Its very easy to use, it allows data to be organized in a very understandable way. It has its problems, but you can absolutely work around them. Pros I like how simple it is to use. Its super intuitive, everything is well labeled and once you start using it, its really great to do a lot of things. I love the way you can costumize graphics to your pleasing. Its also very convinient that you can create multiple sheets in a doc, that way, I can have all my information store in one place and not need to search all over the computer for it Cons It has a very short memory, if you click copy but then go to another slide and click in anything else, excel will forget what you asked it to copy. I use this in my job which is the insurance industry as well in my personal life. I love the ease of use and the interface. There are so many features available, most of which I will probably never use. However it is nice to know that they are there as an option. It is powerful and versatile and I really like the pivot table feature. Cons There are not a lot of color schemes and visibly it is not the best and could use some updates . I have had issues with crashes at times and lose the data which is not OK. One of my favorites is the use of shortcuts and autofill. The program is great at predicting what you want to drag down or sideways to new cells. The software also has great formatting tools to help you make rich looking tables and graphs. Perhaps one of the most useful features are pivot tables. This component allows you to quickly and effectively sort information in a spreadsheet using all sorts of unique filters. It takes a lot of the repetitive work out of grouping information manually. Cons There are not too many negatives in Microsoft Excel. My biggest gripe is the fact that the program slows down and stutters if the data set is too big. It works well with smaller data sets, but once you get a few thousands lines of data in the spreadsheet, it lags a bit. Another con is that writing formulas can get very confusing. Pros Excel is widely used to maintain spreadsheets to keep a track regarding production cycles. Excel is a very powerful mathematical tool that allows simple arithmetic calculations much easier. It has a very user-friendly interface and it is really easy to master the program with available demonstrations and videos over the internet. excel macro is used for higher order calculations and predictions. Pros It's almost impossible to write down all the upsides of this great tool here. I want to underline especially pivot tables. I always need to have tables that should show the features and costs of my parts. Using this feature, it becomes much easier to show what's needed on presentations upon the pop-up questions. Additionally, thanks to this great tool, I can tidy up all my works and find whatever I need. Also, I make my basic calculations using excel as well. It also keeps things very systematic and organised - which is crucial for some one who needs some sort of order in life. Pros The pros are the easy interface, the self explanatory icons and task panel. Being an older software, it is easy to find enough and more tutorials that will explain things that may seem difficult to do. Cons There is no cons because earlier when accessibility as an issue, they turned out with google sheets which is similar. " February 16, 2019 4.0 We use it for payroll, data entry, adding & multiplying, and things related to the engineering field. Pros I use Microsoft Excel on the daily and what I love the most about it, is all the different things you can use it for. Working in an engineering space, you can use it to hold all data points then calculate them, all along while making it presentable in a clean fashion. Microsoft does such a great job with their programs and excel is one of the brighter points within the office suite! We also use it for time sheets and keeping track of pay roll as well. From basic accounting to profits and losses, Microsoft Excel is the key program in its field. Cons It can take a while to get used too if you are not familiar with it. Once you take a quick course you can start to get the hang of it though. Also, it can be pricey for what you may use it for if you do not buy it in the complete suite that they sell together as a package so I recommend that. I deal with budgets, large projects, groups, vendors, etc. Whatever information I need to store and easily reference, Excel is there for me. Pros Excel does everything. It has to, it's the business gold standard for a reason. While the UI/UX might be a bit clunky at times, the end result is the best value for money available. Cons As mentioned above, the UI/UX has had no real improvements in decades. Little tweaks here and there are fine, but overall, Excel looks and functions the same as it always has. In 2021, a bit more intuition and flare would be nice. If you need to do anything more complex, there's so many tutorials online to help you out. I really love tracking out business numbers using Excel. All of my staff use it to track their sales and commissions. Cons I wish there was a way that when you created 10 worksheets and they were all similar that you could apply a change to all 10 at the same time. Now if you change anything, you have to make all the changes on each worksheet. That can be very time consuming. If I'm going to have multiple worksheets I really try to make sure my first sheet is perfect and then copy it. Reason for choosing Microsoft Excel The best product. Also, the formula when I accidentally move to a separate cell gives continuous errors which is annoying. I generally look at server traffic data and try to manipulate it in different ways to see trends and whatnot. But I’ve also done chemical engineering work through it. There’s no way I could rely on the knock off tools like libre office or google sheets. Pros It can do so much from simple spreadsheets, to data manipulation and visualization, to simulations. (If you know VB) Filling through rows, Pivot Charts, and Solver are some of my favorite tools. The advanced data tools make my day to day IT troubleshooting so much easier. Cons Collaboration can be difficult if you don’t like or have sharepoint. The initial onboarding is time consuming. There are some terms that are repetitive which makes it difficult to know, for example, which "insert" you need - the one to insert a chart/graph or the one under the main menu to insert a row, but once you get the hang of it, things work great.
