It's my go to for anything involving numbers or data analysis. Formulas and pivot tables are killer for slicing and dicing data. Last year, our district accountant explained to me how to calculate the budget formulas and now I can do it myself based on enrollment. Longing for more functionality on the iPad as that is what most teachers bring, the desktop version is used for all we need in terms of compliance reporting. Pros These formulas are really saving me a lot of hours each week in calculating attendance percentages for state reporting. Created a template to follow our 187 students over multiple grades. The pivot tables have been useful in breaking down the budget by department - got our book budget sorted for us out. Don't forget that even our less technologically oriented teachers can upload their teacher supply requests in the shared workbooks. Cons The mobile app is pretty much worthless for us when writing budget spreadsheets - don't have half the columns on my phone during board meetings. But after using it for years it has only helped reduce my mental load as Excel keeps everything organized, capable, and controlled. Pros What I like most about Microsoft Excel is that it gives you a sense of control as everything is organized. Excel allows you to structure things neatly. The only complaint I have is that the software will crash sometimes; which it is pretty easy to open the software again so it is not the biggest complaint. The navigation, templates and ease of use really make this product stand out from others. Pros The main aspect I enjoy about Microsoft Excel is that I can share documents with other coworkers and they are allowed to work on the document in real-time. It is also nice that multiple workers can be on the same document and edit it simultaneously. Plus, I really enjoy that there is helpful tips and hints to make the workflow more efficient. The software does provide helpful templates which also makes workflow more efficient. I haven't had any bugs or issues yet with this software. Finally, the navigation is very easy to learn; the layout is very clean. Cons The only aspect I dislike about Microsoft Excel is that the software will crash sometimes. It doesn't happen regularly but it will occur at least once a month. The crash usually occurs when I first open Excel but not when I am in the middle of working on a spreadsheet. There is so much to learn about this powerful software that it is almost a benefit.
