September 24, 2020 5.0 Overall, Google form is easy to use and has clean user interface, anyone can prepare a Google form with simple procedures, and Users are able to use Image upload feature, radio buttons, checkbox and dropdown texts for the simplicity. Moreover, analyzing the result is much more efficient as it gives the real time data, and also the form creator can set, parameters i.e. limit the number of devices to submit the info or simply limit the user to submit the info twice from the same device. If the form creator wants to authenticate the user through email, there's also an option to verify the email before the user can enter any details in to the form and submit. So, this helps to block the unauthorized emails or users to sign up the form. Pros It's user-friendly and even the person who is not particularly a tech-savvy can implement the Google form and customize it as per the necessity. Even when we are working on a backend, and need to update the database in real time, then still Google form is accessible, and it's integrations with Google drive, Gsuite, and Google sheets has made it possible. Cons Google form has no any particular downside, apart from that I have some issues with the validation parameters in Google form, as I have previously used it to prepare an online form for the webinar event, and when I made the customized form and share the Google form link to my friends via Whatsapp, Telegram or messenger, just encountered a problem that phone validation is causing error and users were unable to submit the form due to validation error, so I had to omit the phone input section due to a bug, but later on the issue was solved. Pros Google Forms are easy to use and can be used in a variety of situations. If you use them for a survey, or to collect data, you are easily able to see the results in different formats. There are pie charts of your data or bar graphs that are automatically produced. You can see the results of a group or individuals. You are able to download all the results into an excel document. I have used them for quizzes for my students. This is great for online teaching. My school uses Google Forms for Covid sign-in every day, and our IT team uses it to ask teachers about various Google products so that they can adjust what is available for teachers to use. I love the spreadsheets that I can make with it. A few weeks a colleague who was arranging lunch for our workplace emailed us asking for our lunch preferences. Another colleague quickly created a Google Form that would allow her to not only collect our lunch preferences, but in a very organized way. The first colleague was amazed and said she's been using Google Forms ever since. It has saved us so much time at work! Pros I use this very frequently at work, both to make and take surveys. Questions can be organized into sections. Questions can be multiple choice, short answer, long answer, or other formats. I can move questions around if I decide later to change the order. I can choose a theme to make it aesthetically pleasing for the person taking it. I can easily view responses one at a time, by question, or in a spreadsheet. I can decide to make certain questions required. I can easily email the form or post a link. Cons There is one thing that I wish Forms could do. Often, I use Forms to find out which committee each member wants to be on. I can create a question with choices that they click on, and they can click on as many or few as they want. But if people click on more than one option, I can't organize the responses by individual option. All answers go in the same cell in Excel. So for example, maybe my options are Mardi Gras, trivia contest, and service project. Some members choose just Mardi Gras, some might choose Mardi Gras & trivia, and some might choose all three. There's no way to easily sort by who chose Mardi Gras, ignoring the other two options. I've found a work-around but it's a little clunky: I divide questions like that into as many questions as there are options. So I would have to make one question that says "Do you want to be on the Mardi Gras committee?" and the choices are yes or no. Then I do that for each committee. We are moving as many of our paper forms into Google Forms as possible because of the time savings and ease of use, not to mention printer savings. If you are a Google User, there's not many reasons I can think of to use other companies when it comes to surveying. Google Forms is a nice fit for most jobs. Pros Easy to setup. If you want to give quizzes, now has a quiz mode that can assign points to each question automatically and provide an answer key (for non-essay questions). Can embed into a webpage or email the link directly and allow people to fill out the form from the body of the email. Multiple ways to customize the theme and get the form looking the way you want. With 3rd party add-ons like Autocrat, you can generate very nice documents and email them automatically upon form submission. Embed photos and video right into the form. Create multiple section forms. Cons Question types are limited--would like to see a few more choices and the ability to create drag and drop questions with multiple answers. The graphs and charts in the responses aren't always the easiest to work with. They used to have a feature in the Google Sheet attached to each Form that would automatically generate a webpage with graphs and charts, but no longer. We miss that feature.
