Pros For teachers, PowerSchool was very easy to use. It was intuitive for them and gave them access to a lot of information about their students. Cons PowerSchool for Administrative use was horrible. The data that they pulled from our old system was incorrect and it took them 4 months to hear us stating we had a serious problem. The administrative side was not user friendly. Although you could get detailed information it was very hard to figure out to get it. You basically needed to know programing language to get the full use of the program. Review Source ML Marie L. Schoology helps me see my grades and lets me submit things easily. Cons What I disliked about PowerSchool was the lunch money system. I am unable to put money in my account. Pros I’ve worked with other SIS systems in the past, but Powerschool offers the most customizable options for communication with students and parents, assignments, and reports. January 12, 2020 5.0 I use it daily in my job with my student records and it is very reliable which is great because I depend on this program to do my job. Pros I like the ease of the navigation with this program. It can be customized to fit what you need to get from it. There are numerous ways to query what you need to find out. I don't know how the teachers feel about it or if it's easy for them to use. Pros SUPER easy to use once you are registered. Can have multiple kids under the parents' account. Mobile-friendly. Can see grades for each assignment, overall grade, if they have missing or late work, upcoming due dates, etc. Can email a teacher directly from the app. (FYI - This is something that would need to be implemented at the school level.) Cons Occasionally I wonder if it's a good idea. I mean, this didn't exist when I was a kid but I do like knowing how my kid is doing so that if they ARE struggling it doesn't get too out of hand. I " August 21, 2019 5.0 Pros I love this app. It helps me stay up to date on my kids grades and what is going on in there classes. I love being able to see everything that is going on daily with my children and their school. Teacher Education Management Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Easy to use" April 9, 2019 4.0 As a teacher I use PowerSchool and PowerTeacher daily for attendance, checking the kids' information, such as birth dates, parent numbers, addresses, ect. You can add grades and seating charts as well. I'm also able to check on my special needs students' IEPs and edit my sections of them. It is a brilliant tool and keeps everything organized and all in one place. Pros I use it daily at school. I didn't have to take any special training, as it's pretty easy to figure out. I can go in and edit things I've previously put in without having to go to any hassle re-accessing and changing things. Cons Sometimes I have to go through clicking two or three menu items before I remember the combination I need to get to the place I want. Review Source SP Sarah P. It is a nice platform. My only complaint is not related to PowerSchool at all, it's more the teachers. I do not like how they can add all the projects and points but are not alerted to update their grade book in the system. I have run into several instances where I thought my daughter wasn't turning in her homework, but here it was her teacher not updating PowerSchool. So I think it would be nice if the system sent the teachers some type of alerts as they add new projects in the system. Pros I love the immediate updates that I can see as a parent when my children's teachers update the grade book. Cons That you are not able to past years report cards. It is a real bummer when the school districts no longer mail out paper report cards. Review Source CW Christina W. Pros Students can easily access files and documents that I post for my class. Everything is in one place and it can be organized easily. I can indicate the reason code for the absence. Cons I would like to have a function where I can ask for the reason code counts in a certain date range rather than having to count them by hand. Pros I love the fact that it has push notifications as grades are entered. As teachers are entering grades the parents get a push notification. You can see at any given moment how your student is doing. Also, from the teacher side they make it as easy as possible to enter grades. The site is always up and responsive. Cons I'm sure it cost the district a pretty penny but it is good software. It can be a little confusing fir first time aprents when adding a new child to the software. I’ve never had experience with another similar program so I’m not sure what would be better. Pros The basic features are fairly easy to use. It’s not hard to explain or for others to learn how to use. Cons Some of the more complex features were confusing like printing certain grading reports and weren’t super customizable. Pros PowerSchool makes it easy to take attendance and submit to our office. With a little digging you can definitely do more. Cons It’s not intuitive to run reports, labels or gain other information. However, if you dig (it have a colleague show you!) it can be done. Once you master recognizing the icons, you can quickly input the information you need to begin your day in the classroom. It keeps track of absences in an organized and sufficient way as well as lunch count. It has teacher's backs when needing to provide sufficient evidence of absences/ tardies. Pros I love being able to check my childrens school progress from my phone! I also love that i can keep track of their lunch balance, links to directly email teachers. My students also enjoyed using it. Pros I love the LMS feature and the data analysis tool. The LMS allows teachers to create online content for students, while performance matters help keeping track of students progress. Cons Many of the activities that required grading in the LMS rarely moves to the grade book. It was always showing an error. Powerschool makes Registering and enrolling new student easy. Pros Powerschool makes tracking student attendance easy. It captures student data and stores it in an easy to find spot. Great data management tool for schools. Most of the software is intuitive even for non tech savvy people. Cons There are a lot of data collections options and some are not as obvious as others. The program has so many capabilities so the more in depth research is a little tricky. Having in depth training would be helpful for more complex data.
