Pros
I LOVE the ease of using carestack. The features that I enjoy the most are operational reporting and now Enterprise.
The team you have that is so willing to listen and help improve this software to make the end user experience better and better.
They are very client-centric. I feel like the CareStack team that I personally work with is always striving to better the quality of service as well as ease the workload of in person colleagues.
Having the ability to have all of the different modules necessary in one cloud based platform is great. The best part of CareStack is the support team behind it.
Cons
Sometimes there are too many ways to do the same thing. This can make the initial onboarding a bit more confusing.
Setup and their patient portal is difficult to get into.
I am struggling to provide the same service to my employer as I was before onboarding CareStack.
There’s seriously not anything that I don’t like.

"Our All-in-one PMS started us up!"
Overall: The platform is really an all-in-one option and saves our office time and money by requiring fewer hardware elements, and fewer software integrations.
Pros: Has all the features we need + the support to help when we need. Also: a true interest in improving the product with regular updates that don’t break the software.
Cons: All software is imperfect and has a learning curve. The marketing/communications tools are basic, but improving. Sometimes there are too many ways to do the same thing. This can make the initial onboarding a bit more confusing.
"A Huge Improvement from Eaglesoft or Dentrix"
Overall: The CSM team after implementation, including our lead manager Abhishek, has made up for all for any roadblocks we may have had during the initial transition period from our old practice management software. The lead you through how to properly access your workflows and reporting to make sure you're taking advantage of all the new features of Carestack, which continue to expand. I've been impressed with the level of detail and care that the Customer Success team has shown to us on all of our calls and email correspondence.
Pros: This is clearly a software made by a software company, not a dental supply company. They have the resources and team members to make updates and changes that are relevant, and you can even request changes with their development team.
Cons: The switch from our previous management software was very time consuming for a private practice. Their sales team failed to mention that we have to convert over all the files for patient forms, note templates, etc. which we are still completing months later. Other online form providers have done this for us within implementation. This is a really big problem for trying to use all the features of CS, but not having it personalized with your documents unless you devote a lot of time. Note: we are an office with a multitude of very in depth forms, if you only have one set of forms for your patients, for example, this may not be as big of an issue.
"Carestack Review"
Overall: It has been a long process for sure. I would not do it again if I had a choice.
Pros: If I have an issue, they try every way possible to fix it immediately.
Cons: Very difficult to understand in the beginning. Too many steps to do one thing.
"Very PLEASED with CareStack! Highly recommend"
Overall: We are happy and their customer support is GREAT!!
Pros: Our office switched to CareStack in Dec 2023. So far we are very pleased and its pretty intuitive. I have used many PMS in my 30+ years and this system has it all!
Cons: When we switched over to CareStack our old software did not merge over. Not Carestack's fault. We were using a no name brand system :(
"Clinical Operations Manager"
Overall: As will all new software, I found there to be a learning curve. However, with the assistance of the training team and the support team it has gone very smoothly.
Pros: I love all of the different report options. The information available on the reports is fantastic. I also love the availability of your support, the ease of which contacting support and receiving answers to our questions is outstanding.
Cons: The only negative I have found is the inability to print from the TimeSheet screen.
"Great! Would Recommended"
Overall: Great! Would definitely recommend it to anyone considering a cloud based software.
Pros: It's cloud based and has routine updates.
Cons: Same issue with all digital software: It's easier to flip through paper to get a overview of a patient, but it takes more time to click on each note. Maybe with AI, there will be a summary feature down the road.
"Great experience"
Overall: The training staff was amazing. Great onboarding with staff getting back to us quickly.
Pros: It has a lot of functions that can be curtailed to your needs
Cons: Sometimes there is so much information it can be overwhelming. I would like to see an icon to go directly to clinical notes from the open screen versus having to open the chart then click on the notes. Added step that could be eliminated. Would also like to see dictation into the notes
"Satisfied CareStack customer"
Pros: I like the ability to truly customize the software to work for our pediatric dental office, without having to create a bunch of modifications and work arounds.
