Pros: First, I've been using QuickBooks for over 11 years. I have used both the desktop software and online. Right now, all of our companies use Quickbooks online. I'm a big fan. If you have ever taken an entry level accounting class, you have all the knowledge you need to run QuickBooks. The ease of use is the best I have found and I've used a few other accounting systems that I won't name :) But QuickBooks far exceeds those others. You can easily customize your chart of accounts, create invoices and sales receipts, run payroll, manage users, complete bank reconciliations and manage the chart of accounts. It doesn't take a professional to learn the software which is what I love.

I have to talk about their support. They are amazing! We had to switch over another one of our companies to QuickBooks and the process from the old software was a nightmare. I spoke to QuickBooks support and they stayed on the phone for over 4 hours with me getting it to transfer. The support was unprecedented and in the end, they really pulled through to get the old accounting software to transfer into Quickbooks. Never seen anything like it before. I was thoroughly impressed.

Cons: The software goes down quite often. Sometimes we get errors that we can't log into our account or even that our account is active, which I know isn't true. We wait a few minutes, refresh, and alas we are back in business. Even with this headache every once in a while, I would still choose this software.

Pros: No pun intended, but for the features that actually work well, they are very intuitive. They accommodate such a huge range of detail and diversity in what each business would require. Beautiful interface.

Cons: No one should use this product if you have to import a lot of transactions! 1. There is no way to batch delete transactions that you may import by mistake or that you decide later on you don't want (which is likely to happen because once you get over the learning curve and figure out how you want to use the software, you may have entered data that you no longer want). I found this out the hard way. After two years of data was entered, I was encountering issues related to how I originally added the transactions to my register and that I needed help fixing. But then multiple representatives kept only solving small portions of the problem. After the fourth or fifth rep saw my issue, she said that I had to start all over again entering two years of data into QBs. She had me disconnect my bank accounts, then "delete" them from the Chart of Accounts. This makes the account "inactive" BUT she failed to tell me that those transactions would never actually go away. They stay there in the background and mess up your reports. So because she had me then reconnect all my accounts and re-import two years of data for me to start over again, it essentially duplicated every transaction (thousands of them). Now my only option is to either manually delete every duplicate, which is not possible OR cancel my acct, create a new one and start over again. All the reps and supervisors I have spoken to have blocked me from anyone higher in the company. They refuse to refund me for any more than 1 mo.

Overall: My bad experience erased all the good that could've come from Quickbooks. I just wasted two years of bookkeeping, two weeks of non-stop work in QBs preparing my 2017 Tax return that is on extension and I'm now going to get penalty fees from the IRS. They can't pay me for those fees and they can't give me back my time, but the least they can do is refund me for the two years of service fees that their representatives have rendered useless to me. I can't get any higher than a Supervisor Kayson in the Accounting Dept. I've begged and pleaded and told her that I know Quickbooks doesn't want this for their customers and that they should be informed of this disaster to make sure it doesn't happen to anyone else and she refused, after begging for almost an hour, she said there was no one higher she could pass me onto. It just can't be possible, but that's how I was treated when the worst possible thing could happen to me and my business. It's not worth the risk. Please do your research and make sure this doesn't happen to you!

Pros: The product is well designed for working professionals to complete the common, everyday tasks easily. Moreover the layout of the screens of the software are, for the most part, logical.

Cons: First, customer service is horrific and the software includes some awful design flaws : Specifically, in the Premier version of the software one is supposed to be able to automatically generate bills for all customers/Jobs with time entered against them. However, this function fails miserably--specifically, when the function is run, the last line of every customer invoice is incorrect--it actually pulls information from another customer/job and inserts the text there, but mixes that description with the correct time entry for the invoiced customer. This resulted in approximately, 500 invoices that contained erroneous information. When Intuit was contacted regarding this issue, "customer service" took over a month to respond and then said that they were aware of the problem and they were working on a fix--that was over 2 years ago and the problem as not yet been resolved.

Second, updates to desktop software are essentially forced every 2 years: Specifically, Intuit appears to systematically cut off add-in features of older (2+ years behind current release) software. More specifically, we were running the 2015 version of their software and in early 2017 we were advised that we would no longer be able to accept credit card payments unless we upgraded to the 2017 version of the software. This is all despite the fact that technically the software is still supported by Intuit. However, software that cannot accept credit card payments as an integrated feature is useless.

Comments: QuickBooks is your best friend if you are an office worker or new to accounting as it is extremely simple to use. If you are a developer working to interface with it from outside systems you will learn to both love and HATE it. All in all I certainly recommend it to all my clients as the benefits most surely outweigh the problems.

Pros: - Easy to use, intuitive interface. Even non accountants will be able to dive in and use the software. - Powerful features and reporting allows you to really see where your P&Ls are sitting. - Tons of training and support available from a wide variety of sources. - Import and Export ability allows you to interface with other software or pull data into other programs for custom reporting. - Ability to interface with outside programs to sync data automatically. - Allows for tracking of inventory and placing/receiving purchase orders from vendors. - Gives a decent audit trail on item/customer activity so you can see what happened with your financials.

Cons: - QuickBooks is truly incredible, but their database architecture and some of their restrictions are incredibly dated. For example, they limit customer names, product names and several other fields to 31 characters. In today's more complex market it is extremely easy to have product names that are longer than 31 characters and QuickBooks will not let you enter them. They will tell you to either cut the product off at 31 (which can create duplicate names which is not allowed) or they will tell you to rename the product. Neither is good option for most companies. This becomes very apparent when you have customers with the same name, for example John Smith. QuickBooks will only let you create one of them and prevent the other from getting added. Their solution again is to rename the customer by giving it extra characters like a space at the end, or adding a 1 or a 2. But when you are limited to 31 total characters and your office staff then has to make sure that they select the right customer when working with a record, well you can see where these solutions are not really workable either. The pros of the software certainly outweigh this issue and it is possible to come up with internal naming conventions to fix these issues, still with a company the size of Intuit and software as popular as QuickBooks these issues should have been addressed years ago.

Pros: The best thing about QuickBooks is the speed and ease with which you can reconcile your bank statements. Assuming you keep up to date on entering your checks (and I know that's a big assumption) you can zip thru a bank statement in a matter of minutes. That part of QuickBooks I give 5 giant shiny stars! It's also very easy to categorize your income and expenses. I then use their income and expense reports to complete my corporate tax return each year. Finally, it's fast and easy to enter both income and expenses. The basics are great, but it's not all roses.

Cons: I've got several gripes in the "Cons" department. First, QuickBooks updates a lot! And sometimes you need to pay for those updates because some feature you had in your previous version doesn't work with the new version. I don't want to think about how much I have actually paid for this software over the years! And quite often, all that has changed is the "look and feel" of the software and more often than not the update isn't doing anything new that the previous version didn't do, at least for my needs. Does that sound familiar? I wonder if some of the QuickBooks people have come over from the Microsoft camp and brought their bag of tricks with them. Another issue is the online features... like automatically downloading from your bank accounts or investment accounts. I don't want to do that and would just as soon not have to pay for updates that add or improve those features. A plus is that you can email an invoice to a client and they have the option to pay you on line from that invoice. That's nice, but the charges for that are very high compared to other similar services. Besides using QuickBooks, I have many clients that also use it. Their biggest gripe is the high cost every year of updating the payroll portion of the program, which, in reality, is just updating a few numbers, if any, in the annual tax tables embedded in the program. You should be able to enter those manually and not have to pay a ransom for that "update".

Pros: I am the Co-Owner of a local marketing agency in Brooklyn. We use Quickbooks online for all of our accounting and bookkeeping needs. The software is updated often and gets better with each improvement. One of the most important reasons we stay with QB online is the customer service. On most occasions they will assist you with even the most complicated issues you may have - and they'll stay on the phone till it's fixed. Very happy with that especially when something isn't working and is hampering your workflow.

Cons: On some occasions you will run into service representatives that are less than likely to help you. I simply call back until someone good and decent answers the phone. Some features are complicated to use and require professional assistance. The UI can also be improved.

Overall: Apart from accurately doing my bookkeeping and various other tasks, this software allows me to create invoices, pay employees, and see my business finances - all in one easy snapshot. I find that the UI of QB is the best on the market, and it is also fully connectable to other services such as your bank account. Personally I have some automations setup with my bank account, Quickbooks, and Google Drive. I've made it such that my accountant can view all of my books and finances with ease. Quickbooks has been an important part of that. Love it!

Pros: -It allows me to manage my company remotely without any inconvenience, it is super effective, since I can organize everything with just a connection to the internet from any desktop or mobile device.

-One of its great virtues is to allow me the creation of forms, modification of invoices for, receipts, budgets and give them a personalized touch without any inconvenience.

-I love how the report panel is designed, it is very complete, it allows me to evaluate the growth or the losses of my sales units, purchases or to be able to create new projections from previous reports.

-Excellent module for cash flow, programming of units of payments which allows to optimize the time in which transactions are made or avoid maturities.

-The support staff is quite attentive additionally to be free only with the purchase of the product, which in turn has an excellent price for everything you can do, when with other services everything is separate or you must go to other applications.

Cons: In particular, the software meets all my expectations, it is very well prepared, I have no negative aspects to highlight, its price is excellent, it helps me grow and improve every day, it has been a great help.

Pros: The product that I have used of Quickbooks is Quickbooks Self Employed. I really like the different options it gives you to keep track of all your transactions throughout the year. You can link your bank account that you use for your business and choose whether the transactions are business or personal. You can either do this from the desktop version or from the app that you can install on either your Android or iPhone. One of the things I love most is the mileage tracker. It keeps me from having to keep track in a mileage log. It provides a map that shows where the start and stop of the trip was and you can choose Personal or Business and categorize them with what the trip was for also! The software is really easy to use and I would recommend it to anyone.

Cons: The one thing that I have disliked about the Quickbooks Self Employed is the fact that I have not been able to find an option to add a second business. I have various businesses and I would like to be able to separate my purchases by each business, but as I cannot find a way to do so, I am only able to use the app for one of my business and its expenses.

Overall: It saves me time and money during tax time. It helps me to be more organized and I don't have to sit and stress out as much when it comes to taxes. It has saved me a lot of money from forgotten transactions, mileage, among other things. I use it daily and use every feature constantly. It has a way to show you how much money you will wind up owing quarterly, how much you will get credited for mileage, how much expenses and income you have had, etc. It has been very beneficial to my business and I will continue using it for the foreseeable future!

Pros: I gave highest (4-stars) in ease of use.

Cons: The P/R module has been like the ugly, red-headed step child of QB. For YEARS, I used the help/feedback. Never so much as heard that anything was received. No changes have been made, lots of errors/bugs, VERY poor job costing ability, I'm now told you must be Admin & logged in as single user. My list of problems & suggestions is LONG, but none of their resources (time, money for development) have been put into fixing/upgrading this very old module. It's OK if you have a couple of office staff and do payroll for them, but if you are larger and really need to do Job Costing? Forget it. Staff WANTS to be helpful, but 1) they can't change what the program is sorely lacking; and 2) very often I've gotten "newbie" support personnel that hardly have a clue themselves as to what the program can/can't do or don't understand simple constraints in business. Yes, I can give MANY very specific examples, but no one that matters (has the authority/ability to make any changes) cares. Apparently we who push/need the payroll to do construction/job costing are just too few to warrant attention. I've been using QB since the day it came out. I know, that really dates me, but my point is that I am certainly no newcomer to QB. The next category only went "2+ years". Not nearly long enough.

Overall: It was a real learning curve for me. Honestly, for years I would have given QB very high remarks, but that was BEFORE I had to start using the PAYROLL module to do heavy duty use, construction Job Costing and such. I'm now in discussion with the company Controller about going to different software. I'm a nice guy, but I've come to loath the problems and trying to get any help from QB, i.e., called Assisted Payroll, "I have this problem you can see on the screen." "Oh, that's not an Assisted Payroll problem, I'll get you over to Tech Support..." First thing Tech Support guy says, "Oh, that's an Assisted Payroll problem. I'll transfer you over to them." OK, and on it goes. We purchased a 30-user Enterprise 2018 for a reason. We have many users, accounting, owners, construction managers, those using Remote Desktop into the Server, etc. Last support (yesterday) said I need to be logged in as Admin (excuse me, but that is the Controller, who uses QB every day & is way above my pay grade), and in Single User mode. Are you kidding me? "Oh, you want to be able to put this car in reverse? Only when you are facing North and only on the second Tuesday of the week." Am I sounding a bit ridiculous? Well, that's about what support is now sounding like to me.

Pros: The software allows users to handle a variety of financial records, including sales receipts, payments, tax forms, invoices and inventory accounting records. Because Quickbooks is so easy to use, most tasks can be carried out without in-depth knowledge of accounting procedures.

Manage your finances anywhere, you can track sales, create and send invoices, and know how your business is doing at any time. Best of all, your information is automatically backed up.

Access and manage your books from your computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone anytime you choose.

Create access privileges so that your colleague or accountant can login and work with your data online.

