We create random secure passwords generated by 1Password and are not worried about a data breach compromising everything. Password sharing is extremely important for admins and is made safe and secure through 1Password. Pros This software allows all of our users to securely create, store, and share passwords in a convenient and responsible way. Cons For less tech savvy users, this software can be difficult to navigate at times. Some users may have difficulty storing their secret phrase that opens their personal vaults. The way the app allows multiple ways to organize passwords (tagging, vaults, search, categories, and now archive!) is such a joy and it actually makes password management fun for me. My history with the app has been a little confusing because of the way they've done versioning, but I'm willing to overlook that because of all the amazing features. They also actually write real release notes when they push an update through the app store, which is such a breath of fresh air. I've emailed their customer support multiple times and they've always been extremely helpful. I like the 1Password community, and the fact that 1Password employees hop on there and help people out. I've used LastPass for about a year or two, and I've trialed Dashlane, Bitwarden, and a bunch of others. I am a 1Password user 100% - the others frankly don't even come close. Pros The design, the organizational features, and the number of field options for each password entry. Cons The complexity of the 1Password App, 1Password browser extensions, 1Password X, 1Password 7, etc. - the versioning seems overly complex and a bit hard to understand. The history of it when they moved from a one time cost to monthly was a bit rough as well. Switched from [LastPass](https://www.capterra.com/p/151988/LastPass/) Because LastPass is scammy. I've used it for a couple years, and love how easy it is. Pros The most impactful for me is being able to unlock it with my fingerprint on my mac, or with FaceID on my iPhone. Being able to have both a professional account and a personal account seamlessly integrated is key for me. Cons Sometimes the chrome extension doesn't work, but it usually just means I need to update chrome, or restart my computer. It helps that me new org also uses 1password. Encryption, blocking access with a password and with a fingerprint, help in generating codes of varying length and complexity of our passwords. It's all there. What's more? Easy backup and synchronization with popular clouds. Security, convenience and a multiplatform tool that I can heartily recommend to everyone. Pros I've been using 1password only for a week but I love it already. I had no idea how comfortable it is to manage your passwords like this, not to mention security (It was not really safe for me, since i had like 2-3 passwords to all pages before). This software remembers and automatically enters my passwords to web sites and applications on all devices - the only thing I need to worry about is creating and remembering one solid, main password. What's even better - I don't even need this password in the mobile app - my fingerprint lines are enough. This program is able to operate the password generator perfectly, adapting them to the requirements of websites. Apart from the fact that it is convenient, 1password is extremely safe. It also has the ability to audit our secret data. The program checks how long ago I changed my password. Information about the security breach is also monitored, so that I will be able to keep up to date in case my login parameters have leaked and whether they should be updated. What is important, the program also offers a lot of tools that further increase security, including the function of analyzing the strength of the password and the website to which Ilog in (in terms of potential gaps).This software can also, for example, let the user know that a defect has been detected on the site he is logging into, and that it is recommended to change the password. Cons Not gonna lie, 1password is quite expensive compared to other password managers. Nevertheless, I think that it is worth paying the price for comfort and safety. Review Source Victoria B. Pros 1Password is hugely valuable for managing logins, users, and passwords for all of the tools our remote team uses and shares. It functions as a single spot to get access to whatever account for whatever product you may need that day. It also is incredibly useful for saving different types of user accounts for testing different experiences within our product. Cons It can be a little bit hard to find things once you start having lots of different vaults and logins. This is likely more of an issue of a scale though rather than 1Password's fault. September 26, 2018 5.0 I briefly tried Lastpass and quickly switched back to 1Password for my team at work. Put simply, it's just more reliable. I no longer have to worry bout memorizing passwords or password security. I can make my passwords long and complex (and therefore more difficult to hack). Great product with great Apple integration. Pros It has from the very beginning integrated very well with my Mac products. I can seamlessly switch between my Mac and iPhone and access my passwords. The FaceID compatibility is a nice touch. I can store secure notes, passwords for all my websites, combinations to locks, credit cards numbers, etc. This information is all stored LOCALLY, which is very important to me. My vault is local only to my machines and isn't stored in the cloud where it might be more vulnerable to hacking. The password generator is a nice feature. Cons It would be nice if the password generator was a little easier to use. I can't tell you how many times I've updated a password using the generator and then somehow lost the new password (and 1Password didn't save the old one). The fill and click feature is also a little unreliable. Sometimes the forms will fill in automatically and then click to the next page. Sometimes they won't and will have to be filled in twice. Cons I don't like that even with browser integrations, sometimes it won't autofill for you and you have to manually click on the extension. " September 29, 2020 5.0 I've been very pleased. They continue to innovate and I rely on their product every day. Now that I've upgraded to the latest Mac OS and I have the family version I can easily keep all of my info up to date easily on all of my devices and share logins with my family when needed. I'm VERY happy. Pros I started using this tool over 10 years ago. At the time I was making a transition from Windows to the Mac. I had already been using a password manager for a long time and 1Password seemed to be the best option for the Mac. Over the years I continued to use the standalone plugin on my single computer. I have recently transitioned to the option that keeps all my devices synced and I can't imagine ever going back. Cons There were times when I had to get various versions to remain compatible with certain OS changes. Some of the newer versions of the software were not running on older Mac OS versions. In addition to that, some of these passwords need to be shared amongst teaaam members. 