It includes almost any topic you can imagine with tables/charts/illustrations to help understand the topic and use for quick references. I especially find it helpful to use it for my CEUs. Cons The cost is increasing each year which makes it difficult for a small clinic to continue using it. There are also limited interaction checks for supplements which more and more patients are taking these days. I rely on it heavily especially during night shifts when I need fast, evidence-based answers and don’t have immediate backup. It’s helped me manage everything from neutropenic fever to anticoagulation in thrombocytopenia. The visual layout, drug checker, and specialty breadth make it ideal for high pressure situations. While the interface could be more user-friendly, the clinical value is undeniable. It’s an essential part of my workflow and a resource I recommend to every new trainee. Pros 1) The charts and tables are incredibly helpfulthey let me scan key information quickly, whether I’m reviewing cancer staging, antibiotic choices, or treatment algorithms. 2) The drug interaction checker is a lifesaver during night shifts, especially when managing complex patients with renal or hepatic impairment. 3) Mobile access is seamless. I’ve used it during rounds, signouts, and even while walking between units. 4) Content updates are timely, and I’ve noticed guideline changes reflected quickly, which helps me stay clinically current. Cons \-The interface isn’t intuitive for new users. Early on, I found the layout and search results overwhelming and had trouble locating the exact section I needed. Navigation takes practice—even now, I sometimes scroll through multiple headings before finding the most relevant content. It’s expensive without institutional access. It's a valuable tool for me as a learner to keep abreast and improve my knowledge. The material is clear, thorough, and dependable. I am certain I could apply it for clinical work as well as homework. For anyone really interested in medical knowledge and practice, the data given is unquestionably worth it even if the price is a little disadvantage. Pros I am quite grateful for the thorough and trustworthy material. For students, it is an excellent tool for study and gathering current data on many medical subject. I can depend on the data it offers on evidence-based background to help me grasp difficult ideas. Since the search feature is user-friendly, I may soon get what I require for study or projects. Cons One major drawback is that it has to be paid for. I can only get it when connected to my hospital's Wi-Fi network, which might be inconvenient if I require it at home or far from the hospital. Access without any constraints would make it far more valuable if I had access on the run. I would not recommend the app to anyone. Pros Once you manage to get in the program is fine. The trouble is that the access is made so unnecessarily difficult that it requires each time to reset my password. Cons Access to content is made unnecessarily difficult. Password often is not recognized, it locks one out after several attempts, customer service is slow. I use this app occasionally, perhaps every 2-3 months, but EACH time is so difficult that I give up. For a paid service, this gets a zero. Pros I am able to access the most relevant evidence-based medicine there is. For treatments and conditions, I have been treating for years that I'd like to see what is new to that symptom that doesn't fit into a nice neat box. Many of my patients have obscure diseases I have never heard of or conditions I do not treat on a regular basis in primary care. UpToDate allows me to see the relevant details to better care for them. Cons I wish there was a simplified view for the tx and duration of therapy for conditions that could then be expanded if you want to know more. Sometimes it feels like you are wading through a swamp of details to learn that the newest guideline is 5 days instead of 7.