Know exactly how much money you have and how much you owe at any moment - your data is synced and backed up automatically.

You can even photograph and save receipts with

the QuickBooks Online mobile app. Create custom, professional invoices, sales receipts and estimates that you can send in minutes. Instantly see how your business is performing with customizable reports and dashboards. Cons: Although QuickBooks provides an audit trail for most of the information, there are some situations in which financial information can be changed without leaving any kind of documentation.

Depending on how a customer uses the software, another potential problem is that Quickbooks does not come with a section on fixed assets.

Also in order to keep the software up to date, there are a number of costly improvements that entrepreneurs may have to buy. Normally, these updates are only needed once a year in order to receive the most current payroll and other services.

While the online service offers fewer features than the desktop version of the software, the most serious drawback is the history of extended outages.

Also the extensive features of QuickBooks can be overwhelming for some smaller companies, as they can make the software more difficult to use and understand. QuickBooks is also better suited for double-entry bookkeeping, even though many small businesses use it for only one.

Overall: There are fewer data entry errors when using the QuickBooks integration, since there are fewer data entries manually. Human beings make mistakes and the ability to eliminate the entry of redundant data will diminish these errors.

In addition, QuickBooks integration allows for the fastest workflow from the point of entry to the billing phase, allowing the company to charge faster and increase cash flow.

I've been using various QuickBooks versions for around 6 years now. Overall, the software is solid.

Pros: While I prefer the Desktop Pro version for Mac and Windows, the Online version has been getting better with more recent updates. Regarding Online, I enjoy being able to access my account on the go, via the mobile Android app. I also like that, no matter the version of this software I use, Intuit's customer service is always quick to respond to any questions or comments that I may have. Their online help forums are full of great information from actual users, as well.

Cons: Due to needing to use QuickBooks in conjunction with a compatible online project management system (Accelo), my current business must use the Online version of this software every day. I dislike the fact that Accelo and QuickBooks often fall out of sync with each other. I recognize that the blame may be more on Accelo, but you'd think that Intuit would stick to working with online apps that are more on their level, in terms of usability and productivity.

The Online version also tends to timeout a lot and is generally very slow. Intuit server issue? And I hate that Online just kicks you out of the system, and prompts you to log-in again, mid-task. I can't tell you how many times I've been working on a lengthy, incredibly detailed invoice with dozens of line items, and get kicked out, sometimes, losing my work. There should be a notification that alerts the user when the system is about to automatically log out. I understand that this happens for security reasons, but I don't think it should always be on the user to periodically save their work. I mean, Microsoft Word, online banking websites, and a whole host of other programs have this capability. Why hasn't QuickBooks online adapted yet?

Effective for the cost.

Pros: It's effective for the cost. I use Desktop version. It's less expensive than paying an accountant. You can simply save to a flash drive using Desktop. Actually, my accountant for tax purposes primarily recommended this product to me. The product itself works. I use it primarily for sales invoicing, reconciling with the bank balance and financial reporting for our small digital marketing firm. I also used a Quickbooks third-party vendor for income tax filing 1099 purposes, and it was a good referral from Quickbooks. It's a universally accepted accounting program, and it gets the basic job done.

Cons: The user interface is a bit un-user friendly. Some of the menu items are too many layers down and oddly arranged. You have to go looking for some of the menu items. There's no option to show just inactive accounts, only active or both. What if I just want to see previous clients only? That's just one example of how it's not user friendly or well designed enough. More investment on the part of the company is needed to fine tune the program. Also, the integrated program option for cloud storage of your Desktop data is not user friendly enough either, at best. That's why I just save to a flash drive. I'm researching getting an on-site physical cloud for backup data storage. If you have a billing or technical issue, it may take literal work hours or days to solve it (sometimes tech issues go unsolved by the telephone customer service reps). My billing issue was solved but it took multiple days of calling and very lengthy conversations over the same billing error which occurred more than once. The tech issue involved Desktop integrating with the cloud. It's not always smooth.

Excellent accounting software that is intuitive and has great customer support.

Pros: It's approachable. If you understand basic accounting concepts you can run QuickBooks. The platform is industry neutral, and if you know what you are doing you can use the features within QuickbBooks (customer types, classes, etc.) to set the company's QuickBooks file up to store key information to their specific business or industry. The support is excellent... if you are patient enough to wait on a hold line. Finally, there is a lot of information out there about this product. If you don't know how to perform a specific function it is likely that you can find a YouTube video giving you two or three different ways to perform something. The App Store for supporting apps has a large selection of apps that are designed for industry-specific needs. You really need to read reviews on these as some of them are not so hot, but overall there are a lot of useful tools that sync with QuickBooks. Yes, you will run into some dead ends with very specific uses, but if you are creative and understand how a transaction is going to affect the ledger when you set it up there are very few types of businesses that you can run on QuickBooks.

Cons: It is a very open format, which means that in the hands of an unsupervised novice you can really mess up a set of books. The Sales Tax center is okay, but not as intuitive as the rest of the program; but then again, neither is sales tax in general.

Overall: QuickBooks is like the hub on a wheel for my business. Everything that I build on is a spoke coming off of it, but QuickBooks is at the center.

Rescued us from spreadsheet accounting, automated subscription invoicing, improved revenue.

Pros: QB Online has a lot of bang for buck - it's constantly being improved and we've found it competes very well for functionality with some of the more celebrated accounting software names, at a much better cost, with graduated pricing depending on what you need.

It's becoming more and more integrated with other software (with connect to it with ActiveCollab for project management to import tracked time as invoices) and right from the start the bank transaction feed integration has been a life saver. It was buggy very early on but has been excellent for years.

Recurring invoices (subscriptions) are excellent when combined with delayed charges that can be collated into one invoice at the end of the month, for example. Flexible invoice templates and options for mini-statements etc have allowed us to keep our accounting workflow as simple as we prefer, while guiding clients to pay early without needing to be chased (too much...).

Cons: The iOS apps lack management of features that we need to use regularly, specifically delayed charges and recurring charges.

Logging in and out of the mobile app is a pain, as is the web app, actually, because it has a configurable logout time but the maximum is three hours and I would use it a few times a day - often just after the three hour mark!

Customer support is actually very responsive, although earlier on we bumped into a lot of 'that is as much as I can help you with' and some frustratingly low English skills, it's vastly improved and in the last six to twelve months, support has been quite good.

Overall: QB Online automated subscription invoicing for us, and we discovered unbilled charges and thereby improved our revenue, while allowing staff to work on accounts simultaneously and remotely.

That also means our sales team can generate an invoice quickly while the lead is still hot, and get the instalment invoice to the client to lock their place in our queue.

We save more time by connecting to other apps and by using the mobile version of the apps on the go.

Pros: I like that you can set rules to automate your transaction categories. There is a mobile app that will allow you to photograph your receipts and attach them to the specific transaction it relates. This is the one thing that keeps me with this software. Receipts always get mangled traveling around a lady's purse. Getting them where they go right when you need to is a huge bonus!

Cons: The "rules" do have a shortcoming, however. Intuit's free software, Mint that is intended for personal use, will allow more customization of the rules. An example would be if you write a check for maintenance for $52 every week, Quick Books Self Employed will ask if you would like to set up a rule for a transaction titled "check" to always be categorized as "repairs and maintenance." Of course, this is not the only check you ever write, but chances are it's the most common check you write for $52. Well, unlike Mint, Quickbooks will not let you add the amount to the rule. It is one of many things that miffs me about the software. Mint also allows you to create custom categories, but once you pay into Quickbooks Self Employed, no more custom categories. The absolute WORST is the mileage tracking feature on their mobile app. If this feature has you intrigued, forget about it. It may work out fine if you travel far and often. If you travel multiple short trips for work, ie a mobile beauty business, it gets really screwy. I have had it tell me I traveled 23 miles when I really drove 3 blocks. I don't think the IRS would dig that. And the customer service is a total joke. Clearly, we pay for accounting software because we work. I would say that means we don't have all day or even 3 full days to be shuffled from one rep, to another, to email, to chat, back to another phone number and never even solve a problem.

While we do not allow a dollar amount, you can you can choose another word that is unique to the description listed in the bank feed when setting up rules. This will help QuickBooks categorize your transactions.

Cons: The multi-store is awful. It uses a third party email client to send the exchanges. Both computers must be using the same email client, or it causes bugs. Then sometimes the store exchange doesn't actually update anything so you have to do it several times. This is super fun when it won't include employee hours from a satellite store and it's payday. In addition to that, if you're setting up a new store, it must be the same version as the other stores, or it won't work. This becomes a problem when they stop supporting the older version after 12-24 months, which means you have to pay to upgrade every single machine in all of your stores.

This software has been a complete nightmare for me, and if you try to call for support you better speak Hindi, otherwise, you're screwed. You don't get a native English speaker on the phone until about the third level of support. An average for me has been a half hour of hold time, plus 20 minutes per level of support, with 10 minute hold times between each "support professional". So generally, it takes an hour and a half of dealing with low-level employees with questionable language skills, asking you the dumbest questions you can imagine before you get someone who can understand what your problem is. I have to do this at least once a month.

If you watch it like a hawk; and by that I mean you check you do a physical inventory count and check your items weekly, and you double check every store exchange, it can work.

This is probably the worst point of sale software on the planet. I've been fighting it for three years, and I'm happy to say I've dumped it for something much better.

The inventory management is not good. It deletes items on its own. It changes the quantity of stock for no particular reason. It loses transactions. It generates duplicate items and prices them at $0, so if your employees aren't paying attention they give stuff away for free. It is impossible to keep an accurate inventory unless you do a physical count about once every two weeks.

Sometimes it simply loses data. For example, in 2014, it lost all records of the sales, inventory receiving and employee hours for February, March, and April. It was really a true joy to sit down and try to explain that to the IRS.

Comments: I am a sole Proprietor of a one man service business, I really only need this for keeping track Wisconsin sales tax, state and county. I work in 8 Counties & the sales tax has to be kept track of for each. .5% per county 5% for the state and there are customers who have tax free numbers that aren't taxed. Schools, churches, etc. When I file/pay the sales tax (quarterly) I have to show how much income I have taken in minus the non-taxable income. My old desktop version showed this all on one page. In QuickBooks online it is like pulling teeth to obtain that information, I usually have to call support and sometimes they can do it sometimes not. I just bought an obsolete Dell laptop with Windows 7 Pro installed on it, my plan is to install a desktop version of QB software on it and it will be safe to use until 2020 when Windows 7 Pro support ends. Then I may disable the wifi connection and just use it for the QB!

Pros: When it is working it is OK, not as easy to use as the desktop version but at least it gets the job done. I had a desktop version that Windows 10 rendered obsolete. My choice was to buy QuickBooks 2017 and hope Windows 10 wouldn't do the same thing to it or go with the online version, I went with the online version. In November there have been 2 updates that didn't update correctly & caused my desktop icon to disappear.

Cons: When I need to go to a customer whose name begins with R I can't just scroll to the R's! I have to page through, scrolling to the bottom of each page to get to the right area or go to the last page and page backwards. Why do they not put a next page icon on the TOP of each page also? The point of using software online is to save time and money, my time is worth money! Recently there were updates that didn't work correctly and left me with no icon on my desktop. I didn't want to call support because it always takes an hour or more. I tried the help forum and got 2 answers neither of which worked. Finally, there was a 3rd update and I got it straightened out.

Pros: For the most part, the first software purchase is based around the need for managing accounting and financials, and in this situation QuickBooks is the logical choice.  It is only as your business grows and your requirements become more diverse

Cons: limitations begin to show through. Let's briefly explore QuickBooks Limitations:

Limited reporting and transparency of your business health

Double entry and keying errors

Limitations with file size and data

Generic and impersonal support

Standalone application Lacks integration

Certain accounting reports in QuickBooks are very detailed and user-friendly, however, the nature of having a system that is not fully integrated means there may be data in other systems that are inaccessible. Certain warehouse or inventory data (not QuickBooks' specialty) may be more difficult to combine in a meaningful way.

If you use a separate system in conjunction with QuickBooks (even Excel or paper) you probably already know the troubles of double-entry and keying errors. Taking information from one system and manually transferring it to another is like walking a tightrope with accidents just waiting to happen. Keying errors are particularly common when data does not move automatically throughout the system. Ultimately this can lead to incorrect business information and data loss impacting customer satisfaction and hurting your bottom line

One of the most compelling reasons to move off QuickBooks is to have a single system to manage your business. No more paper, excel or inventory add-ons to worry about.  If your business is doing well and has grown significantly from when you first implemented

Pros: Excellent user interface and navigation. Flexible contact records and transaction forms. Customizable report templates. Comprehensive payroll support. Hundreds of add-ons

Cons: Poor Navigation. My biggest issue with the software is that it is incredibly difficult to navigate. Nothing is where I expect it to be. QuickBooks Online lumps feature together under umbrella words like Sales or Banking. I would so much rather have a straightforward menu that has designated tabs for Invoices, Estimates, Contacts, Time, etc. Certain key features, like Time and Estimates, don't even appear in any of the submenus, let alone the main menu. You have to access them through the quick-create section, which is incredibly ineffective. Additionally, the settings menu is more difficult to use than ever as the software exits you out of each section as you complete it, forcing you to go back into settings all over again to make any additional changes.

