Pros As a heavy user of SproutVideo, I must say that my experience has been overwhelmingly positive. The platform offers some amazing features and get consistent compliments on my virtual exhibit hall. What truly sets this SproutVideo apart is its exceptional customer service. Whenever I encounter any issues or have questions, the support team is always quick to respond and incredibly helpful. It is a strong platform for hosting, managing, and automating video content, especially where API control is important. For our workflow, where large numbers of custom videos are generated automatically and then need to be hosted and embedded reliably, Sprout Video has worked very well. The service is easy enough to use once the correct setup is in place, performance has been good, and the platform provides the flexibility we need without forcing us into a much more expensive tier. The combination of reliable hosting, API capability, useful connector options, good customer support, and sensible pricing makes it a service we are very happy with. Pros Sprout Video has been a very good fit for our API-driven video automation workflow. We use it to host hundreds of custom videos generated automatically through our content pipeline, and the ability to control and manage those videos through the API has been particularly valuable. The platform offers a wide range of connection options and flexible ways to embed and manage video content across different scenarios. For our use case, this flexibility was one of the strongest parts of the service. Customer support was also excellent. The support team understood what we needed, even when we had not fully defined the technical requirement ourselves, and they were able to guide us towards the correct setup. Combined with the entry-level pricing tier, which fits our current usage comfortably, Sprout Video feels like very good value for money. Cons The main challenge was identifying the right connector and setup approach for our specific use case. Because Sprout Video offers so many options, it took more live testing than expected to confirm the correct route. Even after testing, we still needed to circle back, double-check parts of the setup, and make some adjustments to how the video embed code was configured. This was not a major issue, but it did create some extra friction during implementation. Pros We recently transferred our video database to Sprout Video and are super happy with the results so far. We love how easy it is to customize and integrate the videos into our Patroen page. Any issues and work arounds have been quickly resolved with the customer care team at our service. Cons Often we are unable to upload directly from mobile (probably due to a cloud error on our end), so we need to first transfer it to a computer and then from there upload via a web browser. It would be great to have a built in editor on SproutVideo so we could trim the videos that are already uploaded. We have also learned that we are not able to upload any videos shot vertically as it results in a crop malfunction on the streamer's end. However I always end up going over my bandwidth limit, which adds to the cost. On top of that some competitors offer native playback in the Patreon app, similar security features, as well as more bandwith and storage, for a lot less money once it goes over 100gb. Pros What I like most is the peace of mind it gives me when sharing videos on platforms like Patreon. Compared to using something like Google Drive, SproutVideo offers a much more secure solution that helps protect my content from being easily leaked. The platform is also very user-friendly and straightforward to set up, making the video upload and management process smooth and efficient. Cons The biggest downside for me is the lack of compatibility with the Patreon app. Videos hosted on SproutVideo can't be watched directly in the Patreon iOS app so my subscribers are forced to log into their Patreon account on Safari in order to watch my content. It has all the bells and whistles I need for delivering educational content. It has allowed me to keep my own customer's fees down while getting first rate service and hosting for my video content. I did try other prominent platforms and found Sprout to be the most efficient and affordable option hands down. The biggest plus is the customer service and tech support. When something went wrong with one of my courses, the Sprout customer service team had the problem diagnosed, fixed and up and running within the hour. You can't find that kind of service everywhere. I highly recommend this hosting service and have done so to others. Pros I love that I was able to access and use the Sprout Video platform from the beginning. The ease of use was definitely a plus. I am fairly tech savy but the Sprout Video platform was exceptionally user friendly and easy for me adapt to my needs as an educational provider. The greatest plus for me was being able to safeguard my original content with password protection and monitoring of those accessing my content. Cons At different levels of use, streaming capacity and storage varied and I had to make some tough decisions. I did switch to a greater capacity license but next next bump up would be a significant expense for me. I would have liked a more incremental bump in capacity, storage and price. The first two levels were extremely price friendly for me as a small educational platform. Sproutvideo has been a great, easy solution for those videos and then as videos have become a key communicating tool for employee tutorials and marketing I kept using Sproutvideo because it works so well. I've had no problems with the service going down or being unreliable in any way. I've been really happy with this software! Pros I find it intuitive to navigate, which is important because as a small biz owner I navigate a lot of software in a day! What I really like is that it is super easy to grab the URL or embed code, which I use in my websites. I also use the playlist feature for employee tutorials, which is super helpful. I get a ton of space and lots of easy controls over who can view, such as private (only through embed), password protected, or public.
