This has never happened over the last 5 years and only started happening this year as soon as we resubscribed for another 12 months even though our level of usage hasn't changed. They got greedy and they will hold you hostage and force you to purchase more licences otherwise they will refuse to unlock your account. It's been extremely disruptive to our business. We are looking for alternatives as Ahrefs keep have become extremely unreliable and unethical. Pros Insightful data and they used to be easy to deal with. Pros Being an individual who runs a couple websites for my company, I am not someone who is interested in paying the hundreds of $$/month for access to the unlimited access agency-level tools that many SEO companies offer; however Ahrefs provides numerous tools and services for free - making it the best option for someone like myself who wants to boost their SEO without paying ridiculous amounts of money. Ahrefs offers a quality overview of your websites SEO & ranking factors, helping you find & address issues - such as 404 errors (due to old bad links), giving a list of external backlinks & referring domains and their domain authority/page authority, and showing lists of top pages & organic keywords - all for free. To top it off, they also send me a free monthly report listing new/lost backlinks and important SEO notices about my account - again, all for free, when competing products lock all these features behind a paywall. Obviously, the free tier has limits to what you can access, but overall Ahrefs helps me manage my companies SEO without spending thousands of dollars a year on unneeded tools & features. Cons Ahrefs can be confusing to learn & use if you are not used to SEO terminology, and they do little to help address this. However this is not a huge issue, as Ahrefs is a professional platform made for SEO experts; so a learning curve for people new to this world is not a huge issue as they are addressing their target audience. Pros Simple and easy to use for the beginner. I trust their DA rank score the most after the update. It feels it moves in accordance with Google changes, while MOZ has the most wild of DA rankings. I use AHREF on a daily basis and it serves it's porpuse: DA, link intelligence on my competitors, new and lost links on our sites... all reviewed extremely fast withouth having extra information from other stuff like SEMRUSH does. Pros Even when on the free plan, you have several tools at your disposal to up your SEO game or kickstart a content strategy. I mainly use it for correcting technical SEO issues and it has been extremely helpful in identifying and letting you know how to fix them. I plan to eventually move on to their keyword explorer tool to find rich keywords to start writing content on. Cons Ahrefs has everything covered when it comes to SEO. The layout/interface is clean and easy to read and understand. The keyword research tool is extensive, its the only one you need. You also have the ability to filter with advanced options throughout the program. Pros This is the most comprehensive web crawler I've ever used. Cons The only real concern I've come across so far is that they provide so much information, it's hard to process it all. But, I guess that's a pro, not a con? It can be overwhelming at first (as I'll talk about in the cons) but once you have a good grasp of how it works and decide which elements of it work for you, it's great for managing SEO for a single website or many in the case of agencies. Cons It's an overwhelming amount of data for someone starting in SEO (or even with experience) so you have to be selective about which data will be relevant to your goals and which data you need to "let go" of or just ensure you don't get hung up. Pros I like the fact that I can do my keyword research and get the keywords that my competitors who are using Google Keyword planner do not get while doing their keyword research. I also like the fact that I can get a full audit of my website in full and also know what next steps to take to make my business above my competitors. Cons The 7 days free trial is a limited time to ascertain how effective this software can work for you. Your website need to be indexed for more than a long time to be able to know if the software will work for you or not and as such all your website details will be taken by the software so as to get you a robust analysis of your website.
