Credit where it's due: it's easy to use, and getting processes documented and in front of staff was simple. Over time, though, the cost versus value didn't add up for us. Today you can get AI tools to build most of what Trainual does for yourself fairly easily, and that's what we did. We moved our training content into our own internal company portal. One caution for anyone signing up. We renewed annually in February 2026, about $3,000 for the year, and asked to cancel in October with roughly four and a half months left. Trainual confirmed the cancellation, but under their terms annual fees are non-refundable, including any unused portion. We also asked for a goodwill partial refund or credit, and that was declined too. Our access runs to the end of the term, but the money for the months we won't use is gone. If you're trying it, start on a monthly plan until you're sure it's a long-term fit. Pros Clean and easy to use. Simple to build and organize SOPs and training content, and staff can find what they need. Cons Cost versus value didn't work for us. Most of what it does can now be built in-house with AI tools. Pros Trainual takes our processes and lessons and makes them implementable and repeatable, without me having to repeat myself. This saves me a ton of time, daily. Cons Nothing! It’s easy to use and didn’t take much effort to get started, which helped us get traction pretty quickly. We haven’t fully rolled it out yet, but even so, it’s already been a big improvement having processes and documentation in one place instead of scattered across folders and people’s memories. The Trainual University courses are a standout—they make it much easier for less tech-savvy users to get comfortable without feeling overwhelmed. Support has also been consistently excellent—quick, helpful, and easy to work with when something isn’t clear. One thing that really stands out is how involved the Trainual team is. They actually listen to feedback, stay active in the community, and seem genuinely interested in making the product better. It doesn’t feel like you’re just using a tool—it feels like there’s a team behind it that’s paying attention. Pros It’s really easy to use and didn’t take much effort to get started. The layout is clean, so you’re not constantly explaining it to people. It's great that we can test our team members and track their progress with training. Trainual has solved the issue of having scattered documents because everything we need is centralized, and everyone uses the same information. It's fantastic being able to know who is engaging with the content. I appreciate the capacity to include presentations and YouTube videos, which was initially tricky but ultimately very useful. The platform also allowed us to update our training library with pre-recorded YouTube materials, making everything easily accessible. Overall, the training sessions were highly productive, and the setup was quite smooth. This organization and centralization have been really helpful for us. When you use Trainual you can build a complete training program (I just did that for a client) or use it for one-off needs for communication with your team. AND you can easily verify who has completed which tasks. Cons I really cannot think of anything I don't like or anything I'd change at this point. Many members of the firm have spent countless hours working on setting up our page, but have run into issues daily trying to accomplish our goals. Upon launch day, we had so many issues trying to get this out to our members. One example is that the user screen is totally different from the administrators screen; it was extremely difficult to teach someone how to use new software when the page looks totally different from what had been working on. I reached out and got on a call and then figured out this was not even possible unless everyone had editor's rights under "Contributor." This has made using this program very challenging and kind of a waste of our time. The customer service has responded quickly to my messages, but a lot of the issues we've had were not able to be fixed. A couple of them were glitches with the system or were added to a list to be worked on in the future. Pros This software is a great idea and has several successful functions. It allows businesses to save time by having a program that is able to store several videos and passages that explain how to complete certain tasks or use different applications. It allows businesses to update information as new things arise or update, which is extremely effective for a business as times change frequently. Cons Formatting is difficult to use. For example, users are not able to edit their own typefaces or sizes of text, which is necessary when trying to organize things effectively. Also, when copy and pasting text, the format totally changes and does not resemble what was copied. This adds several minutes onto accomplishing a task, as you have to go back in and change the formatting several times in order to get it to look the way that you want. Functions are difficult to use. For example, we have been using the embedding feature through Vimeo. This took several hours to try to get all of the videos embedded because the page kept crashing and would not load the videos. The videos were about 30 seconds to 2 minutes long, so not long at all. I had to log out and in several times to get some of the videos to load properly. This took several hours of time which was extremely frustrating and inconvenient. This is an essential feature for our business as we are teaching employees how to complete different tasks or use certain applications. The customer service chat function is difficult to use. I appreciative the quick response from agents I have spoken to from Trainual, but it is often times difficult to type out issues in a chat. I think it would be much more effective to have a Customer Service number in which users can call and be able to talk and explain their issues. Review Source Chris V. We mainly use it for onboarding and its nice to have one platform for the new hires to see everything they need to see in one place. Its always a hassle to keep it up to date but that is nothing to do with trainual. Pros I like the UI/UX design the most. Seems really user friendly compared to other onboarding software I have used in the past. I also liked how easy it was to integrate Okta as well. It's helped streamline all of our processes and policies. Everything is in one place, in the same format, and is searchable and easily accessible by everyone at our company. We're able to onboard new team members much more efficiently and effectively, and ongoing training is so much simpler. Pros Incredible onboarding team and customer support - they always go the extra mile to make sure you're happy and comfortable with Trainual. Clean user interface with so many useful tools - it's easy to make my training content readable and engaging inside the platform. The smart tools help me clean up my writing (make it shorter, longer, more concise, summarize a block of content, expand on a sentence, etc.) and the insert options help me easily incorporate docs, videos, images, tables, and even gifs. Cons Getting all of your content onto the platform takes time, but that'll be the case with any similar products. It's worth the investment. My advice is to plan well in advance and use the onboarding support team to the fullest - they do this day in and day out, so they have great advice on how to get up and running in a way that'll work for you and your team. Pros Trainual is easy to learn and navigate. I appreciate the constant updates, the variety of integrations available, and the responsive customer service team. The Trainual app is user-friendly and appeals to our young staff while the desktop version makes editing and monitoring completion simple. Reports and public sharing are great features. Trainual University is also helpful. Cons I wish that training paths were part of the basic plan. It would also be nice if there was a video tool that didn't allow employees to skip or fastforward through each video. It is easy to implement, easy to use (as a teacher) and easy to use (as a learner). Cons The loom integration is fantastic, but it seems like a lot to have to pay for Loom on top of the Trainual cost. It should be included. Pros Most useful is the simplicity and ability in sending specific trainings to specific members. If someone is struggling in one area we simply reset their training and go back over it with them. We are looking forward to teams so we can begin doing this by group as well! Cons Really need to be able to categorize members into multilayered teams for ease and precision in what is being sent to train on.