Cons: It's still geared for general practices, not pediatric offices, but I have been pleased with CareStack's responsiveness to considering improvements for practices that operate like ours.
"New Carestack user"
Overall: I appreciated the training, but there is so much information and so many ways to get reports that it is overwhelming and confusing and I know my staff still feels confused.
Pros: It is ledger based vs our old system and some of the clinical charting is easier to navigate.
Cons: Complicated to learn the reporting and front office.
"Would Recommend 10/10"
Overall: I have had a great experience with CareStack. Even when we run into any hiccups they are quick to help and the streamlined interface is easy to use even when they have updates it is quick to get used to. The team and customer care is quick, friendly and efficient. I have no issues. Would recommend 10/10
Pros: The ease of use and quick customer care responses when we have issues. We also utilize a lot of their team help and it has been a game changer.
Cons: CareStack is the only Dental software I have personally used ever and for the last 5 years. I have not had any issues .
"More than meets the eye!"
Pros: The Team and how it over sees the day to day actions.
Cons: The Insurance features are over complicated.
"Great Cloud based solution"
Overall: So far CareStack's customer support has been great! Very responsive and knowledgeable.
Pros: Love that it is an all-inclusive solution to the multiple applications our office was using for a modern Endodontics office. I no longer have to pay separately for patient engagement and digital forms or run a separate 3 party electronic claims solution.
Cons: I was a huge learning curve from the legacy software we were moving away from and I would like to see more professional referral letters.
"Softdent to Carestack- WE NEVER LOOKED BACK "
Overall: My overall experience has been great! I have to give so much credit to [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN]. SHE NEEDS TO BE GIVEN A HIGHER POSITION and a bonus for that matter. She was the most kind, helpful, positive representative that I HAVE EVER EVER MET. She not only helped with anything she could and if she couldn't she had someone else from other software company that we were changing from and installing X-rays systems she went ABOVE AND BEYOND for us and STILL DOES. I can ask her something at any time and she will always get back to me and my team. NO ONE HAS HELPED AS MUCH AS HER.. she should be the trainer for all new account managers. She has made the carestack experience for sure so easy and was always very calming when dealing with me I can be a bit of a much.
Pros: Carestack is very FAST! I start with that because for years I stared at a spinning wheel everytime I needed to open a new section in softdent. We like carestack because its cloudbase and we can connect from anywhere even during a power outage from our phones. ( yes, this already happened) THE CLAIM Section is the best I feel so ontop of claims and the information you get when its rejected and or denied and or missing information. The applications are very helpful and user friendly. We have been in love with our curb side check- in which has been an amazing new feature with all the pandemic happening right now. The reports are easy to read and make it super easy to get information very fast and efficient.
Cons: If I am being honest I TRULY wish it was easier to change procedure codes once they have been completed and entered by clinical staff and then that evening or next day after they check the Daily Journal for the day and notice something is incorrect. If I wanted to change a provider if its incorrect or take a price out if the doctor changes it last min and he doesnt want a charge. Its not very user friendly and it still makes my head hurt when I have to change something.
"Progress not Perfection"
Overall: I’m very new to the dental industry. As a patient care coordinator with an education background…I find that CareStack promotes feedback/criticism. They allow for room to grow and develop. The interactions with CareStack employees has been top notch! They are very client-centric. I feel like the CareStack team that I personally work with is always striving to better the quality of service as well as ease the workload of in person colleagues. They allow front desk staff to work smarter not harder! I can appreciate that they are always improving. Progress not perfection.
Pros: CareStack team is constantly learning from criticism and feedback. They take what the customer is asking for and implements it as quickly as possible. Continuous improvement/updates to proved the customer with tailored care for their unique practice.
Cons: CareStack’s downfall will be the reliance on technology functionality. If our WiFi is down - that leaves us stranded in many areas (phones, appts, access to info). I would like to be able to do more with the system from my iPhone. Compatibility with various interfaces would be a huge improvement.
"CareStack is AWESOME!"
Overall: It was abit rocky to start, but it has gotten better and better eveery year. Many thanks for your willingness to hep and alow us to achieve our goals using the software.
