for most student needs and the zoom feature is very helpful for reading small text.

Cons

Some advanced features are only available in the paid version, and the interface feels basic compared to newer apps. There are occasional upgrade prompts, and syncing features are limited in the free version

### "Absolutely fantastic PDF reader and manager!"

February 8, 2023

5.0

I've been using Foxit PDF Reader for a while now and it has become my favorite tool for day-to-day PDF-related tasks. I'm an extensive reader and note-taker, and it has all the necessary features included that make everything more manageable.

Pros

I use Foxit as my go-to PDF reader for numerous reasons - 1. Cross Platform - It works like a charm on my machine. I use Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, and it's a little old operating system, but it works without any issues. I've tried a lot of PDF readers, but none of them were as good as Foxit.2. Color Schemes - It comes with various inbuilt color schemes, and all of them fit perfectly with the PDFs which really improves the whole reading experience.3. Page Style - Takes one click to change page style from "single page" to "continuous" to "facing" and more.4. Annotation tools - Foxit is packed with a good number of annotation tools that can be used to take diverse varieties of notes. It comes in handy when I'm deep diving into topics that require extensive note-taking.5. Last, but not least, it's remarkably fast. It takes no time to load and is ready to work. So far, I haven't encountered any lags in the software.

Cons

A couple of things -1. Once you annotate a specific part in the PDF, you cannot copy-paste it directly. Clicking on it opens a pop-up for taking notes, which means you can't select the text without removing the annotation.2. Foxit has a "Start" panel that displays the recent documents, and if you accidentally close it, there's no way to open it again unless you restart the application.

### "Foxit PDF Reader the best PDF editor and E-Signature Software."

January 14, 2023

5.0

Ok, my company adopted the e-memo practice using Foxit pdf reader which has made approval to time. The e-signature also has helped my company to quickly and securely close some deals lately. Above all we have been able to convert our multiple company's document into a single company pdf file. It's awesome all along with this wonder application.

Pros

I like the fact that with foxit PDF reader I can edit text, merge multiple files, write comments and insert digital signature. My company has adopted e-memo system using this software and approval time has drastically reduce ever since. This is a fantastic software.

Cons

I just noticed that the free version crashes easily but the inexpensive paid version has been stable.

### "Who needs Adobe?"

May 28, 2022

5.0

I have to work on PDF files as a proofreader. Foxit Reader lets me mark up pages and also create a new PDF summarizing all the comments. I haven't even tried all the free features, but it's great for anyone who needs something other than Adobe to view and comment on PDFs.

Pros

Foxit lets you view PDFs without having to sign in (needing to sign in is a feature that I find highly irritating in Adobe Reader DC). It's easy to navigate, responds quickly, lets you add bookmarks, and provides full commenting/annotation tools, including letting you summarize the comments in a new PDF.

Cons

When the comments panel (on the left) is open and I'm editing a comment, some of the later comments disappear off the bottom of the screen and I can't reach them to hit the "OK" (save) button. I also wish I could use some keyboard shortcuts to select or jump within comment text (like Ctrl+arrow).

Switched from

[Adobe Acrobat Reader](https://www.capterra.com/p/170833/Acrobat-Reader-DC/)

Adobe Reader only works when you sign in to your Adobe account, and I find that irritating. Foxit Reader is fast and offers all the features I need for PDFs for free and without sign-ins.

### "Good if you don't use PDFs extensively"

We tried a trial of this product as an alternative to Adobe. Ultimately we decided that while it worked alright but long term it doesn't have all the features that Adobe offers in a oaid version.

Pros

We liked that itt was a simple easy PDF reader solution. We seriously considered it as an alternative to Adobe.

Cons

In the end, for the price of the paid version we just didnt feel it made sense for us to switch

### "easy to use and works very well with Microsoft Office programs"

July 6, 2021

5.0

Foxit Reader has been a very useful product to have in our catalogue. Apart from making remote collaboration with field agents much easier, it makes reports compilation a much easier task. We simply use PDF to merge all the separate reports submitted from our multiple field teams into one final complete document.

Pros

Foxit's wide variety of annotation tools for taking notes, leaving comments, and providing feedback directly on documents has been extremely useful for easing our team's workflows. Previously, we had to perform such tasks within Word and only convert to PDF after completing the review process; but that would often require additional time spent on reformatting since the back and format usually altered several elements of the document. Being able to work in PDF directly saves us a lot of time and reduces the rates of errors in our documentation.

Cons

Annotations and edits with multimedia file attachments are not very convenient to handle. I assume it would handle better if provided in a separate and heavier version of the product.

Alternatives considered

### "works well with others"

May 20, 2021

5.0

Speed of transition and ability to communicate with others via the universality and security of pdf files has been a great timesaver for us. Foxit is much more efficient and easier to use than similar Adobe products and others. Foxit has helped us to evolve in the workplace and be more efficient and create new ways to advance how we do business.

