I like most that it is ideal for documenting standard operating procedures (SOPs). I also think that it helps new hires ramp up faster.

Pros

I like that its has a clean, intuitive interface, both for creators and learners. You can structure content quickly using templates and modules without tech expertise.

Cons

Trainual is fantastic for processes, but it’s not built to be a full knowledge base like Confluence or SharePoint.

Easy to use in general. Alot of customization available if you know your way around the platform. Easy to keep track of progress.

Cons

It can get confusing if you arent familiar with the platform or do not use it frequently. It takes some getting used to.

### "Not great system"

It looked very promising when we started however its not easy to get teams to update, as the UI and systems are not user frendly . Also, if you want to send a policy via PDF its not possible the display of the information is all over the place.

Pros

It was promising from the sales team, but the system is not great. Some of the features are useful, I am unsure if this system can be used in any company.

Cons

\- If you want to disengage out of Trainual, there is NO WAY to download or move data -There isn't a way to download in bulk

Pros

I was able to complete training for a new position from the comfort of my home at my own pace.

Cons

I didnt like the percent displayed for the completion of the profile. It stayed at 97% because I did not upload a profile picture.

### "A Must for a smaller organization"

Being able to store all of our material within one place is what is great about Trainual. Using SharePoint is good but it has to be done in file formats and that I dont want. Its very easy for files to be lost or you forget the name. This one allows a couple of admins and the rest view users only. If I wanted to I can track where my people are in the training process with the assessment trackers.

Pros

I love the fact that I have full control over everything within Trainual. Being able to add, remove, edit anything within Trainual is something all companies should want. We shouldnt have to ask for permission to add stuff to our training guides. I can start a guide and leave it until I am ready to publish. I can go back and forth without anyone seeing it or my work getting lost until I am submit it for publishing. It has banners, allows inserts of docs, videos, YouTube, and other apps. I can even record what I am doing on my computer with the Chrome extension. That is an awesome future. The cost is also good and you can store tons of information within it. The templates are also a huge help.

Cons

Personally after 1 year, I dont have a lot of negative stuff to say about Trainual. Anytime ive needed help, its been pretty easy. Maybe a suggestion/recommendation future would be cool. Something that can give you some tips or advice on how to make your current training guide better. More of a want then a con though.

The biggest business problem solved with using Trainual is outdated processes and procedures being used and "passed around" due to hard copies being saved. These hard copies would sometimes have hand written notes by team members of when the processes changes, but would be hard to follow. With Trainual, we are able to keep everything up to date quickly.

Pros

Trainual's ease of searching and editing as an administrator is one of my favorite features. To be able to search for any subject, topic, test, etc. and find all associated trainings and topics with that field is amazing. This is a time saver when trying to help my team.Being able to edit an existing topic and training and have it instantly available to my team is another key feature when our processes change. This has helped with any outdated information that a team member could have had with hardcopies of training material.

Cons

In some instances, if a member does not have the proper access, they are unable to see all available topics when they search. It takes an administrator to search and assign the topic or show the team member the material.It can be time consuming to get everything in to Trainual, at first. Once everything is documented, though, it is easier to keep updated.

Your team is lucky to have a manager that cares about their success in this way. Super awesome news - we just released an update a few weeks ago that enables content to be searchable and access to be requested without the need to perform this manually for your employees. Head to the Account settings page and toggle on the option to "Publish content libraries." Be sure you've toggled on the options to share the Company and Policies pages with your team, too! Then they can search and request access on their own. Additionally, you can use the AI tool in Trainual to write a rough draft of your processes to save a ton of time! Keep an open mind to what is possible with the AI tool - it knows more than you might think! Thanks again for being a champion of Trainual!

### "Cutting edge can be a scary place"

Overall it's going to fill our need for business process documentation well. It has the features and support we need at the right price. I only with it weren't called "Trainual" because it's really not a training platform.

Pros

I love the responsiveness of the support team and the structures they have in place for deploying the platform. It's a clean, well-though-out platform with a good balance of structure and flexibility to meet most organizations' needs.