1passwords allows us to do that easily and securely. Pros In an age where passwords get compromised every other day, it is quite difficult to keep everything secure while remembering all the different passwords. 1Passwords is exactly that, reduces the passwords you need to remember to just one. You add all you passwords and sensitive information to 1Password, while generating very secure passwords then using browser extensions and mobile phone apps, you can login at the click of a button. I like: - the simplicity of the user experience - the security and peaaace of mind - tells you if your password has been compromised or if you're reusing it - the ability to remember all sorts of sensitive information like files and credit card details - the availability on all platforms Cons The one thing that is both a pro and a con is the login process. You need to enter your email address, a 20+ alphanumeric secret key and your master password. To be fair, 1Password has done everything to ensure you can get all these details as faast as possible. By only having to remember one (definitely strong) password, you no longer have to worry about reusing the same password or keeping a paper list next to your desk of all your passwords. With everything these days requiring a login, 1Password makes it easy, convenient and secure to create and store unique logins for all your online and offline accounts. You can store more than just passwords too, securely store your credit cards, passport, driver's license, bank account information as well as secure notes with whatever content you want. They make it super easy and simple to generate new passwords and logins, plus it can monitor and alert you to compromised logins as well as when 2FA is available. Cons So far, I haven't found anything that I don't like. Any issues I've come across, their support quickly provided a solution. Pros Pros: - 1 password, 1 account but different vaults to keep your passwords organized/separate - Ability to share vaults, and thus decide what passwords should be shared with your team and what are personal, for only the administrative team, etc. - Saves. You. Time. Holy moly you do not have to go through re-setting passwords because you simply don't have to remember a million - Keeps you secure - I trust this product - One of the less obvious pros: you know when you have to sign up for an account with a new platform and they need you to create a password with 20 characters, 1 special character, 2 spaces, 1 number, and it must contain French (okay, I'm exaggerating, but you get the picture) - 1Password will do that for you, and remember the unique and secure password it created so you don't have to. Cons Cons: - The learning curve is steep. As much as I would like to, it's not software I would get my mom using just for the sake of it - it can be confusing at first - It's hard to shop around for password-management software. I can't think of using any other password manager app. I know there has been quite a competition lately and I'm sure the competitors are doing their best too, but I believe they are far away from what 1Password has been offering to its users for years. Pros I really like: 1. Continuous updates for security improvements, bug fixes, and new features launched 2. Two-factor authentication is automatically detected for websites that offer it and you can generate codes directly within 1password which is absolutely brilliant. 3. Support with iPhone password manager is top-notch and saves a ton of time. 4. UI and UX are extremely easy to use. 5. Cross-platform support is really good. Cons Their Google Chrome extension that is called 1Password X doesn't make sense to me. At times, it feels brilliant but most of the times I don't feel the purpose of this app so I simply use the App for Mac instead of the browser. I use the mobile version, the desktop version, and the browser version. It has never been easier to keep track of my passwords and ensure that they are unique and complex. Pros This password tool easily allows for switching to complex, random, and unique passwords from the traditional approach of using the same easy-to-remember password everywhere. It also makes it simple to retrieve and populate password fields using browser extensions and sharing entire password libraries with other users is a breeze. It will also warn you when a password has been reused on other sites and when it has been compromised and appears on the web in rainbow tables for use by hackers. Cons I'm not a big fan of subscription-based products. Why can't I just purchase the software once and stick with that version until I decide it's time to upgrade? That is the way 1Password used to work, but now they've gone to a subscription model, along with everyone else. Pros Password managers are probably one of the most useful things out there. Plenty of people use free ones, provided by Google, Apple, etc. However, what sets 1Password apart from the free services is their encryption plus the fact that the software title speaks true of what it says: YOU ONLY NEED 1 PASSWORD. 1Password creates unique passwords for you for each individual website or application, and you login using the single password that you set up, which then uses the password per website/app to log you in. It's secure, useful, and worth the money. Cons Paying for a password manager isn't the most appealing, but their prices are fair. I find the software a delight to use, and they release new features over the years that are genuinely useful. This is one example, but their implementation of time-based one-time passwords (TOTP) is wonderful. I feel like you really need to try the product out to understand the little things that make 1Password such a pleasure to use day in and day out. Cons I don't love their change in how they handle file attachments ("Documents") compared to previous versions. Reason for choosing 1Password I've been a home/personal customer of 1Password for 10+ years now. For the past 5 years I've had to use LastPass at work, and I can't believe how much worse it is. My experience comes from using them on Apple platforms, so I can't speak to how they compare on other platforms. Review Source RC Russell C. Being in IT I cannot describe the number of passwords I have to keep track of or how often I have to change them so 1Password keeps me working without losing my mind! Following good password security doesn't take much time with software like 1Password - most of the time investment is in the initial setup. After this login speed doesn't really take much longer than normal when running on your normal personal computer. The tradeoff for this is to create a much more secure computing environment for whatever services you tend to use. Cons 1Password offers an online storage option. This has convenience. However it does provide vulnerability. The most secure passwords should be stored offline - but for an average user whos' account to secure doesn't contain critical sensitive passwords this is 'good enough' security.
