### "I switched to MyTaxPrep Office and can't wait to switch back to Drake"

Love it! I made the terrible decision to switch to MyTaxPrepOffice and now really appreciate the accuracy of Drake. I will definitely be switching back!

Pros

It is accurate! I don't have to check every number to make sure that the calculations are correct and that they flow to the right place.

Cons

I wish it had a live form view. I switched to MyTaxPrepOffice and it is horribly inaccurate (I will be switching back) but it has a great live form view which allows me to watch the form fill out of my second monitor as I input the data.

I switched to MyTaxPrepOffice which was a terrible mistake and will be switching back!

not great. The lack of communication made me unaware of returns that were not filed and it cost me hundred in penalties. When I called customer service the supervisor was extremely rude, antagonizing, impatient, and refused to take any responsibility for the errors.

Pros

It is User Friendly and customer service is available with little or no hold time.

Cons

Communication with e-filing. The acknowledgments can be inaccurate or misleading which leads to confusion on the returns actually being filed. this caused some of the returns to be late and such clients incurred penalties which we had to reimburse them for.

### "This product is terrible - DO NOT BUY"

This is a terrible product. Preparing returns takes a lot longer with Drake than it did with Pro Series.

Pros

The customer service people speak english.

Cons

I think I could do returns more effectively with an excel workbook. This software is very difficult to use and unable to handle complex business returns. In pro-series when you receive an error message Pro Series provide a link to the issue. Drake simply says "error on schedule..." Drake does not explain the error and at times Drake references a form that is not even available on the Drake software. Additionally, when you convert Pro Series accounts to Drake, Drake does not transfer all of the information so you have to review the forms to determine if the correct data was transferred. You might as well reenter all of the data if you have to go in and fix it. The sales person pulled a bait and switch telling me that payroll products were included for a flat fee and then charged me for the payroll product and told me she made a mistake. When I make a mistake I acknowledge it and take care of the issue on my dime. Not Drake, they put it on the client. Drake also has a no refund policy after December 31. I do not know any tax preparers that would be using their 2019 tax preparation software before 12/31/2019. I suppose if I made such a poor product I would also limit the ability for customers to return it. Honestly if I wasn't so busy I would file suit for the refund of the price just because it infuriates me to be scammed like this. Maybe this summer my schedule will open up and I will do so.

Cost. My mistake because you truly get what you pay for with Drake.

Drake is the best option when you’re trying to be the Elma secure in your tax practice when I attended an IRS conference. This is the only one that they suggested as all the other Tax software had breaches.

Pros

what I like most about Drake and he does everything and anything you don’t have to have different software or different cloudbase options compared to other sites. It’s kind of like a one stop shop.

Cons

What I dislike about Drake the most is the fee are the cost

Pros

Its price is unbeatable. At this pricing point, it's impossible to find a comparable product.

Cons

UI is not particularly user-friendly. It appears to be a product from 1990.

This is my first year with Drake and it is very functional for the cost. Drake is constantly improving and listens to their clients.

Pros

Drake has myriad training avenues and has provided for solid tax planning opportunities.

Cons

Some of the functionality is clunky. There are fields that could auto-populate from demographics that do not. This requires repeat entries.

Our accounting office has used Drake for years and can't say enough good things about it for tax preparation. They have listened and added more features here and there. Their customer service is personal and professional.

Pros

Drake has software that is accurate with the tax forms and tax changes. It leads you to ask more questions and be very detailed and accurate with your clients.

Cons

I use another software program for my payables and receivables, so I have not used that feature on Drake. We also use a different one for payroll calculation for clients.

### "Can't Beat The Price & Support"

Overall, I like Drake Tax so far. There is a learning curve as the system is complex and takes time to adjust to. They provide practice returns to process in order to get use to the system before filing actual returns for clients. Their support team is attentive and you will typically receive a response when contacting them, within a day or so. Most of all, their price is extremely affordable compared to other professional tax softwares out there (literally, about 1/3 the cost of other well-known programs!). This is my first tax season with Drake, so I cannot say too much yet but after going through many practice returns, I am certainly starting to get the hang of it, but I know that if I need help, they are only a call or email away!

Pros

The price is unbeatable, the customer support is very attentive and responsive, software gives you a message page with potential errors and solutions prior to filing.

Cons

To a first time user of the software, it can seem extremely complex. Many options and can take time to learn navigation. Does not support Mac (I had to download specific software to run windows software on my Mac in order to use Drake.

Due to what was offered and at an extremely affordable price. I received some recommendations and although Drake is a bit harder to adjust to and not as user-friendly as others, for the price, it is worth it to learn how to use it.