Limited Time Tracking- The time tracking feature in QuickBooks Online has never been ideal, but now the feature is even more limited. I hope that the company will improve this feature in the near future.

Major Software Glitch- I experienced a major glitch with my account where I was unable to use the sales tax module completely. I was in contact with customer support for over three weeks before the issue was resolved. Despite numerous promises to update me on my service case, I was only contacted about the issue once and was not updated about the Intuit engineers progress on my issue a single time. I had to call in several times a week to check on the issue

My experience with Quick Books Desktop has been empowering, efficient, and very effective daily.

Pros: The feature that is most attractive for me is integration. I'm the Hr Rep. at Placement Partners Inc. and I gather information from various platforms and applications. Integrating with Quick Books is very productive, saves me a lot of data entry not to mention eliminates any data entry errors. I can't go without mentioning the "Reports" option. On several occasions, the owners of my company are seeking explanations or documentation regarding employee hours, pay or spending in general, and thanks to "Reports", I am able to accurately provide information with the push of a button that will be produced in a PDF or Excel format for easy comprehension. There are several aspects of Quick Books that assist me in getting my responsibilities taken care of at work; especially the on boarding process & providing documentation for our employees. Lastly, props to the support team over at Quick Books. I've had countless situations where I had to consult support to help me before the cutoff time for Direct Deposit! The most recent incident I can recall preparing payroll for the end of July but my owner kept telling me that our Quick Books was showing the direct deposit had not reached the bank in addition to us needing to pay our liabilities, however the bank was telling us they received our deposits and also showed us paying our liabilities. Support connected with me and was able to identify that either or connection was down or we had not synced. Support SAVED the pay period!

Cons: I want to be clear that I favor Quick Books Desktop and it's functionalities and will expect some challenges now and again. Although I give the support team their props, it can be rather challenging to get a hold of the correct number to call and get SUPPORT. The reason I capitalize support is, often when I am in a bind and in a hurry, I will google customer service or support and will have so many telephone numbers to choose from that it is really mind boggling. Often times, the first call or second call will direct me to a SALES specialist who will quote me a price for a support package before clearly understanding my problem. The infamous "Corrupted File" is the number one reason they are trying to sell support package. It is beyond frustrating and hinders me trying to identify and correct a problem. I have used the support team enough to know now, not to call the 1-844 numbers because in my opinion, they go straight for the close (strong salesman).

Overall: timely and accurate deliverables.

Comments: Find another product. Don't hitch your horse to this wagon. This company doesn't care about your needs. Only saving money on hosting.

Pros: Quickbooks has been the cornerstone of our business for 15 years. The enterprise version is robust enough to cover our needs as a medium sized business. Our accountant likes it too. Until now, I've never considered using anyone else.

Cons: I loved this product when I made the move to the cloud a year ago. There were a LOT of issues getting it to work. However the support provided was high quality and very responsive. Two months ago they changed cloud hosting companies without any notice. We just went into work and our books were offline. Our books went offline for 2 weeks. Only ONE of us could login. (There are 5 of us so one person had to do quotes and admin for everyone) They no longer allowed you to call for support and made you post support ticket, after support ticket, after support ticket that went unanswered. They were on a 3 hour different time zone so if we had an issue at 2pm, we didn't hear back for 1-3 days. We couldn't bill our customers for three weeks. We couldn't quote our customers for three weeks (think crappy looking excel sheets that require re-entry into quickbooks instead of high quality, professional quotes). There was absolutely no way to get a human being on the phone to help us. Eventually we called the sales line and nobody gave a crap. No compensation offered. NO free month. NO apology. Shortly after the hosting move we were evacuated by British Columbia wildfires from our office for three weeks. Nobody in our office could work on quickbooks from outside our office. So at the time we needed our software to perform the most, the product failed. What is the point of having cloud software if the support is so poor that you can't get help?

Overall: I've used QB for 11 years now and been through several versions. Basically it does everything you need easily and with a fairly decent amount of logic. It is user friendly for a novice bookkeeper. That said, when it doesn't work; it doesn't work. And, here is the problem. Every 3 years, QB forces you to purchase the current version if you want to use their Bank Feeds feature. Every single time we've been forced to update our software, one or more of our company files become corrupted. Then we have problems...big problems as it stops communicating with our bank and payments can no longer be sent via the software (our primary method of paying bills). Obviously this is problematic; as is the lengthy and time consuming solution of repeated days of complaining and repeating your problems and answering same troubleshooting questions over and over again until finally getting passed up to a tech person who then comes on to try to fix it remotely...only to eventually determine that they need to take the file, rebuild it and send it back. If it happened once, I would shrug my shoulders and say, "Whatever". That it happens EACH AND EVERY time I've had to upgrade says something about the quality of the transition process. It quite frankly NEVER goes smoothly. The resolution process takes WEEKS--as long as 6 weeks at one point--so that the interface with the bank works properly. Ironically, the whole reason for doing the upgrade--to continue communicating with your bank--is the exact feature lost in the transition. It is very frustrating!!!

All that said, once it is set up and running, it is probably the best bookkeeping solution currently available...and head and shoulders better than their online version which I'm still fighting with after 5 months.

Recommendations to other buyers: Choose it over QB online--don't be tempted by the fancy auto-reconcile features of the online version--especially if your books are even a little complicated. QB Online feels a lot more stripped down and less capable than the desktop version which, upgrade issues aside, is a lot easier to work with.

Comments: The unfortunate fact is that a QB Company file can become corrupted at any time for numerous reasons, and once corrupted your primary option is to submit the file to the Intuit Data Recovery team, who inform you that their repair effort will take up to three (3) business days, during which time your business operations are effectively suspended. My advice is to consider carefully whether your business can recover from such a disruption before betting its future on QB as a business operations platform.

Pros: QuickBooks does a fine job with basic accounting functions, is relatively easy to use, and the report suite is more than adequate for small businesses.

Cons: QuickBooks Enterprise Manufacturing & Wholesale version simply does not work as advertised, as two examples among many will demonstrate. QB offers 'Advanced Pricing' functionality which enables the user to define and apply pricing rules across their client roster and inventory items list. These rules are intended to allow the QB user to apply a 60% across-the-board discount for clients Ajax and AAA, while clients Acme and Consolidated receive that same discount plus custom pricing on items X, Y, and Z. However, after the pricing rules have been applied and those clients are being billed, changing the invoice or ship date results in the deletion of the shipping cost line-item, and changes to the pricing of items on the invoice. Research with QB support revealed that Advanced Pricing suffers from a bug that was known to Intuit for at least 1 month prior to when I invoked the Advanced Pricing functionality, and a full month later Intuit has been unable to remedy the bug. After invoking the 'Advanced Inventory' feature-set, which automatically creates a drop-ship warehouse site, I learned that product being purchased from a supplier and shipped directly to our client was being removed by QB from the count of physical inventory resident on our premises. Intuit tech support rep's response was (paraphrased) "That doesn't seem right, but I don't know much about Advanced Inventory - you should call back tomorrow morning, as the day-shift staff have more tenure and are more knowledgeable".

QuickBooks = Quick Completion = Quick Tax Return = Quick Cash on Hand (and ALL with Piece of Mind!)

Cons: If I HAD to make a complaint it would be that the Intuit / QB system has allowed me to create a number of accounts over the years but didn't "flag" this this or suggest I merge them. As a result, it often takes me significant time to "locate" the actual documents I'm seeking, which I have found time consuming and annoying b/c I have such little time. So each year I Login into my account, I am confused as to "which" account QB is using and uploading. That is something I will address in the near future.

Also, there are becoming so many versions of QB's to choose from that it was a little confusing for me to decide which one to pick considering I've had several changes takes place in my status (Divorced, New Small Business Owner, Need to Document Major Assets, Expenses, Deductions and Self-Declared Income). So choosing the correct version of QB was a little dicey.....but in QB defense, I didn't call to seek help in making that decision either. However, when I finally did look into it, I still couldn't find EVERYTHING I NEED IN ONE PRODUCT (which, let's be real here, is probably a good marketing strategy), but it isn't sitting well with me. I feel it would be beneficial for QB as an organization to streamline different products to be more comprehensive and to simplify their product line for the new user. If I had never used QB in the past, this fact alone would have intimidated me enough to prevent me from purchasing it. True story.

Overall: I switched to QB as my method of tax preparation approx. 5 years ago. Prior to that (while still married), I used an outside company. I did receive great service with that agency. If you're an organized person who values seeing the same Tax Rep each year & take time to cultivate a relationship with 1 person, then it will pay off for you after 3-4 years IF your Rep sticks around. Beyond that fairly high risk, it was more costly (3x more), more cumbersome, and...... I still had to leave the house LOL.

Once single, I received a random offer for QB that promoted 1) Ease of use 2) Complete assistance in any/all deductions possible 3) Comprehensive audit protection at a nominal fee 4) Electronic e-filing 5) Direct deposit 6) State taxes completed with ease & 7) Both returns filed together.

The cost was LOW (about $100 rather than the $350 we spent/year by using an outside service). I thought, "SIGN ME UP". I purchased it online. It was delivered via email in a downloadable format with a website. In under 15 minutes I was signed up as a new QB customer w/ the flexibility of preparing my return at my own convenience in my own home.

For those of you who are terrified of Finances, Taxes and Money.... DON'T BE. I literally knew nothing about this topic and wasn't good at it. The program walks you through every stage of Tax Prep. It helps you capitalize on all money saving deductions possible, has a (?) next to each new term/item if you're unsure what they're asking, etc. All I do is input my financial info when prompted to and that's it. The program reviews your return at the end, shows you your risk factor for being audited and flags any "at risk" items about your return, and THEN suggests the changes to be made to assure your taxes are accepted by the IRS and State. Pros: Steep learning curve for non-math/accounting people but then easy and reliable, with flexible ways of inputting data. Good and numerous reports are useful. Connects to TurboTax for tax preparation so I think I'll save money on accounting this year.

Cons: I haven't figured out how to charge for sessions in which patient and insurance both pay, so I've begun just billing them separately. There is an endless feedback loop if you make a mistake in a deposit you've already made--you can't correct the deposit until you correct the payment entry and you can't do that until you correct the deposit. That's crazy making. But on the whole, no major cons and I'm a fairly incompetent money person who like it pretty well.

Overall: I'm a small business owner. I tried QB about ten years ago when I first began and hated it because I have a math learning problem. I tried several methods over the past ten years, and after having terrible experienes with combined schedling/notetaking/insurance billing/bookkeeping programs I threw in the towel and reluctantly got QB. Great move. Most people would probably have less trouble than I, but even I caught on fairly quickly. It is flexible enough for my quirky techniques, lets me know when I'm doing something they disaprove of. The drawbacks are that you have to hire someone to teach you how to use the program. I only had to do this twice. I still have not figured out how to tally charge/payment for a session in which the patient pays a copay and the insurance pays also. I have to do two separate recordings. But that works! Another plus is that my bank has a designated person to help with Quickbooks and Quicken (which I use for my personal accounts) who is fre and quite helpful. One complaint I have is that there doesn't seem to be one window where I can see the name, date of service, charge for service, what was paid, what the check number is, and what the balance is. Each report contains some of that info but not all. Accountants are probably used to that but it's difficult for me.

Recommendations to other buyers: Get the CD's so yu always have it.

Pros: it works, and most other software will also work with it, e.g. my bank, some google programs, etc. I know that Intuit is not going away, I just hope that they continue to update the software to keep pace with my business.

Cons: Quickbooks seems to play catch up with the changes for business. They do make changes, but it seems to be just a little slow for what I really need. For instance, my 1099 income is now W-2, even though it is part time or project based. Tracking the taxes related to this is a royal pain in the butt.

Overall: The damn government laws seem to change faster than the software can and I wish Quickbooks could too. Having used Quickbooks since 2000, been with this platform. Lately the 1099 income I use to receive has changed to w-2. Accounting wise this is a real pain because I invoice at one rate, then have to adjust the amount to receive to match the taxes and don't seem to have a way to just set this up to be more automatically. PLEASE FIX THIS. My other issue with the software is the growing complexity making it easy to do something incorrect, then have to waste alot of time either with Customer Service or just in the software making corrections. I do love the emailing of invoices and the ability to include related documents for customers, plus with the ability to tell if customers actually received and opened the bill. I perform quite a few product demonstrations, for different clients and brands, to send a copy of the demo report with the bill "helps" customers know what they are paying. I use Google Drive for photos and docs related to this work, I wish QB could allow me to attach stuff from Google Drive, rather having to download to my desktop, then attach.

The above pressure points need to be addressed soon, because the cost is just a bit much considering how much time I waste dealing with it. If quickbooks does have a solution or other product, which would work better, then you need to have your tech support people better aware of the software solutions offered.

