But it gets more data compared to other messaging or call apps. User experience is more than average and can e improved. Pros The quality of the hangouts call is better compared to other apps like messenger or Whatsapp. Very helpful and suitable for official online meetings and screen sharing. Cons Quality of code comes with the cost of data. It uses comparatively more data compared to other competitive apps during calls. So I don't use it for calls with mobile data. Emojis in hangouts are not good/ attractive enough. The look of the chat boxes are not very attractive. The overall look of the app needs some improvement.. Review Source Rilwan M. Pros The mobile app experience is the best for me, it's very easy to use with a simple user-interface, the audio and video quality is top notch and all these are made absolutely free to use. Hangouts is the perfect app for face to face meeting without any glitch in transition. Has a Google product Hangouts integrate with other of its parent software seamlessly. Cons Google Hangouts does not have software built for desktop users. It does not notify me sometimes when I have incoming call, I opened the app to see I had missed some calls. Hangouts is a tool I really can't get to use as much as I want. Competition settled down, leaving it somewhat isolated. It is, however, still a great app, and having it as part of a greater suite of products (the Google family) really is something not to underestimate. Pros Interface is clean, modern, and intuitive - just as any Google product. It allows to share pictures, videos, stickers and position data, even. It also allows for video and voice calls, which makes it a great alternative to other apps. Furthermore, being a Google product, it is immediately available with any Gmail account, and usually installed by default on most Android phones, allowing immediate access. Great in a business environment. Cons Lacks even the most basic customization options you would expect from modern messaging apps. We tried zoom, which is also good but as we have our business emails through google, google meet is much easier to use. Pros It was easy to use in conjunction with my workspace account with a link available in my connected calendar to click to connect to the meet or a link to dial in if prefered. Cons There is a time limit for free users of 45 minutes so if you go over this it'll just cut you off and you'll either need to create a new meeting or upgrade to a paid account that comes without limits. During the pandemic we found ourselves in unknown territory, quickly having to move our staff into a work from home environment. Google Meets was an essential part of our ability to remain successful and on track during this time. Pros User friendly, clean interface, compatible with multiple devices, easily integrated with your Google account, able to generate virtual meetings from your email or calendar, able to screen share. Cons Very few cons other than there have been a few occasions where the program has frozen or is significantly delayed during use but this could be due to low bandwidth and not the actual Google Meets program. Since then I have replaced it with google voice which is now part of google hangout, the call and video quality is beyond perfect and smooth. Cons To get the most of google hangouts you a good internet connection, I have test the google hangout app on my android phone over mobile data and with voice calls there is some choppiness but over wifi it work perfectly. In many organizations, we want to get away from an in-person meeting, but traveling to be at one place at the same time is challenging when everyone has a busy schedule (or if people are out of town). This provided a way for us to be able to see each other, talk and collaborate, and all for free! Pros I used Google Hangouts to do a group tutorial with 2 women who were in different parts of the country. They needed to see my screen, and I was able to see them and video chat directly, making the process much easier. They were able to quickly pick up on what I was showing them, and answering them was a snap. Pros It's super easy to use it, you simply open the link and you are on. Has some nice integrations with 3rd party service. Cons If you have any issues it super annoying to solve them. Some things you expect to work but they don't. Easy to use, super hard to customize if you need it. Easy interface, integrated to work straight out of your Gsuite/Gmail inbox. The app performs well, without much lag or connection issues. It is very convenient to communicate with teammates without using emails. Cons Screen sharing options are very basic and could be improved. The other issue is when the number of participants are more, the application does not seem to scale well. The UI gets cluttered. Also, the lack of virtual backgrounds can be a negative. In spite of small disadvantages, I still consider it a very good application and return to it every time when Skype makes problems conflicting with other programs on my computer. Pros Google Hangouts are built directly into your Gmail, so they are easily accessed from anywhere where you can login into Gmail, and don't require any additional installation. They are very easy and intuitive to use also. Video and sound quality are usually good and sometime better than in Skype to which this app is usually compared. Most important, as they are not a stand-alone application and are built-in into gmail, they never have bugs and never conflict with other programs, which Skype often does. Cons Some features are lacking or inconvenient. For example, you can't have a small window of Google Hangouts alone with other windows - they occupy the whole screen or can be minimized into nothing. It would be nice to be able to work on a project and yet to see your correspondent in a small window nearby.
