First The compay which I purchsed it from does not wast my time with a lot of dumb questionaires. Second the Tec. people I have worked with are really great.

Pros

Ease of use. Fast learning curve. It seeems to work all the time. Reliability. The fact the there are not of Time wasting Questionaires. Reasonable Pricing

Cons

Market promotions that offer upgrades in customer support after we purchase it. It's not the cost and another thing in the promotion it was stated that if we paid an upgrade fee we would get domestic support rather than off-shore. So far the off-shore has been terriffic. What 20 something more that copy. I did not like it.

Pros

Simple to use and serves my needs well. Customer support has been very decent for the most part.

Cons

It loses data in Notes & History when exporting to another Act database - big hassle. It seems to cause Outlook to lock up at times and it slows Word down from opening quickly due to the Add-Ins which I would rather not have in Word.

Pros

I used to love it but am now forced to switch to another CRM so I can make a living.

Cons

The support is in India. Those guys don't know "beans from bean soup," to put it mildly. No one in the company takes ownership of any problem. They have limited support hours and long wait times. Plus, they lack knowledge when they do finally answer and put you on hold. And the deal breaker is this: the Hosted version 17 imports only a CSV, and it defaults to importing into Contacts, which does not autopopulate the Linked fields into Companies, thus requiring manual data entry. On the several freelance sites, the need for Act! is almost nil, and many companies are migrating away from Act!. It's a shame to see a formerly good product fade away, and I predict it will disappear within five years.

Pros

Not much. It's a memory hog and a slow product that needs constant support.

Cons

Unless you buy the Gold Support plan, there's no way can you keep this product going. Run for your life. Salesforce is actually cheaper vs the additional cost of the Support Plan and constant issues. This product has probably run its course.

Cons

Not much. It can be a little hard to find all of the features, but they are in there somewhere. Just takes some time.

The support at Sage ACT! has been lacking and frustratingly unhelpful. For the last 15 hours I have been working to sync my Outlook to ACT to transfer email contacts. Should be a simple straight forward process. After following the directions through ACT, I was surprised that the errors I had encountered were not addressed in the walk through. When I reached out to receive support, both through web-chat and phone, I was advised to check multiple web sites to see if my questions could be answered. There was no professionalism and minimal knowledge about the product. I had a basic question that was straightforward. Instead of simply answering the question or directing me to someone who could, I was brushed aside. For a CRM company, it appears like they should upgrade their internal support teams before providing advice to others. I will avoid this system in the future and ensure that people know of ACT!'s failure to act with a helpful and professional manner.

Wow! - Reading over all these reviews from small Companies like mine, and other mid size companies, they seem to all come down to that same conclusions as I. I have been working with Act since day 1 the program was on sale, and the best Version was Act 2000 - which I'm still working with. There needs to be a large window for your client notes, what on earth where they thinking when creating small little windows for your our personal/client notes? I need quick access to my client notes when they call me, to review quickly what we talked about and so on. Support is lacking. I was told "you can always look around the Web for free templates for Version 16". I still work with 2000, and have a 2011 pro version sitting on my desk accumulating dust, and I have till the end of the month to upgrade this version or pay full price. As a small business, I don't have the over head to pay for someone to fix up a template for us at $150 hour. Very disappointed in your product.

Functionality. Once you know how to work it, it is great. Love the ability to send appointments by email.

Cons

Instructions of use. Long to figure out. I had to buy a book to figure out the different ways rbat I can use it.

I have been using it since '08, and my business is now trapped in ACT, because at would require thousands of hours of labor to transfer our data to another program. When I bought the program, I was told that our data could be exported to Excel and then to another program if I ever wanted to switch. Now I am told that only the basic info would export, none of the details. Act has many glitches. For example, when I sync a laptop computer with our server, some times it works, sometimes it doesen't. If it doesen't, the sync server needs to be reset in our server. ACT support says that's a glitch that they can do nothing about. Another thing is that if I increase the text size on my computer to make it more readable, the text won't fit into the fields in ACT. I would think that the fields in ACT would be adjustible in size to fit any standard text, but no. ACT support is impossiby difficult to access and comprehend. Don't make the same mistake I did, avoid ACT!

We have been using ACT in our service business since the mid 1990's, and I have to agree with others here. It gets more complicated and has more inconsistencies than it ever did. All of these take time away from making money. I thought the mobile app with the cloud storage would be helpful. It works sometimes, other times it just keeps loading, making it useless. I don't remember having so many issues with the earlier versions. Since installing 2013, I've been on the phone with support more this past year than all the previous years combined. We were constantly getting locked out of the database. I wish I could go back to one of the earlier versions that worked without issues. We didn't need all the complicated add-ons they did. Just a simple data base program with client history. I don't care for being forced into updating either. Maybe they need to come out with multi-level programs so you have a choice as to how complicated a program you want to purchase.

Pros

I used an old version of ACT! a while ago, it was very basic but did the job, new CRM's have came out since, but I think ACT! is still a great revised piece of software with enough settings for most users.

Cons

Although it has been around for years, it is still missing some of the cloud components, but the company has done a good job to keep it updated and relevant.

The updates that do not make any sense. something that works gets changed during an update and then causes problems

We bought into ACT for the cheap price, and their marketing is great! Wow, if only it worked like they say! Well, since the 2006 version we have been fighting this piece of code. Thousands of hours wasted because the product is simply unstable. It has interesting quirks, like randomly locking us out of our own database. And this takes a call to customer support, where hours and dollars later, the support person unlocks our database (on our local machines via remote) and allows us to use the software again. As a previous software developer, I cannot even imaging developing and marketing a software “feature” like this. And this is one example of hundreds. Bugs, issues, work-arounds - we've spent an enormous amount of time just trying to make the software work, and not hang up. Attention to customer service and support is lacking. Not just once, not simply for a single year, but consistently over the past eight years. Good luck.