Recommendations to other buyers: The online one lacks the functionality of the full desktop suite, but the advantages to login to the cloud is such a huge plus. Intuit is not going anywhere, and the customer support is the fail safe I need. Stuff is added and updated, including the layout, just when I seem to have figured out where stuff is, then it changes again.

Pros: Ease of use and able to get all my financial documents in order

Cons: Getting to reveal the install code is hard be careful when scratching off not to take numbers with it

Overall: I just received this product, and I am furious for two reasons. 1) The outside of the package said that I had to scratch off a label to reveal the license number. My fingernail was not taking it off easily, so I continued to work at it, trying to peel it off. I finally was able to gently scratch off and reveal some of the numbers, but whatever adhesive they used on the label TOOK THE REST OF LICENSE NUMBER OFF WITH IT. You can't install it without a license number, so this rendered the disk unusable. Is it really necessary to make someone have to go through that? All they had to do was insert a regular scratch off surface on the package or inside the package, and there would be no compromise of security. This is just incompetent package design, period.

2) It gets worse!! After going through Phone Menu Hell trying to get a live Customer Service person (outsourced overseas) to speak to me, I was informed that this product will not upgrade my old data files from QB 2011 because Quickbooks only supports upgrades within 18 months after the old product is replaced with the next version. Assuming that is true....the ad presentation MUST MAKE THIS PLAIN AND CLEAR UP FRONT!!! I have looked and looked again, and NOWHERE does it say that this will not update old files. If it did say that, then I would not have bought this product, which obviously is of no use. According to QB Customer Service, I can have THEM install the program for $299 and they will convert the files. Now instead, I have wasted incredible amounts of time on a product that I cannot use...and now have to work out how to be refunded.

So this is not so much a review of the software itself, but rather a warning to others who are upgrading from anything older then QB Pro 2014 that you may have a lot of difficulty retrieving your product code and you may not be able to convert your existing files to work with the new program. DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE YOU BUY!!! ]

Pros: The ability to integrate it with my current apps via Zapier. 1099 creation is huge. Great for working with independent contractors. I really like that I have a phone app for updates on the go. I can do my accounting while on the subway.

Cons: A little confusing to get off the ground unless you have time to really sit with it. Would prefer better onboarding. More options to edit the statements and invoice look to better match my company and stand out.

Overall: Currently, I use waveccounting.com but needed 1099 support and the ability to support and the ability to have an independent contractor account. As of now, this is not an option forcing me to do a lot of double entry. I started using QB online after reading the reviews and speaking with a customer service representative. She was excellent at answering my questions and making sure what I needed would be present in my account.

Execution - This was far more frustrating than I anticipated. I have a background in programming so I am not on to give up on software easily. I found the controls set in place to help you often hinder you. I feel that I should have had a better set-up option to allow for more choice in what would be automated. All of my categories were changed upon importing. The automation routinely got it wrong despite it's ability to "learn" from past choices.

Go Zen - What I have learned. You really need to start from scratch. Don't import until you have clicked every button and set-up the account in a way that is most efficient for your company. I am currently in the middle of my new set-up and I am beginning to see the benefits of QB and I feel it will be a more efficient choice going forward.

One of the top reasons for choosing QB was their integrations. Specifically, Zapier. My brokerage runs on AI's and a lot of data automation. Adding the ability to add customers, invoice and payment follow up potentially saves me hours of work each week. IT also allows me to have my CRM talk to myI took the time to look at all the integrations available and it is an impressive collection that is growing.

As of now, I would recommend this software but with a healthy dose of patience. With a better on boarding solution, I think a lot of the frustration for those of us in the middle of running a business and a need to get up and running quickly would help a great deal. Overall, it's a robust system. It has a lot of option for every type of business.

Recommendations to other buyers: Overall, a good option for a growing business. I see a lot of potential uses as my company grows.

Pros: Ease of use, and very quick to learn. This version allows up to 10 concurrent users. The audit trail and stock reports are very user friendly with plenty of filters. Expect a very quick turnaround training new staff and getting them up to speed, as the interface and functionality is hard not to grasp. Customer service is located in North America. From my experience, after upgrading to the Enterprise version, our account manager usually responded to any inquiry within 24 hours. There is also a toll free line for any technical/database bug issues In the Canadian version, plugging in to SQL server is the way to go in order to obtain custom reports.

Cons: The role centers, although a step up from the Premier version, "handcuff" users to certain roles. When it comes to the general ledger, the "all-or-nothing" functionality doesn't allow the controller to shut off access to certain parts of the financials. Ideally, the controller should be able to define a role center to allow posting/viewing in certain account groups and not to others. Inability to approve and subsequently lock down POs and SOs. Once a PO/SO gets issued, a user with basic access can always change unit costs and quantities. This hinders the business' scaleability. The Canadian version no longer allows the user to compress the data file in previous periods. This may be frustrating for companies who rely on lengthy journal entries, as the database file size will exponentially grow. If you are a job shop (or project-based company), do not expect much in terms of job-cost reporting. The software is limited to populating a customer field when posting an expense. You will have to manually set up jobs as customers and instruct staff to classify expenses under the proper subgroup. In my experience, the only real noticeable difference between enterprise and premier is the number of concurrent users (5 vs 10).

Recommendations to other buyers: This product is ideal if your accounting department comprises of one-two people and all the POs and SOs are done by the same person. For custom workflows pertaining to purchasing and sales orders (obtaining approvals, locking down orders, policing SKU creation etc), the next step up would be Dynamics NAV, Sage 300, or a NetSuite. It is very hard to delegate and manage using any of the Quickbooks versions.

Pros: Quicken is great at putting things together in an easy to use package. It's pretty much what they do. That said, QuickBooks is just that. It's a great small business accounting package. Business owners with almost any level of accounting experience can keep their books, pay employees, view reports, pay taxes, manage bank accounts and do just about anything they would expect to keep their business running. Their customer service is excellent. I haven't called them many times, but I did always get a quick answer to my question. I also liked the fact that the people I talked with didn't seem to be from another country. Good customer support isn't easy to find these days.

Cons: The one downside to Quicken is that they're also very good at making sure you have to pay them on a consistent basis. While things are comparatively easy to use, they aren't always the best deal. Payroll is a prime example of this. The pricing for Quickbooks payroll is competitive on the surface. They charge a base rate determined by the number of employees you have. (The basic level is for 3 employees or less). They also charge a small sum every time you run a direct deposit check. Their price is fair for the simplicity of having everything in one place. But the catch is that you will be forced to upgrade your software every two years to continue utilizing their payroll service. When you start shopping around, you can find cheaper payroll services that offer a much higher level of service. For me it was worth the extra 10 minutes a month to have someone else file payroll tax forms and cut the checks. I don't begrudge Quicken for operating this way. Honestly, if they weren't able to find a way to keep revenue coming in, they couldn't offer the excellent product and services they do. But for me, there was no inherent value in the upgrade other than the continuation of a seemingly more expensive payroll service.

Recommendations to other buyers: Quickbooks is pretty much the standard for small business accounting. Until recently they didn't have many competitors either. However, if you're not opposed to accounting in the cloud, there are some pretty interesting offerings online these days. These offer services with monthly fees, which seems to be the way things are going. If you don't need a lot of connected services such as payroll, online banking and integration with Quickbooks Point of Sale, Quickbooks desktop is probably the least expensive way to go. However, the need to upgrade every couple years should be factored into any decision to purchase QuickBooks if you anticipate using their services.

Pros: Easy to do charges, payments received and simple payroll. The program figures the amounts and printing forms to file, and saving is easy and efficient. They include all forms and provide reminders to file and year end requirements. I do not need and accountant for quarterly concerns. I am able to turn over to my accountant for year end corporate filings and the process in seamless. I should add reconciling is easy as well as knowing that everything that has to be filed in done timely.

Cons: Support is worse than problematic. I do not need much-but automatic charges and what they are for--frustrates me. Things are not spelled out-calling is frustrating and.I fear I may be paying for their payroll service that I do not want or use.

Overall: I have been a QB user for my small business for years. When it is good it is good and when it is not-it is frustrating. Getting help even though Intuit is in Tucson AZ is difficult and they outsource and sometimes I am just going in circles. Their automatic charge each year gives me little knowledge of what I am paying for and harder to get information. They automatically charged me over $400 for payroll and I don't use their payroll system-so I have no idea what I paid for. I hate that there are separate charges for upgrades to the newest QB and then separate charges for something else. I have never received clarifications-so often i feel I am held hostage once one relies upon QB for charges, payments and payroll I do personally and file for three employees.

Recommendations to other buyers: Know what you are getting and try to talk to someone who is not selling so that you pay for what you need, not for their automatic process that circumvents personal utilization of what is basically a great product.

I needed software that would make sure it is accurate, or if you needed to go to court.

Pros: I have used this software for years, with a few different companies. It is very easy to use, has great customer service. QB can be modified to exactly what you need, no matter how large or small your company is. You can customize reports to fit areas that you need to concentrate on as well. QB is recognized as an industry leader, and from my perspective is the only software anyone ever needs to use. Even if you have an accountant, like we do, make sure he is using Quick Books. The industry leader!

Cons: In dealing with any software you will have to get used to the different idiosyncrasies of each. Quick books has many functions, and levels you have to adapt to; however, it will be worth the learning curve.

Pros: Quick Books is one of the easiest programs I have ever used in accounting, especially if you are not sure how to enter something, it allows you the opportunity to try it out first because you can always delete the items your working on and re enter ... also the general ledger is fairly easy to get set up.. along with the quickness of setting up new customers at the same time that you could possible be invoicing... Invoices are easy to print.. I recommend quick books to all my friends.. and they like it just as much as I do.

Cons: Probably that you don't close out a year and go to the next year,,, it just keeps on going. memorized transactions are a little bit confusing to me, but I just started working with them. If I look in the help menu I'm sure it would become a bit more clear.

Overall: The most benefits I get from QuickBooks is that it is so easy to use, extremely friendly and I think If I had to train some one on it .. it is self explanatory...... I used to used peachtree and switched over to Quick Books and trained myself .

Pros: I have used Quickbooks with multiple small businesses that I either worked at or owned. It is a pretty much MUST for a small business. If you do it the right way it is a flawless way of keeping current on your accounting. Every accountant knows Quickbooks and can easily turn in your taxes with it. You will thank yourself at the end of the year for keeping up with this.

The inventory control is convenient if you sell items with your business. You input all of your inventory and then when you invoice something with that SKU it will deduct it from your count.

You can put together quotes for potential customers and then go back to the quote and turn it into an invoice if they accept. There is probably a million other things you can do with Quickbooks but these are the primary things I used it for.

Cons: The only feedback I would suggest is allowing the user to customize the invoice and quotes more than allowed. You can put your logo / watermark in it with small other changes but not completely customizable. It would be nice if you could sign the quote from the app and allow multiple salesmen for this. A link when you send out invoices and quotes that knows when a client opens it would be ideal as well.

Pros: Interring bills, credit cards. balancing accounts is fairly easy. Paying bills is also easy with Quickbooks printing checks. I like the way you can set up chart of accounts. The attachments is a god sent. If you are not using it you are missing out.

Cons: The help menu is not user friendly. Most of help the information found is not from Quickbooks but from users and you have to go outside of QB to find help. Reminders and memorizing works poorly. Very confusing on how they are to work for you. Need to be clearer on how to use attachments for receipts and statements, also be able to rename the attachment without having to remove and rename and then reattach. You can not use the enter key to search, you have to move your mouse to the spy glass and click. "REALLY"!! Cannot set a a loan with venerable interest rate. PO's cannot be used for partial billing, you have to redue the PO before you can enter the bill to balance. Very hard to use pay bill through your bank online. need to update a better way. Payroll can only be used if you use there payroll system, if you are using an out source company, which most do, You can not down load the payroll in to the payroll accounts, you have to use a work around. Need an app for company expenses, for Mileage with GPS, Time card, Photos PDF for receipts etc, preset to chart of accounts so it can uploaded. SO do not believe what the add says try it or talk to users.

Overall: Just being more organized.

Pros: It's hard to come up with things I like about the software because there are so few, it makes it challenging. I like that it is multi-user capable and that it is server, not 'cloud' based. I like that most bookkeeping firms support it.

Cons: Where to begin? First, the program is incredibly unstable. It's foundational code is close to twenty years old. Instead of actually fixing their code, they continue to pile new code on top of old. It is very archaic. It does not follow any Windows standards. For example, Ctrl+A should 'select all', in QuickBooks, it takes you to the chart of accounts. I understand the thought process behind this, but it's highly flawed logic. The software is extremely prone to crashing and data corruption is always a huge concern. In the ten years I've used this product, I've had to have my data recovered by Intuit twice. Each time, I've been without use of QB for two or more days. As you can imagine, this has a very significant impact on being able to run a business. After much review, I will soon be switching to Zoho for a stable, robust and fresh way to run my business. The cost of QB is much to high for the low level of performance and stability QuickBooks has to offer. Unfortunately I cannot rate customer support Zero. Otherwise I would.

