Google Forms has been our go-to software for conducting internal team and staff surveys. and has also been quite effective for sourcing feedback and peer review feedback from staff. Pros Once it got opened up for third party developers to plugin their own modifications, it has really grown into an amazing tool that can be adapted for even more advanced surveys. Also, the seamless integration with the host of other Google software offerings makes it very practical to fit in our daily workflows. Cons I think Google could explore developing an offline version or mobile app version. This helps me to easily create quizzes rather quickly that auto-grade themselves in an almost instantaneous manner, that way users can view their results and so can the creator of the quiz. - It is responsive and fast. - You can adjust the grading system to your liking , add sections. Basically customize everything to your liking with very minimal effort. - It has a very useful reporting analytics and visualization system already installed. - It allows a great deal of plug-ins that could come in handy, I recommend form limiter, it really helps set and end date for my quizzes. - All the forms are stored on Google drive for later use/ review, that way if you want to import from them later on, you can. If I think about the time where I needed to physically right people's details down in a table and then capture the data afterwards, this seems such a cumbersome exercise compared to the seamless flow of the user filling it out. Each person is paperlessly responsible for their own entry. Any type of data can be requested, from their favourite colour to asking them just about anything. I can't see myself setting up any event without using Google Forms. Pros Google Forms gives you flexibility because you can use it for any organization. From a single member to small groups and even large networks can easily collect data from their groups, clients, or other contacts. If you are into data collection and management, it places the task hereof into the hands of the person giving the data which eliminates misinterpretations that could lead to embarrassing spelling errors. The fields are super easily customizable in that you can capture data from individuals about anything. The best part is that this data is easily captured and easily exported into sheets. I love that the data can be exported into excel and then from that data you can merge it into a word document and then send personalized mail, whether in printed form or electronic. This data can be accessed anywhere as it is stored in your google account. Cons There is very little to report on the cons side. But one thing I do like to see improved is a confirmation notification sent if you enter your email address. If no email address is requested on the form, google could request an email address to be entered simply to confirm submission. Once a submission is sent it doesn't give the user an option to retract the submission. It has all the basic functionalities like data validation, response based section navigation, analytics & visualization etc. We can add collaborators to review and edit the forms just like any other apps in the Google docs family. The form appearance is customizable with fonts, color themes and header images. From the Google Workspace Marketplace we can use add-ons to give additional functionalities. The forms can also be used for creating quizzes especially for academic purposes. The responses received on Forms can be exported to Google Sheets where we will get a spreadsheet generated based on the data collected. This indeed makes Google forms a front-end application to enter data to a Google sheet without opening and messing with the sheet directly. Cons Unlike other Google apps, Forms are not that frequently updated. It got some pretty good updates recently anyway. Although Forms can be used to create quizzes, it is not competent enough to match with the features of other popular online quiz creator applications. This created the problem of messy, non uniform data being entered. Apart from this unorganized data being collected, people accidentally began overwriting existing data fields. I make forms for a variety of things, and I have not run into a case where Google Forms does not meet my needs. It's a rather robust software that is versatile while still keeping ease of access high. Cons I have very few issues with forms. It has been a very stable software for me since I started using it. If there was anything, I'd say it would be nice to have a greater degree of freedom when it comes to the google sheets portion of it. I'd like to decide where the data get's placed from the form into the sheet, and in what order, so there is less for me to do when it comes to moving things in sheets.
