My overall experience with ACT! has been nothing short of exceptional. As of 2026, this represents a 29-year business relationship—one of the longest and most important professional relationships I have, including compared to many major service providers and financial institutions. I began using ACT! when my business was in its earlier stages, paying roughly $99, and over the decades I’ve watched both my company and ACT! evolve together. Today, even at a significantly higher investment, it remains worth every penny. Few companies can honestly claim to have delivered this level of consistent value, adaptability, and service over nearly three decades. What has kept me loyal is simple: unmatched customer support, dependable software, and continuous improvement. Their technical teams have repeatedly demonstrated an extraordinary willingness to solve problems completely—whether it involves troubleshooting, Outlook integration issues, or even recovering critical data. Their willingness to stay engaged until the issue is resolved provides a level of confidence that is increasingly rare in today’s software world. Like any long-term software platform, there are occasional technical hiccups, and at times communication with offshore support can require a little additional patience. However, these are minor considerations when weighed against the incredible affordability, depth of functionality, and level of service ACT! consistently delivers. ACT! is far more than just a CRM to my business—it has been a foundational operational tool for nearly 30 years. Their combination of value, reliability, and customer commitment is extraordinarily difficult to find, and I fully expect to remain a client for as long as I am in business.

Pros

For nearly 30 years, ACT! has been one of the most valuable business relationships I’ve had—including compared to my banking partners. Very few companies today deliver this level of long-term value, service, and reliability. What stands out most is their exceptional customer support and continuous software improvement. In an era where many major companies charge significantly more for limited online-only service, ACT! provides direct, high-level technical support from experienced senior technicians and engineers who genuinely stay with you until problems are fully resolved. Whether it’s recovering critical data or troubleshooting complex system issues, their team consistently delivers. ACT! has remained an essential part of my business infrastructure because they combine affordability, powerful CRM functionality, and unmatched support better than virtually anyone else in the industry.

Cons

If I had to identify one drawback, it would be that the software can occasionally be a bit finicky—particularly with things like Outlook integration needing to be reset or reconfigured from time to time. That said, this is rarely a serious issue because ACT!’s support team can typically remote in and resolve it within minutes. My only real criticism would be the occasional communication challenges that can come with offshore support teams. In a global business environment, that’s simply part of modern customer service, and it’s a small tradeoff considering the outstanding level of technical support ACT! provides at its price point. Ultimately, any minor frustrations are heavily outweighed by the company’s value, responsiveness, and commitment to keeping clients operational.

### "I've evaluated others, but ACT is my CRM!"

I have been using ACT for many, many years. I started with version 2. I was a beta tester for several releases and I've worked with upper level technical support staff. I know this software and it greatly helps me and my business

Pros

Easy to use. Very powerful. Easy to customize - layouts, fields, groups, etc. Easy to navigate so workflow through the sales stages are logical. Great Features. Integrates with Outlook - so individual and mass email mailing are easy as well as recorded in history. Affordable. Customer support is easy to reach. The program version and online version are very similar. There are many security levels for individual people and/or groups where access is or is not provided, and it's easy to modify.

Cons

The marketing automation is not easy to work with. Also, the I beleive texting out of ACT should not be a feature that I need to pay extra for. I've also butted heads with technical support, as I found them unflexable as to how I use the software. I'd also like to remove some unwanted files, but you can't do it yourself because they are all sitting on ACT's server.

### "Sales Success with the support of ACT"

I have been using ACT since it first came out in the 80's. It is essential in organizing my Sales Program which is to make contact calls- opening new potential contact (downloading lists), Target mailings, keep track of following up calls and prospect to close, Tracking and Reporting Sales.

Pros

How it compliments my structured sales approach in making and recording calls. It helps me to organize my day and keep focused on the selling activity

Cons

I would like to be able to sync the ACT Calendar with my Outlook Calendar. To better manage appointments.

### "Act's New Enhancements"

Act is customizable like many of the other CRM Tools on the market. Customization must come with details learning tools so we as customer's can see how these differences will enhance our businesses.

Pros

The pro I like the most about Act is the customer tables, however I am still learning how to effectively design and use these tables.

Cons

Support at Act is a challenge as the organization is looking to better support as some of the new products are not managed well when they are out for the Act client support. With my new business Real Estate it would be more prudent in having the ability of managing contacts to properties and properties to contacts.

My overall experience with ACT is better than average. However, it could still use some upgrades making it a more user friendly CRM.

Pros

The ACT desktop version is simple and easy to use for looking up contacts, taking notes, and generating pipeline reports. I appreciate having the capability of synchronizing updated information to the cloud.

