It gives the user a fast overview of all the services that are active. Automated scans for viruses saved my computer a few times from some trojans and spyware I obviously accidentally downloaded without my consent. AVG stops that in seconds and no virus will ever pass if you have this thing up and running on your PC. Every time I log into e-banking I do it from a special sandbox browser which is additionally secured from any hacker attacks making my money and accounts secure Cons Thing is that if you turn on all the amazing features that AVG Internet Security is offering your computer will use a little more RAM memory but nowadays 4GB of RAM is standard and it isn't even noticeable in modern computers. I tried installing this on my very old 10-year computer and it performed very badly. It removes bloatware and adware causing performance issues. - The installation of the software is quick and can be customized according to one's needs. Cons \- The free version does not include advance features such as Firewall support, preventing people watching through webcam, antivirus for cellphones. - Often popups are shown recommending in buying other AVG products which can be annoying at times. - It is highly recommended to have a computer with good hardware configuration before installing this software. February 7, 2018 2.0 It supposedly protects my phone and computer from threats, but it seems not to be a very good antivirus for the computer, so I removed it a long time ago. On my mobile phone I still keep it on, but I blame it for deleting my important photos by recommending me to "clear space" and delete them. Pros AVG is one of the best known and totally free antivirus software that is out there. Easy to use, both for computer and mobile devices. Cons It always monitors my phone and offers to delete things for me or do SOMETHING (anything) in the hope of getting me to upgrade to pro version, and when I did that, it deleted some very precious photographs on my phone and it is now impossible to recover those photos again. So I blame AVG for losing my photos and it also doesn't have a good detection rate for malware on the computer, and possibly the phone as well. Be careful when you use AVG. Pros AVG is accessible and easy to install. Once installed, it's easy to navigate and set your policies and exceptions. The user interface is easy to understand, and it's easy to find what you're looking for. Cons We support over 1500 devices, and virus removal is one of our services. Clients with AVG are much more prone to viruses. Just doing a search through our help tickets for viruses, I can see that a large number were running AVG. Compared to something like Bit Defender or Kaspersky, which has a pretty low rate on infection. I don't trust AVG to protect against ransomware, and always advise against it. However it's effectiveness has been slightly decreased and started to perform only mediocre in detecting malware. However the current UI is really simple to use and AVG offers enough modules to protect the computer. It includes parent filters, safe search for preventing malware from internet and a decent detection system based on heuristic methods. I would recommend normal users to go for it as the value you are getting for your hard earned money is matched. I used it mostly for my personal computers when I don't want to purchase an expensive software. I haven't had any issues and I can rely that I'm protected. This software doesn't come with so many annoying notices or ads like other programs do in this category. Pros For years I used the free personal edition, even though it had some shortcomings, but, I could never complain about it, now, the paid Business Edition it's even better, with more heuristic features, making it one of the best in the market. Cons Unfortunately, the free version is doing the same as many apps, using a lot of ads to support themself, luckily the Business Edition has better support and it's ads-free, noticed in recent updates is using more resources than before, hope this doesn't become a trend.