Overall: Very few. It has taken us years to figure out how to make it work for our business. Now that there are finally affordable alternatives like Zoho, I'm looking forward to never using quickbooks again.

Pros: This accounting solution is Web-based. It makes life easy for a mobile accountant (or executive) as one can readily access the ledgers from anywhere, anytime, using any/multiple devices.

The reporting capabilities for me is another most important item to watch. Quickbooks is flexible, customizable, and easy to create reports either via templates or custom to the business scenario. It works well for both.

The interface is intuitive and easy to navigate. We have not yet experienced any lag/downtime (at least whenever we are actively using the service).

Lastly, the terror "Tax Season" is really made a lot more manageable and pleasant due to the powerful reporting tool and easy integration with our third-party tax system.

Cons: Limited integrations to third party apps. Actually, for the most basic part, we wanted to hook it up with our timekeeping app, but is currently not covered. Back to the manual solution of inputting hours brute force.

It may be a little tricky (esp at first) when using with multiple accounts. There need to manually change accounts can mess things up esp for pay/payroll.

Overall: A go-to software for accounting personal to small business projects. Very intuitive and comes with mobile access from multiple devices. Reporting is at the heart of any accounting person (esp Tax and Audit season), Quickbooks will make life a little bit pleasanter during those torture months in the fiscal year. :)

Pros: Quickbooks really made doing taxes easy. Never have I found a more intuitive and simple solution to recording financial information. I found that the product was easy to install, easier to use, and easiest to learn to master. I spent a lot of time browsing through other software, and while I have found some great ones, none match up to quickbooks.

Cons: The only flaw was that I couldn't learn to use it fast enough- but that's my own fault. Other then that it was flawless haha. I loved every minute of using this software and will continue to use it.

Overall: excellent bookkeeping and tax auditing software.

Pros: My favorite thing about QuickBooks is the simplicity of the document sharing feature. Customers can upload the statements from the bank directly to the organizational file as an alternative of emailing outside the program. I can also remind them of the documents which are in need through sending them a message. I love QuickBooks because they are very suitable to access from any device, they have good features and they are very friendly to their users. The accounting tools have also been upgraded significantly and this has enabled me to serve my customers very well.

Cons: One thing I dislike about this software is how the prices have been up surging recently which has had a negative effect to small businesses and one which I engage in. There are some relentless development in the product. However, it still does not contain some features from the desktop version.

Pros: The cloud-based version, the power and functionality to serve multiple industries.

Cons: The online version can be a bit buggy at times. Customer service is polite, but most problems people encounter are problems in the software and CS cannot do anything but apologize for it.

Overall: I have used various Quickbooks product both online and on the desktop and have found them to be satisfactory. The desktop has great functionality and is very flexible - which is great because almost any industry can be served by Quickbooks. The online software takes some getting used to for users of the desktop software, but offers similar workflows and functionality. Because it is web based, each action takes a bit longer than the corresponding desktop action, but the ability to work from anywhere is worth that few seconds.

The learning curve can be steep in Quickbooks for people who are not tech natives or who do not have any experience with accounting, but with a little studying (and planning), the opportunities are endless for how QB can provide meaningful data to help your company grow.

If you plan to use QB and do not have any experience with bookkeeping or accounting, I highly recommend finding a proadvisor to at least review your setup and make sure everything is correct before you get to far into your business. It could save you thousands of dollars in clean-up work down the road by starting out right and using the features of the software appropriately (like bank reconciliation, bills/invoices, etc.).

Recommendations to other buyers: Get appropriate training. With its flexibility and functionality, it also means there are endless options - make sure you start out right because clean-up work can take a long time later!

Pros: It is an extremely robust accounting software that also allows interfaces and exchanges information with other industry-specific programs that we use. This has streamlined a lot of our billing, accounting, and record-keeping processes. Reporting functions are broad and very customizable.

Cons: Customer support. It can be very very challenging to get the assistance you need with an issue. After several frustrating attempts at working with them, spending hours on the phone to resolve a seemingly simple issue, I have found it best to use Google to try to answer any questions or resolve issues and only call Quickbooks customer service as an absolute last resort. Every call turns into a sales pitch, and it was frequently present as if the solution to all my problems was to just upgrade to the latest version. After a couple of times trying that, only to discover the same issues still existed in the new version, I felt duped. IF you can manage to connect with a higher-tiered support agent, they do have a considerably larger breadth of understanding of the program and how to troubleshoot issues. It seems their first-line staff are not very knowledgable of IT and really felt more like a sales staff than a support staff.

Overall: Allows us to manage all of our accounting, billing, job costing, and reporting systems in one program, which interfaces with the other 3rd party HR and CRM software systems we use.

Quickbooks has been a lifesaver. Everything is at my fingertips and easily accessable!

Pros: I really like the quick upload times for documents associated with any transaction. It really helps my employees be able to save time, while increasing accuracy and accountability. I am blown away by the reports and how it's really easy to see where I am from a cash flow perspective at any second. Quickbooks also makes tax time so simple, by allowing for seamless reporting. I really like that as employees, contractors and freelancers are added to the payroll I can upload every form I need, keep track of payroll and then have the necessary forms generated right through Quickbooks. My life is much easier having such an intuitive platform with which my accountant and I can work.

Cons: I have to say that the thing I like least about Quickbooks is setting up for the printing of checks. Getting everything lined up was a hassle. I've also noticed that if I switch browsers, I have to go through the whole process again. This is truly frustrating but definitely wouldn't keep me from purchasing the platform. Just annoying at the beginning. For someone with no accounting background, getting set up is not the easiest, but once I got the hang of it, and figured out the categorization for each payment etc.,, it was better and became easier.

Overall: Piece of mind that all of my finance items are in one place with an easy access point. There aren't many things that make a businessperson's life easier and more organized in such a profound way. Quickbooks has made it easy to know where I am from a cashflow perspective at every moment. I can create budgets and spending plans and do forecasting like never before. There are many suites of software out there that can be helpful to businesses and individuals alike, but I'd recommend Quickbooks.

Pros: Very complete, generally easy to use.

Cons: Becoming harder to use with each release, and important online features are being disabled.

Overall: I have enjoyed using Quickbooks over the years; it has certainly simplified the task of managing my business. However, over the past few years, new releases have gotten harder to use, due to minor changes in the user interface.

However, the most serious problems I have seen have occurred in the last few months. One thing I have loved about this program was direct integration with my bank and credit card providers; I could download information from both of these without leaving the program. This has huge advantages, as I could track expenses and bank accounts on a daily basis. Earlier this year, I lost the ability to connect to my (checking and savings) bank. I have to leave the program and download data from my Web browser, and then load it into Quickbooks. This is annoying, but at least it works. However, about three months ago I completely lost the ability to connect to my credit card provider. Calls to that bank indicated a problem with Quickbooks that would be fixed soon. After another month, and after calling Intuit directly, I learned that this feature has been dropped and will not be restored. This is because Intuit is focusing their efforts on their online version of Quickbooks and will no longer offer such features in the desktop version. I have no interest whatsoever in going to The Cloud with my accounting software, but it looks like I will soon have no choice. I will definitely be looking at other software rather than simply sticking with Quickbooks when that happens.

Recommendations to other buyers: Good, but no longer the defacto standard in my opinion.

Pros: Using Quickbooks my company has saved a lot of time, money and effort, making the proccesses of accounting easier and facilitating the daily task in this important area of our company. With this app we can manage all the issues related to sells, expeditures and billing, in this way we can have a friendly and direct relation with clients, sellers and customers in only one place, through an interphase very friendly for me and my coworkers. Manage our accounting was in the past a big problem, but with Quickbooks we can work easily and with high precision a in a very little time.

Cons: The software demands a previous knowledge about administration, organization and accounting processes, you cannot start using this software if do not know anything about administration, how to work with clients, or somenthing about CRM, this software is for people who wants to improve their businees, but you have to be aware of how the processes of payments and billings will do, or you will be not able to use in the right way this wondeful app.

Overall: Using Quickbooks we can manage all the sells processes of our company, making an amazing relationship we our clients and buyers, because we can be more effectly doing the payments and billing and also delivering the products in the best possible time.

Pros: Absolutely the best software for my practice. I use Intuit Payroll for paying my one employee, which is my son. It automates my tax calculation and payments. The app is extremely easy to use, keeping track of my expenditures and miles. In this business, everything needs to be accounted for. There is no better option for small business accounting.

Cons: My only complaint is that the app is required to be online. This doesn't, matter so much for Intuit Payroll, but for the QuickBooks app (which is for tracking expenses), sometimes the cellular connection is not an option traveling. It would be nice to have a feature where the miles are stored locally when being input, then when a connection comes back, it automatically uploads the info. Other than that the software is outstanding.

Overall: Ease of use, the simplicity of data, and automation of every aspect of my expenses.

Pros: I like the ease of use for accounting. In my organization, we rely on quickbooks for daily orders and inventory. It works well a central location to store all financial data. Also, the reports generation tool is nice, especially as you have it memorize and customize transactions and reports.

Cons: I feel the Premier version inventory is lacking. Its hard to separate inventory from bills ( when bills come before inventory-you have to prepay and use chart of accounts ) and the inventory stock status adjustments are somewhat difficult to use.

Pros: Adapatability to client needs - any types of vendors, customers, categories in chart of accounts - it's capable of all of them

Cons: Difficult to track down automatically created errors and accounts you didn't want and correct problems once they are created.

Overall: I have used quickbooks Accountant for at least a decade. I only utilize certain features, but find it to be a very useful, versatile tool for small cash-based service businesses of all entity types. I do find that it takes some time to learn how to use various features and that some things which occur automatically within the software can be problematic and finding answers about how to undo those things is challenging. Quickbooks tends to create the impression that people without any bookkeeping experience can be assisted with their books very easily, but as a CPA, I find that most non-professional sets of books that I receive where they were created with quickbooks are filled with errors and problems that take a much longer time to resolve than should be the case. However, with the help of a knowledgeable person, anyone can learn how to keep much better track of what is going on in their business and how to understand what the various numbers mean in the reports produced. For my practice, I find it is a very useful tool and I can easily adapt most of the records from my clients into the system and quickbooks make it much easier for me to track my clients' business records and assist them with their business and tax planning as a result.

Recommendations to other buyers: No one should really use this software who hasn't had at least a minimal briefing on bookkeeping skills and concepts.

Pros: I've been an avid quickbooks user for years. They ease of use, dynamic reporting and ability to customize reports are awesome. I also really like the ability to download data directly from my bank to the software and clear checks. The desktop version is still a great value when compared to the online version and offers far more functionality, but buyer beware-- many functions will time out if you don't continuously upgrade to newer versions.

Cons: Nickel and Dime functionality-- Software has a number of "optional" features which require additional fees. It continuously nags the user in an attempt to upsell these items. My prior bank charged an additional fee for online data downloads, but my current bank (Capital One) does not. I think that this is bank to bank specific, but would greatly enhance the user experience if it was offered at no additional charge. QB Payroll is just OK for very small businesses, but doesn't have the same functionality as other systems offered by ADP/Paychex-- it does handle very basic reporting and deposits to third party payroll, and for state and local tax payments.

Customer support can be hit or miss, with QB attempting to charge for support for software specific reinstalls, or errors, outside of the user setup.

Overall: Ease of use and great insights into my business.

Pros: Quickbooks online is the easiest to use accounting solution I have found to date for small businesses. This is especially true if the individual has little to no knowledge regarding accounting. I have personally trained such individuals in under 2 hours on how to correctly keep their books up to date with minimal effort. After this little overview, they were able to do the accounting on their own without much difficulty due to the many features of Quickbooks Online. For such training, there is a large database of QB Pro Advisers that can locate someone within your area. The bank transaction feed has been a major upgrade an enables me or my clients to quickly import, code, and post their transactions to the books saving time and cutting out much of the need for manual entry.

Cons: There are some limitations on what can and cannot be changed/deleted as well as a few reports that are not presently available in Quickbooks online such as W-2 preview which can be annoying when trying to investigate something such as whether or not a paycheck was ever actually cut. In my personal experience, I had a client who had processed two paper paychecks that were never actually printed and, due to the permissions, I had to call QB customer support to void them which cost me an extra hour.

Pros: I love that this software can be access from anywhere. This is much better than the older desktop program model where you had to painstakingly export the file, then go and import it to a new computer or user, then wait for it to all load in before being able to edit / use it before once again exporting it.

I love the ease of use on the software as well. While it does not have quite the same functionality as the desktop version, for what I use it for I am extremely pleased. The interface is responsive and most features are easily found.

Taking payments online from clients is also a total breeze which has been excellent for me.

Cons: I think one of the biggest disadvantages of Quickbooks Online is the lack of customizability. Previously in the desktop version you were able to have a much finer control of the invoice and estimate template.

I've found from time to time my connection with my bank account that automatically imports my transactions has gone out and needs to be restored. While it is not a big deal it is still an unwanted process to need to go through.

Overall, the things I dislike with this software is fairly limited.