Pros

The ability to create stamps and stamp documents (for us it is exhibits) is very useful and it is simple to use. The ability to copy text or pictures from word or email or almost anywhere and be able to edit that into a pdf is a tremendous timesaver. Converting docs and other formats to pdf is seamless and easy. Foxit Reader has help us streamline many daily functions.

Cons

There are only two issues with Foxit. First, we used to be able to right click and applicable file (docs, jpegs, email, etc.) and convert to pdf. That feature stopped working after an update and we have been unable to get that back. We can still convert once the file is open, but it is a little more time consuming. The other issue is that sometimes Foxit can use up tremendous system resources causing freezing and sometimes rebooting becomes necessary. This seems to have been improving, but it can cost time and cause losses of information not saved. Of course, we back everything up regularly, but to lose what was created within the last 15-30 minutes can sometimes take hours to recreate.

### "No need to worry about compatibility and document formatting issues"

July 7, 2021

5.0

Foxit has been very useful for me, particularly for remote work on my mobile device. It loads extremely fast and does not leave behind a huge mess of remnant installation files after upgrades and reinstallations.

Pros

Foxit allows me to easily manage project documentation very securely with very little chance of unauthorized edits and changes. With Foxit's very short simple steps that allow me to easily convert my word and excel documents into pdf, I no longer worry about team members not tracking changes they make and causing me a lot of time working my way back. Comments and notes can now be easily added unto the pdf documents, which I can decide to accept or reject; saving me a lot of time.

Cons

Transitioning between pages can feel a bit stiff sometimes whether using the navigation buttons or the scroll bar, making reading not as smooth as it could be.

### "Foxit PDF Reader goes above and beyond the call of duty (and will even "read" your PDF to you)"

August 18, 2018

4.0

Foxit Reader goes above and beyond the call of duty, giving me a set of tools for working with PDF documents not found outside of web-based premium add-ons or in more expensive software. (Most PDF readers don't allow you to create files, only read them, unless you use a premium, cloud-based version.) It renders pages quickly, even large documents. From combining documents to adding attachments to incorporating thoughtful security measurements, Foxit Reader does a good job. Since I've been using it, it has only crashed once (I'm not sure why). There are a few gotchas but I'm hoping the creators will pay attention to those and keep improving Foxit Reader. I recommend it to friends and clients alike.

Pros

This review is about the standalone version of Foxit Reader for Windows PC. My favorite feature is ability to create a PDF from most types of files (docs, spreadsheets, text, graphics), and from scanner or from text copied to the clipboard. And Foxit Reader includes my all-time favorite: a tabbed interface so you can open more than one PDF at a time. Really useful is being able to add attachments to a PDF file, and a way to manage any attachments whether they arrived with the document sent to you or you are creating a new document and want to attach files. To top it off, if you add folder, it includes all the documents in the folder, saving you some precious time. The commenting system takes commenting a bit further. Using the "typewriter" feature, you can add a single or multiple lines of text anywhere in the document (wherever there is some white space.) Once you turn the typewriter feature on, you have to remember to toggle it back off or you'll inadvertently have "lines" of text in weird places every time you click the mouse. Security is baked in, including a feature that allows you to turn off all features in the software that require an internet connection. Being a consultant often working with time-sensitive deliverables, I appreciate the variety of protection schemes especially digitally signing with DocuSign and time stamps.

Cons

The User Manual is online so when working offline the manual is not available. Ditto with the help system -- no help if you're not connected to the internet. Since it is in PDF format (albeit online), why not include it with the software for offline use? I like this feature but it could stand some finessing: Foxit Reader incorporates a "read PDF" feature where the PDF you're viewing can be read to you. Unfortunately, the voice is rather robotic and the inflections don't quite cut it, but it's still a neat feature to have in a pdf reader. Too bad it's a Windows-only program. I'm also a Linux user so I'm always looking out for programs that are cross-platform or can run on multiple operating systems.

### "Free PDF software that still holds up to this day."

January 12, 2023

5.0

Overall my experience with foxit PDF Reader is fantastic, and I really enjoy the fact this software has been around for almost 2 decades. It benfits itself from being free to use, while utilising all the essential features that most users require in the popular paid versions of the software. Its lightweight design makes it wqually useful to use on slower PC's and also is now available to use on MAC and Linux, giving everyone the ability to use it on multiple platforms.

Pros

The main pro is that foxit is free to use. I've used this software since back in 2008 when I was looking for an alternative to the well known PDF reading software. This software is easy to use and contains most of the same features as the paid versions do without the horrendous memory and storage usage.

