Cons In some cases AVG can't help with popup or phishing links. I had some issues with some adware which were not properly solved by AVG Internet Security. Otherwise it seemed quite reliable. Cons About the only thing that I do not like is that they constantly hammer you with pop up ads for their additional services. I am on a paid premium subscription and find this to be very unprofessional and you can't turn them off. Also, they are trying to move in on MalwareBytes territory and their update created a conflict with my paid version of MalwareBytes. Having a software package that offers features such as firewall and real-time protection allows us to focus more on our work and less on internet security issues. Pros The AVG Internet Security software is used on all of our computers in the office and overall we have found it to be a very effective program to keep our computers safe and enjoy a high level of protection. AVG offers good firewall protection and also real-time protection which makes using the internet more safe and secure. I would also add that is fairly easy to set up on a new computer and does not require an IT person to install . Also, AVG does not seem to have a negative effect on any our computer's performance as a result of having it installed which is a plus. Cons Overall it's a great product but some of the quirks would be receiving alerts that are not always accurate in between scans and this can cause unnecessary concern. The interface itself leaves a lot to be desired. It is confusing and not intuitive at all. You just have to click around until you finally find what you are looking for. The paid version of AVG is more improved than the free version. New user can install it without any problem because AVG installation is user friendly. We can set the update option according to our choice. Cons However, there are some small problems. This software slowed down my computer more than other antivirus software and its setting options are a little bit complicated. AVG detects some ".exe" files asvirus and we can’t avoid the deletion of such files. Considering that you should really only install a single antivirus software so your computer can still function, I would not recommend AVG being the sole antivirus software. Pros It finds security threats on my computer such as malware, adware, and viruses. It's free and when you're in a pinch and feel like you may have a virus, it's good to run to get rid of whatever virus/malware you can. Cons I have noticed considerable slowdowns from my computer once AVG is installed. And it doesn't seem to update their new viruses lists fast enough. OR it doesn't catch quite a few of the threats. AVG, by contrast, has a minimal, smart ui that is easy to understand and operate. It's also a slim program that doesn't slow down your computer or force constant pop-ups on you. It feels like it does enough without being overbearing, which is honestly the most I want from an internet security package. Cons The software gets pretty pricey compared to some of the competitors, and the free version only offers basic protection. That's pretty much the most I can say about it, in the negative.