Cons

There are a lot of features still in development, and a lot of pieces changing. Dark mode was released, but doesn't work yet with the brand styles. There is a "Team" tag separate from the "role" and "title" fields, but it doesn't have any functionality yet. Sometimes the colors are off, or the whole page shows as code instead. It's nothing a refresh can't fix, but there's definitely a feeling of making sacrifices for the sake of being part of a vision.

### "Helps us scale our growing organization"

Pros

Content is one of the few ways businesses can leverage themselves and achieve massive growth. Trainual creates this foundation for best practices/playbooks so that the founders/leaders are not bottlenecks as "walking SOPs". Instead, we have one place that houses critical knowledge that is easily accessible by the team. Training can be consistent and documenting them makes us stronger in our processes which helps identify and solve issues quicker!

Cons

Quizzes show answers after first attempts, causing the quiz taker to copy the right answers instead of referring the content and committing it to memory before retaking. The user directory is a nice feature and would be even more powerful if admins could add additional fields, custom or standard (i.e. Phone #2/work phone, etc)

I read \[sensitive content hidden\] book, Business Playbook. It made sense and we immediately got to work on building our playbooks.

Having the option to embed video, external websites, and quizzes to test comprehension is fantastic. Because of team restructuring and turnover throughout the years, it has been helpful to have a centralized repository of training materials like Trainual.

Pros

That was the best option at the time, and it still is today, because it allows us to centrally store documentation for all applicable procedures and regulations. It's simple to direct a team member to the relevant section of the Trainual whenever they have a query regarding a procedure or policy.

Cons

This is more of a suggestion for how to arrange things than a critique of Trainual itself. In my opinion, it's best to have a single Admin in charge of all of the data. We had things more in order before we added more teams to our account, but now they're all over the place.

So far Trainual has been exactly what we needed for our org. The training and onboarding was probably one of the selling pieces for us. We were in the trial phase and \[sensitive content hidden\] got on multiple calls with us to help us think through the best way to utilize the platform.

Pros

We like the fact that we can keep all of our training, handbooks, and processes in one place for the whole team to train on and then references later. We can also update in real-time.

Cons

There are some pieces that aren’t customizable that I would love to change. We have teams that have more robust training that need their steps broken down a bit more and it can get cumbersome with the current layout.

### "The answer to what I was looking for"

Overall it has been great. It is easy to use and figure out and it is helping me go deep in systemizing my business.

Pros

We have high turnover and being able to make initial training part of the hiring process have helped us weed out applicants who are not serious. It also provides a great way to get people to complete training before being eligible for raises and promotions. I like how I can track the progress of my team, and quiz them to ensure comprehension, as well as the different media I can implement to help drive home certain points.

Cons

The pricing model that does not include all of the features unless you pay the premium right off the bat. It takes a long time to get all of the systems into Trainual, and I am not able to release it right away to my team so I didnt want to pay the premium if they were not going to be able to access the features right away. I will probably upgrade to the premium later on and revamp my lessons, but I am a bit conflicted about having my team go through re-training at that point just to see some flashy new features that I would have liked to implement at the beginning.

### "The Thing You Didn't Know You Needed!"

We absolutely love Trainual: as a company, a team, and a product. It has become the foundation of our company and the place that we are working so hard to get all of the information. As we build this plane while flying it, we appreciate how easy it is to write down what we are doing so it is easier next time. Prior to Trainual, sometimes I felt like MacGruber holding things together with a paperclip and a gum wrapper based on my memory or other team member's institutional knowledge and now we can capture it all, sometimes in the moment. We plan to be using Trainual indefinitely.

Pros

There are many things that I like the most about this software that have to do with features, but I think the features would not be useful if the platform wasn't designed with a foundation of a solid understanding of how small businesses function and scale. So, to start with, I love the philosophy and approach of Trainual as a company and the team as humans. Trickling down from there, the platform is designed that way - it is clear it is flexibly designed, but kept intuitive, and thoughtfully updated with feature requests that have the greatest impact across their users. The organization of the content makes it easy to jump right in to get something created along with the template gallery helping to streamline it all.