Cons

Using ACT for marketing and setting up work flows for email campaigns is not the most user friendly feature. Additionally, the customer support team is great but language barrier's can sometimes be a challenge in achieving desired results in a timely manner.

Very poor. I am giving 2 stars instead of 1 because the customer success department is decent. As mentioned, if there weren't 34 years of company data in the notes field (which is not something you can migrate to another software) I would not use this CRM.

Pros

We recently took over the family business, and if we didn't have 34 years on relevent data we wouldn't stick with this CRM. Hvaing used Salesforce, Hubspot, and other internal private CRM's I have to say it is the most inferior and non-user friendly one I have encountered.

Cons

Static non-movable notes section. Formatting issues with the notes section, and constant glitching. Inability to copy and paste from preview. Weird organization method for contacts and company. Customer Success department is good, however having them in an overseas timezone when the 7th largest world economy is in California is very invonvienient time zone issue. Their overseas I.T. department has abolsutely no idea what they are doing. They were 15 minutes late for a ticketed scheduled meeting, and wouldn't have shown up if we didn't call them. They then hung up on our internal I.T. guy when they got confused, and then lied about it in the log notes; saying "he asked to put us on hold and never came back." I verified this later in another call.

### "What happened?"

First 20+ years--fantasti! Life changing! A secret weapon for my business success! the last 4 months--clunky, inefficient, disappointing.

Pros

The idea of what is possible. I'm a longtime (20+ years) ACT desktop user and have been devoted to ACT. Last year I moved to the cloud version to try to save some money because I'm reaching retirment and now only use it for personal reasons. I hoped for the same easy use.

Cons

The cloud version is clunky. It dumps out .ao files that have no purpose and you ust have to delete them to keep your system from getting cluttered. Tech support told me there is no fix for this. I can't get it to sync with my Google calendar--just doesn't work. About every third time I open it I get a repeat of the "getting started" menu that no longer has any relevance for me but visually clutters and obscures important things on my screen. Overall, I find it to not be that worthwhile and am looking for another alternative that is suited to my limited needs but that will work more efficiently.

### "Great contact management software"

My overall experience with Act! is positive. When I have had to call support they have been very helpful.

Pros

The online version of ACT! is more user friendly than the desktop version. I didn't realize this while using the desktop version. I like the fact my information shows up on my mobile phone in real time and vise versa. I haven't found anything to give me the value of the product for the price.

Cons

I have had problems with Outlook and Act! syncing. I find that I have to do it manually. I have a hard time using Act! help. I have to go to ChatGBT when I have a question about how something is working or call support to get help.

### "Why I love ACT!"

I use ACT all day almost every day. I recommend it to my clients and usually setup a custom contact screen and fields for them. I setup some client like Acupuncture and similar with a 3-D merge. Basically, a 3-D merge first merge is to pick which documents (several of hundreds) will be used then it merges the information from ACT to the end document. Such a cool thing to do.

Pros

Customer support is great. Features are great! Being able to create new fields easily. Having groups and fields really make it possible to do so much.

Cons

A few things. Not relational. Not being able to create/edit fields on the desktop is not great. I love the desktop but really hate the online version. Only go online to create or edit fields. A few bugs that have been around for years and never fixed.

pretty good.. overall. I am able to use it for organizing out data for the most part. Updates are taking into consideration users needs.

Pros

Easy to sort and look up advanced queries. Easy to organize lists once created for sorting and selection.

Cons

having to create my own work arounds, bugs after updates and losing shortcuts I used frequently without notice. That when importing new data, the options are to merge or write over the field content. In the case of importing a phone number column with records with or without content in the column. A blank cell imported into the ACT Phone field will write over existing content. Work around: import all contacts with a phone number, then import all contacts without a phone number and omit that column. Excel imports with blank cells should not write over existing content in a database, it should ignore.

I have had it for nearly 10 years. I have desktop and cloud based. At first it was an adjustment with the cloud base system but now i like it because i can access on my phone, tablet and computer. The tech and support team respond fast to inquires and any help i may need!

Pros

The thing i like most about act is the cloud based system. At first i had desktop and i can only use it on that device, now with the cloud i can access across all my devices, (public and private too!).

Cons

I actually dont have anything that I least like! The program runs smooth, the tables are adjustable and I can edit things to my liking and based on my business.

### "Love My ACT!"

I have been using ACT! for 30 years and I will never switch to another CRM. I started with version 3.0 on the desktop and now use the version 26 in the cloud. Overall, the tech support to excellent and extremely reasonably priced. I now work remotely for a business 1,500 miles away and send them daily reports on my activities. I really appreciate the ease of creating Excel files from ACT! lookups; this used to be very cumbersome but now it's just a matter of clicking an icon. Great!

