April 29, 2019 4.0 Good chat tool with no hiccups except adding people to groups. Pros Google Chat is an easy way to chat quickly with co-workers. It also allows for quick attachments to be added to chats, especially if the attachments are in G Suite (Google Slides, Google Docs). There are also easy smart watch features, with timely notifications. All round great chat service with no lag for work. Cons Google Chat also syncs with the older Google Hangouts (or the Gmail chat that our firm used to use). Some people find that easier to use. Another issue is adding people to a group on Google Chat. I have not been able to find a way to do so unless I create a whole new group! Review Source Trang H. It allows us to keep contact with other Gmail members. We can chat, share files and also use Video call with Google Hangout. It also helps us to keep the conversation history forever. Cons What I don't like in this chat tool is they don't give us notification when a message comes from a stranger, so I often miss message from people who are not in my Gmail list. Seamlessly transitions from desktop, to internet based to mobile usage. Uses very little bandwidth. File sharing is also quick and easy. Cons For in-office use, it would be great if there was an easier or more efficient way to create channels for specific topics. There are also no formatting options for the text used. I like that you can share the conversations across the phone with the app as well as on the computer through gmail without losing parts of the conversation. Cons Limited if the people you are talking to don't also have Chat. The main reason I would use this over the regular texting on my phone would be to be able to video call all phone types, but if the other person does not have Chat, it does not work. Being able to drop in documents, live links, video chat links, etc. keeps us moving at a fast pace and makes our team that much more effective. Pros This product is super easy to use, works flawlessly, and was incredibly easy to implement. We pushed this product out to our entire team, and use both in the office to replace emails and pointless meetings and it helps keep our remote staff connected to the team as well. Cons I literally don't have anything bad to say about this software. I would highly recommend it. It has vastly improved our workflow and communication without any downside. Cons The application and browser version are not equal in all regards, as some features are present on one but not the other. However these are few and far between. The fact that it's part of Gmail just sweetens the deal. Can't go wrong. Cons All I'd like is to have an integrated GIF search within Chat (a lá Slack).