Cons

I have two suggestions that are specific to how we use the platform, and I have submitted these are requests so I know they are in the hopper: 1) make the directory accessible through the mobile app. Often times when we hire new people, that is what we want them to be able to access and they are doing everything from their phones before they are in our workplace. 2) update the time stamping to track each time a subject/topic/step is completed for each employee. More Specifically, when you have to provide documentation to the department of labor for unemployment claims they may request evidence of the days/times that you asked someone to complete and then review a policy. In trainual, only the reviewed date is saved so you lose the evidence of the initial completion date. We have been in this pickle twice, and I would like to not to have to track all completions and reassignments outside of Trainual for compliance reasons.

Trainual offers all of the major features that we desired in a knowledge base/LMS resource. Beyond that, their team continues to actively engage with users to gather feedback and make their product better aligned with our needs. Our team uses this on a daily basis and I expect it to become more and more central to the way we operate our business.

Cons

Any time you invest hundreds of hours developing content within a framework that you do not control, that is always a little concerning. Response time to needs/bugs and the possibility of future pricing changes could become challenges. At the moment, support has met expectations and we are happy with the product and service.

One of the standout features of Trainual is its user-friendly interface, which makes it easy for even non-technical team members to create and update training content.Another key benefit of Trainual is its ability to streamline the training process, reducing the amount of time and resources required to get new hires up to speed. With Trainual, our comprehensive training programs cover everything from onboarding to ongoing professional development, while tracking employee progress and completion.

Pros

Trainual allowed our company to finally have ONE place to store training collateral. The user interface is friendly and functional, with features that appeal to all learners. I love the option to embed video, something we could never do with stand-alone PDFs. I also value the search that allows me to find every training piece with keywords. When we complete quarterly/yearly audits this allows me to easily locate all items that need to be updated.Lastly, I love being able to parcel training out and not overwhelm new hires with all content at once. Our training modules allow me to give them only access to that day's material, which is topic specific. This allows me to create a learning journey for them at the pace they need.

Cons

The testing process. I like the idea of testing employees, but being allowed to retake a test immediately after not passing leads the employee right back to the quiz, where they then try to guess the answer based on elimination. I would like to see the option when we build tests to link it back to the step in the process that is where the answer resides. Then when the user misses that question they are routed back there to actually re-read the content for the answer.

Reason for choosing Trainual

While we did not use an alternative product before, we were locally storing training materials on our own intranet. Due to the intranet placement in WordPress, we could not give many people access. That meant our WP team was managing our training content, this included not only storage but updating. This was not ideal. We were also not able to create the training journeys that Trainual supports.

The data may be quickly sorted and searched. Having everything set up ahead of time will make it much simpler to locate the specific concepts you need to grasp afterwards. It's also helpful to be able to monitor your own and your staff's training development.

Pros

Onboarding Time is saved and efficiency is increased as our staff receives continuous training and development thanks to our efforts. Simple interface! The addition of Loom is fantastic. Loom also offers excellent onboarding training materials.

Cons

One potential drawback is that training doesn't make extensive use of gaming techniques, which appear to be crucial in retaining today's workforce.

Excellent experience overall. It is the back bone of policies, training and reference for our company.

Pros

This has enabled all employees to have access to training, reference and libraries of company resources. It makes onboarding and training quick, easy and less stressful.

Cons

The sections could use some flexibility for customizing for our company reference areas. SOP's vs. Policies vs. Training vs. Documentation. It gets confusing where to put all of the stuff. I also don't even know much about some of the features in the Trainual from this survey. Finally, if you want to become an absolute invaluable resource that we can NEVER live without, then assign a rep that we can work with to maximize and assess usage and direct us on how to manage, organize and leverage the tool. I would pay extra for a year or two of support/success service with an assigned rep that gets to know my business.

And thank you for your feedback on content organization customization and for getting a rep for your account. I have great news for both of these for you, though! On the content organization customization side, you can actually rename the "Company", "Policies", and "Processes" sections to any names that make more sense for your business. To do that, go to "Account Settings" from the top navigation, and then scroll down to "Custom Terminology". From there, you'll be able to rename the Trainual terminology to anything you'd like. In regards to having your own representative, for Scale accounts that are over 50 users, we do assign those customers with a dedicated rep that is there to help you get set up for success.