Cons

I feel the only con about this software is that they do not advertise it as well as they should. It could be useful for some features of foxit to be hgihlighted when the software is first used and maybe a video tutorial covering some of the main features that can be used.

### "Foxit Reader is not just a PDF reader"

July 25, 2021

4.0

Being in civil filed I have to make reports of project and submit to Manager in pdf form. As a result, I must double-check all of those files before giving them to my Manager. Foxit allows me to effortlessly work with numerous files at once. As a result, Foxit has become an integral part of my workflow, allowing me to be more productive, precise and I do more work in less time

Pros

It's completely free to use. Has signature and typing facilities that are simple to use. Multiple signature images can be stored using the signature image upload feature. The ability to change the colour and size of the type tool is fantastic. It's also compatible with fillable forms. I really appreciate how you may have several tabs open at once and switch between them. I use this software on a daily basis and prefer it ove Adobe as it take less space

Cons

To be Honest there is nothing to dislike as far as the foxit is concerned. Just one thing keep in mind during installation, during installation small popup window shown on your screen and will install the additional software so uncheck the box to avoid this unusual installation.

### "Foxit Reader, a fast and efficient PDF reader."

July 3, 2021

4.0

In general, this software is one of the best with respect to software of the same characteristics. Its speed and light weight make it a recommended option. This software fulfills the functions it promises, in every aspect, both in editing and reading PDF files. It is also easy to use, even for inexperienced users, thanks to its excellent interface that is easy on the eyes. Except for some negative points, such as reading PDX files or the search tool, this software is an important alternative in terms of PDF readers.

Pros

What I liked most about this software was how fast it is and how small the files are. Some positive points of the software in my opinion, are the fluidity to view the files, quick installation, the ease to use each of its tools and how little space it takes up in memory. This software gives you options like editing, underlining, drawing and converting to text in a PDF file. Finally, the software allows you to use tabs to open several documents simultaneously.

Cons

In my opinion as a user, the negative part of this software is that it cannot read PDX files, also the search tool and the text selection can be improved in several aspects. The price of the full version is affordable for a company, but for an individual it can be expensive.

Reason for choosing Foxit PDF Reader

I chose this software as my default PDF reader over other options because of how little space it takes up and how fast it works.

### "Great Product, Poor Sales/Customer Service"

February 16, 2023

5.0

The company makes it incredibly difficult to reach someone, and although the company boasts being a cheaper option than Adobe, they certainly don't care about helping on the expensive standalone license. They push hard for the yearly licensing. I find that the company is what makes the experience bad, not the software itself. They are not interested in communicating with you at all. As of this writing, their website is created so that the only way you can communicate is via phone or support ticket. No email address. And when they do communicate with you they will blatantly stay they are not interested in providing a discount unless you purchase a volume license.

Pros

I really enjoyed the software overall. The layout, the tab structure of having multiple PDFs open, and all the editing options out in the open. I find it significantly easier to use than Adobe Acrobat.

Cons

There is nothing I didn't like about the software. It takes a Microsoft Office approach to the layout, which most people are familiar with. Very easy to use. Sadly, the company makes it incredibly difficult to reach someone, and although the company boasts being a cheaper option than Adobe, they certainly don't care about helping on the expensive standalone license. They push hard for the yearly licensing.

Reason for choosing Foxit PDF Reader

No. Simply the fact that FoxIt didn't care to even provide a $5 discount on the standalone license, it showed me they did not care about small business or assisting with reducing the price by any means. A $5 discount was more than reasonable on an overpriced price point of $179 for a standalone license. Why pay $179 for a license for FoxIt when you can get Adobe Acrobat for a little more? It's like getting generic or name brand in the grocery. If the generic is 10 cents less, you're going with the name brand all day long.

### "Super good but still underrated"

April 7, 2023

Overall, I like Foxit more than Adobe. It's simple and inexpensive.

Pros

Foxit reader is my go to PDF reader and editor in my personal PC. In my work PC I use Adobe reader. Foxit provides all features but at a much lower cost. I love Foxit's PDF editor. It's like editing a MS Word document. Foxit helped me editing and writing a lot of PDFs during my green cards application. I never had any issues with it.

Cons

I do not like that post consumer services of Foxit reader. They send out to many emails about promotions. In the application itself I would love to see a few more collection of premium fonts while in the editor mode.

I've never experienced constant advertising from Foxit. Even better, it operates flawlessly with local files, unlike other programs, without giving errors or persistently asking you to upload them.

Pros

Rich in tools, with an easy-to-use interface, this app is excellent. Even creating and editing PDFs is so easy that it's almost perfect. The Android PDF reader offers nearly identical functionality to the desktop version, including the ability to view, annotate, edit, and create new files.

Cons

Although it's a good PDF viewer, all of its useful features are locked behind a paid subscription. The more recent versions are very slow despite having a lot of features.