Overall: It has made doing accounting for my business a million times easier. While I've never been a fan of the book keeping that I need to do for my business, this has made the entire process much more enjoyable.

Pros: I prefer the desktop version (vs any online version) because I am concerned about online security. I haven't had any specific "hack" online but it's always in the back of my mind. QB is super simple to use: need to write a check...fill out the "check" in QB as you normally would on paper and it will get posted to your checking account (and financials). Need to deposit, fill out the deposit slip within QB and it posts it for you. Same with invoices. QB gives you a visual of each form that you would be used to seeing normally on paper. Fill it out within QB as you would on paper and it posts it to your financials when saved.

QB is also easy to learn and easy to share with your accountant.

Cons: My biggest pet peeve of QB Desktop is that Intuit makes you think you need to upgrade every year when they have a new version. I have had to upgrade every year because of my clients over the years (so I can open their files). This is where QB Online would be nice (but I tried QBO about 10 years ago and it really was horrible IMO-I'm sure it has improved over time, but it was slow and lacked features that I had in QB Desktop at the time. It was such a horrible experience that I never wanted to demo QBO ever again).

Overall: As an accountant and business owner, it makes my job easy to do.

Pros: Easy to navigate and beneficial for our business and I can run reports that are needed with ease. You can change the criteria on the reports very easily and it allows me to narrow down and find exactly what I am looking for. The way you navigate the program makes sense--which I greatly appreciate.

Cons: It is not free. I actually use QuickBooks for three different jobs. Of course, all three cost but I also use it for a non-profit group and I think it would be beneficial to offer a really, really, really simple program of QuickBooks for those that are a very small non-profit for free. Not sure how QuickBooks could track that or prove it but it would be great and such a wonderful addition to small groups that are doing great deeds for their communities. I do think that for-profits should pay the normal fee.

Pros: I like being able to see all of my accounts at a glance and differentiate between personal and business expenses and pull up detailed reports. Makes it super easy for my accountant to manage my tax reports and give me advice on money management

Cons: it doesn't integrate very well with capital one and often neglects uploading my expenses from capital one accounts. I am displeased at how I am not allowed to batch transactions under the ask my accountant myself, so I have to drive all the way to her office to mass batch transactions so I don't have to do it all myself one by one

Overall: Easy money management

Pros: Everyone will tell you it takes a while to get used to, but once you do nothing can compare. The amount of data available to you from this program is just incredible. A basic understanding of bookkeeping is a must but a few online courses and some guidance from a decent accountant will have you on your way to a complete picture of how your business is running, good or bad. We use QB online and thought it doesn't have all the features of the desktop software, we prefer to not have all our data store on one computer in one location since we often travel for work for a month at a time. Also the customer service is by far some of the best i have ever experienced of a modern company. Everytime we did have a problem we would call they took our questions seriously with sincerity and personal responsibility to find the answers as if this were their personal problem. One time we were on the phone for 2 hours and not once did the person seem like he wanted to dismiss us and felt honestly puzzeled about the software glitch.

Cons: There are still a few programing glitches, a few more than I would like there to be. The bank account connections often go down but I have a feeling that has more to do with the banks than the software.

Pros: Figures taxes, prints forms for taxes state and federal, reminds you of due dates, does credit card expenses, provides great reports for months, quarters of fiscal years and updates all changes in federal or state taxes.

Cons: If I get one check for multiple people I have to enter separately and it shows as separate deposits so I have to change manually. It should know if it is the same check number. They charge for upgrades and tax separately-rather than having the new tax table come with the upgrade. Once you start you are held hostage with their annual charges-and sometimes I resent it. Entering credit card charges is laborious every month. I have not used customer support (and they are in my hometown) recently, but when I did when I first started--many years ago--it was horrible even as they really tried to help you may need to ask for a supervisor instead of level one support. I am in healthcare and this is not specifically set up for medical, but that is a minor comment. It doesn't stop the functionality of the program.

Overall: It takes care of accounting to get to my accountant annually. It allows me to do quarterly without using the accountant. I can do daily charges and receipts without a problem and print deposit slips and print checks (although I do most on bill pay through my bank). It keeps a running balance and helps me plan for my fiscal year end.

Pros: QuickBooks is one of the few software packages that works with almost every ecommerce platform out there. Sometimes it takes a 3rd Party app to connect, but I like that you can always find a way to connect to it regardless of the platform you are on.

We like the inventory and purchase order features. It also makes Auditing inventory and sales easy. The reporting is robust and it allows us to easily pay Sales Tax, Income Tax, and Evaluate our business.

Cons: The customer support has always been awful. They usually send you overseas, and it's hard to communicate your issues with some of these people. It's often better to just Google it and figure it out yourself.

The QuickBooks Pro has limited number of Customers or Vendors etc. So it is possible to outgrow the software very fast, thus forcing you to either upgrade or place all orders under a single customer name. QuickBooks Online does not have this limitation and we are considering switching.

QuickBooks forces updates that push their own ads in the software. They cut off support for older versions very quickly, and the updates haven't provided anything useful in 10 years.

Overall: It is essential part of our every day business. It has our inventory, our purchase orders, and all of our sales records in it. We can't do business with out it.

Pros: This is a very good billing and invoice management software for small companies, good UI and secure. Very ease to use and cost affordable. Invoice management has made much easier by using this product also the payment tracking is done. The much appreciated functionality is to remind the clients about the payment and track them. I really love this software, our tax filing has made much easier. With the new GST came they rolled this too in a fast manner. In general this is a must software for small companies and tries to manage the invoices in an easier manner. Their cloud management helps to retrieve the invoice anywhere.

In general this is a great product which needs some more features.

Cons: The payment done by the Clients can be tracked but cannot know the mode of their payment, this really affects our profit. We need to know the mode of payment and needs to block specific cards since they might have high commission with the bank.

Also the UI needs some improvements, like the ease of finding the specific feature etc.

Overall: Tracking invoices, GST filing, income expense tracking etc

Pros: Having been a leader in the field for so many years, QuickBooks has improved their features and interface over the years to become more effective and user-friendly. The Online version is very convenient, accessible anywhere there is internet and providing automatic backup of your data.

Cons: The Online software is still lacking features that I came to love and expect from the Desktop version. Since it was built from the ground up, some of the features work differently and lately Intuit has made some "improvements" that are actually annoying. Customer support is friendly but not always able to help, as an accountant, I have wasted precious hours on hold with customer support only to have had no resolution or had to wait days for a fix.

A big con, is that if you don't have internet, you don't have access to your data. Now there is a new Windows app but I have found it to be glitchy and haven't used it much. The online suite of product used to be a great value but due to frequent price increases over the last few years it's no longer affordable to some of my very small business clients.

Overall: Improving workflow and efficiency with accurate accounting.

Pros: I like QB Enterprise because it can accommodate large amounts of data. I use a very extensive client list and I've never had a problem with corruption . The iconic home page is easy to navigate; preferences can be changed based on the user. The built in tutorials are helpful for newer users. More importantly for me, I can set reminders and automate recurring bills.

Cons: I used QuickBooks in my former position in an accounting firm, and found that it's not geared toward real estate and property investing. Sometimes the reports don't print properly.

Overall: Easy to use for basic accounting functions.

Pros: Everything you need comes right out of the box. QuickBooks holds your hand as best it can when setting up a company from scratch. Most novice users with a little bit of accounting experience will appreciate the ease of setup when starting from scratch.

The ability to customize your company is nearly endless. QuickBooks has every feature and function you could ever want in accounting software for a small to medium sized company. The reports are great, the way it can autofill for you almost everywhere, and the home screen is very easy and makes total sense.

I like that QuickBooks is industry standard, so you can find helpful videos, tips, and tricks, all over the internet.

Cons: If you have no accounting experience, you can very easily get lost with QuickBooks. Yes, it does a fairly good job of holding your hand, but many times you have no idea what the next step needs to be and sometimes you just have to guess. Those times are few, but can sometimes be critical (like getting a deposit to show up on your account register after getting paid.)

QuickBooks is not very fast to start and the auto backup on exit function is not intuitive to setup. If you backing up to a drive across your network, count on your exits sometimes taking minutes at a time. QuickBooks does not handle file open, close, and backup requests very quickly. I don't know why it is so slow at those actions, especially across a Gigabit network, but know going in that file operations are slow.

QuickBooks will absolutely HOUND you about buying additional services. I haven't found a way to get rid of those permanently.

Pros: This has a great user interface, as a qualified accountant, I can say it's definitely not traditional however it is functional and it has quite a lot of functionality for this price point.

For non-accountants this is a good system in so far as it is user friendly.

An amazing feature is that transactions can be edited or even deleted at least from the users perspective - that alone is one of the major reasons that I recommend this software ( the audit log maintains a complete record of the entries)

Other good points, cost centres, document storage, easy account management, multi company capable, lots of configuration options.

Cons: However this system has some flaws, and one very serious one which i will mention first.

Multicurrency capability is a joke, I would say no it's not because its so labor intensive to use it you might as well convert all your currency outside the system and just post in your home currency - that itself is a nightmare and you can expect your auditor to hate on you with a bigger bill and whining but the option of using the currency features is not great either.

I am in recovery from this right now so happily have forgotten some of the pain points, here are a few:

Entering exchange rates - tedious and labor intensive

audit trail for currency transactions - as above

Propensity to make recording errors due to the systems short comings pretty high

Quality of reporting for multicurrency - terrible, really terrible! ( the nominal ledger is available in the home currency only - if you have a lot of transactions and some reconciliations to do that is bad news.

Some smaller issues, reporting is functional /ugly although it's robust its nott very customizable either expect to do formatting in excel .

It has some really weird idiosyncrasies, for example under some circumstances to get the right fx rate on a transaction automatically i need to put the wrong date and then change it to the right date.

However you have a perpetual licence for pretty powerful and user friendly software.

Recommended except for those that do a lot of currency transactions

Pros: Accrual based financial management is a great strategy to run a business in the black. Quickbooks allows you utilize funds and manage finances that are not yet received. Profit and Loss is also key in being a tithing business.

Cons: The featureset in comparison to the Online version is lacking. Also, the network capabilities of the desktop version leaves you with corrupted company files quite often.

Overall: Up to date financial records for auditing and management. Without it, our finances would stay in the red due to planning failures and static capital issues.

Pros: QuickBooks is a versatile and useful tool for nonprofits, small businesses and retail establishments. With so many versions and specializations available with little to no change in price or service, entities are able to easily customize their experience. QuickBooks has also developed strategic alliances with other software providers to encompass specific needs of entities. At my current position, we combine the strength and flexibility of QuickBooks with several other components for time tracking and expense billing.

While I prefer the desktop version, QuickBooks has an online version that can be used on any device. QuickBooks also has the option to purchase more seats to allow for expansion of responsibilities and segregation of duties as necessary and prudent.

Cons: While versatility of programs and options is a great advantage, it can also serve as a detriment when it is time to upgrade or update software. This process usually involves at least one phone call to the service desk. Usually customer service is superior but if you happen to get the wrong person on the phone, you can get bogged down in questions and reloading. The names of the programs are somewhat ambiguous (elite, enhanced, pro, premier).

Pros: We love the ease of use for our company. We use this for accounts payable/receivable/payroll etc. It provides all the reports that we need as well.

Cons: If we do have an issue we have to go through the QuickBooks help line. It's unfortunate but most of the time, I have difficulties understanding the various accents. I'm hard of hearing and that just makes it worse.

Overall: Ease of use.. Most of the time the software is user friendly. There are some issues where it doesn't work the way you would think because certain features are not user friendly.

Pros: QuickBooks Pro for Desktop has every feature that I need to complete my daily accounting and bookkeeping by myself. The only time I need an expert as when I file my annual corporate taxes with the IRS and state government.

Cons: There is a learning curve for the software, but not a steep one. Like any tool this powerful, there is an investment of time required to explore and master all of its features.

Overall: Excellent time-savings for bookkeeping and very accurate accounting. I would recommend QuickBooks to anyone.

Pros: We use the desktop version of Quickbooks Premium edition. It really has simplified our bookkeeping processes. We find it well laid out and its main menu can point you in tne right direction, be it entering invoices, paying bills or reporting. It has a robust set of reports that we can pull for financial information.

Cons: There is a learning curve for some functionalities, for example, applying an expense as a reduction to receivables. There is a help section that can guide you through it.

Overall: Our company has been able to generate timely financial reports that can be reviewed by management.

