It provides a starting point with linked publications and is updated frequent by experts in the field. Pros Uptodate provides a lot of information in a condensed format allowing quick reference of disease states, drugs and recommendations for treatment. It can also be used as a starting place to further investigate a topic, particularly for treatment agents. I also appreciate the inclusion of Lexicomp drug monographs and the phone app works great. Cons Uptodate is sometimes viewed as a information clearinghouse or a one stop shop for all things information but this is not the design of the program (and maybe not even a fault of the program itself). Most sections are great but the review process isn't as robust for some topics and may lead readers toward an answer that isn't always the best answer. Review Source BM Bill M. Pros Up ToDate has a broad information base and covers most medical topics relevant to my practice. It is easy to search for disease/treatment I need. Cons The presentation of the information seems dated and needs refreshed. Additionally, the information is parsed into sections which could be combined to make it easier to read. Cons The only con that I have about this is the price can be a little daunting for some. Pros Our providers LOVE this tool! Logins are a breeze for quick lookups, and our providers love that they can obtain CME for their use of the tool throughout the year. The information on there is always current and very detailed. The website itself is very snappy and easy to use. Cons There have not been any issues reported by any staff. It is overwhelmingly highly regarded across the board. Pros What I like most about this app, is as its name refers to, its content is always uptodate. I can always find that it is referencing to the recent findings in the field. Previously I used this app as a medical student and it was a fast and easy way for checking stuff right on my phone. It never ever put me down. Cons I think the only draw back on this app is its price. It is a really expensive app to be honest. However it is definitely worth every penny. Pros UpToDate has been the most useful tool I have had in healthcare. All of the information is accurate, updated, and evidence-based. It is easy to search for any topic. There is information for the healthcare provider as well as information to provide for patients. As a bonus, you earn CME hours for your time on their site. Cons If I had to name one thing, I suppose it would be the price. Although it is definitely worth the money. Also, many employers will provide this for their employees. I like how much vast the knowledge base is and it's a one-stop​ shop for getting updated information. Cons We use UpToDate but don't have our paid access at the moment. We still use it to dive into some topics but the allowed portion of the paper is so small. I can't even tell if the papers are worth purchasing the service because the snippet is tiny. Pros This is just a never ending realm of resources on almost any medical topic relative to active medical practice. I use this daily in the hospital to look up resources and studies relating to my patients. I could not picture learning medicine in this day and age without this resource. A must have! Cons There is a ton of information available through this item, which means you have to filter through a lot to get to the relevant information pertaining to your patients.
