It is fairly new though so it may not allow the flexibility of slack or teams but im sure it will improve as they update something every few months Pros I like the vault feature best, so even if i delete an important chat it will be available for compliance and archiving. File permissions is another thing i like in google chats compared to other communication tools as it allows me to select share a file in a group with a particular set of people within that group. Cons I think its APIs at the moment are fairly limited and do not provide a lot of integration options with third party tools. Wonderful experience is all that i can said. Pros Google Hangouts is free to use and comes with Gmail account. I can create and join multiple chat group to help me separating from work group chat and personal and social group chat. Another thing that i like is, it can be easily accessed from my smartphone as i mostly only have my smartphone when i am out from office. Cons What i like the least with Google Hangouts is, it has limitation on file size that can be sent thru the software. I can only sent and attach a maximum of 200MB file size, and need to switch to other file transfer software to sent a file that sized more than 200MB. Other than that, this software is very helpful in connecting me and my colleague. Gmail won't be the same without having Google Chat attached to it. Pros I like how Google Chat is integrated into Gmail. You can easily message people on your contact list while writing emails. I also like how you can actually call phone numbers on the call/video feature. Not all chat programs have this. I used to use this feature when calling clients so my personal number would not show up on caller ID. It's easy to have group chats as well. Cons I heard that they are phasing Google Chat out of the desktop version of Gmail. This is unfortunate as this is really the only place I use it. I tend to use other messenger apps on the phone. One thing I wished they had changed was the ability to scroll through contacts easier when looking for the person you want to send a message to. Right now, only a small pop up box shows up, and you need to scroll through the entire list. There needs to be a way to just type in the contact name to have the message box pop up. Honestly I would like a more fictional view for all my chats instead of the list view but once again just being nit picky. Pros I like that it saves my chats from google and from gchat. it creates a seamless transition from the app on mobile or computer to my gmail on computer for sure. Helps me always keep up to date on work conversations I may have missed especially in group chats. Cons I dislike the mobile version. i miss the connection to gmail. when its on mobile its more its own app. more like a skype clone which is not bad just not the same as on computer but its still good. As it is linked to google, many things can be done with and through it. It's a great software to help team meet and discuss. Pros Super easy to use as it is directly linked to events in your G-calendar. Once you create an event to book a video call with someone, the link appears directly. You can easily find it back in your calendar. You can also add in some integration like Modjo and else to make it even more powerful. It's a cool software because it allows teams/people/companies to meet and see each other. Features are great : You can chat in parallel, raise hands, share screens etc. Cons Sometimes it seems like the software is not fluid enough. It depends a lot on how many people have their camera on, the internet reach, etc to make it work efficiently. When it bugs, people in my team tend to switch to other softwares. I appreciate that I can post messages and get alerts promptly. You may even hold team meetings from one central location—technology at its most advanced. Cons While utilizing workspace, I haven't delved into the Google Hangouts part of things yet. It has been brought to my attention that the price is a bit unclear. If the designers could provide a better choice to integrate all of these aspects into one and make it so that the cost can be identified, we would most likely employ it on the business side. This kept everything organized and in one space. That's been phased out and Google is pushing for Google meet and chat to take over but besides that it's been my go to for over ten years now. You can keep your personal number private and have Hangouts be the business cover and still have everything go to one device if you choose. Cons It's very minimal on it's capabilities now that Google voice has been removed. You can't make calls without voice. Also the need to have a Gmail account can be frustrating if the person you want to talk to doesn't have Gmail, now that voice is removed. For that reason, it's my go-to video chatting tool. The integration into Google Calendar is also handy. Cons It's not nearly as feature-rich as some alternatives. It won't replace your need for a tool like Zoom or WebEx, but it is a nice alternative for quick calls. Besides that, our daily work communication and collaboration is easy with it, even for non tech users. And being a part of GSuite, integration with the rest of it gives us a lot of possibilities, beyond daila chatting. Pros Clean and simple. Easy to access existing chats or create new ones, groups. I use the webhooks in some modules I've developed for my company and there are never any issues with them. API is very well documented so it was very easy to integrate it. Easy to find keywords or people. Collaboration during pandemic home office was possible thank to this software. Integration with the rest of GSuite is cool too. Love the dark mode. May 24, 2022 4.0 I use Google chat because the access is extremely easy, if someone doesn't use this tool, they just need their Gmail account and they are in, plus this chat is a bit more professional because you can integrate it with applications like Asana through Bots. Pros What I like most about Google chat is that I don't require installations and learning curves; having my Gmail account, it's as easy as logging in or activating it. I can easily add contacts through their email (this is the main way I use, but there are more ways to do it). It also has the connection to Workspace tools, so I have access to my Drive files to collaborate in group rooms or in a private chat. It's very basic but I find it essential for dealing with colleagues. I work freelance right now, so am using it less these days, but in the past have worked in charities and it is essential to day to day communication with co-workers. It allows you to easily and quickly ask small questions without clogging up the inbox with unnecessary emails, and also without physically getting up and having to disturb people in the middle of their work day. I've been with orgs that have used project management software; they have been very expensive and in the end the only function we've really ended up using is the chat. GSuite already has that, and it's free. Cons It doesn't pretend to be anything different, but it's very basic. If Google expanded it even a little bit it could easily supplant things like Slack, which many people/organizations are currently making use of, as it allows for things like topic threads and easier group file sharing. Cons This software is rebranded to Google Chat, and with it, some of the feature that it used to has have been removed or reallocated. This is the software where we actually have group chat at work. One of our group chat is for log-in information so we can track the chat time stamp from there and compare it with the log information we have on the screen monitoring software of the company. Pros It is the quickest way to communicate with the people at work specially when you are always on your google email. The mobile version also give me the ease of getting important or urgent worl related matter even when i'm not in front of my computer. File sharing is also great because other platform doesn't have this option. I can easily send screen capture needed by my team leaders for checking our work progress. Cons Only with the screen sharing, there is no option to share sound of your computer. I believe that this feature requires improvement. But if you are not doing any post production job then its fine. It is the easiest and quickest way to communicate with people at work specially if your companmny is using google server email.