Pros

ACT! is the most powerful, versatile and convenient business building tool I have ever found. What I like best is the fact that I can find ANYTHING in my database in seconds - before someone finishes telling their name when they call, I have found their record and scanned the notes. It's awesome.

Cons

There's nothing I don't like about ACT! but as an independent contractor, there are features in ACT! I have no use for, like marketing automation and reporting. And I still don't know what the Timeline is for.

The customer service is exceptionally great. They have helped with the integration of contacts. Have been available when I need them.

Pros

I like that it keeps me organized and can set meetings. I can set up pricing and forecasting. Keeps me organized. I just wish it was easier to use on the run.

Cons

I don't like having to be online to access it. I asked for a desk top version but never got it. Personally, I like the original act better because it is more user friendly.

The Marketing Automation component seems difficult to use. The online version is slow. Syncing is confusing

I'm so glad we found Act again. It makes tracking the progress of enquiries and 'finding' people who wear more than hat very easy.

Pros

I had used Act many years ago and loved it. When it came to us needing CRM, we had tried a couple of free ones that, for us, just didn't work. Act is as good as I remembered it being. We don't currently use it to it's full potential but are loving the way we can customise it to suit our business. We have chosen to pay for the extended tech support and they really are amazing, talking us to support our learning.

Cons

I'm not sure there is anything negative I can say about Act, however, the one thing that 'bugs' me is the way it records emails multiple times if there has been more than one addressee.

I had to make some major changes (users and setup), and my Customer Service Rep was fantastic. Once he started, we got everything resolved pretty quick.

Pros

Unlike Salesforce that becomes a monster that you have to "feed" and becomes the purpose, ACT is a Great Tool!

Cons

Customer Service is great when you get them on the phone, but sometimes it can take a few days. Everything is resolved.

I can identify customers with their companies and vice versa. Also, I can establish different sales goals for each customer and/or companies.

Cons

I have ACT! Premium on my server. There is no app on my phone in order to look up customers or companies.

Pros

I have it for many many years! Its an awesome setup that helps work! I have done it over 25 years . I need it to work successfully and it is! The letters written was though ACT. That's a way to keep track of customer's. I have over 4000 costumer's that I always look at!

Excellent CRM program. I have used since they first came out many years ago and think it is wonderful and their customer service is the best.

Pros

I have been using Act for years and their database is the best. Their Customer Service is excellent and have been helpful through the years. I highly recommend this product! Christine Meny

Cons

I have had problems with the web-based product being able to print out my template that I designed for my clients. I have to use their database that resides on my computer. That is my only complaint. I wish they would fix that problem.

Very good. Been using for 20 years plus. Really like the simplicity of use. Very easy. Couldn’t imagine doing my job without ACT.

Pros

Ease of use. Use everyday for my calling follow up, cold calling. Record keeping phone numbers notes etc. tracking buildings rates , vacancy, list broker contact.

Cons

IT service, trouble understanding techs. Hard to get responses quickly. Don’t like high price increase after using for so many years with no assistance from ACT. Was also told my price did not include IT help after so many years of use without asking for anything.

### "How ACT Helps"

Have been using ACT for over twenty years and cannot operate our business without it. Remember the days before ACT usage, giant rubber band and a huge stack of 3 x 5 cards.

Pros

Ease of use, no issue finding client data and history. Maintains relevant contact data. Allows me to maintain client dialogue.

Cons

Have difficulty updating with new releases and need to spend more time learning latest features. Some confusion trying to print daily work schedule report.

### "Long Time ACT user review"

Have been a longtime user (over 10 years) easy to use and support has been good. I have been able to have them remote into my PC when needed which helps me allot

Pros

Easy to setup use and navigate its intuative Support has been very helpful Ease of use access via mobile devices

Cons

desktop or local version doesn't work with snapdragon processor I am a longtime user and this is my only complaint

Even with more capability than I need, it performs exactly as I hoped. I recommend to others in need of a CRM program.

Pros

I’m a real estate broker and have been using ACT as my CRM since around 1997. Back then, I tried another CRM program, but it just didn’t meet my needs. Over the years, I’ve built and maintained a detailed database with all of my property owners, addresses, and sales across more than 50 subdivisions. I primarily use this system for targeted mailings to generate new listings.

Cons

I used to pay for upgraded U.S.-based support, but I understand that option is no longer available. At times, it can be difficult to understand support staff from overseas, and occasionally they aren’t able to resolve the issue. As a result, I often have to end the call and try again until I reach someone who can help. Unfortunately, this happens quite frequently.