Pros: The team you have that is so willing to listen and help improve this software to make the end user experience better and better. Thank you!
Cons: Sometimes it takes a while to see a request actually be incorporated and developed.
"Carestack Review "
Pros: Easy learning and carestack university
Cons: the set up of ortho cases
"Best Software "
Overall: Enjoyed working with this program over all other I have worked with.
Pros: How intuitive the program is and the ease if online support.
Cons: Training videos dont seem to go over as much as they should on certain areas.
"Highly Recommend"
Pros: Being able reduce the number of additional software needed. Gaining the ability to online schedule and have patient portal.
Cons: So robust it was a little intimidating but the support and traing resolved this.
"User friendly and Easy to use!"
Overall: Overall, it’s been pretty positive! There have been a few things that confused me or that I didn’t understand, but the Support team has been very helpful in answering my questions.
Pros: As an administrator, Carestack is so much easier to look at and use than other products I’ve used. It’s clean and modern and was very easy for me to pick up despite never having used it before. I love all the analytics and reports, and how easy it is to get from one section of a patient’s account to another.
Cons: I am a little disappointed that I can’t easily see appointment changes within the appointment. Perhaps this is just a feature I haven’t discovered, but in Dentrix I could see a list of modifications to the appointment, like if an appointment had been moved from a different column or time. The history of status changes is important, but also once an appointment is cancelled, I lose access to that history it seems unless it saved to the Memo.
"5 Stars for Carestack! "
Overall: Overall an amazing experience using Carestack didn't take me long at all to learn how to use.
Pros: Easily learnable with plenty of resources to guide you.
Cons: So far nothing Carestack has been great for me and my team.
"Carestack can handle nearly everything top to bottom"
Pros: They can do nearly everything so you don't have to use third party softwares.
Cons: The learning curve was large and hard to understand in the beginning.
"New to CareStack"
Overall: I overall really like CareStack for ease of use. Having many years in dental experience and many platforms used, I am a huge fan with the overall use in all areas.
Pros: Ease of use in all areas compared to other
Cons: The ledger isn’t my favorite due to weird calculations.
"Carestack has been a game changer for my dental office."
Overall: A great experience with amazing support. When we started we had a team to help us with questions on how to properly use the software and set it up. Even after training we could ask questions any time. Following the set up and training period we had coaching session. These sessions helped us learn how to use the software and reports to do better business. Since those sessions have ended, we have never had an issue getting support when there is an issue or concern with the software.
Pros: The system is user friendly and does not take hours of training. Patient enjoy the patient portal and the kiosk check in option. Carestack allows us to have online booking options, digital forms and streamlines the entire process within the office. Billing is easier and collecting payments from patient with the text to pay option has been a game changer. Our phone system is connected to Carestack and when patients call or text we easily can pull up there chart to properly assist them. I am able to log in on my phone, tablet and computer anywhere and at any time. My favorite feature is absolutely the teledentistry options in the system. You can schedule the patient directly on the appointment book and do the appointment in the software. This allows ease to access patient records and take notes during the appointment. There are no extra clicks or extra windows.
Cons: Would like the option to send secure messages through system
"Bookkeeper's nightmare"
Overall: I am struggling to provide the same service to my employer as I was before onboarding CareStack. CareStack costs about three times as much as our previous service, but it has about a third of the reporting capabilities. My primary task with the software is to track income based on multiple providers at multiple practice locations, and it takes about an extra 10-15 hours per week to manually extrapolate the data which had been accessible at the click of a button with previous softwares. Based on the way the reports are designed, I don't believe the engineers even know the difference between production and collection, as those terms pertain to a medical/dental practice. I've had a support ticket in for seven months, and whenever I check in to see if there's any progress (about once a month), I'm told to be patient, and then asked what the problem was again. You know that feeling you get when someone’s six-year-old answers the phone and says they’ll remember your message?
Pros: The layout is intuitive. It's easy to learn and understand how things are supposed to work. Multiple locations are able to share data seamlessly.
Cons: Collections reporting is severely insufficient. Customer support seems to exist only to deflect and forget.
