The features that are offered work well and reliably, so you can be confident using the messaging, chat, or video calls for your business. I would have liked to been able to record and live stream though. The recordings are so important for employees that miss meetings or for tracking our clients pets while in the facility. Pros I like that it is free and easy to use. The chat and video feature is great for having meetings without everyone present. Cons I really don’t like that you can not screen share or record your meetings. The live steaming feature is absent as well. I was able to choose something that was easy to remember (at least I think) and completely dissociates Peanut Media from me when I need it to. Another reason it is great is that I can tell it to show me the number so I know it is a customer calling and I make it an importance to answer, especially because of the time we live in now, where telemarketers knows how to get local numbers and you get 20 calls a day. Cons I would love if there was a way to mask the call but also show you it is Google Voice calling? Like a notification that pops up as the phone number is calling so that there would be no need to mask the call with the phone number instead of showing the customer. From the beginning it was very easy to use, it has a simplified and intuitive interface, with what is necessary, no more and no less. Pros Google Chat is an underrated tool and may seem very simple, but it is actually quite useful and efficient as it is directly connected to their platforms: G Workspace and G Meet, which gives more ways and solutions to digital work, and for me it has been a great alternative; it is hard not to take advantage of such an accessible product, with which I only need my gmail account, and to add my contacts I only needed their emails or phone numbers; so we are all in a more secure, reliable and private space but with all the advantages of group collaboration (chat rooms, bots to integrate more apps, external file upload, information and document sharing, etc. ) Cons Nothing really. It has very few limitations, but I can't be picky about something that has been so useful to me. June 5, 2018 4.0 As users of Gsuite and Gmail, it makes perfect sense to use Chat within the Gmail window for informal daily communications and collaborations. Pros We use Gmail for our business emails, so it is very convenient to have the integrated G Suite Chat available in the same tab and window of our browser. We will typically use Chat when it is more appropriate than sending an email for quick daily messages to keep our business running smoothly and efficiently. Chat allows us to quickly share status, have 1-1 and group conversations, share links and even quickly paste and send a screenshot. Chat is used daily by all business members, and chat logs can be optionally saved and searched later right within Gmail. Cons Chat messages that are send while the recipient is not online are usually not seen or noticed when the recipient does log on later. This is a major issue for Chat and makes it unreliable for important communications. Pros It's integrated into several of the Google Workspace tools, so it's easy to collaborate with team members and schedule meetings. It has cross platform abilities (web, Andoid, iOS) so you can access Chat from any device. You're able to chat directly to someone, create group chats or make permanent spaces to chat with people. Cons If you do have quite a few active chats, you may lose visibility, so you'll have to pin those that you deem important. The same applies for Spaces. Not so much for Business" November 17, 2021 4.0 Pros This software is totally fine and easy to use on a personal level. It's simple, doesn't have all the bells and whistles but works just fine. You can attach photos, attach docs from your google drive, and all that normal stuff. It's also handy that it shows up in the side view of your gmail account. The app is easy enough to use too. It's just nothing super fancy, and is pretty minimal. You can search for things in Google Chat which is handy and useful for sure. Cons I'm sure there is a way to make a group chat, but I just don't see it working nearly as well as Microsoft Teams. I much prefer that for business use. I would only use Google Chat for personal use. There is a desktop app for Google Chat, but I don't think it's nearly as advanced as MS Teams. Review Source TB Tyler B. Gmail is a great platform and the chat is an easy, must use! Pros If you have the Gmail platform for your team... Its there, it works, it works well. There is nothing to dislike about the chats. Mobile or PC, its there, simple, easy to implement and communicate with your team without any third-party apps Cons There isnt a whole lot of cons to it, other than mobile I guess. If they are on IOS, they have to download the app etc, its not already there. Still works well, just added steps. I have been using it for 10+ years and keep coming back. Pros Google Chat has been around a long time. It's easy to use, and it does the job. It is tied to your gmail account which makes it especially useful for chatting with contacts in your address box. Cons Some of the directions they have been moving G-Chat in aren't great. There are limited options for searching your chats for information you may need from the past, but thankfully google does store all of that information. It might just take a while to find it. Because Google is getting more ingrained into the business culture, asking for advice or simple corresponding with people outside of my own company's network is that much easier when both parties can use the same chat service instead of passing slower emails back and forth. Cons My understanding is that you must utilize chat from within Gmail. This is fine generally speaking, but does make the experience unlike that of using messenger by facebook when you want to interact with many people at once or view past conversations quickly. The searching functionality is also baked into email search which makes it hard to find things that were in chat but not email without looking up specific search filters you wouldn't use elsewhere.