Pros: As I run a lot of financial reports, being able to do in any point of the month is very useful. I really like the document sharing feature. The accountant tools have greatly improved making it easier for me to serve my clients. I can port in data from all of my checking and credit card accounts, both personal and business related, all into the same system easily

Cons: Initially, a bit difficult to understand. I even found a bit of a difficulty when I wanted to connect to one of my bank accounts as that bank uses multi factor authentication, and that is really frustrating as most of my transactions flow through that particular bank account. Prices are even increased too frequently so can't be relied on the software cost for long. I have even realized importing data files is more difficult in the online version

Overall: It has made it a lot easier to work on accounting for my clients saving me time and resources. A big plus for me is that Quickbooks integrates with the time-tracking software, T Sheets. Quickbooks Online has allowed for better and faster collaboration with coworkers and clients. It helps provide a detailed snapshot of the financials of the business. This helps out with making decisions when it comes to purchases, and hiring of staff

Pros: The popularity of this software comes with a host of online resources that can help you sort issues and even set this up just for you business. When you have services that cost more each month to operate vs its return. 2015 I had purchase the full version of Quickbooks from Frys had it for just under 2 years, then when I went to do my taxes the program no longer worked. I contacted Quickbooks and long story short I had to purchase a subscription just to unlock my current information. Then after calculating the monthly subscription I would have to pay vs paying for the full version without the Online subscription. I would ended up paying 3x the amount for using their subscription. As a small business owner this is a leaky money problem. There are various other programs where you do not need a subscription or monthly fees to complete the same task as Quickbooks. This is why the program is free at first. After spends countless hours learning how to use it and start placing your effort in time to work with your company, now you have to pay a monthly fee. Check your business to ensure the Con outweighs the Pro.

Pros: This software has aided me extensively in managing my and my household's finances. With all of our transactions laid out in front of us, it was extremely easy to categorize them. This made filing our taxes much faster.

The feature of auto tracker for monitoring my car mileage has come in handy for my sibling, who drives to various cities on a daily basis for her profession. With this feature, she makes money back on gas through the cashback rate.

In more detail with our taxes, QuickBooks accessibility and ease of use allowed us to estimate quarterly tax payments based on business income and expenses. It also includes assistance with regular yearly taxes.

QuickBooks also makes creating and sending invoices a breeze, and tracking what has and has not been paid has never been faster.

Overall, QuickBooks revolutionizes the way that entrepreneurs handle their businesses.

Cons: Better TurboTax integration would be great. Along with that, while there is the ability to accept payments from invoices via QuickBooks,

Pros: In all honesty Quickbooks is one of the best pieces of software i have ever used.

We were having so many issues with Xero and as you may know their support is shocking and un-eligible - the support for quick books is far superior for the simple fact of actually being able to speak to a person.

We know use API with Quickbooks to import our CRM and invoices, we use this software for all company finances and couldn't be more happier.

I would always recommend getting someone who has used the software before to help you get this initially setup but once its configured for the first time you dont need to touch it which is great and saves countless hours a week administering out business finances.

Cons: Ideally, you would need someone with good knowledge of this product to set it up the first time, once its done you dont have to touch it just let your other software feed it information!

The interface is a little confusing and visually does looks like the cheaper Accounts CRM but because of this i feel this would be a positive to the older generation looking to automate their accounts.

Overall: The software itself has given our copmany a new lease of life, the best aspect of this software is just how much time it has saved our small company!

For a larger company something more bespoke would be needed but if your team is smaller than 10 this is defiantly the solution for you!

Pros: I like that most of the features are automatic, just enter your banking information and it automatically sorts your purchases into categories, allowing the user to view invaluable charts that help you to visualize your money and where it goes. Its also a must-have tool for those who are trying to build up their credit.

Cons: Although most of the features are intuitive, I do wish there were more planning tools available, for instance, a feature that would allow you to project a budget and one than that could be then compared to your actual expenses. A few extra options like those found in a simple monthly planner type of applications that you could then connect to the powerful tools provided by this software.

Overall: For ease of organizing and tracking all of your expenses, this tool is a must-have. It takes a short amount of time to set up, but afterward the application tracks, updates and organizes all of your financial activity, allowing you to arrange the data in intuitively designed charts and graphs. It also contains a tool that helps people who are trying to build their credit, it makes positive reports on your behalf to the major credit bureaus and it even updates your credit score. It allows you to view your credit rating directly through the application. A wonderful tool that helps anyone who is trying to keep an eye on their money and where it all goes.

Pros: We are a system builder of computers used in digital signage and kiosks. QuickBooks us allows us to order, receive and track inventory. Create estimates, sales orders and invoices keeping track of inventory and AR. We have multiple users using the software at the same time all performing multiple tasks. Amazing, inexpensive software to run your business!

Cons: There are a few minor things that I wish QuickBooks could do better in regards to our assembly process, but for an "out of the box" solution it does great. We pre-build a lot of systems using our inventory and that can sometimes throw it off a little. I believe there is a different version that would handle this function.

Overall: The software allows us to handle all aspects of our business with an "out of the box" solution. We can easily and accurately run our business with the cost of a more expensive, custom software.

Pros: It is user-friendly. I like that it is online and accessible from any device. The help center is a great resource and customer service is readily available to assist when needed. Quickbooks make running payroll a breeze. Our employees can look up their paystubs online and their checks can be direct deposited to their accounts, making it a quick and easy task.

Cons: There are a few accounting reports that I would like to see added that I believe the desktop version has available but the online version does not. We do profit sharing at our company and I wish there was a way for that to be figured in quickbooks.

Pros: Once you learn it, it is pretty simple. i like to see al the employees at once and the time goes well into invoicing.

Cons: It will kick you out when sending payroll stubs. When you sync time over from ebillity it will kick you out if you are not in single user mode. Only one person can be in employees/payroll area at one time.

Overall: It is easy to use, once you have been trained. Their are a lot of obstacles to jump over though. Very sensitive and will kick you out without warning. easy to print checks

Pros: That is a very tough question. I guess that you can do payroll eventually when you get everything set up. I'm going to say adding an employee, that is relatively straight forward.

Cons: Get ready for War and Peace! Where do I start? What really strikes me the most about QB is that to me it appears that is was put together like the Winchester House, almost everything seems to be an afterthought and somethings are downright inscrutable.

To start I would create or simplify the dashboard and I would have the software configure itself according to the industry that it is being used in. It is simply not user friendly by any stretch of the imagination and is most definitely not setup for the restaurant industry of which I am a part.

Overall: First I started off with INTUIT online payroll. To give you the short version I continually had a problem logging in which they could never solve and they have offshore tech support - NOT A FAN!

I then contacted QB and they issued me that they could migrate all of my payroll data from INTUIT to QB desktop, I thought this would be the best choice as it should eliminate the issue of the signing onto the website. So thats what we did or so I thought. Needless to say that not only did they not migrate all the payroll date over but of course my report data was not correct also - NIGHTMARE!

The one smart thing I did was to keep the INTUIT account so I would have access to my old data - very glad I did so that I was able to straighten out my end of year.

It gets better - all along I wanted QB enhanced payroll where they collect all of the payroll taxes each pat period that way you don't have the hassle of coughing up thousands in payroll taxes at the end of the quarter. Every time I would ask to sign up they would come up with a different excuse why I could not. First it was "You have to close out the year, then it was "Oh the year has started you can't do it now", You will have to wait until next quarter, etc...

Finally I got to speak to a lady stateside (Must have been a holiday in Indonesia or where their boiler room is)

and she waked me through everything helped me get my 941 together and my other reports then got me set up for enhanced so I allegedly would no longer have

Pros: QuickBook is the one of the top accounting software. It greatly deals in assisting with fixed asset

management, billing and invoicing of income, payroll management, bank reconciliation and others. As

an accountant, I have used this software since I can remember. Not only that it is capable of more than

enough tasks than any other software I have personally tried, but is very user-friendly as well. The

monthly starting price was easy to keep up with and not financially draining at all when I used it before I

started working at an institution. The current institution and team I am in highly suggested QuickBook.

The availability of tech support 24/7 is a plus for our trainees. QuickBook can also be great for any

starting businesses; it tracks invoices, payments, expenses, amongst others.

Cons: A limitation with the number of characters in names, titles, or products is one of the problems I have

faced upon using this software. Being unable to name two projects similarly is also a difficulty at times,

since most clients and products have same names. Although these cons may seem fairly important, it is acceptable. The pros, and the usage of this software is far more superior than its cons.

Pros: QuickBooks is very easy to use, very flexible an user friendly. It is very powerful financial tool for most of small business, specially retailers of small manufacturing companies. You will be able to track inventory for hundreds of Items, Reconciling your banks accounts easily, printing all the financial reports in multiple format and options. You will be able to prepare a financial budget and to comparison to actual. You will be able to prepare payroll and payroll taxes. You have the option to use the online version or the desktop version of the software. You must have this software if you own a small business related to retail and manufacturing.

Cons: It is not suitable for Professional Services to track the actual cost for each project, because it is not capable to allocate the overhead to projects. It will only allocate the labor and project related expenses.

Overall: Financial Reports. Bank Reconciliation. Paying Vendors, Issuing invoices, etc....

Comments: Other than what I have said above, I would highly recommend Quickbooks Enterprise to any medium sized business that has inventory or uses projects or jobs to cost code. Quickbooks Enterprise over other similar products may cost a bit more but you get what you pay for. Check out the other cheap products and you will quickly see they don't measure up.

Pros: The reporting features of Quickbooks Enterprise far surpass any other program I have used (and that's quite a few!). The reporting features are sleek, custom and exportable to a variety of formats and reports can be memorized to save time. Probably the best feature for me as a bookkeeper/teacher of the software is that you can decide your layout (menu on the top or side), what you want to see and where. It is also the only program I have used that quickly shows the gross margin of inventory right when you select the item to query. As you go to sell, you immediately know if you can offer a discount and up-sell more product!

Cons: The one thing that I would say could be improved is that it is a cloud based program and you are at the mercy of your hosting company as to whether you get good customer service. Intuit needs to host their own server space and offer live support online to troubleshoot through issues.

Pros: Quicken was easy to use and then they introduce Quickbooks and now Quickbooks Online.

The software continues to be updated on a regular basis, and some of the most recent changes include inventory reorder points, batch transactions, invoice tracking, and faster run time. The company has also dropped their per transaction ACH fee, which is a nice money-saver for business owners.

QuickBooks Online offers true double-entry accounting with ample reports and a strong chart of accounts, as well as customizable invoices, inventory capabilities, payroll support, multiple currencies, and over 400 integrations. QuickBooks Online that you can't get with the more traditional desktop version (such as automatic sales receipts, split transactions, scheduled invoices, and location and class categories).

Cons: Can't get my Quicken data to the convent to QuickBooks on my new Mac. The customer service leaves something to be desired; both the quality and quantity of support are surprisingly poor for such a large company. Time tracking and project management features could also stand to be improved, and I still prefer on Quicken desk version better than the online

Pros: Ease of making changes and corrections to existing data. Ability to lock data so it can't be inadvertantly changed. QB Online's ability to sync so many other products (a real time-saver). The ability to manage taxes, payroll, billing and payables all from one software package is probably the biggest plus for any business (of course some additional add-on costs are incurred for upgrades).

Cons: The folks at Intuit do upgrades without always considering all customers' needs. A current problem we're experiencing is with "automated" sales tax. Great for some but I have clients who deal with multiple tax rates and we have to manually work around the "automated" tax.

The Online bank matching auto-fills too much and bad data gets added creating lots of cleanup later (since I'm reviewing on other people's books). The ability to "lock" a date range for bank "find match" searches would be a real time saver. Maybe this is somewhere in the setup?

Split paychecks are HORRIBLE! The individual checks show up on the matching screen but Intuit exports them as a single paycheck. I don't understand why they can't fix something that is so commonplace. Seriously...this is Intuit-to-Intuit product mapping.

Pros: The software is very easy to use with a clean appearance - but other than that, I have zero pros to add on this software.

Cons: The customer service is of the worst I have ever dealt with in my life. I say this after dealing with them on numerous occasions and at the end of each of those calls, coming to no resolution. If you do call in, you can expect to be on hold for a minimum of 45 minutes, and when you do get a hold of someone, they are most likely to have much less knowledge on the product than you do yourself. They are still holding on to money from one of our clients and have yet to even try to assist with the issue and refuse to escalate myself and my team to another department. I have also dealt with many synching issues related to American Express. When I called in to discuss and try to resolve my issues, they said they "were working on it" and it would be resolved in one week. It's been over one month now and I have yet to get a resolution. It has caused a massive amount of manual work for me. There are constant duplicate entries created by the system and other flaws which have also caused me to do a TON of manual work and makes my work flow much less efficient. I would NEVER recommend this software to ANYONE.

Pros: Universality---every accounting professional is highly familiar with the product.

Cons: Pricing has been getting steeper over the years. Need to upgrade hardware every now and then is necessary to keep speed of transactions acceptable.

Overall: For over a decade, going back to the simpler precursor program "Quicken", I and associates have used numerous successive version of QuickBooks, and found the user interface and program stability excellent. While never pushing the program to its limits in terms of different modules---never used it for payroll or check preparation, for example, and don't keep realtime inventory control records, the QuickBooks program has fulfilled all our perceived needs for invoicing and enabling close monitoring of income by customer, both for retail-type and wholesale modes of selling products. There is excellent user forum and blog advice available, owing to the immense number of active users, so almost any problem has already been answered somewhere searchable on the Internet. Reports have been useful for yearend use by various accountants for annual tax preparation, and all such professionals we have used for over a decade have been highly familiar with QuickBooks. Larger databases as years accumulate and number of products increase does require enhanced server speed and capabilities plus faster networking hardware to avoid time lagging when preparing invoices. Definitely a powerful and flexible choice of accounting software for a small or even medium-sized business user.