Awful experience and terrible software.

Pros

Not much good to say about Drake. They are lower price, but that low price reflects their low quality and lack of care.

Cons

Awful customer service. I've spoke to customer service about 5 times total and every single time, I am faced with an incompetent rep and they are never able to help me. You can't reach higher ups either because they don't want responsibility. I don't feel like they care about customers and will see this with the declining number of users over the next while. They are going downhill and fast from reviews I've read over the last couple years. Not many people happy with the product recently.

Cons

When a file is NOT closed, the timer should shut down after five minutes. And why are you not open on Sunday?

Drake has outstanding customer service -always has. I like that when you call you get a live person and not voice prompts. If someone is thinking about purchasing a tax software program, you need to seriously consider Drake.

Pros

I have used this software for over 12 years. A few years ago, I opened my own practice and Drake was by far the least expensive program out there. Since I had already been using the software, the transition to my own company was easy. I didn't have to worry about the learning curve of knowing the software and it was easy to setup and start by business.

Cons

I opted to include Drake Accounting in my package, but feel that the Accounting program isn't as easy to accommodate as the tax program is. But I have still used it for the w-2 and 1099 and it seems to get what I need done.

In general, Drake has been great. 2021 had a few issues, but 2022 is a nightmare to use. I'm literally afraid to transmit returns EVERY SINGLE DAY, because EVERY SINGLE DAY I catch something that the software has broken.

Pros

Drake continues to have an easy to use interface and low system stress, allowing for computers that don't break budgets.

Cons

This is the buggiest mess ever. Forms disappear, constant calculation loops, and entire missing tax returns. I have never considered switching away from Drake until now. If this is the future, I'm going somewhere else.

Switching to drake software was a pretty easy switch. I quickly learned the software.

Pros

Drake is very straightforward compared to other tax softwares I have used. The best part is that if I ever have an issue or question their customer service responds right away!

Cons

Overall this software is great. When I do have problems the company helps very quickly. Their knowledge base is really helpful too.

I wanted to lower my costs so I switched from the CS professional suite. The first year was extremely painful to change, and coming into my second year, I can't file returns because their product is not complete, and all the support team can offer is "that they are doing the best they can."

Pros

It is cheap. Efile tracking is simple. The data entry is relatively straight forward.

Cons

The support is terrible. It is hit or miss that you are going to get someone that actually can help you resolve your problem. For the 2018 tax season, as of mid-February there were still state forms "under development." Other software companies are able to file state and federal both, while Drake is delayed and still developing its product. State apportionment is a HUGE pain.

Drake tax for its value was one of the easiest tax softwares to navigate. It heightened efficiency and is great all around.

Pros

The software itself is very easy to follow along with a tax return. Like things are located on each tab which allows for high efficiency. If there are any questions the customer support is very very helpful.

Good experience. Not great, but not too bad after all.

Pros

The software isn't hard to use, the user-interface looks fancy, and the customer support is great and responsive.

Cons

The lack of support for external gadgets like scanners. in addition to that , it lacks remote access possibilities like remote-signatures, and mobile apps that taxpayers can use to submit their data to the tax-preparers without sending them any physical copies. The user interface isn't hard, however it needs to be simplified a little.

Pros

The customer service and ease of use of software. The customer service department is awesome and you do not have to wait more than 2 minutes to speak with an agent.

Cons

Secure File Pro-had an oversight with payment. When I did pay, it created a new portal that wrote over my existing portal. I lost 7 years of tax docs for client who uploaded directly in the portal.It would have been helpful if there was astern that this could occur before submitting payment.

Pros

I left my company to start my own tax practice and decided on Drake because of the what it could do for the cost. I was previously using UltraTax which is a great software but compared to price this made sense. It does everything I need it to but at a fraction of the cost. It's super easy to set up. UltraTax was better hands down with the exception of the tax projection in Drake. Drake's tax projection is better than UltraTax for individuals. Also, Drake's customer support is better in that I could get through to someone during tax season very quickly. I don't plan on switching tax software anytime in the near future.

Cons

If filing a business in multiple states and then making sure the income on the personal is correctly allocated to each state was a pain. It's not to bad with a couple states but 5+ states plan on spending extra time just getting the software to do what you need it to do.

My overall experience was ok, Drake Tax gets the job gone accurately.

Pros

The ease of use during the first time. I like how easy it is to check clients refund status.

Cons

Sometimes the customer service wait can be lengthy. Check printing process can also run a lot smoother. Clients will have acknowledgement what we would have there refund before the software updated us.