Pros: Quickbooks is very comprehensive and gives me all the accounting functions I need to keep my business running smoothly. The payroll module makes processing my payroll simple enough to do myself - I am always assured of up-to-date tax tables and am even able to submit my quarterly wage reports electroincally to the IRS

Cons: Update for payroll subscription is cumbersome when you purchase the Quickbooks/Payroll bundle through a retail store.

Overall: A comprehensive software package for managing the accounts payable, payroll, and payroll taxes for my business. Easy to set up and easy to use!

Pros: It is pretty easy to use and allows you to delete records to correct mistakes (but is terrible from an accounting point of view to be able to delete records like they never existed).

Cons: From a technical point of view, it is horrible. Seems like the product was designed in the 90s before they needed multi-user, so the entire database sits in one file. Their "solution" to multi-user access is a joke and ends up corrupting data. It is a common fact of life with QuickBooks having to constantly run data verification and rebuilds. Many changes require kicking all users out of the system, so prepare for many coffee breaks. In a QuickBooks multi-user setup, normally a specific computer (server) is designated as the host and should not change. If for any reason a QuickBooks client from a different computer has problems connecting to the host, it will automatically start a "repair" program that will change the settings so that the client computer becomes the host. It does this without explanation, so all of a sudden none of the other clients will be able to connect to QuickBooks (because all the other client computers were configured to look for the file on the server). In two instances, this "repair" program straight out deleted our company file. QuickBooks also has a Linux version of the file hosting program. But I advise against using it. They don't officially support it and none of the support staff know anything about it.

Recommendations to other buyers: Look for systems that use a proper database server like MS SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc. They are designed to handle large volume of transactions and users without corrupting data. Anything that uses a flat file is just asking for trouble.

Pros: Ease of use and support availability. I keep books for four non-profit organizations, one with payroll, and I find that the software almost thinks for me.

Cons: Switching from one business to another can be cumbersome. I frequently get a message that the company data is not available. Usually after the second try it will open the company.

Overall: Easy to use, cuts down on errors in accounting.

Pros: The invoicing system is really great and simple to use if you want to keep track of accounts receivable. You can customize everything easily or just use the generic options. There are a ton of apps you can use but i have not checked them out much besides the basic ones. I mostly use for keeping track of payments due and for quick and easy invoicing of customers or clients

Cons: The customer service is awful. There is no way to reach them by email and they encourage you to speak to the community. I have only called up once and it took 45 minutes to reach a human. With Quickbooks you will not need customer service often but when you do its a big hassle. This is the biggest downside to the product and if they had normal customer service I would give them a 10 out of 10. If you never need to get support the product is excellent, otherwise its "just" very good.

Overall: For manual payments like our membership if people do not want to pay with credit card or paypal or they have trouble we can quickly send them an invoice and they can pay securely through Quickbooks. ACH receival is free also so thats a big plus compared to rates of sometimes 4%+ on intl payments on paypal. It also is useful to keep track of payments due and send reminders for late payments etc.

Pros: There are endless important applications related to this software that are imperative to running an efficient business, such as payroll, bookkeeping and financial reports. It is useful to both profit and non profit organizations, especially when tracking Grants, Expenses as well as Profit and Loss. This software is very detailed allowing the user to enter and track varying types of expenses and income. And the payroll portion is like not other software. It is an additional fee, but it completely worth it.

Cons: As stated above, the additional fee associated with payroll can be intimidating after purchasing the software, but it is worth it in the long run. Other Cons are that it is not naturally intuitive and needs some guidance and instruction. Bookkeeping and accounting are not my background, but with assistance from others I have been able to learn and navigate the program.

Overall: Endless business applications and financial support that it is very important to running and sound and healthy organization.

Pros: This software is packed with features. I can run my entire business from Quickbooks. Prospects/client management to projects, estimates/invoices and bank reconciliation, the project has everything. It is very easy to know where I am with regards to project management with the To Do list, contacts, etc. One thing this product has that I have not seen in any other is the contact list per project. Most have a list of contacts per client but Quickbooks allows me to have a unique list of contacts depending on the projects which is very valuable to me.

Cons: It can be a little overwhelming to find everything at first but then it becomes easier. The receive payments feature can be a little confusing with regards to receiving against an account and publishing the payment into the bank account. Once you know what you are doing, it is not as confusing.

Overall: Overall business management like no other. Easily reconcile bank accounts at the end of the month

Pros: It handles the categories and allocates the monies into the financial accounts if they are set up correctly. The memorized transactions, check writing, and account balancing work well, easily, and allows for speedy completion of tasks. One can move from company to company easily. It also allows for a multi user and installation on a laptop, making it appropriate for a small office with one main bookkeeper, and the owner watching the funds. The user can set up multiple separate companies, or with proper accounting assistance establish an "umbrella company" but keep the P&L issues separated for reporting

Cons: First, the mandatory password and changes required every 3 months is a hassle. Second, the software will set up extra folders and create extra files which I don't want, like, or use, and we cannot get rid of them. Unfortunately, QB does not appear to "play well" with other programs for lawyers that are supposed to be integrated. Thus, I have a separate time keeping program and run double books -- which is both a blessing and a curse.

Overall: My entire accounting system, check writing that is legible because it is printed, and my accountant prefers it

Pros: I have used both Quickbooks online and we switched to Quickbooks Desktop. We made the switch because we noticed that online you are limited because of the internet, while on the desktop you have the full use of the software. Plus the online version it is a monthly fee you pay for some companies that might be great for us going Desktop made it easier because it was a one time payment. With the online service you are renting the service. Desktop you own the software. Online you have only one company file, with the Desktop versus you can have multiple company files. With the online versus your companies data is stored with Intuit. With the Desktop versus we own the data not Intuit.

Cons: For some companies who only need one company file and they are not concern that they do not own the data then the online versus is for you. But for our company we were always concern about?

Where is your file and do you actually have control, or possession of it?

If you do not have an Internet connection, or you missed your payment, do you still own your file?

Plus the online fee is per company, and for us we have preferred the desktop because we could have multiple companies for the same initial cost.

Overall: What I noticed with QuickBooks is that it provides advanced functions and insights. The Desktop Pro version simplifies accounting and helps companies like ours stay organized despite of the large amount of data we have to collect and analyze. A plus for us was tracking all the bills, and tracking the overdue items, which are gathered in a single location.

Pros: We have been using this web based software for around 5 years having used the desktop version for 10 years prior to that. The main advantage is easy access anywhere with no concerns on backing up your data. These alone are worth the very reasonable monthly costs. I chose QB online as its market share attracts a lot of 3rd party integration App developers which help me streamline our processes and save a stack of cash on administration costs

Cons: Some years ago the UK based support was non existent, over the last 3-5 years this has been massively improved with a UK based support team. Can be a bit laggy when the USA wake up, this can be overcome by using the desktop application that somehow sync's with the Web based platform. I've never tried this, but can see how others might

Overall: Overall QB Online helps me run my two business from anywhere, I can process any amount of suppliers bills, make payments, run reports etc etc ... from my armchair if I wanted to. The 3rd party apps that sync up are great , you need to be prepared to put in some leg work to understand how this all hooks up but once you have it all set up it works a dream. I reckon I save 1.5 admin salaries per year using QB Online and all the other apps

Overall...its worth 10 times the cost

Pros: Easy for my clients to use and for me to teach them on. It lets me be able to stay connected with my clients on QB Online. Up to date information and reports. User interface is simple and effective.

Cons: The fact that its had to link things like Etsy or Amazon with Online QB. Also the fact that not all banks work with it and some app require payment to use

Overall: easy to use and learn and great way to keep your business on track!

Pros: The ability of the book keeping and being able to see where we are as a company, financially.

The program is very reliable, and stable. Very affordable. For what it does it was very well worth the money.

Cons: It does not have a button to update a estimate. When I have a 7 page estimate on a house and I have to redo it because cost change so often in our business, it is a pain to change each item 1 by 1. Takes too much time. So for that I have to do it in another program. Which if you had a update button it would save me from having to do that.

Overall: We have used Quickbooks Enterprise and have loved it. It makes our company much more organized and efficient. The money we saved per month on sending out bills alone paid for itself in a matter of a few months. We are a retail Lumber Yard and it has been great. It takes time to get it set up in the beginning and get all the part numbers in, but once your done it runs great. The only thing I wish it did is update estimates. We sell homes and when we do a estimate and the price changes many times a month I would like the ability to update the estimate without having to reenter all the parts.

Changing the parts and prices is easy, but when you have a house estimate that is 7 pages long it takes a lot of time to update them.

Other than that I love using it overall. Great on book keeping.

Pros: Easy to learn, fairly intuitive, widely used by others so I can get advice from people instead of the customer support group.

Cons: Has many features that a small financial services business does not need (inventory, sales, etc.) and the customer support is difficult to use because of language issues. Also not easy to correct errors that non-accounting people like myself tend to make.

Overall: I have been using QuickBooks for five years, and although I am not well versed in accounting and bookkeeping, I have been able to pay bills, send invoices and receive payments, balance checking and savings accounts and prepare everything for the tax accountant, without too much stress. My only issue is the language difficulties dealing with customer support on the telephone. I do not know if they are in the US, but everyone I have talked to is not a native English speaker and there are many issues that are difficult to explain and resolve without many instances of repeating myself. Plus many times I do not understand what the customer support person is saying. I pretty much try to solve issues myself and not contact the support line at all.

QuickBooks also has many functions that we do not use at all (inventory, sales reporting, etc.) and I wish there was a "QuickBooks Light" program that only had the things we need to use. We can't change to another software because this is what our tax preparer uses.

The desktop version of QB makes its usage one of the best in its category. Very smooth on the system

Pros: Its amazing how you can always keep track of account balances after paying off bills and printing off checks is an added feature to make small businesses look professional when you print checks directly from QuickBooks. They also let you add checks to the queue to be printed so you never miss out on any payments that need to go out. They also have a huge list of reports that are pre built for easy access and also have custom repots that can be built depending on your need.

Cons: I have always had the inconvenience of not being able to save a registered address for a vendor and a delivery address for them which makes it difficult when mailing out checks to vendors which have a different mailing address. This adds a step to my process when mailing checks and i have to create a dymo label in such cases. It would be great it we had the option to save a registered address (for 1099s for evry year) and an area for delivery addresses (for the checks to be mailed incase of different addresses)

Also QuickBooks online needs improvement and can freeze at times.

Overall: This software helps me in easing my day to day needs for account balancing and vendor payments and bill applications.

Pros: when invoices do send, i have a copy in my outlook sent box. that is helpful. I like that payroll is pretty simple to use.

Cons: at least once a day, when trying to email an invoice to a customer, it shows that it is not responding. then I have to shut down quickbooks and my out look email. restart both in order to get the invoice to send via email. happened 3 times yestarday.

I also wish there was a way to have the notes you've typed on the accounts (which i use for collections) would transfer to the reports. When i send the reports to the owners of the company, it doesn't show all of the effort i've made on the accounts to collect outstanding balances. i have to manually add them to the report.

Pros: Even though I'm not trained as an accountant, Quickbooks makes it easy for me to record donations and make payments. The reports are rich and useful, and allow me to provide different levels of information for board members, funders, staff, and auditors. The class tracking system also allows us to determine how grants are being spent and how much remains in each grant.

Cons: Because the file is so big, Quickbooks can take a while to load, and we have had to purchase more powerful computers to ensure that there is no lag time in running it. And the Home screen, while it has a lot of features, is not necessarily intuitive to me. Sometimes, it can be a challenge to locate the tools I need quickly.

Overall: We do so much of our work in Quickbooks. As a provider of emergency financial assistance, understanding our own financial position is key to serving our clients. We have used Quickbooks to classify income and expenditures in ways that help us budget carefully, so assistance is always available for vulnerable neighbors with a critical need. It's been easy to teach staff members who are social workers, not accountants, how to process payables and understand reports. But the CPA who serves as our board treasurer gets the level of information that she needs, as well.

Pros: I've been using Quickbooks for at least 20 years. It fills most of my needs in running my several businesses. The feature set is very broad and the software is considered a standard in the industry. I can quickly write checks, track expenses and bill my customers with ease, although sometimes it can be frustrating to understand what is happening under the skin. There is a wealth of online help, since there are so many users out there. Most times an answer is a short search away. The reports features allow me to see what's happening quickly and I can communicate with my associates the status of our projects with ease. Integrating with my accountant is easy since I just export a windows version of the data and they can work with the data directly.

Cons: Sadly, intuit still doesn't treat us Mac users as equals. There are still valuable features missing in the Mac version, and I continually fear that the Mac version may someday be discontinued even though I'm sure the installed base has been increasing over the years. There's no reason for there not being parity at this point in the development process.
